    I had an epidural with my daughter's birth and afterwards, I had the absolute worst headache I could ever imagine. Like it was indescribable. The only relief was laying completely flat. That wasn't possible with a newborn. Finally they took blood from my neck and put int into my back and that made it better. I would not wish that headache on my absolute worst enemy! So I surely feel your pain! Glad you got the patch!

    As someone has experienced leaking Spinal Fluid, I can definitely relate to the horrible headaches and constant vomiting from it. I'm hoping things are better by now for you!

      I got the trial and the medicine worked immediately. The next day I had extreme headaches, vomiting, nausea, light sensitivity for 3 days. I had to go to the ER too. I had an IV, but they didn’t do the blood patch, they gave me a pain relief injection. The baclofen trial was the worse experience after my initial injury as well.

      @@tyreebrownart same for my brother who had this. He was very poorly with headaches and nausea after, he had to go back into the hospital because he was feeling that bad they kept monitoring him even tho they said it was a usual side effect. The symptoms subsided eventually

    I don’t know where you are now in your journey but 3 months ago I had an intrathecal pump implanted after my pump trial this past Aug. I too had the bad headaches but not the vomiting. I was diagnosed with end stage Multiple Myeloma and deal with chronic lytic bone lesion pain and Non- specific connective tissue disease- chronic muscle spasms. I have 4 medications including Baclofen in my pump. This pump has been an extremely positive change in my life ( after 38 years of very high opioid drugs). I hope you followed through and have been successful.

    My doctor brought this up about 24 years ago when I was nine after having a TBI. The greatest risk was not showing up for some 'maintenance' because they had to keep things in order, otherwise it would jeopardize my health. My Dad and I both disagreed. It was a good decision considering the pandemic now and I don't get many spasms unless doing something really strenuous.
    I hope your spasms will reduce.

    I just cam across your channel! I have spina bifida and I went though the same trials. I went through with the pump and the catheder was in the wrong position so a corrective surgery caused a CSF leak for me as well. I had a tennis ball sized lump on my back filled with CSF for weeks, yeah with the same symptoms. The doctor said to just wait it out for the body to clear it. It was a rough time but it sorted itself out eventually and the whole healed

    I wish you the best of luck with your decision either way, and hope that this helps with the spasms, because I cannot even imagine how exhausting and frustrating that must be to deal with constantly. A friend of mine had a complication with her baclofen pump for ALS and it malfunctioned and created a very, very dangerous situation for her. That was back in 2007, though, so hopefully the technology has improved since then. She lived alone at the time, too, which complicated her situation. Basically, if you do end up getting the pump and you feel like something is not right, don't hesitate to go to the ER immediately. I think she was using a Medtronic device at the time, an intrathecal baclofen pump that she had to get refilled regularly, but it gave her a lot of problems in her specific circumstance and in hindsight I don't know that it was the best option for her, though she didn't have a lot of other options available to her. I really look forward to seeing if this works to help curb your spasms.

His spams were the most crazy things I’ve ever seen, like yours even like you literally a bump I’m the road would trigger the spams. He was always so chill about it but it really was excruciating to watch as a loved one, they were terrifYing, yall are so strong. But yes he had the pump and after several bumps in the road and a few infections, it all came together well in the end he personally is happy he had it and it helped him a lot

    Iam a c6-c7 quad from Lebanon. Spasticity control my life. I cannot work well, I cannot transfer alone, nor sleeping well at night. I tried pills and nothing work. Briefly, i went to my doctor and told me that the pump will work for short time only and then i will get use to it and you will never get the results you want. He said to achieve you problem you should do a surgery called SDR ( Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy). What do you think about it ?? Zack you are a strong man as seen, hope you are doing good and much better. Keep it up and nice meeting you.

