Thank you Rough Country! I lifted my 07 Sierra Classic and it was flawless! This video is epic and helped me a great deal. What a great company having such a detail video to help. The kit went in NO issue and truck looks great!
i have dealt with rough country for years I have this lift on my 02 Silverado very happy with it well worth the money took me 3 days all by myself.. not as hard as it looks outta all honesty. I recommend also getting the steering stabilizer an hd tie rods for another $80
I thought the same thing but also thought might be smart to change cv shafts, rotors and brakes as well that truck looks like it most likely hasn't been serviced properly with all the rust and shit
It ain't too bad. Speaking out of experience: if you don't own one, rent one from Home Depot or your local hardware store. Be sure to buy the better quality torch blades from Milwaukee or any brand really, just make sure it's a high end blade. I went through 3 of them. Put on some eye protection and music and get to work 👍
Man, I gotta hand it to you!!! You really did a great job with this video! You named all the size sockets, wrenches and torque specs!!! I did mine from the instructions and only stumbled across this jem of a video afterwords... Great job!!!
currently doing this lift kit with my dad. not as hard as everyone is making it seem like, couple bumps in the road but we are almost finished. Great and very helpful video. and the most important, bonding time with deddy
I have just installed this kit on my 2007 Silverado classic and it took me roughly 20 hours to get it completed. I live in Michigan so everything was seazed together and rusty. Additionally no suspension components had ever been replaced due to it having 50000 miles on it. I regret not sending it to a shop but in the end I saved roughly 1000 dollars that I can use to do other modifications. Looks amazing when it's done though!
Wow,, I honestly can say I have never heard the words "Remove" and "Install" used more in 8 minutes anywhere.. IN MY LIFE !!,,, I can check that off my list now...
i got this lift kit, man did it make my truck drive better then new, make sure you do an inspection of the front end and replace any worn out parts otherwise you will have a bad time. get the front stabilizer..... mine was put on by mooses 4x4 in hartford wisconsin 2 years ago and i couldn't be happier
I watched this video, and it was a little daunting, but my friend and I completed the job in a driveway with jack stands. It would have been very easy by comparison with a proper lift, probably cutting out time in half. We spent about two hours attempting to remove the OEM knuckle, as the ball joints were extremely resistant to removal. After two hours, we gave up on us lightly tapping and using gravity, and borrow a ball joint removal tool from AutoZone. With pressure on the ball joints, and less than a dozen hammer hits, the knuckle was free. Looking back, I would have wanted to install longer brake lines and do brakes and tie rods while we had it in the air, so that I could have just gotten the first alignment right. Center of gravity didn't change too much. RC recommends 17+ inch wheels, which I was not aware of, and I was a bit frustrated because the 2000 GMC Sierra I installed on came with stock 16" wheels. I had asked if I would need to change anything on the vehicle or if stock would accept lift with minimal mods. We also had to wrench a lot, where an impact gun would have again cut down on time a lot more. Cheers.
@@elementsk8erq I called them and asked if I would be able to do it with 16" wheels. I was assured that there would be no way 16" wheels would clear. Put the lift on, put the 16" wheels on. Spun them in the air. Had 7/16" clearance to the brake caliper bolt. Been about 80k since then.
@@IWillSmurfYou I have enough reason to be under the truck about that often, but have only ever found one fastener that loosened at all. If you do your own oil changes, might as well throw a wrench on just to be safe. I definitely can't say I followed the instructions to the letter.
It make look scary in the video but I did it and I’m 18 lol. You definitely need to have a lot of patience. Just take your time and read every step and it went awesome.
Man there’s a lot of people in this comment section that make it sound like they can’t change a tire... I could do this kit in my driveway with a floor jack and hand tools. Except everything would be torqued to “f#%king tight”...
Doing this lift in my driveway right now on jack stands. Not that bad. Dropping the front diff to get it to the shop for 4.56's so I can reassemble. Then drive it there so they can regear the rear
When I first got the idea of doing this I watched this and almost didn’t but, I finally finished doing the front yesterday after 2 days of painstaking work, easily the hardest thing I’ve ever done, every single step of the way will be a battle, every nut, bolt and bushing will fight you especially with a truck from Wisconsin. It doesn’t help I did it in the Arizona heat on a driveway. Some things I’d say to help someone else is just buy some ball joint removers for the stock ball joints, and rent a 1/2 impact it will make your life easier, soak everything with wd40 and remember there’s no going back.
I started installing this kit on my truck without reading the instructions, after removing the alternator and the A/C compressor I didn’t know what to do, so I watched this video.
Seeing all this cutting makes me scared so I'll probably just save up for a few months and have a shop do the lift and then align it so I wouldn't mess anything up hahaha.
Dude I said the same thing but then everyone wanted 900 or more to install so I went for it myself. I did it all by myself with floor jacks and stands in my garage in 2 days. The cutting and grinding is easy, the only hard part was lowering the differential by myself, I just used another jack to lower it. then I self aligned it until I got to a shop, it's all easy man and you learn a lot doing it yourself.
Came in yesterday, 9/24/19, Today, today 9/25/19, i was almost done with the front end, when i installed the skid plate, I was missing 3 washers, and 3 locking nuts. So it's half way on right now. When I got to the cv shafts, the bolts didn't line up properly with the spacer for the dif on both sides, only 5 bolts were able to be bolted down, so will try something tomorrow, may have to open the hole a tad bit. When I got to the sway linkage, I'm missing a bolt, some washers and 1 locking nut, both are installed but not torqued down, just in place till I call RC tomorrow. I have a 99 gmc sierra 1500 4x4. 6" lift kit. I sure do hope the rear end doesn't become a problem. 3.5 stars.
I just bought a Tuff Country 4' Lift for my 2008 Duramax... this video actually helped a lot !! It seems simple, just many steps...a big one not mentioned here, is usually the steering gear may be worn out and need replacing from the bashing taken from over cranked torsion bars.. I just bought a Blue Top steering gear box and Cognito steering stabilizer... this will add another 5 hrs to it.. yuk!
Its a good video though when you get the 6 inch kit. It does not have good labeling for what bolt is used for what. But I just finished mine. Started in the rear and then the front. Took about 2 days total. No shop, no garage, and no air tools. Just a drill and angle grinder and half my tool box laying everywhere. All in all its freaking awesome.
I now have absolutely no problem paying humans thousands to do this while I have a few cocktails. Incredible video, I wish you showed the final product.

