Cognus is an obvious reference to her abilities but Zannah was just her real name, nothing ominous. Bane named himself so because his father insulted him many times as "bane of his life" bane was angry and as he was strong in the dark side already without knowing it he cursed and wished one night for his father's demise and it worked :)
I heard that the author didn't intend for Bane to have succeeded, and that Zannah's arm tingle was more just a sign that some part of Bane had affected her, that something of her master would be part of her spirit, but that she was still in control.
In my mind this played out as Bane being somewhat of a spectre within the mind of Zannah that would occasionally comment on what she was doing. Kinda like how Bane kept seeing the former trainers of the Sith Academy after he pulled his thoughtbomb gambit.
Wasn't intended to be, but it was left unclear. Sometimes authors are unaware of the lore they leave behind until it's out there in the world. So I'd say both options are entirely valid.

I like how wave makes the distinction that sideous’s death was actually perpetrated by anakin and not darth vader, I’m seeing that more and more recently as people are starting to categorize them as two beings as opposed to one, anakin fully locked and transformed into vader when the flames of mustafar baptized him into his new persona, anakin would not be seen for decades except for the few momentary peeps to the surface when vader let his guard down or let his emotions fluctuate to closely to anakins thoughts and heart, the last time we saw anakin before that was him momentarily floating to the top whilst talking to padme on mustafar before being violently shoved back down by vader when he saw Obi wan, the next and even more brief instant was when he was talking to Ashoka when they were both after that holocron with Ezra, after that or before I’m not sure time wise but I think actually before the Ashoka thing was when Obi Wan had given anakin that real genuine apoloy during their fight
The fact that thumble contained the words old age and poison is exactly why the rule of 2 failed and an example of why the old Sith was much more powerful.
The old Sith were very powerful, and at large were better than a majority of the rule of 2 Sith. A significant amount of the ancient Sith were blindsided by their hubris, avarice, and rage, they would sooner risk the order than themselves. The dark side is like a poison; it’s more potent when concentrated than distributed among the masses (Darth Bane himself stated this). Some deaths in the rule of 2 may seem like cheap victories, but the master still allowed the apprentice to kill them.
Choose someone with more patience, and you will never block the blade at your throat. Choose someone more devious than you, and you will hold the blade that kills you. Choose someone more clever, and you will never know your end. The warnings of Darth Sidious are better seen as the prerequisites for choosing a proper apprentice, O Master, for so you choose how that apprentice shall end you.
Plagueis is in legends territory still, the name and species given in the novel was Sheev's knowledge alone and he may never told Anakin about such details.

Instead, she trained a 2nd apprentice. Centuries later, Darth Gravid never fought and killed his master, Darth Vectivus. Instead, Vectivus retired after promoting Gravid to Dark Lord. According to an old Wookieepedia page, Ventivus died 5 years AFTER Darth Gean, Gravid's apprentice, did. Many times, the apprentice even had an apprentice. Darth Vader violated it by calling himself a Dark Lord. According to the Rule of Two, Vader had to earn the title by fighting and killing his master, Darth Sidious. Sidious violated it many times; by not properly training Vader, and having several apprentices at once.
Zannah waited until Bane started to weaken to challenge him. So they were both cutting corners. Bane really violated the rule when he attempted the essence transfer. He was not accepting his own defeat in a fair fight.
@kirkdavis2881 she wasn't waiting until he declined. It would've been impossible to defeat him while he was covered in the orbelisks for one. And he mistakenly believed she was complacent when in reality, she was already planning for the match and searching for an apprentice first.
Rule of two, bar the first duel between Bane and Zannah made it members have to generally become cunning, Machiavellian and devious and totally innovative when it came to finding ways to take down their masters, when the least expected it or the dark side of the force dictated it was time to act.
6:50 Drew Karpyshyn did make a statement about the end of Dynasty of Evil after it came out to clear up rumors. He said Darth Zannah won the fight. Bane winning and passing on all the way to Palpatine kinda undermines the Rule of Two principles. The fist clinch Zannah does at the end that Bane did was letting the reader know that even tho the essence transfer failed, some part of Bane still remained.