  • @jamiehamilton675
    @jamiehamilton675 2 роки тому

    I just came across your videos. Im not a quad but a Para and my spasticity isn't as bad as yours especially since mine only involves my lower body. I also noticed you said you maintain sensation. I don't know many paras or quads and don't know any locally but I also maintain most sensations but can't control my movements. I also have Ehlers Danlos Syndrone and a lot of the comorbidities including full spinal I stability so instead of having. An actual injury to sever my cord my vertebrae continuously shift and sublux so they will collide with my spinal cord again and again. The more sudden the jerk for example getting in a car accident vs turning to reach so something the harder my vertebrae sublux and hit the cord so I have always been awkward. My gym teachers in school always knew something neuromuscular was wrong with me but we couldn't convince any doctors to look I to it I until I got a new car which everyone swears is curses. I bought it used and my friends started joking saying someone died in it and it's Haunted because I was never in an accident at all until I got this new car and I got rear ended three times by three different people, all while stopped at a red light and two of the times stopped behind two or more other cars at the light for someone to plow into the back of my car. Three accidents in a year but I went from the clumsy kid who couldn't run it throw a ball past the two point line and fell a lot to develing a limp after the first accident to losing the about to even use forearm crutches by my third accident when no one else ever seemed go get hurt in these accidents not I finally got a diagnosis and found out I should have never rode roller coasters because they jerk you around so much and I loved roller coasters and road a ton when I was younger and should have avoided any kind of high impact sports and stuff like that. I did Tae-Kwon-do as a kid but basically over the years I had hundreds of subluxions that caused micro tears up and down my spinal cord so my cord is basically covered on scar tissue resulting in the paralisys. It's different but I too maintain a lot of sensation but always hear paras and quads say they don't feel anything below their injury. My sensation isn't perfect. I struggle with heat and cold and sometimes can't tell exactly how hot or cold something like a hot plate of food is if I put it on my lap until I lift it up and realized my legs are brunt bit I always notice before the burn gets too bad. The worset I've burnt myself it's causes some blistering like a really bad sun burn and I was prescribed some cream to put on it but noting that's causes any fill thickness burns or any perminant damage. As far as touch goes I can feel it when someone touches my foot or my legs when they pick me with needles the sensation is a little stronger in my upper legs than my lower legs but I can totally feel it. I was only incontinance for about 8 months total. I did bladder retraining and was able to control my bladder to some extent within about 2 weeks and by about the 2.5 month point I had blader urgency during the day so war depends of I left the house just in case and tried to go to only places where I knew where the bathroom was since I had like 5 minutes to get there but that improved. My biggest struggle was at night. It took I months to get to the point where I felt line I didn't need to wear depends to bed but I still put a chux and a waterproof mattress cover on it but only wet the bed three of four times after that and quit using the chix after I went 9 months without wetting the bed. I still keep that waterproof cover on it and probably always will not can control my bladder and bowels but your the first one I've heard who isn't a partial who has said they still have sensation. My PT suspects I actually don't have as much sensation as I think since spasms don't cause me a ton of pain, their just annoying. Three weeks ago he had me laying on my back and lifted my left leg straight up at a 90 degree angle to my body and then said "what the heck? I said what? He said relax your leg. You can bend your knee. I said I am relaxed. He the. Pulled the hand beyond my able away aid my leg was straight on the air and as as he totally let go my leg basically went into a full blown seizure line yours. He then said "oh crap I know what this is now. I'm so sorry just try to relax and breathe and he basicslly had to massage my leg and try to press on it to force my knee to bend very slowely, the whole time with my leg in this total full blown convulsion. Finally he got my heal onto the bed and had to basicslly wrap his upper arm with my knee basically in his arm pit forcing my knee down I to the table and scooting against me so my foot was I sat his thigh to it couldnt go straight again and had to just massage my leg until it quit jerking. It took a good two minted for him to get my knee to totally bend and about five to get my leg to stop jerking all together then he apologized saying he knows it hurt a lot and I said "no not really" he seemed really surpired since I maintain sensation but the spasm didn't cause agonizing pain. Sore it was uncomfortable but felt stiff more than anything. He said he suspects that the nerves that control deaper sensations like muscle sensations are more damages than the nerves that go my outer legs like the skin so I think I can feel more than I really do since I can feel skin sensations line touch. I have nerve pain in my legs too but as far as spasticity goes I've had him and my home infusion nurse both with how bad my spasticity is when it sets in o should be on agonizing pain but in not I just feel stiff like when you sleep on one position too long. I was just curious if you knew how that worked and how common it is to be able to feel sensation but not have control of your legs. Also when you were laying on the bed and you pulled your knees up to your chest did you have any control over that or was it totally involuntary? Most the people I've met on support groups on Facebook and such are either Flasid paras or quads or partials and I feel like I don't really fit into any real category since my paralisys is ultimatly caused by a disease more than some catastrophic injury. With my spine the way it is someone could hit a pothole wrong and cause further injury to my spinal cord so it's like Im stick in this super fragile body.

    Hello! I’ve had my Baclofen pump for 17 years of the 19 years I’ve been confined to a wheelchair. Initially I had the same sentiments that it wasn’t getting the job done. After a discussion with my doctor, a decision was made to increase the dosage level. With the increase I have been able to live a life of free of spasm, with the exception of minor spasm.
    I’m now able to work (full time) with no fear of my legs going ballistic. I highly recommend the pump. It’s without a doubt life changing. Moreover, it does not complicate your everyday activities. The only time I realize it’s there is when I wear a belt. They have evolved since my initial pump to a significantly smaller version. I wear my shirt tucked in for the most part and it’s hardly even noticeable.
    Skinny legs though😂😂 but hey, I’ll take the skinny legs over the spasms any day!