There is a magical spot.. the metal around it in that area is thinner...u can try a b.f.h. or if you have a matco air hammer with a blunt tip anvil. Hit it....in my shop..we take a bolt of the same diameter and thread pitch...put two nuts on it so the one nut threads only half way.the next nut locks the first nut on...then know the hell out of the bolt head...this works for tiered ends also...hit it like a man...not like ur swinging a purse

I gave up waiting and was able to get a refund eventually. But they were dodgy about it, stopped answering emails regarding refund for a bit, not impressed! @Rough Country
With a cordless 1/2 and 3/8 Milwaukee impact and all the tools needed plus a propain torch and a BFH this lift wouldn't be that big of a deal. Obviously if your replacing a lot of the factory equipment you have to remove it all first. Looks pretty straight forward. I would replace the cv half shafts, wheel bearing, break hardware, ball joints and control arm bushings while I had it all apart.
I've never had vehicle components come off so easy. If it was this strait forward I would cry tears of joy.
Well i guess this cured any dream I had of doing this.

Do the HD tie rods fit a 02 GM sierra 1500?
Step one...move to a southern state so you don't have a bunch of rust under your truck.
Step Two: So you've moved to the South. Now find a truck that has no rust. Good luck it's a painful process
Step 3: you found the right truck but the guy wants to much for it. You wait for him to go to bed and take his truck.
If you think that’s rusty come up here to the great white north. That still has paint on it. It’s mint by my standards lol
haha as a Canadian I felt this...rust never sleeps here.
I'm in Texas and my 1999 silverado has maybe 5% of rust on it. Looks almost like a brand new truck underneath
Replace ball joints and tie rod ends at this time too. It will be worth it in the end.

With a cordless 1/2 and 3/8 Milwaukee impact and all the tools needed plus a propain torch and a BFH this lift wouldn't be that big of a deal. Obviously if your replacing a lot of the factory equipment you have to remove it all first. Looks pretty straight forward.
I would replace the cv half shafts, wheel bearing, break hardware, ball joints and control arm bushings while I had it all apart.
holy block
I want to get one for my 1998 2door Tahoe. And this will complete it.
Why don't you guys do these anymore. Really would help for the 5" bracket lift for 16 Silverado 4WD
