"In the Summer of '69", Adams was 9 years old. He explained on interview "It's a very simple song about looking back on the summertime and making love. For me, the '69 was a metaphor for making love, not about the year. Song written 1984.
Bryan Adam's biggest hit was the ballad "Everything I do (I do it for you)" But he's more popular for 80's hits like "Heaven" ... 'Cuts like a knife' ... 'Run to you'
He is Canadian, just like me!! It was a massive song when it came out. He had sooo many huge hits in the 80's and early 90's. He is definitely worth the listen. I love that you brought up The Outsiders~~top 5 books I've read in my life. How do you feel about To Kill a Mockingbird?
I don't know if that was a rhetorical question but I read both in school (late 70s and early 80s) and I LOVED both books and the movies they did on them weren't as good as the books themselves. Anywho, thanks for your ear !!! Lol 👂
Bryan Adams was nine years old in the Summer of '69. He didn't write the song, but he really sold it as his own. This was a huge hit back in the summer of '85. "Heaven" is a must-hear. It was played at every prom and party back then.
Bryan did write the song the song has nothing to do with the year 1969 at the end of the song he sings the line “Me and my baby in a 69” that should tell you what the 69 in the title is a reference to

He and Gary (Moore) are my absolute favorites and bring back the best memories growing up. Bryan I still can see live, did it actually just before the pandemic in December 2019 r here in Lisbon. Oh yes! I adore Bryan Adams. So many amazing songs, so little time. Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman, Please Forgive Me, Everything I do, Straight From The Heart…you can’t go wrong! ❤️
Just like Corey Hart, Bryan Adam's is a fellow Canadian. Many more to discover (Platinum Blond, Loverboy, Barenaked Ladies, Saga), including some contemporary artists (Arcade Fire, Metric, July Talk, City and Colour).

This song is SO good man, just good vibes. The storytelling in this song makes it even better, it always makes for a good song when it's obviously authentic and real and you can visualize every aspect of the artists best memories. I'd also say the same to "Jack and Diane", that song also gets me in a good mood every time I hear it. 😄
Bryan Adams is "80s rock". You guys may like Joe Cockers "you can keep your hat on"... Thanks for the review. I'm enjoying watching you "find" "my" music. 🙂
I remember back in the mid-80‘s (when I was a late teen) that this song was well-liked by most everybody I hung with, even if they didn’t admit it: pop fans, rockers, progressives, neo-punks, R&B lovers, etc. Really good tune that stands The Test of Time 👍
I listen and enjoy hearing many Canadian singers/bands including Anne Murray, Shania Twain, Three Days Grace, Bachman Turner Overdrive and Theory of a Deadman, but Bryan Adams has many songs that will get me jamming and ready to party. This one is on my top favorites list.
I love this! I saw Bryan Adams back when he was just starting in the 80's. The concert was Journey, Eddie Money and Brian Adams. So Amber I fall in line with your mom and it bringing back memories when I hear it.
I was 17 when I first heard this, the band in my local pub played it every 2nd week.i thought it was the greatest ever. Now I'm in my 50s and I still love it
I was born in the Summer of '69, on the second day of Woodstock, and as an 80s kid this song always felt special to me. (I'm originally from Tulsa as well!)
Watched an interview with Bryan Adams on one of the morning shows. She asked about the year and he corrected her. It's not about a year. It's a position... Yeah her jaw hit the floor. I still chuckle everytime I hear the song.
Oh the soundtrack to my teens 💜. So many bangers from Bryan.....Cuts Like a Knife, Heaven, To Love a Woman, Please Forgive Me, (Everything I Do) I Do It for You, Straight From The Heart, Reckless, Run To You. Could go one but y'all get the gist 😁
The only time I saw him in concert, I drove 3 hours there. And I got a speeding ticket on the way even though the semi truck drivers gave me a warning by flashing their lights. Dumb teen I was. Got to the concert late and without tickets, missed the opening act. But my luck turned for the good as some people who reserved seats didn't show. I got to buy 6th row center. The girl I went with was quite the screamer (and looker) that got the band's attention many a times. Caught a couple guitar picks and a drum stick. Didn't get home until after 2 on a school night but will never forget it.
It's one of those songs that 100 years from now it'll still get air play during the summer. Like Don Henley's The Boy's of Summer or the Beatles' Here Comes the Sun.
Bryan is awesome, he’s Canadian .Everything I do is amazing and Have. You Really Loved A Woman along with so many others, he’s one of my all time fav performers .🥰
Another great Canadian act!!! Here's a suggestion - Home For A Rest by Spirit Of The West!!! It is a GREAT party song and for about 6 years straight was the most requested song on Canadian College Radio. And, it will be totally different thanks to the fiddle and the pan flute,
Bryan is from North Vancouver, I remember him playing at our school in Vancouver at a noon hour concert. The band was Sweeney Todd, but their lead singer couldn't make it so they brought along this scrawny kid named Bryan Adams and he was awesome! That would have been the mid 70's, the same year we had Heart play our Valentine's day dance. Pretty cool times.
