Their Live Aid performance is a must! Its 22 mins but well worth it!
🙏 please please please 🙏
And it was simulcast worldwide at the time, watched here in Australia live!
He's already done it.
Definitely Live Aid! Gail
It's just the best ever!!
Quick Note: If you show anything from Queen, especially from "Queen Official's" channel, you do not need an overlay. They never pull copyright strikes. Roger Taylor and Sir Brian May seem to LOVE people sharing and reacting to their songs and videos. We Queenies do, too! Thank you!
It’s a nice change of pace isn’t it
Queen, as well as Electric Callboy, Arjen Anthony Lucassen’s projects bands Ayreon and Star One, plus any band signed to Napalm Records.
Freddie said before his death "do anything you want with my music, just don't make me boring".
@@texasdustfart Oh Fred - that makes me sad
I love the bit in Dr. Sir Brian May's interview on Fresh Air when he talked about hearing We Are the Champions at a sports event in India and he's absolutely thrilled that no one thought of it as a song by Queen, but just what you do. It's a song that comes pre-installed in the universe.
Rumors say Freddie’s “okay, let’s do it!” had more talent and soul than 99% of music today
Rumor confirmed.
That's not a rumor, it's a fact 😊
He was and is the best of the best rip Freddie love you ❤❤
Truth
Freddy was great, but Brian had more talent than the rest of the band combined.
No matter how many people were in the audience, you always felt like Freddie was singing directly to YOU. I'm 81 years old and in my lifetime, I've never heard a voice like his. There was only 1 Freddie Mercury!
"We have a choir?" No, you have a drummer and guitar player. Edit: Removed Bass player
I don't want to be "that guy" but just to let you know that John Deacon didn't like doing vocals so it's just the other two, no reason you should have known that it's just a fyi.
@@direnova6284indeed and probably why the original poster said a drummer and guitar player, not a bass player.
Few rock bands are blessed with three good voices that worked so well together as did Queen's. The UK's Sweet had four voices who could all sing in harmony.
@@MikePhillips-pl6ov Originally he included bass player but has edited it, so I'm going to delete both my comments.
@@MikePhillips-pl6ov He included bass in his original post, he edited it.
I will be that other guy and tell you that John always sang backing vocals at live performances. They didn't have enough people for him not to.
Queen was the first rock band to have all their band members inducted in the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Amazing band.
And they all deserved it! All of them wrote songs that got to number 1 in the UK charts (sorry, don't know about other countries as I only grew up here).
@@thepawsofdeception6564 Freddie had a number 1 with Crazy Little Thing Called Love in the US. John had a number 1 with Another One Bites the Dust in the US.
No one "owned" the stage like Freddie. Fyi guitarist Brian May has a PhD. In Astrophysics and has worked with NASA.
After their performance at Live Aid, David Bowie was quoted as saying "how the f**k do I follow that!" Freddie said his instrument was the audience and that day he proved it. Watch it if you can, it's amazing.
When Freddie starts interacting with the audience it's because Brian broke a string and disappears off stage for a moment to get that string replaced. Not a beat missed - Brilliant...
I've seen conflicting opinions about whether or not that was what actually happened. But if it really was Freddie doing improv on the fly, we can't dismiss how flawlessly the drum & bass were able to just go with it!
When Brian broke a string during Dragon Attack at Milton Keynes, John went and did the whole solo from the recording. That’s why I love this band. They were so good at what they did.
Roger Taylor's backing vocals on this are...out...of...this...world!!!
Freddie wrote this as an homage to Aretha Franklin. Queen was and still is astounding! No choir, just the harmony of four very talented guys! My all time favorites! So good!
I think Freddie wanted to BE Aretha Franklin
That's a quote from Brian May, about Freddie's love of Aretha.
Never knew this!
I spent my 24th B-day 8th row and center at this concert! I could see the sweat on his brow as he sang this! It was well worth the 5000-mile return road trip to get there. One of the best concerts I ever went to.
Roger on backing vocals. Queen had 3 front men in reality. All solid singers. Freddie obviously was untouchable
Actually, four... During his career on Queen, John Deacon also sang some of the back vocals in many songs. And a curiosity, during Live Aid, his mic was turned too high, more than Roger's, so, the main voice acompaning Freddie's during Radio Ga Ga was actually his (go there and listen very carefully... You'll notice Brian wasn't singing it, and the strongest voice accompaining Freddie's was NOT Roger's, by far). And let me say, John has a surprising good singing voice, very upbeating and in tune, it blends with the others' (in special, Roger's) very well. I also dare to say he sings far better than most singers considered "great" today.
They are so smooth and insync with each other that no one noticed how the band improvised while Brian got his broken string fixed. Class act and my favorite performance of this song.
It was absolutely seamless. You can see Freddie looking behind him as Brian steps to the back of the stage and the nod from Brian letting Freddie know he's in place again. Great communication with one another.
No autotune, just pure class!!
"There's a choir?" LOL, nope! That's just Queen. Their live aid performance is a must watch
The "choir" is Roger Taylor (drummer) and Brian May (guitar). Best live band ever. Hands down. Freddie adored Aretha Franklin and this song was a tribute to her. For an amazing live performance from Fred, find "You Take My Breath Away" (Live at Hyde Park 1976).
