25 Dorado SE Boat Review: Equal Performance in the Shallows & Offshore Chops | Florida Sportsman

One of the benefits of choosing a custom boat shop to build your next boat is the ability to adapt the interior layout of a proven hull design to suit your specific needs. A perfect example of this is the 25 SE we saw from Dorado Custom Boats this season. The 25 SE is a well-known favorite among fishing guides for its ability to perform equally well in shallow coastal environments, while offering offshore sloppy weather capabilities to match.
The open deck layout concept offers easy 360-degree navigation around the boat for fighting a fish and the ideal gunwale height to offer security offshore while allowing an easy reach to the water for handling a fish boat side. The slightly elevated foredeck provides a pair of compartments both for insulated fish storage and for dry gear. A pair of large baitwells are located fore and aft. The primary well in the transom (60-gallons) sports a large enough opening for emptying a cast net into and a second well in the forward console seat can double as an insulated drink cooler.
Dorado added a second station on this model for a buyer who takes sight fishing seriously and their pipework design is comfortable, efficient and easy to climb into. Each of these features combined with the performance and efficiency of this proven hull along with 3.5-MPG fuel economy at cruise and a 50-MPH top speed are just what this buyer wanted.
To meet the demands of his wife who likes relaxing on the sand bar rather than fishing, Dorado made clever additions without stepping on or sacrificing the useful fishing features. A removable forward sun pad was added, and a pair of padded back rests were incorporated into the aft bulkhead on the foredeck. Extra Stainless cup holders were placed around the sun lounge within easy reach from every seat. The forward live well was insulated to double as a drink cooler. And an elaborate audio system was included complete with the necessary amplifier, multiple speakers and sub-woofer. The finish result is a great example of Dorado’s willingness to work with a client to build a boat exactly as you imagine without compromises.

Nice features although the Stern squat might benefit from some added bouyancy on the bracket, if that is possible. Thanks!

Definitely not for me in rough waters, As having fished coastal waters for many years
This boat would be swamped as soon as the waters got rough
It needs a deep V hull, not a flat bottom river or lake type of boating system