This song actually came out in 1984. I was in high school then - and loved this song. Bryan Adams had quite a few hits as mentioned below. One I haven't seen mentioned is "Straight from the Heart," it's one of my faves of his.
That's right, its about a time when things were unfettered and better without malice. An innocent time where things were it felt like the world would never end.
It’s definitely one of his most popular songs. Deservedly so. But there are plenty more to check out. He’s great live as well. Maybe even better than in a record. He’s such a humble, funny and nice person as well, I’ve been lucky to have met him in person. Love your reactions!
Bright Angel - You've must have one of the coolest Mothers ever. It's amazing how much music and loved you shared with her. And now you're doing the same thing with your beautiful girls and the little man in your tummy. The cycle of love and music continues. Your love for your children and Rob shines bright everyday. Keep up the great work.
When this song came out I was immediately taken back to 69. I was 14.5 years old and playing in garage bands thinking I was going to be a rock star. Incedentaly that was coincidentally the year I discovered that 69 meant something completely different than the year it was. 😜

'Sliding Doors' with Gwen Paltrow is another rom-com with a more serious tone. It's here on YT.❤🧡
"In the Summer of '69", Adams was 9 years old. He explained on interview "It's a very simple song about looking back on the summertime and making love. For me, the '69 was a metaphor for making love, not about the year. Song written 1984.
We all know what 69 really means, but some people are just too innocent.
Ok, that makes sense. Bryan Adam's rep is strong in that he loves women lol loves loving them
yup
I cover this song and occasionally change it to the "summer of '99" which works for my life
Bryan Adam's biggest hit was the ballad "Everything I do (I do it for you)"
But he's more popular for 80's hits like "Heaven" ... 'Cuts like a knife' ... 'Run to you'
No it isn't
This song was huge when it came out you couldn't turn your radio with out hearing it another great reaction
He belongs to us now..🇺🇲
He was also 4 years old in the summer of 69.What a motivated kid!Lol
@@pastorofmuppets22 - He would have been about 9 and a half. He was born late '59.
I don't know if that was a rhetorical question but I read both in school (late 70s and early 80s) and I LOVED both books and the movies they did on them weren't as good as the books themselves. Anywho, thanks for your ear !!! Lol 👂
@@3joewj LMAO ... You wish!
Bryan Adams was nine years old in the Summer of '69. He didn't write the song, but he really sold it as his own. This was a huge hit back in the summer of '85. "Heaven" is a must-hear. It was played at every prom and party back then.
Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance wrote the song and it's about the sex act, not the year.
That's correct it's the summer of "69" not 1969
The song's not about 1969, my friend. It's about.... well, exactly what you think 69 is about.
Bryan did write the song the song has nothing to do with the year 1969 at the end of the song he sings the line “Me and my baby in a 69” that should tell you what the 69 in the title is a reference to
@@andrewszigeti2174Don’t be stupid. Bryan isn’t that guy to write suggestive lyrics about sex.
Amber, love the insight you had about your mother. I am the same age as her and I can concur that certain songs take you back to a specific time in your youth, and this song is one of them.
awesome, Canadian icon, I was lucky enough to see him in concert in my small town in British Columbia in a sold out 5,000 seat arena , basically 25% of the town and was amazing,. I've listened to him all my like, since the humble beginnings.to stardom. he. had just played in Britain for the queen the week before our concert.. crazy.
please do more of his songs, im sure you will have many requests, they are all amazing !!!!!
new sub love your channel...
ps, summer of 69 was released in 1984
Bryan adams , everything I do , I do for you, thanks
I just love songs where they reflect back on good times. Bryan Adams nailed it with this classic hit!
It makes me so happy to watch both of you smiling when you like a song. Amber rocking it in this one! Love it
Bryan Adams, criminally underrated. Fabulous in person.
Summer of 69 was recorded in '84 released in '85 i love this song.
The list of amazing Bryan Adams songs is endless! But it’s fun to see that Amber knows and loves him so well, one of the last true Rock Heroes. He and Gary (Moore) are my absolute favorites and bring back the best memories growing up. Bryan I still can see live, did it actually just before the pandemic in December 2019 r here in Lisbon. He still rocks it live, one of the all time best! 👍💪💪
“Everything I do” is also a great song by Bryan. Reminds me of the movie Robin Hood prince of thieves with Kevin Costner. 😍
Indeed, it was the theme song for that movie.
