Literally a Game Changer for the Switch - Game Card Switcher Review

- This is a game changer. A literal game changer. Yes, a device for the Nintendo Switch designed to easily switch out four game cards with the press of a button and hold onto four more for nearby storage! I was quite interested in this product when I saw it for sale, so I purchased one, unboxed it on camera, and review the Park Sung Switch Game Switcher!

Sounds like an idea for a flash cart
I have something like this for flash cards too.
Whats flash cart?
@@leserrors7669 it's single cart that you can put micro sd into that games roms on it and play games from there.
Would be cool if it came with a remote for the switcher
It would be useful if it had a remote but if I'm gonna be forced to go up to the tv anyways why should i even buy this?
There is a version that costs 5 bucks more and it comes with a remote clicker
If you have an ESP around and some programming skills then it should be possible to make it smart and use with Siri.
I think this is also good for compalation games that have two volumes (for example, the Mega Man Legacy Collection series in Japan when buying them separatly), we can now just have one thing plugged into the cartridge slot and have at least two collection titles in the slot and boom it's now fully complete like it should.
That's perfect.
I remember back in my day, we had the GBA switcher, su-pported 3 games, I think. Nintendo's gotta endorse this awesome product.
Never heard of that until now, so I just now looked it up. That's one of the most mid-00s products I've seen. If only it was translucent!
@@MrMario2011 I know, right?!
Probably gonna buy this for my youth group switch. Saves the hassle of having to worry about cartridges getting stolen and monitored. Im lilely gonna use this and then seal it in an acrylic case
Excellent use!
That has to be the coolest switch accessory I've seen in a while, didn't even cross my mind that changing carts could be done faster, could see this being useful 👍
I personally love it.
Even though it's cumbersome to use portably, that's the most logical use case in my opinion, especially with the OLED cart door. It just needs a V2 redesign. Ditch the storage slots to slim it down and make it attachable to an in-house designed grip somehow and they might be on to something.
Making it super portable would be cool.
I'd totally put it on a dock, with my 4 favorite games ready to play.
It's kinda cumbersome in a portable situation.
That's exactly how I use it.
So it's just a Neo Geo MVS, but for the Nintendo Switch...
I’ll buy one in the future.
Amazing comparison
It's funny you post this because lately I've been thinking about those old CD changers they used to have in cars and how much I would love something like that for my Xbox 😂I know it's completely impractical and wouldn't be elegant at all but I always think about it because I own a lot of games on physical copy for the Xbox Series X and I always put off playing certain games cus I'm too lazy to change the disc 😂
All those disc changed options were pretty nice. Throwback to people who went all out with a 20 disc changer in their trunk 😛
@@MrMario2011 Hahaha yeah those were interesting times!
I just ordered one. I use my switch in a wall mount and have to usually pull it out of the mount to change games. This should make changing a bit easier. Hopefully I don't have any clearance issues in the wall mount but I'll know in a day or two.
Sounds like a perfect setup for it!
I was thinking it would be great but if you have to push a button it is worthless to me. I have mobility issues so I cannot get to my switch to change physical games so going there to push a button makes it a 'no go'. I always use my Switch docked but I have to have my husband change the carts for me until I'm better at getting in and out of my wheelchair.
Sorry to hear, but understandable.
Personally as a collector I would never put my carts in 3rd party devices but thats just me. It is tempting to buy though, neat accessory
And it's just a switch (like a mixer tap) which can't dump your cartridge and make your console banned
Well, since you asked, my thoughts are that it's not really useful for me. The limitation of four carts only gives it a slight advantage over just swapping all my carts manually, and it's just not enough to justify either the cost or the now premium shelf space I have left or the hassle of managing the thing itself. I think for my purposes, eventually hacking my Switch and ripping all my carts as ROMs onto a massive multi TB sized card would be my ideal solution, but that's for the future. My general rule of thumb is I don't hack a console until the stores and online modes go down. I'm focused on the Wii U and 3DS currently, and did the Wii and DSi before that. I did hack my PSP even though its store is still technically up, but that's an exception mainly because the console is never just passively "on" the PSN network unless I actively sign into the store, so I have no worries of ever being detected and blocked.
Has anyone tried daisy chaining multiple units together? I would think if you added another unit to the parksung unit so you can use 6 carts or 9 or 12. I would use for first party games, or compilation carts.
I think that there should be an app on your phone so that while you're sitting down on the couch playing on the big screen, you can switch without getting up.