After Vectivis death his apprentice though a failure still trained another apprentice who eventually killed him or her and probably reminded him or her of their failure before killing them

I think an interesting video to discuss would be the insane genius and technological marvel of the Death Star. A moon sized space station, having the power to destroy planets, and it only had one exhaust port. An entirely necessary part of any invention such as the DS, and all of it in one small port no larger than a womo rat. Forget the Force, that is the true marvel
Is interesting how despite wanting to be the strongest sith still kept records of what they learned for other sith to study & ultimately become stronger than those who wrote the records
Bane himself was not learned in sith alchemy, so he had to train Zannah with hoarded ancient knowledge he knew next to nothing about and Zannah studied on her own. Zannah on the other hand could not teach much about aggressive lightsaber combat, so it seems the Rule of Two was also a Rule of Second Hand Wisdom and Hearsay for 99% of its time IMHO
@@rivenoakcognus was in possession of banes holocron and she would study every bit of his knowledge. she considered it her most prized possession. bane was her first master after all.
More videos about revan would be pretty dope. Idk if you've done one about where he actually got his mask but that would be cool. Or about when he helped recover the helm of Mandalore.
The Muun jaking the Bith in the cortosis caverns is always gonna be one of my favorites. He just went full Cena and was like " you can't see me, my time is now!".
I honestly would choose the "Let the master die of old age" method, IF it were me in the apprentice role. I figure that the master might be withholding knowledge, and that I would still have alot to learn before said master died. I would want as much of that knowledge as I could glean in the time I had with said master, so I would draw it out. Always keep him looking over his or her shoulder, however.
If I was a Sith Apprentice, I certainly wouldn't be daft enough to share my methods of taking out my Master in the comments section on UA-cam where anyone - including my master - could read it
What's funny is how the Rule of Two seems to have primarily caused the Sith to become weaker, rather than stronger and it is in this weakness that they were able to go unnoticed until it was too late.
This is very interesting. Great holocron! Very interesting history of the Sith. So many apprentices and masters. Plagueis's biggest mistake was-sleeping on the couch of Palpatine, his friend. Palpatine ended Rule of Two. He was killed and that is. May the Force be with you too😊
James Luceno is a goat because not only did he connect Darth Sidious and Darth Plaguies to the Phantom Menace but he essentially gave us all the characters and their back story in between Palpatine and Bane that we hear about this video.
My impression from the movie is that Palpatine killed his master years before. He was already in control of everything going all the way back to the order given for the clone army, and before that with his rise in Naboo's government.
Sith empire are way more cooler, better stories and way more powerful Sith. (i know Lucas and Disney states otherwise but their words after all the trash they made or done makes their arguments invalid, plus they dont even know the old republic era)
It was said by traya that force users become more powerful when they are at war all the time same happened to anakin and obi wan during the clone wars @Vakaria-plays
The sith of old were great but by feats they weren't more powerful as Darth Bane the weakest rule of 2 sith pulled a moon the size of a planet, plaguies froze naboo in ice by just his presence, produced a nexus from himself that was greater than multiple planetary darkside nexus' all together, Sidious shook a planet, stars and formed a constellation, darkened the whole galaxy in the darkside with his power in the force, and Vader casually destroyed a moon. Vitiate and nihilus have the best feats in the old republic and thier best is planet surface level not even planetary and it should be noted vitiate drained ziost with aid,not his own power.
@F3AN0RXINFERN0 dude most of the old sith lords were star boosters exar kun was a dark side nexus himself that his dark power was affecting the fabric of the old republic and the cosmic force, marka ragnos didn't consider plagueis and papaltine worthy of his time, Karnes murr spirit was more powerful than return of the jedi emperor papaltine, plagueis admitted on his book that he wasn't as great at sorcery as naga sadow freedon nadd and exar kun he also thought they were more powerful bane will get obliterated by tulak hord
My problem would be the doubt of if my master shared all his knowledge and secrets or not, I would want to extract everything, every little nugget of knowledge my master could have.
Here is an idea for you... one of my all time favorite Star Wars fan films is Versus The way to shadow... Anyway it chronicles a Jedi by the name of Darius who struggles with his dark side. Darius and his opponents use light Sabres which appear different.. the hilt is thinner and not as long. I get that it's just a fan film, but is it possible in the lore that light Sabres were built this way?.. I encourage a review of this film regardless as , at least in my opinion, it is one of the best star wars stories on film (btw too it's in French with English subs).
Are all the rule of 2 sith the same body snatching entity since Sidious is "all the sith"? Would be kind of a fun explaination for why that system exists i think
Guile, Strength, Deviouness, Misdirection. This is the way of the Sith, but without patience, it's all for not. Bane: defeat thru Devious use of the force, Tenebrous and Plagueis: Misdirection.