It was number one in the UK cart for a record 16weeks.love is all around a cover by Scottish group wet wet wet for the film four weddings and a funeral may have beat it but the group decided to take the record off the shelves and let people buy something else at 11 weeks at number one.
Yes Loverboy...saw them in 81!
Not forgetting Leonard Cohen, Neil Young and Joni Mitchell, of course, who, like Adams were some of the most prolific songwriters in popular music.
The Tragically Hip, The Tea Party, I Mother Earth, The Headstones, Sass Jordan, Finger 11
Loverboy for sure. Saw them back in the day.
Our Lady Peace, Three Days Grace, Cevilain, Cleopatrick,
Another great ROCK songwriter from CANADA
For me, the "summer of '69" was between my junior and senior years in high school.💯 Smoked weed for the first time in the "summer of '69".🤯 Now I'm 69 years old and still smoking!🤣 I fell in love for the first time in the "summer of '69".😍 Like the song says, "Those were the best days of my life."😁❤✌
This song is SO good man, just good vibes.
Yes..."You Can Keep You Hat On"...Song was in the movies "9 1/2 Weeks"
@@junebug_tx2305 I can't hear that song without Kim Basinger dancing through my memories.
LOVE ALL OF HIS SONGS AND HIS RASPY VOICE❣‼‼‼‼‼‼
Eddie Money
Take Me Home Tonight

What a concert! I am fanatical about Bryan Adams and Eddie Money.
“Cuts Like a Knife”❤️🔥❤️🔥
I'm a product of the 60's it was a great era ,I'm 75 and still rocking!
Love Bryan Adams!
I was 17 when I first heard this, the band in my local pub played it every 2nd week.i thought it was the greatest ever. Now I'm in my 50s and I still love it
Favorite Adams song. Takes me back to the summertime during high school.
I was born in the Summer of '69, on the second day of Woodstock, and as an 80s kid this song always felt special to me. (I'm originally from Tulsa as well!)
The song's not about the year though :D
Good to see Amber enjoying the song so much.
Watched an interview with Bryan Adams on one of the morning shows. She asked about the year and he corrected her. It's not about a year. It's a position... Yeah her jaw hit the floor. I still chuckle everytime I hear the song.
You guys rocking out to the music of my youth never fails to bring a smile to my face :)
Another Canadian classic! You folks rock! 🙂
Yes and obviously 80s!!!
Brian is one of Canada's musical treasures. He's also an accomplished photographer.
It's one of those songs that 100 years from now it'll still get air play during the summer. Like Don Henley's The Boy's of Summer or the Beatles' Here Comes the Sun.
I don't know why but songs like these bring me back to the first time I heard it and it does bring a smile on my face. :) Love Bryan Adams! ❤️
Even in 2021, this is a 'windows down' song.
Saw him when he opened for Journey in May of 1983. This song was off an album after that tour.
And, it will be totally different thanks to the fiddle and the pan flute,
One of my favorites. VanCity represent.
Fantastic suggestion! We'd jam out to this at every party and the clubs used to play it every night. Guaranteed to fill the dance floor!
My favorite Bryan Adam's song is "Everything I Do, I Do it for You"
Hate that song
I was young when it came out. Lots of memories etc for this..😀 You have fantastic reactions to many of my favorite songs. Greetings from Norway. 😀
Bryan Adams - arguably Canada's classiest rocker!
Yesssss.....And the lovesong "Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman?". you will like it......
He has an amazing voice- love that distinct 80’s sound.
Bryan Adams is a Canadian National Treasure
Surprised nobody mentioned " One night love affair" That`s an excellent song by Bryan Adams
"One Night Love Affair" is probably my favorite
We love Brian Adams!!!
This song actually came out in 1984. I was in high school then - and loved this song. Bryan Adams had quite a few hits as mentioned below. One I haven't seen mentioned is "Straight from the Heart," it's one of my faves of his.
The summer of 69 was a fabulous summer.
Bryan Adams wrote Straight from the Heart at 17, he sounds as good now in his 60’s as he did when this came out
That song always made me cry. Such a beautiful song.
Bryan Adams is now a highly renowned photographer. His portraits of celebrities are definitely worth looking at.
Bryan Adams has explained in several interviews that "Summer of 69" is not about the year....
I was looking for this comment...lol
True. He was 10 years old in the year 1969.
That's right, its about a time when things were unfettered and better without malice. An innocent time where things were it felt like the world would never end.
@@robvegart it's about giving mustache rides to his girlfriend...
The story I read said this song was written just because he said he could write a song that had 69 in it
Love Bryan Adams
first time ?!😮
and she signed the whole song 😂
You must react to “It’s Only Love” which he did with the great Tina Turner.
Amber is an honourary Canuck!
His was my first concert. So many memories to this song.
