Loud cicadas in the background. Love the sound. I’ve experienced 2 different huge broods of cicadas. For 2-3 loud weeks day and night. Finally I see how to stop my riding lawnmower from surging. Thanks for the information
Great video. My Husqvarna lgt2554 started doing the same thing, surging, running rough. I tuned it up just recently. The mower is ,11 year's old and been really good. I will try to drain the gas, add new gas and Seafoam, and see if that fixes it. Thank you, John
Most of the time it's just dirt in the small passages that causes the engine surging. I first run Seafoam thru it and it usually will clear it up. But if it's really plugged, you may have to remove the carb or atleast take out the needle valves and clean them with an air compressor or I like to use an old guitar string thru the jet to clean the gunk or dirt out.
My Husqvarna 24v48 started surging real bad one day only 8 yrs old, i ordered a carb rebuild kit cleaned everything out and put it back together and it purrs like a kitten. I also installed a fuel shutoff valve under the seat for winter so my carb won't gum up anymore.
We have a V twin but the mower looks identical and we’re having the same surging issues but only at heavy throttle. We’ve cleaned the carburetor and put on new filters. It is a bit better but still surging at full power. Any other ideas? Should I attempt to clean the carb again? My grass is turning into a damn rainforest so looking forward to a speedy response.....
@@jeffpattersonmadcityvideos3413 took off the carb and cleaned it again and the dang thing is spotless but not it’s surging at idle speed and not full throttle lol. I guess that’s better tho because I was at least able to cut the lawn. I did drain the tank and clean it and bought new gas. The only thing I haven’t tried is the sea foam. I’ll try that next. Thanks for the info
Have a Husqvarna with a Briggs engine. It started surging and least affected at full throttle. Cleaned air filter and still the same then got some Seafoam and added about 1/4 bottle to a nearly full tank and ran for about 15 seconds and stopped surging. Nothing ever works out so easy for me.
Ethanol mixesvwith water from the atmosphere so e10 gas can go bad if it sits. Tin hatters think its a conspiracy to prevent fuel hoarding. But its just an unfortunate side effect. Try to find a place that sells farm gas with no ethanol or buy smaller amounts of fuel more often so nothing sits in the tank for too long. I installed a spigot and outlet tube on my fuel tank so i can drain the tank for the winter or when i know it wont be used for a while. Another issue i have is the mower starter plunger can get dust in it and leave you wondering why your tractor wont start. Turn the key to start and cycle the blade swith a few times before you go checking all tge other safety switches.
I wonder why nobody ever mentions the bolts on the sump cover on the top of the engine. I. Have not had one of those engines that I didn't have to tighten the bolts that I could get to. Believe me that they will and do back out. The front ones back out far enough to hit the flywheel and Crack the the engine housing. So if you see a bunch of oil coming from the top of that engine you had better pull the cover off and check the bolts. Hopefully you will catch it before it contacts the flywheel and cracking the caseing ruining the motor.
The pilot jet is what is blocked. It's the smallest part to those carbs so it's the first to block up. The other problem is obviously the contaminated fuel and the red fuel filter isn't a good one as it's just a screen mesh not a pleated filter which would catch all of that contamination.
@@jeffpattersonmadcityvideos3413 it doesnt surge when i have blades running. It mostly just surges when its idling. Once i get gas running through it with driving or running blades it stops. Im so lost.
Hey I forgot to move the camera, I drained the water out of the carb and used carb cleaner and that was the fix. I got caught up in what went down. Thanks for watchin'.
Thanks for the video. It was a big help. I have the same problem with my Husqvarna and now I know what to look for.
Big help for me sir, thank you kindly! Same with me started when I added fuel I had sitting for three months. I thank you big time !
Glad to help, thanks for watching.

I have a husqvarna also and it’s surging I will try the sea foam first with new gas this video is helpful thanks
Good luck.
Seafoam is amazing. I use it in all of my small engines, quad, tractor, cars and boats.
Hey, Seafoam is great, I use it too.
Big clue. Try to show the area you are working on in the camera frame
Would like to have seen more of what you did inside the carb. liked your video. Thanks
All I did was turn the carb upside down to drain the gas and the water out, then sprayed it good with carb cleaner.(sorry for showing that)

I would drain the gas tank and the fuel lines, add Seafoam and fresh gas.

Just needed to drain the carb bowl, it’s full of water. Sometimes there’s a drain, if not just drop the bowl, empty, reinstall....
If there's water in the tank you gotta drain it too.

The term you're looking for is hygroscopic. E10 is a no-no with these engines. It says it right on the fuel cap.

How did you get all that trash in your gas?? And I didn't see or learn anything about cleaning any valaves in the carb!! Not much help!

mower starts and runs. runs rough. blows out black smoke. and loses power.
Bad gas. Get it out and put a can of real gas in it. Done!
That`s right.
Oh wow you fixed it but you never show us what you did
Low speed jet in the carb
Water in Carb.
I see this all the time. Why do people not check the inside of their gas cans. E10 fuel and condensation will collect water in the can or fuel tank.
Seafoam works good.
any suggestions ?
Sounds like it's flooden out.
Does bad plugs make the engine surge?
Usually you would have a rough idle and bad performance.
@@jeffpattersonmadcityvideos3413 mine is not even 3 years old and surges bad. I can't afford to take it to shop right now
