Stranger wouldn’t even need to use half his tricks to beat Ren… Ren literally lost or was incapable of finishing EVERY lightsaber duel he was in during the ST, with the only exception being against Snoke’s guards, and he was with Rey. It wasn’t until he reverted back to Ben and found redemption that he finally became a capable fighter again… Then y’know… he died 😂🤣😂🤣. Ren is by far the weakest of the force-using antagonists we’ve seen. He wouldn’t have lasted 10 seconds in a fight against Old Republic Jedi or Sith… Malgus could prolly beat him with his saber deactivated 😆.

@@WoodsP51same with Rey. She’s not even in the Top 100. At best she’s like high level Padawan - low level Jedi Knight (with the “all the Jedi” being a canonical parallel to “Oneness” {only she died after using it} and thus would be counted only when she utilizes it more).
Let’s face it: people put too much stock in both Rey and Ben’s capabilities that they forget that they have weak Force barriers (like Starkiller), and that if Nihilus or Vitiate use Force Drain on them, they would *NEVER* stop until the Dyad no longer exists and the hosts nothing more than a bad dream from overconsumption of juma juice and death sticks

    • @WoodsP51
      @WoodsP51 3 місяці тому

@@tweso1499All true. But in Rey’s defense (yeah I know, it tasted like vomit when I said that to myself while typing 🤣), even by Rise of Skywalker, she still had very limited formal training and her primary “master” was Leia… I mean yeah, Leia is a Skywalker and was trained by Luke, which would have meant a lot had Disney chosen to even remotely listen to the dozens of high successful and beloved Legends content that focused on the NJO and post-ROTJ events, but the Master Luke we’ve gotten from Disney is a freakin’ shell of what he should be. But my original point is that Ren/Ben was already at his zenith… He had YEARS of training directly under Luke, and had incorporated the dark side as well for many years, and he still sucked and likely wouldn’t get much better even if he survived the events of the ST. But Rey was theoretically just scratching the surface, so she had WAY more potential to be WAY better than Ben even at his best.

I like your take that the Stranger has a Master and that he's frustrated in exercising his abilities, while under control. The Sith didn't stay hidden so long with individuals like the Stranger revealing themselves; the point was to lull the Jedi into believing the Sith was decimated without a desire of regrouping. That the Jedi had no opposition. I wonder how the Stranger will be dealt with by his Master? This would amount to a serious violation I'm sure - an apprentice revealing a millennium long plan.

I agree with @deusvult6164 but I do like the idea that the stranger is possibly going to be killed in an appalling "both parties die" duel, but the end of the series will be Darth plagueis receiving word of the strangers failure whilst on naboo in a meeting with a young untrained palpatine, very "we shall watch your career with great interest" vibes. not sure where that would fit timeline-wise but I like that as a concept (which means it'll never happen)
OR the stranger kills all the jedi and aids in killing tenebrous with plagueis, plagueis is the only one that survives and starts his search for palpatine.

The Acolyte doesn't break lore in any meaningful way, though. "The Force itself manifested a child" is very different from "We used the Force to cause a pregnancy" in exactly the same way that Vader choking people out is normal, but someone dropping dead in a locked room because the Force willed it would be wildly unprecedented.
And the line about the Sith being gone for thousands of years was literally wrong the moment it was said. We are directly told and shown in the Prequels that the Sith had been there the whole time.

Something that strucked me during this episode (and at large with the people that did the coreagraphy) was that Qimir for sure was a good duelist but the man had a far too unopolished fight style. We tend to think on polished techniques because the movies and shows tend to focus on siths like Vader or Dooku that were great jedi duelists BEFORE the dark side and later on learned the ways of the dark side, so both became powerhouses without the need of movility or the acrobatics of the jedi. In this episode you can notice Qimir using a fighting style TOTALLY opposed of the grace and elegance of Dooku and or the relentless striking force of Vader. Is strong, yes but feels more like a brawling match, unpolished and even amateurish. Is a great detail and also works great with the context and personality of the character.

I honestly think that the new "Sith" dude and Mae were trying to convert Osha together and he revealed himself because he knew there would be no survivors and why he let Mae go with Seoul to finish her list and now he will have two "pupils".

However, if you’re gonna master jarkai and trakata, to really make the techniques excel, you need ghost fire sabers. Tranluscent, hardly any sound and casts after images of the wielder!

