It's so bizarre seeing him actually try and do anything other than "use big weapon, as early as possible" in Elden Ring, specifically. It really shows how little he understands the underlying mechanics of literally _every_ FromSoftware title after Dark Souls. As I'm typing this, he's fighting the "Night Hunter" boss (Bell Bearing Hunter) and complaining about the range of the Meteor Ore Blade, when in fact he wasn't using it at all and using the shield on accident. He's not even two-handing, which is something I would have figured he would have done _immediately._ I don't think he knows how.
Asmongold, been watching some of your ER playthroughs and what stood out was not using a whole set of tools that could have assisted you at points. Like tactical use of ..... Spirit Ashes Throwing daggers or pots Different uses of magic/incantations Even using of weapon arts to give a momentary stun to npcs like Gravitation Pull can give to allow a damaging followup chain. Just thinking that sometimes you gotta try new things in the ER universe to see a new maybe fun option.
Imagine playing randomizer to kill literally EVERY enemy again. Just go man. Please just GO. You dont need to kill late game enemies with so much health.
This playthought might inspire me to do a randomizer... oh the pain (Edit) Tip for Asmon, you can put items on a secondary wheel when you hold the button to use an item, If you struggle with scrolling through items, then I suggest using the secondary wheel and putting magic juice on that one, and leaving healy juice on main wheel. PS: Mouse and Keyboard keybindings that I like posted below, they require two side mouse buttons. My friends and I have been doing a seamless co-op randomized run of Elden Ring and I shit you not, the first major boss was Melina. We got stuck there for hours so we cleared every other possible bit of the map, then we finally could beat her.
I'm sure if he just tried getting used to a controller, he'd have a much better time. Dodging is easy with a small button rather than spacebar, everything is easy accessible with the right thumb and so on. It's much easier and efficient if you manage to get used to it. For instance, I played with controllers all my life before I got into PC gaming. I heard using mouse and keyboard was better for shooters, but I wasn't used to it whatsoever. Had to learn it, but it was no problem, and now I definitely prefer M&K for shooters. Same in this case for Elden Ring.
Who uses spacebar ? Shift is literally right there. When you change keys to real gaming buttons it is really better than controller. But somehow fromsoft fcks up k&m controls everytime.
Eldin ring was my first fromsoft game and it made me fall in love with these games I went back and played and beat all of their games and I think they are all amazing games...they are now my favorite kind of games and by far my favorite collection of games
At times I struggle goin in cold to the "souls type" games If any kind of time has passed since when I last played, I seem to need to like heat up. Couple that with a new build or weps I'm not used to and it could get real ugly. Hats off to Asmon for gutting it out.
Asmon, my guy. I taught my fiancee (who has little to no experience playing videogames) how to use a controller for this game and she got through both margit and godrick on her first couple of tries. It's not hard and I promise it'll make your life 10,000x easier.

@@emperorborgpalpatine Moving your right hand between the arrow keys and the mouse is significantly more tedious then managing equipped items with the D-Pad (via your thumb). In order to have a similar experience with m&k you would need to use steam input to add keybinds to something like a razer naga to get a similarly ergonomic setup. Like yea, you can get used to the default k&m setup, and with some tinkering you can make it better, but by default the ergonomics are just objectively worse.
I hope Fromsoftware added an update where u can play Randomizer mode in Elden Ring on console. I love this idea, makes me want to go back and play it again. specially now we have the news about elden ring DLC

on my first try with randomizer i went down the tutorial path and the boss there was malenia.. i cannot leave the tutoral path unless i kill her since i have no other grace
Poise.. and Poise is the king. If you are sporting at least 1000Hp, and are sporting some sort of heavy armor, you can trade blows with bosses. Halberds if i remember correctly, beside collosal weapons destroy enemy poise which makes them succeptible to knockbacks. I think he struggles cause : Low Vigor /low poise.
I must have had a similar seed to Asmon here, when fighting the Stonedigger Tree Spirit, I had a boss fight in maybe the same (if not just identical) arena, and it was a scarlet rot one. In an arena that small, that's a yikes.
no real point in mentioning this since he wont see it but for anyone else interested 1 & 2 are great keybinds for switching LH & RH while 3 & 4 are good for switching items/spells👍
Wait, didn't Asmon beat Elden Ring? I see him doing a lot of rookie mistakes that have me confused. Light jump attacks instead of the heavy ones, when he uses the mount to fight that one mob that got too hard for him, he uses light attacks instead of charged up heavy attacks and so on.

Poise.. and Poise is the king. If you are sporting at least 1000Hp, and are sporting some sort of heavy armor, you can trade blows with bosses. Halberds if i remember correctly, beside collosal weapons destroy enemy poise which makes them succeptible to knockbacks. I think he struggles cause : Low Vigor /low poise.
He doesn't want to use heavy weapons this playthrough because people always give him shit for it.
I must have had a similar seed to Asmon here, when fighting the Stonedigger Tree Spirit, I had a boss fight in maybe the same (if not just identical) arena, and it was a scarlet rot one.
In an arena that small, that's a yikes.

no real point in mentioning this since he wont see it but for anyone else interested 1 & 2 are great keybinds for switching LH & RH while 3 & 4 are good for switching items/spells👍
The red hood (head) gives you +1 VITALITY, so you should use it when you get it this early. IT's usually obtained in late Stormveil Castle.

Wait, didn't Asmon beat Elden Ring? I see him doing a lot of rookie mistakes that have me confused. Light jump attacks instead of the heavy ones, when he uses the mount to fight that one mob that got too hard for him, he uses light attacks instead of charged up heavy attacks and so on.
He never really utilized all the mechanics to beat the game, he doesn’t take it that serious it’s just an experience
