    people always complain about how toyota carry over engines all over again , but that is a good thing ...they are bullet proof engines ...very reliable ....so why risk building a new engine and risk losing some reliability then fixing it in later models

      Agree with you. The old engine is not that good as Honda's. But it is still not bad at all.

      I work on Toyotas and they are great motors as long as they are well maintained but they've use the same 3.5 V6 since 2005 and they need to bump it up! I love the motor and it has awesome power and torque but its time for a change!

      ***** No it's not. Look at all the American companies doing that...their reliability is still shit. I have a 2013 Civic and this one is next on my list. Never buy American.

    Thank you for the review sir! I would like to offer a difference of opinion, and that is on the lack of new engines. The Toyota 2.5L and 3.5L are tried and true motors that have proven reliability. I researched this entire class of vehicle and bought a Camry, it does everything well. I also think the new body style is gorgeous. I have the 2.5L and it flies up on the highway with ease with plenty of power for passing as well. The 3.5L will boost testosterone levels but it's quite an expensive upgrade. I will not speak negatively of other manufacturers but I chose not to buy a car with a CVT, there are just too may reported problems not to mention failures. Overall, I really love everything about my Camry. Thanks again for the fine review.

    I have the 2015 camry hybrid XLE with blizzard Pearl paint and it is BEAUTIFUL. It rides so smoothly it's almost like you are gliding. Thrown in with the heated seats, sunroof and wireless charging alongside touch lock and unlock features it is truly amazing. Not to mention the convenient push button engine start. I don't understand how people can say the car doesn't look that nice. Sure it isn't the NICEST but it is NICE.

    Everyone keeps saying "It's a bigger Corolla" it's ALWAYS been this way.

    • @BDOC99714
      @BDOC99714 10 років тому

      Same with the Mazda3 and Mazda6 looking IDENTICAL except size difference. Even the interior looks exactly the same. That isn't a bad thing to me though. It's good for car companies to have design language in their lineup.

      Not true. The 2014 Camry looks nothing like any of the Corolla models.

      There are many differences between the Mazda 6 and 3. The 6 is much sleeker and just generally better looking in my opinion. The 3 still looks good.

    • @BDOC99714
      @BDOC99714 10 років тому

      ClearMythicGaming I agree that the 6 is nicer than the 3 also. But most people wouldn't be able to differentiate them unless they saw the badge or size difference.

    what are you complaining about the engines. the base 4cyl and the V6 are Toyota's best engines for years, always reliable, which is the key point on why ppl buy them, and it isn't something people have been complaining. The V6 is very strong comparing to the Turbos of Hyundai or Kia even the shitty fords ecoboost with its poor fuel economy.
    why change something that still works great...

    Far too many hate on the Toyota Camry. Everyone is saying Mazda 6 is better. If so, how come I've only seen about 2-3 of them on the road? I've seen more Bentleys and Maseratis on the road than the Mazda 6.
    So please, fuck off with the Mazda 6. If you people like it so much go purchase one. Otherwise, I'm expecting to see plenty of these new Camrys soon after it's release.

    • @danieloconnell8960

      It's got a piss weak engine too. Looks great but no competition for the V6 Camry.

    • @jriddl
      @jriddl 10 років тому +2

      ***** the old 2az were notorious for oil consumption. They even put in the manual that a being a quart low on oil after 1500-2000 miles was normal. But then came the miracle 2ar.

    • @woofoo8691
      @woofoo8691 10 років тому +16

      Honestly, at the end of the day, the Camry and Accord lead this segment. That's a no brainer. People constantly hate on it, saying the Mazda 6 or Ford Fusion is better. I've seen more Ford Fusions on the road than Mazda 6's but again, it's a Ford. It will never, and I mean never compete against the Camry and Accord in this segment.

    • @F6HemiCharger
      @F6HemiCharger 10 років тому

      ***** I know what you mean, I see 4-5 Camrys every day where the oil dipstick is dry, and only about 1.5 quarts comes out during the oil change.

  • @jrors93
    @jrors93 10 років тому +7

    People always complain about the Camry's bland looks, which is understandable. HOWEVER, this car is going to continue to sell like hotcakes, just like their other previous generations have.
    The Camry's reliability is extremely hard to beat.

    An extra smooth ride, powerful V6, and the first hybrid in this class are innovations at this point.

  • @weedmastersr
    @weedmastersr 10 років тому +41

    The fact that Toyota has basically redesigned the car after only three years doesn't show how innovative they are, it shows how shitty, aged and uncompetitive for the segment the car was in the first place, and how they needed an emergency refresh to keep sales going.