Queen at Live Aid. Widely considered the best Live Muaic Performance in History
Not even invited to play at Live Aid. They were a last minute fill in. Freddie had a throat infection, doc told him he couldn’t perform. What do we have? One of the best live performances ever. Sorry, correct that. THE best live performance ever.
Freddie's jaw and teeth were different, giving him unusual acoustics in his mouth, almost like a trumpet. My favorite quote from Freddie when asked his favorite instrument to play, he said, " The audience, darling." 😉
He was beyond awesome.
After they made it big he was asked if he would fix his teeth and jaw. He never did because he was afraid it would change his voice.
@@trucksr4gurls Yup. Never endanger a work of art like that voice. Wise man.
Freddie and Montserrat Cabale, singing Barcelona live - epic!!!
The most perfect chemistry in a band...ever!
The day Freddie died was the first time I ever saw my mother cry.
The greatest Frontman ever
Freddie Mercury ❤
Lost before his time man, but legends never die.
Two words...Live Aid
There is a good reason Queen were the first ever band to be inducted into the Songwriters 'Hall of Fame', they all penned hits!.
You've only heard the tip of the iceberg :)
Queen is the *only* band in history where every member is in the Songwriters' Hall of Fame.
@@mori1bund R.E.M.?
@@JosephHuntelvisnspiders I mean every band member individually, not just the band as a whole.
Nope...no choir! Just the four of them. It's not voice overs, either! Oh, to have been there for this one...THANK YOU!
John doesn’t sing. So it’s only Roger and Brian doing back up vocals. And Roger does most of it.
John does do some back up on here as well…❤
@@susanp.7954 nope. Not on this song on this live performance.
@@susanp.7954 No his microphone is low or off most of the time. Mutual decision of the Band.
There was one “somebody” that John went to the mic for, but like the poster said above me, his mic was turned down low. He only sang with Freddie during “Liar” 1973-circa 1976, and two memorable times when his mic was turned up: The Odeon Christmas 1975 show for “In the Lap of the Gods… Revisited” and 1984 Milan “Radio Gaga”.
He was a known lip syncher and frequently sang along in videos.
Astrophysicist (yes, really) Brian May on that electric guitar solo too in this one. My appreciation for Queen has only grown as I've aged, all of them were and are amazingly talented on their own and genius together.
Dr Brian May PhD, Roger Taylor trained in dentistry, John Deacon (Bassist) electrical engineer
Queen Live Aid: a must see. It’s the best performance of all time.
I honestly think this performance was better than LiveAid. It's a very thin line, but it's better.
It really is. I'm the right mindset this could change your perception of live performances.
His singing is unbelievable! The goat!
Back when it took talent to get famous.
Freddie Mercury always has been, and always will be, my favorite singer of all time. He's got such a beautiful voice, and amazing showmanship.
Freddie had characteristics in his voice a human should not have... And you can tell he was loving every second of performing in front of a crowd like he did here. He had that boyish charm and a certain innocence to him that made him absolutely adorable. It was sad that he went out like he did. But he was able to sing his song and we are all better for it... Rest in Peace Mr Mercury!
Along with a four-octave vocal range, Freddie had the fastest ever recorded vibrato. A class of his own.
No one could beat Freddie Mercury. Definitely one of the best voices and performers of all time.
I love the way Freddie did vocal warmups with the crowd. Everybody's relaxed and ready to sing backup.
Great reaction! You should react to Queen's "You Take My Breath Away" (Live At Hyde Park 1976). It's actually just Freddy and his piano but it's a stunning performance that features his sensitive and vulnerable side. It really is a beautiful piece.
Yes!!!
Aged 17 and I was there! The best show!!
“Love of my life” live is a perfect song to react to!
Drummer Roger Taylor and guitarist Brian May both recorded lead vocals for Queen songs. Roger wrote and recorded "I'm In Love With My Car", which he would perform live to give Freddy a moment to rest his voice and step off stage. Brian wrote and sang "39". Both songs can be found on the album "A Night at the Opera".
'Save me' from the same concert is also a 'must watch'.
As others have said, their 20 minute set for Live Aid is epic!
I don't know if you've already reacted to the official video for Bohemian Rhapsody, but if you haven't, you should.
If you already have, I think you might like Pentatonix's cover of the song. Brian May liked it so much he shared it on his social media with the comment, "Enjoy".
By the way, you don't need to use a copyright filter for Queen videos if you share them from the official Queen channel. They *like* it when their work is shared.
He did and he did not like it, made me so mad I was surprised he even looked at another Queen song.
Four phenomenal musicians, all multitalented. Brilliant, always. Thank you. It Freddie blew it out of the water, live no AirTunes just greatness
I love seeing it on your face. Those moments were you just can't keep back the smile. It's an involuntary reaction that can't be denied. It's pure enjoyment. It's just what Freddie does.
BTW…
Do you know that Freddie also co-wrote and recorded an album of OPERA…
Titled BARCELONA, with Spanish operatic soprano Montserrat Caballé.