Form VII is Juyo... Did you mean to say Juyo, or did you mean to say Form V?
Want to fully understand what you mean - as I think his style looked more like Juyo than Djem so - but I don't consider myself an expert, and would definitely defer to someone far more knowledgeable than I.
I would also add that it appeared he was using Form VI Nimen aggressively as well as any other forms - such as when he used a force pull to draw that jedi onto his blade (for a double-kill), shown in this very video.
    ________________________________
Personally - were I to hazard a guess, I think that Qimir is a master of Form VI, and blends any/all techniques he can from all the other styles in order to get and maintain an advantage - be it Trakata, or Juyo, or Djem So, or Jar'Kai. A Form VI master is the embodiment of unpredictable after all, and there are only subtle differences in the original founding concepts behind Nimen and Jar'Kai - so it's also fitting with your analysis.
TBF, Form VI is basically Form I-V combined (so all he would need to add would be elements of Juyo for someone who can utilize basically any form he likes).

"The greatest honor in battle... is victory" - Klingon proverb
As for the forms, I've never cared for how obsessed some people seem to get with lightsaber forms. Sure, it makes sense that they'd be a part of most Jedi combat teachings, because it's just another aspect of standardization that becomes more commonplace the larger an organization gets or the longer it continues to exist. But ultimately this dependence on discussion of forms to analyze lightsaber battles feels like the D&D dependence on classes to define, yet limit, what a character can learn to do. I prefer an approach to the concept more akin to GURPS or Champions (Jeet Kun Do compared to Wing Chun Kung Fu might be a better example, but I am far more conversant in TTRPG rulesets than real life martial arts, so I'll stick to my area of specialization). Adherence to any limitation of forms or refusal to study is simply a failure of preparation in my opinion, with actual combat depending more on one's ability to adapt, improvise, and overcome (Sgt Highway) rather than respect for tradition for the sake of tradition.
The luxury of valuing how a fight is won is reserved solely for the victor.

Weird that Trakata is looked down upon now by both Jedi and Sith, despite it being an apparently acceptable technique within the lightsabers forms in the _Path of the Jedi_ book. Anyway. Have yet to actually watch the show yet, trying to convince myself I should just to see if it's as bad as many say. But this mask? Really? I mean... really?! Are those supposed to be fangs? What is he, Darth Freddy Kreuger? Vader's mask was iconic but it served a purpose, he needed it to breathe along with the rest of the suit. Kylo Ren's mask was an homage to grandpa Vader because he was a damn fanboy. Goofy but not too bad... But this... dime store Halloween biker helmet? That's not just silly it's... uninspired. Something a gradeschooler could have thought up, not the great creative geniuses that are making a multi million dollar show... Nihilus was intimidating because it let you see that behind the mask there was nothing but emptiness. Revan's mask was a mark of his commitment to defeat the Mandalorians. Sith masks are functional, symbolic or both. And I have doubts there's any of that behind this guy's mask... but hey, maybe I'm wrong. Yes, this was about his fighting style, kinda underhanded and not too atypical for a Sith. As for this guy's use of Tràkata... I seem to recall a video mentioning that Sith generally were not fond of this sort of style, hidden blade or deactivating lightsabers only to reactivate them to land a killing blow. Though that may only be some Sith's opinions on it. To me, it would not be about honour to not fight so underhanded but about pride. If the only way you can beat an opponent is using tricks then you both lose. But again, sneaky strategies are not something a Sith would avoid. But they're more assassin techniques than marauder, to use Old Republic terminology.

  • @aurelcorstan5242

The very concept of "Honor" is a conceited and luxurious idea that can *only* be developed by people and culture groups who have obtained such a lack of concern about their daily survival that they can start making up imaginary rules about what is and isn't acceptable when fighting for one's life.
And it's almost always the Royalty/Nobility/Aristocracy/Ruling Class that come up with it. Chivalry, Bushido, etc. Those are cushy rich people ideas. Not ideas from people literally fighting for survival on a regular basis, doing *whatever* it takes to survive.
Bruce Lee said something along the lines of their being no rules in a fight for your life except to win. And that's what makes Qimir so devastating to these Jedi. His goal is to win and survive. These Jedi, especially at this point in history, can't even imagine what that's like and will always be at a great disadvantage because of it.

