I had so much trouble getting my belt off for the Alternator and A/C. I wasn’t sure if I was adjusting the pulley correctly or not. Needless to say I got it and 2 weeks later my daughter said her car is making the same noise again. Might have over tightened the belt. Appreciate the video and looking forward to seeing the next video of you replacing that pulley.
I guess the Millenia has a different setup cuz 626 has Alt/WP belt and then Ps/Ac belt running together both around double crankshaft pulleys acomadating each belt. Water pump on my 626 went out. Alternator belt has been squealing for a year like crazy whenever there is load on it.. no squealing during the day. couldn't figure out where it was coming from, kept tightening Alt belt but it never goes away. Finally, the belt came off and the engine overheated. Turn out it was a WP pully that had been squealing and the pully bearings are built into water pump impeller, when the bearings went bad that impeller inside WP tore around the WP housing and coolant seeped out all over.also some metal shavings bits frm Wp. Installing that Water pump is a bitch...! have to take out the engine mount, coolant hose and possibly timing belt cover and PS pump.
Replace both belts while you are in there . You have to remove the alternator / ac belt to get the power steering/water pump belt off . The bearing that goes in both tensioner pulleys is a 6203rs sealed bearing and press them in, they are cheap.
I think the person who replaced the top tensioner put it on backwards because it is such a bear to put in correctly. I had to remove a bolt from the alternator loosen the other one so I could pivot it, remove the complete bracket, replace the tensioner and reinstall because there is just not enough room between the pulley an the firewall.

A legendarily unreliable car. Thanks for the walkthrough.

Hey I have a question about that tensioner on top did you have to loosen the bolt on the pulley or was it just the adjusting Bolt
Nice video man,,, very thorough, thanks man I got the same problem n I’m gonna fix it , I got what I need it to know,, I love my Mazda
Great video my man. I wish i had that wrench when i did it lol
Thanks bro
We have a 2002 Mazda Millenia and the power tilt steering is stuck in the up position. Is there a way to manually let it down?
Great video and good information. Can you give a ball park price that a shop would charge to do this job? Thanks.
Aperio Guitar the belts should cost around $35. I have a more in detail video coming up for this engine which is on my Millenia
Aperio Guitar as for a shop, this job is about an hour or less by a shop. If you have the belts, you can do the job yourself.
just bought a 626. was wondering if you had advice on swapping the power steering pulley
Yes!
I can give you a call if you like

Need to ask how you remove the tensioner ... im working on a millennia also please help
Ines Caraballo which tensioner? Upper or lower?
Ines Caraballo is it the whole bracket or the pulley?
