Arai definitely makes the most comfortable helmets I’ve ever felt.

White reflects heat and is cooler than black. Another advantage is that it makes you more visible and is therefore safer than a dark colored helmet.

If possible, I would browse at one of the stores and try a few on to see which fits the head best and feels most comfortable. The Shoei GT air 2 was probable the best fit for my head shape out of the helmets I tried on, Shoei, HJC & AGV.

Round head - Arai. Int oval head - Shoei. Ruroc - forget it when compared to the other two brands. I own 22 helmets I am sad to say. I own all of these three brands and for me, it would be between Arai and Shoei depending on your head shape...

Just one point to add to the comments.
Based on the homologations/regulations Arai X concept is ECE 22.05 and Ruroc Atlas 4.0 is ECE 22.06.
So we can say Atlas 4.0 is safer than X-Concept...

That is a great question, what would be classic but perform well. Personally I use a K6 but, I think you should watch the reviews on Champion helmets as this was a big factor for my decision. Hope that helped.

Ruroc looks like it belongs on a Stormtrooper I’d pick the Arai or Shoei. Since you don’t like the Shoei guess it’s the Arai.

Ever notice how high-quality audio products don't need marketing? Sennheiser HD800 series are all hand-made in Germany, as Aria and Shoei are also hand-made in Japan.
Or go watch Isle of Mann TT and see what helmets they are using. I dont think you will find rurock used. In fact, there is not enough money in the world for me to use rurock as a daily driver. Look, i have seen many racers/riders use AGV, even them I stay away. They are great Italians made, I think. It's all 100% safety or nothing for the brain. No shortcuts. Rurock, to me, is like only fans 304s. Looks great, but it's not something you take home to and introduce to your parents.

Hello there, I’ve recently purchased an HJC RPHA 71.
Fit and finish are superb and it is lightweight.
The included pin lock 120 is a value bonus.
Ventilation is excellent on top, the front vent is a bit too ineffective when it’s hot.
Only gripe is it’s too pretty in pearl white; I only use it when I want to look cool for my girl.

Always an interesting question. I did the same thing about a year ago and ended up with a Kabuto RT33. The Kabuto has been a very comfortable helmet and I would buy it again. One of the reasons that I chose it, was that it was FIM approved. This seemed like possibly a safer option. On your list the Arai is also FIM approved I believe. As for plain white or graphics, I chose graphics as I feel that anything that may catch a drivers eye is a good thing.

Strangely enough, I got the Shoei GT Air2 but I kind of like the Bell from a price point. Bell is still racing impact spec but fell out of popularity, so the price is 30% cheaper just because it isn't popular. It might not suit style as a personal helmet but I would definitely look at it for an occasional passenger. There is not a lot of design angle in the shell, it is designed in the same shape it always is, as rounded off as it can be so that there are no wrenching zones to the neck after the head impact.

It would be nice to get helmets for evaluation. I like full helmets the best once I get them on but the comfort of modulars and the ease of putting them on and off with glasses makes them appealing to me.
I'm forcing myself to wear full helmets as much as possible and I'll likely be purchasing a new one soon myself. I agree with your reasoning on the full helmets but the improvement of modular helmet safety is closing the gap towards the full face.....I hope.🙂

I have the Arai Concept X and it is my favourite of all my helmets. It fits well and is great at its sizing. Sizing wise my Shoe is tight, Harley helmet spot on, Scorpion helmet is large, and Bell Bullit helmet which is also tight, like the Shoe.
I love a quiet helmet too and surprisingly my Arai Concept X is very quiet, and probably pips my Shoe for quietness.
However, with the external sun shade I have on it, it will sometimes make a slight hiss in a heavy wind. But that is rare, and takes 30 seconds to detach.

Whatever fits best, naturally. Personally, I am heavily opposed to buying a "brand" in this situation, instead of an item. I fell for a brand name twice already. But while shopping for a spare helmet to give to a passenger from time to time, I discovered that a certain company from Spain makes extremely affordable, yet almost perfect fitting helmets for my head. Now I find myself using an $80 helmet almost exclusively, while a couple of $4-500 pots sit collecting dust. As for noise, again from personal experience, the quieter the helmet, the less ventilation it normally has. Earplugs and the lightest, reasonably priced and certified helmet all day, all the way. $800 is an overkill for my taste. I would rather buy several helmets for different times of year (warmer-colder periods).

I don't know if it's very useful because people won't have tested the 2 helmets and everyone will say that their choice is the best without knowing if this is really the case. Not to mention the fact that each brand more or less adapts to a given face shape. The problem with ruroc helmets is that you can't try them on in stores...

I know RUROC feels new because they’ve only entered the motorcycle market in the last few years. But they’ve been making helmets for high speed snow sports, bob sled, speed skiing etc for ages. Those sports have similar crash speeds as motorcycling. RUROC also has ECE and DOT. I know Arai has snell, but it doesn’t mean it’s safer. Ultimately, RUROC provides as much protection as Arai, it’ll all depend on what’s more comfortable to you. PS RUROC looks better 😉

I ride with a Bell Race Star Flex on my Indians(FTR & Sport Chief). I refuse to ever own a Ruroc because of their past shady marketing schemes(fake it til you make it). Ruroc are supposedly better now but just on ethics alone I'd steer clear. Bell on the other hand is extremely high quality & the quietest helmet I've owned & I decat & straight pipe my V-Twins. The transitional lense is a must so there's never a need to swap for day/night or clunky drop shades. So if Bell isn't an option for you this time definitely just go with the Arai or Shoei, with a decorative print ofc ;)

I have all 3 makes. Putting Ruroc anywhere near in the same conversation as shoei and Arai is a joke. Ruroc look great but nowhere near the quality of the other 2 and are not worth half of there price point. If I was you I would also look as schuberth there on the same level as Arai and shoei. The Rurocs are very noisy helmets and there padding is of much cheaper quality. There a relatively new company and will get better but they have a long way to go. I have a Ruroc Atlas 2 and an Atlas 4 and the 4 is 10 times better but still not as good as other makes at there price point they rely on the stunning looks.
