I think Absol is found on Route 120 as this is right before the weather part of the story begins. Foreshadowing to the awakening of Kyogre and Groudon right after the encounter of Absol.
P.S. I am a new sub and have really enjoyed these videos. I watch them while playing my own Emerald nuzlocke!

Thanks once again for doing this challenge, it was a blast to watch week to week. I loved how all the mons grew on you, and I'm happy the challenge looked a step up from the normal nuzlocke while still being doable. Looking forward to what comes next :)

I'm actually going through an Emerald Nuzlocke myself because I just felt like it. Earned yourself another sub. Keep up the good work!
Here are some things about the AI that I'm aware of:
If the enemy sees that you are faster, then it will click a speed control move like T-Wave or Rock Tomb. Once it is faster, it will no longer click the speed control move unless the speed control move kills. That's why Nosepass clicks Tackle instead of Rock Tomb. Or Marshtomp using Tackle over Mud Shot.
What Pokemon the AI decides to bring in is also weird. It will pick the Pokemon with the super effective move, but with the type disadvantage. If you have a Water type out, then it will bring out a Fire type with Thunder Punch instead of the Grass type with the grass move. If that is not applicable, then it will go the Pokemon that sees a kill. If it doesn't see a kill and no Pokemon in the back has a type disadvantage, then I think it goes for either highest damage, or whatever is next in line (I'm not sure about this one specifically)
If you click a move and the AI has a Pokemon in the back that resists said move, then there is a chance the AI will switch to the Pokemon that resists the move you just used, though I think this is applicable to every Pokemon game (?).
This is applicable to most/all the Pokemon games (and you probably already know this): it will roll the damage with every damaging move it has and it will select the move with the highest damage. If there is a singular move that kills, the AI will always go for it. If there are multiple moves that kill and one of them is a priority move, (Sucker Punch, Shadow Sneak, etc.) then the AI is extremely likely/guaranteed to go for the priority move (except Fake Out). If there are multiple moves that kill and none of them are priority moves, then it will randomly select one of the moves that kill. Moves that do a similar amount of damage is very similar to this as well.
Let's say the enemy has a Camerupt with Flamethrower and Earthquake out against your Machamp. Since there are overlapping damage ranges between the moves, it's not guaranteed that the Camerupt will click EQ over Flamethrower. Although EQ is more likely to be selected, it's not a guarantee.
Here's another example: In Renegade Platinum (Drayano ROM Hack), I had a Quagsire out against Volkner's Fire/Electric Rotom-Heat. The highest damage against Quagsire is always Shadow Ball. On one turn, it opted for Overheat, and my initial guess was, "It saw a crit." Once my Quag was barely outside of red health, I saw that the Overheat actually crit my Quagsire. Though this was a Gen 4 example, the idea is still somewhat applicable to Gen 3.
31:17 With moves with varied Base Power like Magnitude, I think...the AI rolled low on either Magnitude 4 or 5 and didn't see a kill on the Bold (+ Def, - Atk) Torkoal, so it opted to go for Focus Energy instead. That's a guess on my part.
46:11 Also, the reason your Castform outsped Linoone was probably a combination of Speed IVs/EVs and the Speed Badge Boost you got for defeating Wattson. Oh yeah, Badge Boost is a thing in Gen 3 and is something to also consider when using a calc.
I don't have a full understanding of how the AI works, but my own understanding of the AI goes as far as this. There are several videos and documents about how the AI works in Gen 3 since a lot of the people that made those documents have experience Nulocking Emerald Kaizo.
The reason I even know all of this despite not playing Gen 3 that much is because I'm getting ready for Emerald Kaizo (EK). I'm not crazy enough to Nuzlocke EK; Vintage White, the closest thing to a Kaizo game I've played, is enough for me lol

This is great information! Some of which I did not realize. I probably should look into finding those documents.

A good place to find this information would be Drxx's channel. You can find a lot of relevant information and documents there in some of the Emerald Kaizo videos. He also has a video about the Gen 4 switch-in AI, which is way more convoluted than it should be.
Another note: The creator of Blue Kaizo, Crystal Kaizo and Emerald Kaizo, SinisterHoodedFigure (SHF), has some videos about enemy AI in Gens 1, 2 and 3. Might be worth checking out as well.

i know its 145 am but youre helping my sleep habits. i just suffered a concussion and resultant seizure that made me crack some vertebrae and ribs.
i played so much emerald growing up that i dont need to see the screen to know whats happening and you have a very appealing, calming voice. i have some pretty bad attention issues and anxiety which arent helped by the concussion but your channel is new to me but greatly helpful so thank you.
(sorry if this was hard to read, im not an English major and again, very concussed)

When I was a child, I struggled at the Brawly fight and always died to Makuhita's Bulk Up + Vital Throw.
But then, my older brother showed me that Brawly's team can't touch that Sableye you can catch in the cave.
I caught it, and then I finally won!
    Beautiful memories. :)

Loved this season, I hope it's not the last we see of hoenn as it's my favorite region, but at the same time I'm really curious to get to know more about other games i may know less (like the new ones) and how you will do with them. Nice job with this!

The kelpsey berry callout at 49:25 is a awesome spotlight, wanted to use a milotic for a nuzlock but using oran berries or chesto berries will take forever and the pasho berry is postgame from berry masters wife
