- My huskies choose between raw and cooked meat. For dogs, this is a difficult choice. But, as it turned out, not all dogs prefer raw meat. What about cats? Oh, these cute pets have their own way of looking at everything.

I eat very little meat. but my dog likes it
I tend to eat a veggie based diet. Feel better on a veggie based diet. But, as Ive become older my body seems to need aminal based protein. I limit it to chicken or turkey. So I eat here & there. Was a strict vegaterian for 12 years and have never regained taste for beef, pork or ham.

You have to cut the meat into very small pieces to get the cats more interested. It is more difficult for them to get interested in something they can't chew. These are not wild cats or even feral cats wondering the street. They are used to getting their food in the correct portion size 😁
You'd change your mind if you saw my two cats who stole chicken fillet from the kitchen table 😱 😂

Cats are just great. They're basically saying "er slave excuse me, but why have you not correctly portion sized our meat cuts" 😆

It's more like "I've never even smelled this before, how am I supposed to eat it? You always get upset when I throw up on the floor but here you are shoving weird new food up my nose out of nowhere, what is wrong with you? Is this how you eat? Just cram any random thing into your face hole? How can you live like that?"
Cats in the wild specialize in hunting specific prey, so their digestive systems aren't good at handling a wide variety of foods. When changing a cat's food, you need to gradually mix them together over days, phasing one in and the other out. They're carnivores, but not all meat is the same and their systems are finely tuned to process one specific kind of food, and need to be given time to adjust when the food has to change.

Cats' taste are just...different. Both of my cats choose crackers or even bread over fish, shrimp and some types of meat, but they still love wet food with those things in it.

I tried this with half a dozen brands of high end dog food. I would only suggest that the food is put out (I used separate small bowls placed in a line about 8" apart) prior to the dog entering the room. My dog actually went from bowl to bowl and back again before he picked the one he wanted. Then he ate the rest bowl by bowl in some kind of doggie order of preference. Fun to watch.
But what was his first choice? :)
@@antikokalis Great question Frank. I should have anticipated it, but I didn't. I did this about 4 years ago and I honestly don't remember which one he liked 'first'. Sorry. He passed about a year ago at 15 so other than his memory I don't recall what he ate.
I did this with my cats for dry food. The one they had liked wasn't sold anymore so I had to find a new one. So I bought about 5 small different packages and watched which one was eaten first, and that's the one they now happily eat.

Glad you’re privileged enough to never have to be worried about poverty, or worried you’ll fall into poverty if you fall behind, or probably have to even wonder if you can give yourself an hour or two for mental health.
The average salary to afford this is around 100k. The average salary in the USA is 70k.
Already there aren’t enough homes for pets in the USA, which is why so many are in shelters.
Your beliefs would shrink that to barely 20% of the homes. Meaning tens of millions of pets wouldn’t be adopted because “WuLL iF yOu CaN’t aFFoRd $800 PeR dOg PeR mOnTh FoR FoOd *THEN YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE PETS!!!!”*
Well, then at that point, we’re just being soooooo abusive keeping the animals in shelters. We should just go shoot them all, stop prolonging their lives where there is absolutely zero chance of anyone adopting a pet, and if they do, it’s a single pet to replace one that got old. Just shoot them all, put them out of their misery, right? /sarcasm 🖕

nope, that chunks of meat was too big for their small mouth so they was looking for the way how to eat that. I cant belive cat owner dont know that, probably feed them with cat food ready to eat

I love how particular cats are with everything including food. Some prefer chicken, some tuna, some pork and others like just want fresh killed “anything” as long as they do the killing 😂

For the Cats, you should cut meat into bite size pieces, then you’ll really see which they prefer, also does cooked meat have spices / juice it was cooked in?

Of all the dogs I would've thought Olive would jump at the food regardless if it was cooked or not. How funny that she doesn't like cold and wet things. That made me laugh. Monty seemed to enjoy everything equally and Yuki couldn't wait. How fun! Thank you for sharing. :)

Another great video, Yuki was determined she was getting everything that was offered, Monty waited patiently and then ate everything, the real surprise was Olivia, I wasn't expecting her to be so choosy. The cats were their usual selves, but I did love how Sonya lost interest and wandered off to do her own thing.
Yes, Olivia has become very picky about food. however, like her aunt Saga and all the other relatives. They're royalty 👸🤴👸

In my experience, even with domestic or feral, cats tend to usually prefer foods they'd instinctively hunt, beef may be a bit big, so smaller animal meats might be a more accurate example. When domesticated enough, they'll snub their favorite food if not bite sized, lol. They do also tend to be opportunistic when it comes to food and will swipe what they can if interested.
I had a cat awhile back that would hunt powdered donuts! Lol, he loved gingerbread cookies too! Funny animals.