    • @kirbyswarp
      @kirbyswarp 10 років тому +4

      Not to mention that it has been the same basic car since 2006, which was bad to begin with. I'd rather have a 90's Camry, back when they were actually GOOD.

    • @danieloconnell8960
      @danieloconnell8960 10 років тому +9

      Yeah that explains why every second car is a new Camry. Hate it all you want but people love them and for good reason.

    • @weedmastersr
      @weedmastersr 10 років тому +9

      Daniel O'Connell Most people are stupid when it comes to cars. Most Americans know nothing about cars. Getting a driving licence is a joke and most can't even drive a car with a manual transmission. So, yeah people love, because people are really stupid when it comes to cars.

    • @danieloconnell8960
      @danieloconnell8960 10 років тому +1

      Protector of the Republic They just don't care, a car to them is just a means of transport. I've been a car person sense I can remember, and the reason I like the 3.5L V6 is because 95% of car people look at it and think 'slow piece of shit', fact is it's reliable, relaxing, does 0-60 in 5.6 seconds with good tyres and sounds fantastic with an aftermarket intake. Cheap as chips too.

    • @weedmastersr
      @weedmastersr 10 років тому +6

      Daniel O'Connell And, that's the problem. They don't care. Toyota's have mediocre safety ratings. This engine has it's charm, but the Camry has always been technologically aged, even at launch.Reality is that most modern cars, if properly maintained, last much longer than any person would need. Problem is normal people are stupid. Which also makes America have a much higher accident rate than the European Union. If it were after me, I would make it mandatory to learn to drive a car with a manual transmission, I would make the entire learning process of getting a license only take place with a professional instructor over a course of three months and a much, much harder to pass exam. Cars aren't just means of transport or appliances. They're a significant part of our society and culture and people failing to recognize that it's why they're stupid and Camry is such a successful car.

    I've studied cars and trucks for 30 yrs. Have had 3 toyota's 1 corolla, 2 tacomas (all great) 1 mazda 323 (great car) 1 ford f-150 (no probs) 1 GMC, Sierra (trans. failed at 15,000) 1 VW jetta (one prob. after another), currently Nissan Frontier (good so far), I don't like the looks of the Camry, but it does have good engine's, has a full front subframe, good sized steel front control arms. but the rear suspension still uses MacPherson struts, not a true multi-link rear suspension. The only car in the class to still use them. I mention this because, the suspension of cars are getting more flimsy to save weight. Most GM vehicles use aluminum suspension arms, which are lighter, but if hit hard they can crack, and aluminum fatigues faster than steel. I live where the roads can be pretty rough, and I want a durable suspension. And many unibody cars don't have full front subframes anymore. I prefer cloth seats, but whatever happened to nice soft velour seat fabric, and carpeted kick panels on the doors. My truck kick panels have marks on the I can get off, can't just vacuum them off.

    Sorry Camry lovers, but I see *Sonata* everywhere. The tail lights, the chrome in the tail, the lines that come from the hood, doors and all the way back to the tail lights, the small display between the tach and the speedo, the 18" wheels... Man, until now, there is no SUCH a revolutionary design as the hyundai Sonata YF (up to 2014 model year) and SUCH a major influence to many other cars (Camry, Fusion).

    The overall of this vehicle is exquisite from the demeanor styling it once had, Toyota prepped this bad boy to stay competitive in a rapidly changing mid-sized automotive market. With the help of Camry baby sister, the Corolla in design philosophy, this redesign should get its competitors thinking again.

    I've owned Toyota's and I have to admit, these cars are great. I have over 160,000 on my 2005 Camry. I only needed new tires, changed my oil, and air filter ( always used K&N) oh yea, my brake pads and rotors and shocks, standard fixes. Never had an issue with tranny, or engine. And never stalled on the Hwy or anywhere. I might get a 2015 - 2016 model eventually.

    Why do reviewers harp on Toyota using the same engines and transmissions from generation to generation? They're incredibly reliable and efficient. It doesn't make sense to redesign something that has a rock solid reputation. Some people want a simple car that will last 15 years and needs nothing but oil and tires.

    Toyota doesnt "innovate" things like their engines because why would they change something that already works incredibly well? You dont fix things that dont need fixing. . and why would you be so concerned about improved fuel efficiency due to lack of CVT? When all the Ford Focus owners are replacing their transmissions early, they can tell us all who's saving more money.

    Is it bad looking? No, it is a huge step forward compare to pre-facelift model. The sport XSE trim looks great in blue as well. Is it a problem that the engine is +10 years old? No, the 3.5 V6 is proven and reliable and gives good performance numbers. And for the people who keep saying here it is a bigger Corolla and at the same time they said Mazda 6 is better, the Mazda 6 is a bigger Mazda 3 so is it a problem? Overall this 2015 Camry is not a bad car. For what it gives, it is a good midsizer.

