When I was 11 years old in 2007 my parents adopted a black lab from the animal shelter who was badly abused by his previous owners. We named him Jack, sadly we had to put Jack down in 2016 due to a tumor that was growing rapidly on his groin. Jack always slept in the donut position until 2009-2010 when we all had to move to a new house and my sisters and I had our own bedrooms. Between my parents' room and my room Jack was always in my room, but he would never get up on the bed. He would always lay down beside my bed facing the door in a Lion's position. The first time he did that I KNEW we had a deep connection cause he didn't do this when he was in my sisters' room. I was abused verbally, mentally, emotionally, and even physically. It got to the point where I was afraid to sleep at night cause I was afraid that one of my parents would murder me in my sleep and I think Jack sensed and understood how I was feeling. So he always stuck by my side at night, protecting me. He was MY guard dog and I miss him so much 😭😭😭 RIP Jack Jack I think of you every day
Labs are good dogs my dad was physically abusive and my own black lab nearly took a chunk out of his arm. Her name was Lucy and she had to be put down 6 months ago do to a stroke and old age(she was 16).
@@beccamcdonald9846 i knew my Husky would not do well without her. So whrn Lucy's health really started to decline at around 14.5ish I got Khio(5 year old Female Siberian Husky) 2 sisters Bella(now 2 year old German Shepherd/Pit mix) and Kara(1.5 year old Siberian Husky). Honey, I'm so sorry for what you went through. My granddaughter turned 11 in August. No child should hurt or be hurt. I'm glad you had Jack. What a wonderful part of your life that will always be yours! I hope you're in a good place now. Praying your life gets better and better. And hope if you don't already have a dog that you will someday. If Jack could talk to you right now, (And maybe if you listen he IS) he would want you to be happy. 🙏♥️
@@22lyric Thank you so much for that ☺️🙏🏻 unfortunately I still struggle with the childhood trauma I endured, but it made me a stronger person. Everyday is a new day to heal and to work with God on forgiving my parents. My dad is no longer with us, he passed in July of 2021 but my dad is making up for how he treated me. I feel my dad with me everyday, and he's protecting me in the afterlife. I don't speak to my mom, but I'm hoping 1 day we will make amends. As of right now I don't have a dog, but I do want one and I hope that the pup will be similar to Jack. Thank you for the prayers and prayers are returned to you and your family from me 😍😘🙏🏻💜
The guy is just explaining what sleeping positions mean...NOT that dogs sleep in just 1 position. You need to take your blinders off and see what the world looks like without tunnel vision. Also, I will confirm with 1 dog that I had, I adopted her from a rescue org., she was a feral, named Jaya. In looking at those sleeping positions... Jaya Never slept on her back. When I first got her she slept in the donut position for the most part for about 3 years. She also slept in the lion position sometimes, but not to protect me, she slept like that to be alert for her Own safety. She some 4 years later, I saw her sleeping in the more relaxed side sleep sometimes. She also never wagged her tail, nor did she bark. She never allowed me to reach out and pet her, but she would eat out of my hand after a few years. I got her when she was around 6 years old, and she was put to sleep when she was 14...a good age for a large dog. I mention all of this, because some dogs can even change their most dominate sleeping position and attitude/trust. Jaya eventually went to side sleeping more than donut sleeping. So, she eventually learned to trust me enough to relax and feel safe.
My dogs a side sleeper… he had a bed and never used it… we got him a new one and even tried to train him to sleep on it… he just kept coming back up so…
My lab is a cross between side sleeper, lion sleeper, and donut. She definitely wants and has her own bed...mine. She just lets me sleep in it too. She's usually at the bottom but will get under covers in winter at the bottom or sleep on her dads pillow in her side when he's gone. She loves a nap like that.
This makes me happy knowing even in old age my baby boy was ready to protect me still like he was a puppy and when he died he died comfy and relaxed at least.
Hugs to you. No matter how long it's been it hurts. Not enough stories, words, poems, memes, in the world to express just how important and special they are! 🐾❤
I made a mistake of one-time lifting my sheets up and letting the dog underneath them. Now he demands that he sleeps under the sheets.. however I'm very nasty thunderstorms he will actually get up and go underneath my bed completely I think he feels the safest under there. Even more so than when he's right up and spooning me basically.. it's a pit bull black lab, that is the sweetest dog I could have ever imagined getting. He absolutely loves me and loves meeting people so long as I'm with him. But if somebody comes to my house it's a little bit of a different story he doesn't have many visitors come here so he barks. But when he sees that it's okay with me he just gets excited and wants to play with them.. I rescued him just before he was going to be going into a pound because the family that had him was moving into an apartment that wouldn't allow any type of pitbulls. These poor animals are so demonize because of a handful of bad actors training them to fight. I wish I could afford to rescue them as I would definitely do that.. however being disabled on SSDI I could barely afford me and him. He definitely needs better than I do.maybe the remains on the plate after eggs. Sometimes I'll even make him homemade food for himself. It gets so excited when he sees me working at the stove and then he realizes that it's for him that I'm doing the work for. I usually make enough to last about five days and a half gallon mason jar in the refrigerator. But he definitely prefer is it nice and toasty warm off the stove top. I do this because I would do anything for him. He's definitely a lifesaver.
We have *SEVEN* dog beds, a couch and recliner, and several throw rugs (specifically to give them more options, lol) for *TWO* dogs 🐕🐕. And they often PLOP down wherever they they happen to be when they decide to lay down.
I loved seeing the dogs but this is a prime example of why the internet makes people dumb. Too many people just make shit up and too many others just go with it.
Mine usually overtakes my bed and likes to be under the cover. He likes to be 1mm away tho so hes usually acting like a little spoon or pressed back to back with me 😂 slightly spoiled i know but hes done this since the day I brought him home and always slept through the night, no accidents. I wouldn't change it
depends WHERE they sleep. We have 2 dogs... The younger one, Marusia, uses every position shown here.Jhinn, a VERY old one,18 years,Head between his front paws..
Then there's my dog, one leg up head in a weird position and pointingto different direction then legs or body. 2 legs down 1 arm crossed across the back leg. I don't know what he's trying to tell me, but he sure looks happy.
OK my new dog is a side sleeper. Had them for a week. But if he prefers his own bed, I think that bed is my bed because he doesn’t like the bed I have for him.😂😂
If you have a Husky you may be familiar with the on top of owner and completely oblivious to the owner's discomfort position. Or the as close as they can physically get to the air conditioner with all their body parts position.
I think it depends largely on what they're doing. If they're watching over me they might be more eager to get up when I move vs hanging around the house alone and heat probably has a big factor too between belly up and the donut.
Pov: your dog does all of them
Yup
Yea
😊Same!
She dose
Same
all dogs to that, its more like what situation/mood they are in according to those positions

I've never known a dog to sleep in just one position, I think this is bullshit. Both my dogs sleep in different ways all the time
He never said they just sleep in one position
It's probably what they're feeling at the moment
It’s not that deep
It also is probably the the position they sleep in the most.

My chihuahua also likes to be on its back and paws in air❤😂
My dog has been sleeping belly up forever
Edit: this is comforting
Whats the name of the position where the dog lays on top of you and insist on putting their frito feet directly in your face.😂

My dog mainly sleeps on his side but rn he is snoring

My little ones a belly up.