@@NorthYukiHusky Yes, she is my best friend a darling working cocker spaniel. She is so adorable, we do agility training , and we both love training and doing new things to help keep her mind active! 🐾🫶🏻🐾
i arrived at a deer road kill moments after it happened. after contacting the local authorities they told me if i wanted it i could take it and save them a trip out to remove it from the road. i decided to bring it back as a huge treat for my dogs. when i displayed it to them, they had no idea what to do with it. i even cut pieces off for them to show it was food. but they were still clueless about it.
i went in to get better cutting implements and when i returned... the cats were on top of it chewing pieces off for themselves! the dogs just laid in the yard watching them. we kept it for 3 days then donated it to the local wildlife. the morning after setting it out for them it was completely gone. and i mean there was nothing left at all.

Each pup has his own eating style. One is dainty and chews the food well, one sort of gulped, but the last was definitely an inhaler; wham bam and that was it.😁 The cats on the other hand always have mixed emotions when it comes to food. FWIW, I rescued a cat by chance eights years ago. He was in terrible shape and in desperate need of some TLC. He was desperately meowing (very persistent) when he spotted me as if to say: *please help me*. They were plantive cries, so I did help him! I've always helped an animal in need. He was so thin I could feel every vertebra and immediately scopped him up and brought him home and made some emergency arrangements for the night. Got him fed and watered. Over all of these months of mutual trust and respect, he's come a long way from where he was 8 years ago. I've been personally available for al the different stages he was going through. I was very patient and after all these years, he trusts again now! . . . Sorry for the long story, but you liked it, right? . . . No? Yes? Maybe? POS?
Wonderful story, well done ! I have 2 rescue cats one who was in a bad home and didn't trust people. He has come a long way too! Like you said patience and love will win the day with all animals. All people ? Not so sure !! :0)
Some cats do prefer different meats. Like some like chicken over beef, shrimp or fish over other meat. Also I didn’t think cats had a wet or dry preference until our old one seemed to prefer dry over wet. You’d think with age they’d like the other but no he eats crunchies.
My 11 year old cat also prefers crunchies; she gets both, but always enjoys the crunchies and asks for more! The food is high end, some freeze dried, some lickable, but those crunchies are her fav.
My baby preferred wet over dry. If I tried to give her dry cat food, she would look at it, sniff it and then look up at me and start meowing. 😂😂😂

Да, кошки разборчивы в еде ...😉 У меня был кот который действительно был разборчив в еде. Рыбу, не абы какую - речную есть не будет ни в каком виде, ему нужно не только отварить, но ещё и выбрать все кости. И как то застаю его на улице, он нашёл промасленную бумагу и с большим аппетитом её жевал .... 🤣
У меня кошка на сухом корме и ничего другого не ест. Хоть сырое мясо предложи, хоть варёное - понюхает и отвернётся.
Мой кот только варенное измельченое будет есть, крупный кусок ни за что не станет!!!
I have two cats, they are very different. One is like a garbage truck - eats everything, and looooooves raw meat (usually gets scraps when i’m cooking). He like everything. The other hates fish, chicken or beef. Cooked or raw, doesn’t matter. Picky as all hell. Only eats his kitty foods. And it has to be bite size, otherwise HRH isn’t comfy enough 😂

@@BustaShenanigans Because the dog's digestive system gets used to a certain type of food. If the body receives a radically different food, it can cause disorders of the digestive system. Abdominal pain and diarrhea for several days. The change of diet should be carried out gradually.
@@NorthYukiHusky but could you get them used to a steady diet of BOTH raw and cooked food? I understand that if the dog is used to it being one way then suddenly you change it, that can be problematic... but I don't see why feeding them BOTH raw and cooked food everyday for years would be a problem?
@@BustaShenanigans The fact is that a certain type of enzymes are formed in the body to digest a specific type of food. Either raw or ready. Therefore, nutritionists do not recommend mixing them.

Yeah, the cooked meat has a stronger smell and cats and dogs both rely far more heavily on smell than taste or sight to find food. But it's worth noting that cats can't live on cooked meat. There are vital amino acids that their bodies don't produce, they can only get them by eating meat, and cooking destroys them.

Thanks! In fact, I'm not sure my cats will eat mice. Yes, several times, while living in our summer house, cats Sonya and Bat caught unfortunate mice. But they didn't eat it. It was very sad to see these little bodies.

Higher class of Huskie obviously. Females are often exhibited to be subjectively superior in many other species. I can definitely see where the feminist mindset comes from and their grudge against 'toxic masculinity' (or you could call it underestimation of female energy). Despite this I am not a feminist, for that would mean I am a traitor to my own kind.
As a child I always saved the food I liked best for last during meals. If you were to perform this test on me, then what you would think my preferences to be would actually be the opposite of my preferences!

My cats would always prefer raw meat. I also give boiled chicken or canned tuna. Nevertheless, they prefer to eat chicken stomachs and chicken hearts RAW

Молодые овощи на огороде, первый урожай Аргоша поедала😁👍. Ну а сейчас спец питание у неё, дисплазия к сожалению.

Trout and cod are safe for them here where I live. I don't know how the fish is normally handled where you guys live. But I always give my cat just 2 or 3 small pieces once in a while, just to be on the safe side

There are many possibilities and openings to coocked food. And is mainly the reason why we choose coocked food over raw.