That would be cool!
Imagine chaining 5 of these together. Also a bit sad it's not 8 fully functional slots. Idc about the storage, could have made those slots legit functional lol.
Could you theoretically daisy chain these? Put one into one of the working slots so essentially you have 7 available slots instead of just 4? Or stack a few together to hold the entire physical library one may have? Grants you’d have to remember which cart was were and switching would be a nightmare id imagine.
I was going to ask the same thing.
But more of a 'family tree' chain like how some people set up old RGB scart switchers.
Not that I would, I'm sure someone else may though.
Something like the 'root' switcher has genres on each 'channel' and the maybe sub-genres on the next level and so son until you have the game selected.
It looks as though the light in the selection button does change to identify the channel that is currently being read, so a labels could be made to trace the path down to the game that is active.
An utterly ridiculous setup, but I'd still be amused to see it being done.
I don't see why it wouldn't work.
That thing reminds me a lot of the Sky3DS, except with legit carts lol. That is awesome though! Never even knew this existed!
Yep, been wanting something like this for a while so it was cool to see it's been produced.
glad this exists now. was looking for that lika year ago or sth
Happy it exists!
My lazy gamecard-losing ass is gonna love this!
It found the target audience!
I buy mostly digital but saw this advertised in a temp ad and was curious how it worked.
For portable just use a right angle type c to right angle type c cable. or a regular type c cable. no need for that host adapter.
Not a bad idea, although I only used this portable just to demonstrate how it works on video.
THANK YOU! 😀 I mostly use the switch in tabletop mode. And I was wondering if this would work undocked. And you answered it. I am definitely going to pick this up because I got a beautiful set up to use it comfortably in tabletop mode. :)
Perfect for the MIG Switch
Mr M is an enabler. Enabling me to get so much enjoyment out of retro consoles. I've never felt the need for a current gen console quite honestly. I have a good gaming PC and I really enjoy retro systems. The tutorials and Mr Mario discord have been invaluable. I really appreciate these product recommendations as well.
Sorry, I still love my consoles 😛
I wonder what would happen if you used another game switcher in the game switcher. Would it just let you continue adding them together or would it fail to read?
I don't own a second one to experiment with, although I feel like that wouldn't be recommended 😛 I can imagine issues with game cards disconnecting mid-gameplay being introduced.
@@MrMario2011 it would definitely be a pointless experiment. But it could lead to something interesting. I have my Switch dock mounted to the wall. I would love to mount this big box underneath it that would let me switch between like 50 to 100 game cards
Reminds me of Memorex Universal Game Selector for 3DS and DS, and Radica Gamester Game Changer for GBA SP.
Edit (04/22/23): Misspelled Radica.
Similar products existed back in the 90s for cartridge systems like the Sega Genesis.
Got a name for them? I'd love to see
@@MrMario2011 I forgot what It was called but I once saw an ad for it which was a weird one. I'll go look for it right now online.
@@MrMario2011 It's called the Video Jukebox VJ. It turns out that it was never released even though there were ads for it. It would have let you put in 6 carts in a big box that plugs into the top and had 6 buttons to press on the thing itself to swap between one of the games. It's said that it would also have came out for the SNES but no pictures of the SNES one ever came out.
This is great, but did anyone else have a problem when you went to put the system to sleep that it would turn itself back on… I ended up having to unplug the switcher for my switch to go to sleep
Just so people know, they are making a new 8 game slot that will come out soon in case you want to wait for that one
Definitely like I'll get one
I use my switch only in dock mode and it's a launch model
Thanks! I was literally thinking how useful something like this would be while swapping cards out just now
The OLED makes it harder than the other 2 models 😛
I have this. My main worry is that since it came from a no-name company that maybe it would ruin my card slot or burn something out. But so far no problems. I have it on my at-home/in-dock Switch. Got it simply because I was getting tired of switching out the card. First-world and physical-only problems, right? LOL
cart readers are one of the most easy things to swap out in a switch so even if it did fry or break the cart reader its an easy fix
Reminds me of the NES M82 demo units you used to see in department stores
Yo, this would be helpful for some game shop owners out there wanting to make their own Switch kiosk.
You were not kidding when you said this thing is a game changer.
I meant it literally!
Honestly will solve the problem of having to remember if the cart is in the right case or having multiple in one single case. I love this!!