    That old 3.5 L V6 from Toyota is over designed and overbuilt in the best sense of both words. There is a video about that, where the guy (Japanese mind you...) explains it. That's why this particular engine moves so many of their cars - Camry, Avalon, Highlander, ES 350, RX 350...In a Camry in particular, that is the lightest out of all these cars, this engine works under especially low stressed environment. In some other video another guy explained that anything greater than 100 horse power from 1 L of engine displacement leads to excessive load on the engine and its parts. Case in point - small, but very powerful 4 cylinder turbos, like 250 horses from popular these days 2.0T engines (125 horses from 1 L). Toyota's (no turbo, no direct injection) NA 3.5 L V6 produces 268 horses, divided by 3.5 L resulting in on 76 horses/1 Liter, i.e. this engine is never overloaded. The result is exceptional longevity and reliability. Their 2.5 L engine with its 178 horses pulls even less - only 71 horses from 1 Liter. Finally, I got recently certified pre-owned 2017 Camry XLE V6 with less than 15,000 miles on odometer and it's the best car I've ever owned bar none. It's basically a Lexus (well, almost) inside the Toyota body, super quiet, comfortable and the V6 engine pulls it strongly with barely audible purr. The only downside - two speeding tickets in 4 months, as the car just flies effortlessly and almost silently without you even noticing.

    The only thing I'll say about the '15 Camry is that I really wish Toyota had thought twice about the plastic fill-in on the rear quarter windows. It makes the car look like crap compared to the prior model. Other than that, I'm not mad at their "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality.

    It isn't something that makes a difference to me, though apparently it does to other people:
    This car, considering it's being touted as high tech, does not offer an in car entertainment system with Apple Car Play or Android Auto. It wasn't available until this model was replaced in 2018...if then.

    Why can't we get these in Europe? The last Camry we got was the mK5; I had a Mk4 which I imported direct from Japan via Toyota Ireland. Only way I can get one of these as RHD is from Australia but the speedo is KmH, whereas here in the UK we use Miles still like the USA. I am prepared to hunt the world for a RHD with MPH speedo. Anyone able to offer help.

    All that Toyota for the does for the non-hybrid models is use carryover engines from the previous models and give them major exterior and/or interior overhauls, then market it as new and innovative to lure naïve buyers that are mainstream consumers that don't know there are better options out there.

    As a person who's been driving cars for over 15 years, Hyundai and Kia have definitely overtaken Toyota in terms of technology. Toyota may edge Hyundai and Kia out in terms of reliability, but it's by such a small margin that it's not even worth mentioning.
    Hyundai and Kia cars offer superior technology, superior powertrains (the AWD powertrains on new Hyundai and Kia models are excellent), superior transmissions and superior suspensions over equivalent Toyota cars.
    The only thing that Toyota has going for it is hybrid cars, but then again, hybrid cars are becoming less popular because of cheaper oil prices for the short-medium term.
    If you haven't considered Hyundai or Kia, I highly recommend you test drive them. They offer superior technology and driving experience over Toyotas and are just as reliable.

    Tbh aside from that Lexus like front grill on the xse I like the current SE my parents own better in terms of styling. The rear on the new one looks like a super size corolla lol. They have done a really good job with the interior though glad they are getting with the times and actually putting in a screen in the tach/speedo cluster. Don't understand why they are making the v6 a need for keyless/push. Ours is the 4 cylinder SE but it came with keyless entry/push button heated seats 17s and the perforated fake leather lol. Good to see dual zone climate and all the other safety goodies being available!!

    Test drove a 2015 Highlander, Pathfinder and Outback today, and was really disappointed with the quantity and quality of plastics in the Toyota. There was only 700kms on this demo XLE model and there was so much scratched up plastic inside. Armrest, cupholders and door armrest were all scuffed and rough looking. I've had two Toyotas and a Lexus before and they were far superior to what I saw today. Very strange.

    I dont understand toyota. The Corolla has LED headlights and DRL, smart key, front heated seats, and sunroof as standard on the LE. Meanwhile you have to either upgrade your trim level or add the feature for an additional cost on the Camry.
    An LE Corolla starts at 18,500
    An LE Camry starts at 22,900
    $4400 more for the Camry with less features. I guess you're paying for "Style"

    This new Camry does look like the new Corolla thats cuz they shared & borrowed some styling cues from each other. The Camry took some styling from the new Lexus and now claims to be the boldest Camry by far. I see the Camry & Avalon as the parents of the new Corolla. Look at it that kind of perspective.