Interesting question at the end, what would I do? Well, I see myself as a moderate duelist, but more of a sith sorcerer, so lets start there. As an apprentice, I would probably subtly and slowly over time lay dozens of hexes and curses upon my master, slowly making them paranoid and insane, causing them insomnia and hallucinations that become more vivid and horrific over time. When his mind finally snapped, I would steal his life force and add it to my own. As a master, I would enchant and trap my lair and/or ship with hundreds of wards and sith spells that would ensare, sap, electrocute, and cause my apprentice even more horrific visions and insanity than my master saw, (as well as droid gaurds and automated defenses throughout) and attempt to break them entirely before they could ever reach my chambers.
Can you do a video on GAR Contingency Order Order 65 and if enacted, would it have succeded or was Sidious too powerful to be taken out by the GAR or the Senate?
A Holocron detailing Shaak Ti cheating death… waking up in a room where some strange human was cutting at thin strips of dark plastic as a pale looking Chairman Papanoida was looking over his shoulder.

If Darth Vectivus Died of Old Age surrounded by Friends and Family, Then it Stands to Reason that He did Not have to Kill His Own Master, His Own Master May Simply have Did of Old Age, Accident. or Illness.
Its sounding like there's a notable gap, the MOST notable, between Gravid an Vectivus.. OR do we KNOW how many other Sith between them there is, whom any are, or any other details between these 2??
Lmao Sidious had some nice advice except he didn't count for raw power and will power! Vader said "Screw it, imma take out the trash!" Sidious: "No! But my Force Lighting!!" Darth Vader: "Then we both die!" Sidious: "Thats not Very Sith of You!!" Darth Vader" *I KNOW* Sidious: " *NOOOO* "
There needs to be a comic book or novel that explores the reign of Tulak Hord, there's very little known about Tulak Hord's life besides from what we know.
it is clear that Disney is going to do nothing with this Lore. i wish we fans would definitively flesh out and finish the Banite Sith line by creating Sith Lords and histories to bridge the timeline and finish the 1004 years between the birth of Darth Bane and the death of Darth Vader. we need to take control of the Expanded Universe.
I think maybe Vectivus's apprentice had a hand in his death, and they whittled away at his health with something like Morichro, so he died in a 'peaceful' manner whilst the apprentice conquered the master in a legitimate way
What if bane and zanna melded together rather than one triumphing over the other? Perhaps they were so even in battle that their consciousness’s melded. That could be a great explanation for why the rule of two became so successful
Bane's method was genius, although if both sith lords had died at anytime they would've been up shit's creek without a paddle. Idk maybe he could have partnered up with one sith as wise as him and have them do the same thing so there were 2 rule of 2 sith groups, in case one died off? Although that would just cause infighting and competition and hindered them, so idk what the solution to that is.
There is some unspoken rule about that. When there is too many the force “balances” itself out. Sidious knew this and that’s why he went after Maul and Savage. They were threatening his master plan and knew he had to take them out. It just isn’t supposed to work, that’s why it’s the Rule of Two. But during the old republic, there was the Sith Empire on Korriban. So I’m not sure how that worked. The army was probably not properly trained in Sith ways. Same with the Inquisitors, they weren’t necessarily full on “Sith”
Exar kun not only destroyed freedon nadd spirit but absorbed all the knowledge he accumulated for over 100 years and absorbed his mystical power nadd had all the knowledge and skills from naga sadow
I have a question maybe someone that read the novels and is more knowledgeable can answer for me im a little confused with the timeline with Sidious did he have 3 apprentice at one time being darth maul tyrannous and Anakin what's the time difference between them
The writer of the novels stated later that Zannah had won, siting the tremors in her hand as simply the effects of the dark side's corruption that had been foreshadowed in the novels with the same thing happening earlier to Bane. This was seen by many as a potential sign of the essence transfer working but according to the author this wasn't the case and instead the ritual failed. Hmm if one of them died without being defeated in any way, dying of old age, and he we never knew his apprentice... Wouldn't that mean the lineage ended? So maybe it started again with someone finding Bane's holocron or something. This part of the lore is very weird. A holocron seams to be the only way this makes any sense, it being found and continuing the lineage.

You left out the whole bit about Tenebrous having to relive his death again and again in and endless loop, forever
Content starts at 3:59.
More videos about revan would be pretty dope. Idk if you've done one about where he actually got his mask but that would be cool. Or about when he helped recover the helm of Mandalore.
I would like to see videos of each of the fighting styles of individual Sith or Jedi how they adapt and changed and used the force in combat.
The Muun jaking the Bith in the cortosis caverns is always gonna be one of my favorites. He just went full Cena and was like " you can't see me, my time is now!".