.....Got me thinking thought...could this be linked up with another switcher to add more space??? hahaha
I think that's the thing many people are wondering now 😂
I can respect those that want to remain stock and have physical media even though current gen is ruining that for everyone. For me this device just doesn't seem cost effective. You still have to get up and touch the hardware rather than being able to operate it remotely and it only switches between 4 games. You could argue that this is reducing wear on the game card slot but it could be doing more harm to it by creating unintended stress to the slot by supporting the cable. Untested theory and purely speculation on my part. Honestly I feel that it is just better to mod the console and run CFW and back up the original games. Eventually we will be required to do this anyways when the Switch is cutoff from the eShop like the 3DS was.
For sure, I've got another console which is all done up with CFW, however my main console is this OLED here with all stock.
Maybe it can be modded to read games from an sd card like the sky3ds
You are insane. I get so tired of switching cards out for my son. Glad i found yiur channel
Welcome aboard!
i wonder what would happed if you bought a few of them and plugged them into each other?
this reminds me so much of the sky3ds flashcard and how you load the 3ds games on it and you press the orange button on it to switch to the next game
Yep! Although having only 4 games on here makes that better, was a pain to go through so many on the Sky3DS
@@MrMario2011 and then forgetting what games you had on the card
This might be a bit much to ask but if you can do so non-desctructively could you please open it up so we can see how it works? If it's too difficult then no worries, I was just curious what's inside.
I haven't taken it apart, but I plan on this being a one-off video.
There were products like this in ye olden days for cartridge-based game consoles such as the Atari 2600, but I always thought they looked ridiculous and were unnecessary. For the Switch though, I think it makes sense. Plugging "cartridges" into the Switch is a pain and I know I have a few physical games I play regularly.
Thank you for showing this device to us. =) It is simple and easy to use. But I think it needs version 2 - smaller and slimmer foe even more convenience=).
Imagine plugging one into another one. You'd have 7 game slots and 8 storage. Or you could go further and have 10 slots and 12 storage...
I wonder if they'd even work? I assume so since it's just a cartridge being emulated...Maybe something that could be done?
Why did it take me so long to realize what you did with the title of the video? lol
At least it got through!
if this device is going for full lazy mode it needs a remote or an ir or app function to change the games from still sitting on the sofa. if i have to get up to press the button to change the game i might as well just get up and change the cart
We need a big stick to poke the button.
@@MrMario2011 hahaha the simpsons episode 7 season 7 where homer works from home and hits the any key with a broomstick from the couch
Nintendo switch magazine extender
I wonder if there is a way to mod one of this things in combination with mig switch to make it easier to swap games without wearing out our cartridge slot 🤔
From what I know the MIG Switch does work with this!
Imagine Daisy Chaining those together. That'd be a game changer of a game changer.

Let's make it happen.
Would be cool if also worked with legit Switch installed micro sd cards.
Can we cascade two of them together
Oh yes! Sold
Very cool! I love stuff like this
I like it but I can’t put my switch into sleep mode while using the card reader. I either have to unplug the reader or completely power the switch off
I've seen some people comment that with different configurations, thankfully I haven't run into that.
I had one quite a while ago I still have it but I don't use it because it doesn't go into sleep mode as you were saying. Do you know what settings are to make it not stay on all the time so you can go into sleep mode??
Can you clarify one thing for me?
When I have this dock, I do need to push the button to 'switch' the game? Or can I stay on my couch and close one game and the other appears? That would be the reason for me to buy this accessories.
Tia
You have to push the button.
I do not know if I get one because I do not want to risk my games and my games that I play mostly what I left in and digital games mostly.
My games have been fine, thankfully. Although not sure if you're talking about physical or ban risks? The latter wouldn't really apply.
Oh my god, this is absolutely fantastic. I only have 5 physical games and swapping them often makes me really nervous since the v1 switch's cart slot is notoriously terrible. Mine started having read issues so this is a godsend.
Thankfully if you ever have to replace the card slot, that doesn't look too bad. However yep, sounds like a perfect accessory for your situation!
I liked that product but doesn't it let opportunities for making flashcarts?
With the way the Switch's security works, that's doubtful.
I think this idea is a few years late, but if the new switch is backwards compatible? This will be definitely a game changer.
Literally!
I'll watch later
Is it possible to chain multiple of these together to allow for more games?
I haven't tested, but from what I've seen that isn't possible.
I had one quite a while ago I still have it but I don't use it because it doesn't go into sleep mode as you were saying. Do you know what settings are to make it not stay on all the time so you can go into sleep mode??
