I love your channel. I never watched so much chess on UA-cam before. Your narrating is very good, and the way to explain things are concise and to the point. Thank you so much for your contributions to chess.
More to the point, in chess you have limited time for your moves. While details differ, the main idea is this: you get 2 hours to think about your first 40 moves, another hour for the next 20, half an hour for the rest. Quite commonly, a player needs a lot of time in midgame for some complicated position or trying to calculate whether some sacrifice would work. Which means they are incredibly short on time, say 3 minutes left after the 32nd move - 8 moves left until 40 - or something like that. So you cannot really calculate a lot of stuff anymore. But if you somehow manage to make these 8 moves, you'll get another hour, allowing for another deep think. This is where you look, especially if in a better position, for some repetitions to pass moves without losing much time.
Discovered this channel yesterday and I'm a fan already! I've loved chess from the core of my heart and planning to resume my practice after final exams. Love your channel ❤
"You see, black pieces have a preset capture limit. Knowing their weakness, I sent wave after wave of my own pieces at them until they reached their limit and resigned"
Wow.. I just found your channel. I love it. I've been playing chess for 17 years. My best chess match ever ended with my opponent (black) opening a pawn 2 squares, which allowed me to do "Pawn en passant" resulting in my Queen opening up for a discovery Check mate. It was absolutely beautiful.
More insane games I've seen: 1. FZVKvcKB_To human wins against best chess engine in the world 2. lFXJWPhDsSY, chess engine wins aginst other chess engine by trapping the queen.
At 3:00 how specifically would that be catastrophic for black? After Re7, black's only legal move is Kd8, after which the only immediate threat I see is Rxc8 and possibly trying some fork between the king and queen using d-pawn and remaining rook, but I'm not sure how to force it unless black mistakenly takes the rook with Kxc8
The immediate threat is Qxb4, which threatens mate in 2: Qa5+ and now the black queen has to block. Whatever square it blocks on, the queen can capture it and checkmate. The best move in the position is Nd7, which is the move that should have been played before, but it still loses to Qa5+ Nb6 Rb8, threatening Rxb6 and picking up the queen. The computer's best suggestion for a continuation is exf2+ Kxf2 Nf4, but now Rc7 and you can either save the queen and be checkmated shortly or lose the queen. The best solution is Qxc7 dxc7 Ke7 (trying to run to safety-the pawn can't be captured because of Qxb6+) and now white replies with cxb6. Now there are two connected passed pawns, the bishop is pinned because moving it hangs the rook on h8 and b7 is coming. Eventually one of these two pawns will promote. You can even sac the exchange with Rxc8 Rxc8 b7, and now there's no hope to prevent a promotion. You can capture the pawn at c7, but the b-pawn will promote, or you can move somewhere else on the back rank, in which case it will be c8Q, Rxc8, bxc8Q.
Except the joke isn't funny bc Noone in chess history has ever sacrificed a king. The king is always alive. Check mate always ends the match instantly, there is no move made after that

That last move Be3+ goes to show you that you really have to keep your wits about you even after gaining a huge advantage either materially or positionally or both, you must thoroughly and with complete certainty secure a win when winning. Surprises like that happen in chess more often than you think, especially at higher levels.
I feel like White didn't actually sacrifice the knight on f2, since it was just an exchange of knight for knight at that point. Just to be pedantic. Not to say it wasn't an amazing game worth watching twice!