The masters typically make the mistake of being to close to their appearances being their friends
Bane: “I was only using 10% of my power”
If I was a Sith Apprentice, I certainly wouldn't be daft enough to share my methods of taking out my Master in the comments section on UA-cam where anyone - including my master - could read it
Did I hear "Darth Fromage" at 12:20? If so that's instantly my favorite Sith :D
That's what I heard, too. It's cheesy.
Can't believe I've been with this channel since 300ksubs 😶🌫️ now look at this empire
Quite the lineage of backstabbing and betrayal.
10:41 That sith lord kinda looks like Chris Hemsworth XD
Still can’t decide if the rule of two sith are cooler than the sith empire
Like the sith empire
How about a video on Force bonds? Like the type formed between students and master.
Patience and cunning, at the end of my crimson saber. The true way.
Nice video! Say I don't know how in depth this could go, but could you possible dig up a holocron on the ability Force Rage?
My problem would be the doubt of if my master shared all his knowledge and secrets or not, I would want to extract everything, every little nugget of knowledge my master could have.
That was a weakness of the Sith. They were unstable since the goal of the apprentice was to kill her/his master.
Nice to see theres sw youtube contemt thats not grown men constantly crying lol
Here is an idea for you... one of my all time favorite Star Wars fan films is Versus The way to shadow... Anyway it chronicles a Jedi by the name of Darius who struggles with his dark side. Darius and his opponents use light Sabres which appear different.. the hilt is thinner and not as long. I get that it's just a fan film, but is it possible in the lore that light Sabres were built this way?.. I encourage a review of this film regardless as , at least in my opinion, it is one of the best star wars stories on film (btw too it's in French with English subs).
The rule of 2 remains profoundly stupid
Darth Plagueis knew about Darth Maul? Their were three of them. The rule of two was already over.
This should be renamed to “what could possibly go wrong?” rule.
Can you do a video on HOW force powers are created, and who can CREATE them
Can you do a video on GAR Contingency Order Order 65 and if enacted, would it have succeded or was Sidious too powerful to be taken out by the GAR or the Senate?
A Holocron detailing Shaak Ti cheating death… waking up in a room where some strange human was cutting at thin strips of dark plastic as a pale looking Chairman Papanoida was looking over his shoulder.
The Sith retirement package.
Wow that was a cool poison duel!
I really wish they would write a novel on Zannahs story after Bane
Drew asked for it multiple times and Disney/Lucasfilm denied it
@Hello-bi1pm but yet Darthleen Kennedy says there are no Powerful Women in Star Wars to represent Women,...hello..
I-I have a crush on Darth Zannah, Shaak Ti, and Ayla secure.
You need to get out more
Homie, as a fellow nerd, please get outside, go for a hike or something, it's good for your mental state
You clearly haven’t seen my comments on other videos.

Vader said "Screw it, imma take out the trash!"
Sidious: "No! But my Force Lighting!!"
Darth Vader: "Then we both die!"
Sidious: "Thats not Very Sith of You!!"
Darth Vader" *I KNOW*
Sidious: " *NOOOO* "
What about failed attempts? Every sith student who was too confident that they became more powerful than their master
But then you'll have fans arguing about their theories
Was secretly hoping at least one Sith Lord would have a lame death like dying on the toilet or drowning in a 2 inch deep puddle of water 😂
“No Master it tastes okay to me.’
I think maybe Vectivus's apprentice had a hand in his death, and they whittled away at his health with something like Morichro, so he died in a 'peaceful' manner whilst the apprentice conquered the master in a legitimate way
I wish you would've added Darth Caedus as the last official sith in the rule of two.
What if bane and zanna melded together rather than one triumphing over the other? Perhaps they were so even in battle that their consciousness’s melded. That could be a great explanation for why the rule of two became so successful
I then to think Gravid was Vectivis apprentice and son.
@@HookersAndCoke naaaaah, the old republic era sith were badass, not weaklings like bane's masters in the Brotherhood under Skere Kaan.
Exar kun not only destroyed freedon nadd spirit but absorbed all the knowledge he accumulated for over 100 years and absorbed his mystical power nadd had all the knowledge and skills from naga sadow
Darth Bane trilogy books are masterpiece. I hope disney never touch them.
disney did already to some extent to set up a meeting between Yoda and the spirit of Bane.
@@rivenoakthat was before Disney
An idea for a future episode in legends of events following return of the jedi. All the sith lords that luke faced and defeated.
