I’m still using professionally the trusty original Ronin-S almost every week since 2018. I’ve made a lot of money with that tool on countless client projects, and it still works perfectly. Even the battery life is still fine. I upgraded a lot of gear across the years but not the gimbal as it delivers the exact same thing as the newer ones. Until the battery lifespan will allow me, I’ll continue to use it professionally. I’ll be happy to switch to the RS4 Pro when that happens though.
I daily drive the RSC2 and just started incorporating the RS3...but the Ronin S was my go to gimbal for years as well. I still use it for heavier payload setups, and the way the gimbal behaves is 90% as good as the new kids on the block. It's just a little less forgiving of bad form. only a little though. It's the 1080 TI of gimbals.
Same here, although not every week, I’ve had the S since it came out and have tweaked the setup which has given me great results with the GH5s. Unfortunately on the last two shoots I did with it the gimbal powered down mid shot multiple times. Didn’t look great in front of director! Maybe time for an upgrade…
@@inhousefilms_ Maybe just get a new battery grip? The gimbal is getting to that age. Also, the battery relocation adapter can run off of other types of batteries, so that's an option too. Although, I doubt you'd be disappointed with an RS3/4 Pro! lol

I had trouble balancing R5 + 24-70/2.8 with EF/RF adapter. Kit was too front heavy and rear side of camera was blocking gimbal arm. Is it better with RS4 or should I go with RS4 Pro?
Hi, with the new wider plate of the RS4, you'll have more room to slide the camera away from the tilt arm. As a reference, I can fit my S1H & 24-70 f2.8mm on the RS4, something I can't do on the RS3. You can check my camera setup and compare its size with yours. However, I'd be surprised if it doesn't fit on the RS4.
@@PeterMakholm I tried but I cannot find total length of your kit anywhere. Your lens is 140mm long in panasonic spec sheet, but is it total retracted length? Also S1H body is 110mm thick, but that includes hand grip so not actual rear-to-mount thickness.

Hey Peter, thanks for always making the best gimbal videos. Your channel has become a great resource. I have a question if you have a minute: Is there a noticeable difference in pure stabilization performance between the RS2 and RS4? Would you say it’s a difference worth an extra $400? I own the RSC2 with the old style DJI focus motor and Raven Eye, and I’ve been thinking about picking up a used RS2 (~$350) so I could use Tilta accessories like the ring grip. Do you think the RS4 combo kit would be worth the extra $400 USD over a used RS2 for someone that only films motorsports events and local car shows for UA-cam and social media? I honestly won’t ever use LIDAR or vertical shooting. I just want great stabilization that I don’t have to second guess in a fast paced environment. I would appreciate your advice! I can afford the RS4, but I’d rather not pay extra for features I’ll never use if the RS 2 footage will look just as smooth.
Hi, if you're primarily looking for stabilization and don't need the extra features of the RS4, the RS2 will likely serve you well, but with that said, I prefer the smaller size of the RS4, which still accommodates a larger camera setup. The auto-lock is something you won’t get on the RS2, and is worth spending a little extra to get. agreed, the problem with "reviews"(i use the term losely) is, that there is always an incentive to give a positive spin, cause you get a cut of the sale. This is intrinsic and you should look out for it. The only real reviews, although not unbiased are people actually buying the thing and not having any affiliate links in their bio
@@PeterMakholm yeah. I get that and would even agree. But the RS4 can be a great Gimbal and it might still be a disappointing experience since it is practically a RS3 with a vertical mount. Both things can be true at the same time. If Sony released a new camera and hyped the f out of it and it had a new mounting point, but the rest would be virtually the same, we could still say. Great camera. That’s not the point. The point is, that the changes don’t really warrant a new product. If you asked me: should i get the RS3 or RS4 if i don’t have a gimbal? Hands down RS3. Same thing just a ton cheaper.

@@PeterMakholm Thank you very much brother, I will be waiting, greetings from Spain
Ronin rs 4 pro attached the ronin s battery adaptor
I use Sony A73 and Sony Fx 3 with 24-70m and 16-36 , should I get Rs 4 or pro?
Rs4
nice video thank you!!
Thanks mate.
Naahhh, I'm happy with my RS2 Pro, maybe I'll upgrade IN TWO YEARS with the RS10 PRO.
so something I'm not seeing any info on is can the RS4 pro power a camera? it doesn't look like it has much for ower outputs to feed a camera
Ok it's RS3 but with upgraded number 4
Need something with high payload capacity
Lol, wish they made one for Action4 😊
since 1 week ı but a rs4 with full batery ı used just 2,5 hour than ı see the battery capacity %10 this realy very bad
I just bought the 3 😭
360 mode bro
Peter McKinnon music.
Good video but its too positive honestly. Didn’t hear a single negative point. Only the vertical mode is nice.
agreed, the problem with "reviews"(i use the term losely) is, that there is always an incentive to give a positive spin, cause you get a cut of the sale. This is intrinsic and you should look out for it. The only real reviews, although not unbiased are people actually buying the thing and not having any affiliate links in their bio
@@The_DalibanI honestly don't have anything bad to say about the RS4.
@@PeterMakholm I noticed that every shot in your real estate video with the gimbal is tilted to the right. Very obvious. Somehow DJI can't get that sorted out (I have the original Ronin S) but it is just a little extra work to correct that in edit.
More of a RS3.5 than anything. This is a joke. If you don't have a gimbal now and need one, go with the RS3 Pro, prices just fell and it's practically the same gimbal.
You're high, the RS4 is 560 and the RS3 Pro is almost 400 dollars more
Can i put dji oa4 with rs3 pro? Sorry i am new about gimbal 🙏
@@Natureboy-w1e there are ways, but why? Get a cheaper, smaller one. Mini is fine. The action is a lightweight 👍🏻
@@Natureboy-w1eabsolutely bro
This is what everyone said about the rs3 pro
✌....
Just wait couple weeks and You can get absolutely newly totally upgraded RS 5 Ultra Max . Just marketing , dude . Go to creating , not advertising for couple bucks . Keep You soul
Love your humor. 😂