it's worth noting that white sacrificed all of his pieces and also one queen from promoted pawn. so basically he sacrificed more material than he had while starting a game. well done
the b8 square is guarded by the d7 knight (idt sacrificing the rook followed by Re7+ would get anywhere, unlike Re7+ the previous turn). but "even if it wasnt" that might be a little slow for example it would allow black to castle and after ...0-0 suddenly blacks defensive position rly doesnt look that bad, the king can go to h7 later if needed, the c8 bishop is no longer pinned so ...Bb7 is a possible move (depending on what white does ofc) forcing a trade of rooks, ...Nxc5 might be possible and obv that pawn is very valuable as well as opening up the c8 bishop to be developed somewhere else (as b7 is arguably not the best square for it), as well as ofc white's e3 bishop is still hanging and has nowhere to go. white doubling rooks on the 8th rank wouldnt rly be a threat here as the c8 bishop is guarded twice and is also no longer pinned so can always go to b7 and the f8 rook is guarded twice as well. this shows the importance of Rxc8+ that was played in the game as it removes the black queen from defense of the d5 square and after ...Qxc8 Qd5 whites queen is on the crucial a2-g8 diagonal preventing black from either castling or moving ...Kf7 after Qd5 black maybe had better options that what it played (...fxe6) but the king will regardless have real problems being stuck in the center. ...Nhf6 seems to me like a good option, obv white cannot go for immediate Rh8 as black simply plays Nxd5 trading queens and the black king will go to f7 then e6 white will not be able to promote before the king catches up (if white trades rooks and went for immediate c6 and c7 the black knight can just go to b6 defending c8 while the king is guarding the d7 square) and black will be up a piece and should be winning. white has to move the queen and probably just plays Qe6+ to immediately prevent castling [as there is no advantage to retreating on the a2-h7 diagonal (Qa2 to maintain the threat of Ra8 doesnt work due to ...b3, if Qxb3 then black playes ...Nxc5 and otherwise black castles).] after Qe6+ Kf8 although the position looks bad for black, white cannot play c6 as the pawn hangs since white's queen no longer guards that square and black's plan is to play Qe8 offering a queen trade and if white declines the trade to then play Qf7 again offering a queen trade and occupying the important a2-h7 diagonal while Ra8+ can be defended with ...Ne8. however the passed pawns are obv very strong and black will almost certainly have to at least sac a piece to defend them and it still seems extremely advantageous for white

hey got a question. at 5:00 why doesn't black play bishopp two left/down? preventing, if he were to capture the queen, the promoting of the pawn?
King sacrifice is very rare😀😀😀😀
Just found your channel recently as I am learning about chess... very great accent you have and great analysis and commentary too!!
must have gotten these moves from the book of George R. R. Martin
it's worth noting that white sacrificed all of his pieces and also one queen from promoted pawn. so basically he sacrificed more material than he had while starting a game. well done
Mr. Bean??
I always watch all your ads because I like your content and your personality. And I want to promote the great game we all love.
Did anybody let him know that those were HIS pieces and not imaginary? 😂
3:17 why didn’t he move his rook b8 then his other a8? Couldn’t he have forced a check and taken the queen after taking out the bishop?
the b8 square is guarded by the d7 knight (idt sacrificing the rook followed by Re7+ would get anywhere, unlike Re7+ the previous turn). but "even if it wasnt" that might be a little slow for example it would allow black to castle and after ...0-0 suddenly blacks defensive position rly doesnt look that bad, the king can go to h7 later if needed, the c8 bishop is no longer pinned so ...Bb7 is a possible move (depending on what white does ofc) forcing a trade of rooks, ...Nxc5 might be possible and obv that pawn is very valuable as well as opening up the c8 bishop to be developed somewhere else (as b7 is arguably not the best square for it), as well as ofc white's e3 bishop is still hanging and has nowhere to go.
white doubling rooks on the 8th rank wouldnt rly be a threat here as the c8 bishop is guarded twice and is also no longer pinned so can always go to b7 and the f8 rook is guarded twice as well.
this shows the importance of Rxc8+ that was played in the game as it removes the black queen from defense of the d5 square and after ...Qxc8 Qd5 whites queen is on the crucial a2-g8 diagonal preventing black from either castling or moving ...Kf7
after Qd5 black maybe had better options that what it played (...fxe6) but the king will regardless have real problems being stuck in the center. ...Nhf6 seems to me like a good option, obv white cannot go for immediate Rh8 as black simply plays Nxd5 trading queens and the black king will go to f7 then e6 white will not be able to promote before the king catches up (if white trades rooks and went for immediate c6 and c7 the black knight can just go to b6 defending c8 while the king is guarding the d7 square) and black will be up a piece and should be winning. white has to move the queen and probably just plays Qe6+ to immediately prevent castling [as there is no advantage to retreating on the a2-h7 diagonal (Qa2 to maintain the threat of Ra8 doesnt work due to ...b3, if Qxb3 then black playes ...Nxc5 and otherwise black castles).]
after Qe6+ Kf8 although the position looks bad for black, white cannot play c6 as the pawn hangs since white's queen no longer guards that square and black's plan is to play Qe8 offering a queen trade and if white declines the trade to then play Qf7 again offering a queen trade and occupying the important a2-h7 diagonal while Ra8+ can be defended with ...Ne8. however the passed pawns are obv very strong and black will almost certainly have to at least sac a piece to defend them and it still seems extremely advantageous for white
Q: How many pieces you wanna sacrifice?
A: YES.
Underrated
I appreciate your channel and the way you do it. Cheers
A superb romantic game based on mind boggling anticipations!!!!!