As far as turning the blade on or off? When they did it in the sequel trilogy (throne room fight with the guards,) I couldn't help but think "ok, that makes perfect sense for these sorts of weapons - why would they be on all the time given force-user skills, foresight, etc?" I'd love to see a "duel" of fakes- where a blade's only going to be extended once when a killing strike's about to happen. So... yeah, I'm for it.

I think the design of the helmet looks whack, specifically the smile. The show writers should have explained about cortosis before the fight scene instead of hoping that viewers would be legacy Star Wars fans who already were aware of the properties of cortosis. Its kind of hypocritical that Lucasfilm writers and the showrunner openly dismiss legacy Star Wars fans in search of a new demographic audience while simultaneously relying on legacy fans to undertstand the intricacies of the story. Until The Acolyte, Cortosis was a material from Legends and no one but HARDCORE Star Wars fans would have any idea it exisited. Also, the Stranger could have easily parried with his lightsaber instead of headbutting the blade, but the headbutt was more dramatic.

But using trakata is not only “dishonorable”, but far beyond that it is an admission that the user is vastly outmatched in its purest form!
Cheap trick or not: you must admit that Qimir fixed the greatest practical flaw in trakata: its momentary lack of defense. Qimir fixed that problem by keeping one blade stopping the opponent, and the other for killing the opponent.
Almost everyone has overlooked that 8 Jedi tried to swarm him and overwhelm him with sheer numbers, yet he prevailed! He used every trick at his disposal but he not only survived, but he embarrassed the Jedi!

What the f is form seven djem tso? Do u even think about ur script or r u just throwing star warsy words at random?
    That's not form 7.
If u meant the form but mistook the name, it makes it even worse cuz ur whole premisse turns bs.
Besides the form7 that windu claimed to have invented, being not around as his version cuz he wasn't - his form7 was only a castrated n rebranded jedi version of the real form7.
That form was the one actual sith created form, that was totally alien 4 the jedi n impossible to use for'em (including windu) cuz it demands the user to channel the dark side.
The thing windu did to make it a jedi form actually crippled the strongest aspect of it.
However, the important point here is, that it obviously isn't hated by sith or they wouldn't have invented it to begin with.
The reason to do so is obviously the need for things that non of the 6 known styles (actually seven with form5 being 2 very different sub forms) provided even in the highly agressive forms 1 n 5 that already were to nearly dark 4 some jedi.
So in that context most sith would either apprecheate the real form7 which gives them a thing they wanted or they'd b indifferent if they found the existing forms enough... What's totally unlikely is an sctive distain 4 it. Not only were they free to use the others but also wouldn't they never face a jedi who uses it, before windu.
Agsinst ither sith could b the only scenario that makes 'em face form7 which during bane's era is not an option.
So ur title is not just a lil' incorrect but absolutely free from any logic on several levels - total bs at best, willingly misleading most likely.
Purely spewing of baity titles that sometimes haven't to do with the video at all n very often either fail to deliver the explanation to the adventurous titles, or it even explains itself the actual lore which debunks the title as if it's no difference if ur viewers get what they picked ur stuff for but the opposite instead.

The Sith and Jedi both valued skill and...well, not honor exactly, while it was honor for the jedi, it was more bravery for the Sith. For example, there was a technique where you flicked your lightsaber off and on again to go through your opponents blade. Neither a jedi OR a sith would ever be caught dead doing it. For the jedi, it was dishonorable, for the sith it was cowardly. Either way it wasn't something they wanted to be accused of. Sure, if they just killed all the witnesses, no one would ever know, but don't forget that the force visions were a thing, but doing such a thing would most likely get out witnesses or no.

How exactly would you use it? Turn off light saber before block= get slashed by the opponent.
Turn off light saber when opponent holding your sword down? Why not just turn your blade around theirs and cut?
Any situation where this would not be an immediate blunder you are better off just cutting the opponent up and not wasting time turning your blade on and off.

although the saber duel was an big improvement on what Disney has ever done, I'm hearing that they are going to replace Darth Plagueis or Darth Tenebrous with Mother Aniseya or Mother Koril.. going to be honest but that would really suck as the book darth Plagueis is an amazing book... if that's what they are going to do Disney has literally put Star Wars in the toilet..

    Short version of the video-
Both sith and Jedi- “we’re mad at people who use tricks and underhanded techniques because it counters master who work on nothing but skill, so we’re gonna get mad at anybody who uses those tactics, because we think skill makes anything and we’ll be crabby any time we’re beaten with anything other than skill”