Used it on multiple docks and consoles, sleep mode hasn't been an issue.
actually very cool. good design. i love those clear joycons, where'd you get them?
I reshelled them myself, they're my personal favorite! I used them on my reshell tutorial here. ua-cam.com/video/3WSp5RLE5-M/v-deo.html
Etsy is one place I know since I got my shells from there and there was options for translucent shells from that seller
Have you noticed any wear or scratches on the metal connectors on the back of your game cards from using this attachment? Some 3rd party devices can do that to SD memory cards and I was wondering if this might do the same type of damage to Switch game cards.
Mine has been fine!
My biggest complaint about this is that it doesn't have a remote so that you can change it from your couch. Not a deal breaker, but hey when your trying to avoid going to the Switch as little as possible, this is one thing that these companies need to consider. Just saying. ;)
Not a bad idea
I'm wondering if this could be used to run a multi-cart off of something similar
I doubt we'll ever see that, but this is something close!
Waiting for the day that someone produces a sd2vita style adapter
SD cards on SD cards. 😛
@@MrMario2011 SwitchedUp 😀
looks like a thing someone could replace a port with an sd card.
and make something like the psvita2sd card.
🤔
Hey, do you actually need to put in the fake game card for it to work?
How else would it work?
I've been on the fence about this. Might bite the bullet now.
Have fun!
Wow, that is a game changer.
I meant what I said!
This would be usefull when inviting people to play : imagine you put mario kart, smash bros, mario strikers and a mario party game et voila!!!
A great use!
I want to see this hooked up to a lite! Hilarious no?
✌️❤️
It would work the same 🙂
If it had more than 4 slots, I'd like it a lot more.
That would be cool, although I've been fine with the 4 working ports on mine.
can this be doubled up? hmmmm🤔
Can you read the card content on a Pc with this?
The USB port is only for power, so that's not how this would work.
useful but ill wait for it to be dirt cheap by 3rd party sellers.
It does not solve the problem of still having to get up to change games
i'm curious, are you able try it on a day zero with cfw and run a fps test using the adaptor & without?
honestly i'm curious about the speed of the hardware transfers.
Well, if I have to stand up from my couch to go press a button on the console to switch games, then I can as well just take the cartridge out of the console and change it with another one...
It's a waste of money in my opinion.
Everyone's got an opinion, I've personally enjoyed it 🙂
@@MrMario2011 Yeah, but for that price you just buy a cheap cartridge holder, put your games in there, place it next to the dock, and swap your games as fast.
And there's an added bonus, you can see what games are stored in the cartridge holder.
In jus learned about this today, and holy crap this fixexs all myt problems! Tons of physical games and so many times I want to pop in a rogue like game for a run or a shoot em up or any other game, but I hage abig gam elike Zelda inthere oir Mtroid int here and I too lazy to dig upp another cart and swap swap so I end up not swapping! This wil make me ablt to play all te games as I want! tyhere are usually not more than 4 cart games at a time I like to swap between anyway!! Usually some rogue game like binding isaac, a hoot em like Likew Raiden. a big rpg like Xenoblade or big game like Zelda, then some other Action fun like Ninjha Gaiden or no more heroes. In just ordered and cannot wait to ge tit.
Glad you found something that works for you 🙂
Yeah, fuck digital. I have never bought a digital game, if I can help it. I'd like to own them forever, not rent them... Would like to bust out my carts 30yrs from now. I like this! Thanks!
"Literally a game changer", hah! I see what you did there. Took me until the video had 1s left to notice.
I warned people that I meant this in the most literal sense!
Whats the Deal about this Thing when you still have to Stand Up and Press the Button for changing Games...
It isn't for everyone, and that's fine!
this is so expensive
It isn't for everyone, and that's fine. Choices are good!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
imho the product's nice, but totally useless, solving a problem literally nobody has. you're spending ~$35 just to make switching game carts slightly easier, while also more or less defeating the point of physical cases...
It's either useful or useless depending on the user, no in between lol
Looks overkill and not worth buying 😅
Not an accessory for everyone, and that's fair
Just got mines and idk when they started it, but I got the one with the remote which is nice to have. Just sucks that it's only 4 instead of all 8 slots to be switchable. Then again, that would increase the price which is still worth it if it did that.
That's cool! Remote isn't necessary, but that's cool they added it in for extra functionality. I know several comments here were critical of no remote being included.
Seems like a costly and bulky solution to save yourself 10 seconds of swapping out cartridges. Lol.