Definitely their Live Aid performance is legendary. He was just getting over laryngitis too which makes it all the more amazing. You’ll also see the love for Freddie & Queen from the crowd
Freddie was a once in a lifetime artist, and he was lucky to have such fantastic musicians with him, that could truly bring his visions and music to life.
Live aid performance is a MUST
Great song, and a GREAT version of it as well! Watching people fall in love with music I've loved my entire life makes me happy,
Great reaction! Pls do their set from Live Aid, it’s about 21 mins of sheer perfection & Freddie’s crowd control is amazing! You won’t regret it!
Freddie Mercury....the best voice ever
this performance is unforgettable. Freddie and the band at their highest level of power, it touches souls and hearts. his voice is so waouhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
RECOMMENDATIONS:
There’s ANOTHER performance of…
“SOMEBODY TO LOVE”…
At MILTON KEYNES BOWL in 1982…
It’s completely DIFFERENT from this - Freddie’s vocals are even MORE out-of-this-world (Yes, that IS what I said!)
…As amazing as this Montreal performance is… the 1982 MILTON KEYNES rendition is actually the one that Queen put in their official compilation of Best Live Performances!
“WHO WANTS TO LIVE FOREVER”
On FRIDAY, JULY 11, 1986
At Wembley Stadium
(I included the date because there are actually TWO 1986 Queen Wembley concerts: Friday, July 11 & Saturday, July 12…
The Friday performance of this song is a Hidden Gem!)
Freddie WILL MAKE YOU CRY.
“PLAY THE GAME”
At Milton Keynes Bowl in 1982
“SAVE ME”
At Montreal in 1981
“WHITE QUEEN”
At the Odeon Hammersmith in 1975
“LIAR”
At The Rainbow in 1974
(Needs to be the video that’s 8+ minutes long, to include full guitar solo.)
“YOU TAKE MY BREATH AWAY”
At Hyde Park in 1976
“BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY”
At Montreal in 1981
And…
There’s something Freddie did in live shows, called an…
“IMPROMPTU”
(Basically a short ad libbed jam session where Fred sings insanely HIGH notes.)
There is a YT channel:
VIDEO REMASTER ITA
…They UPGRADE/REMASTER old videos so the image quality is practically 3D… They’ve remastered a few Queen performances, inc THIS Impromptu.
So…
The “IMPROMPTU”
On Saturday, July 12, 1986
At Wembley Stadium
From this channel:
VIDEO REMASTER ITA
BTW…
Please note that after 1986, Queen STOPPED touring live due to Freddie’s health…
But there are THREE additional albums of fantastic songs, for which there are NO live performances.
(Most of my FAVORITE songs are from this later era.)
Yep, this is Queen. One of the best rock´n roll bands ever. And Freddie is definitely Number One when it comes to voices. He was the best. I can argue about second and third places in voices in rock´n roll history, but for me, Freddie will always be Number One. RIP Freddie.
Freddie was, and is, widely regarded as one of the best performers to ever live--if not the best. Their performance at Live Aid is regarded as the best live concert ever caught on tape.
Freddie is unique, in a way that few other artists have or likely will be. He's up there with artists that have such an impact that their music, writing and innovations have not just defined an era, a genre or generation. But ended up being so big, that they influenced almost every part of the industry.
Rap, hip-hop, pop, punk, big band, metal, rock.... all of it.
The whole wembley -86 concert is one of the best ever.
I was going to add this comment about the ‘86 Wembley concert. Also Dragon Attack and Save Me from this ‘81 concert are amazing as well.
That is what having the audience in the palm of your hand looks like
@MrLBoyd… Thank you ❤
Most favorite band/singers.
1 QUEEN
2 FREDDY MERCURY
3 the rest.
“The Show Must Go On” is one of my favorite songs by Queen. It’s one of the last, if not THE last, song recorded by Freddie Mercury before he died - and he knew it at the time. It’s a fantastic and tragic song.
Greatest voice in the HISTORY of music, never to be matched
Seeing that smile throughout this reaction made my day.
You're the first person to speak about a "wave of sadness" in a reaction video. Thank you for that - because that's what is: pure joy ... and then the wave comes.
You may want to listen to the Milton Keynes version of "Somebody to Love", which is very different but just as brilliant.
People have already told you to watch Queen's 1985 "Live Aid" performance. This is a MUST, but there is SO much MORE:
1) Save Me, Montreal, 1981
2) Under Pressure, Montreal, 1981
3) Another One Bites The Dust, Milton Keynes, 1982
4) Fat Bottomed Girls, Milton Keynes, 1982
5) Love Of My Life, London, Wembley, 1986
6) A Kind Of Magic, Budapest, 1986
7) Who Wants To Live Forever, London, Wembley, 1986
8) Teo Torriatte, Tokyo, 1979 (this includes Japanese lyrics!)
9) Crazy Little Thing Called Love, London, 1979
10) Dragon Attack, Milton Keynes, 1982
Watch this version because it includes Freddie's impromptu with the audience:

I could go on forever ...
Anything from their 1981 Montreal concert is awesome!
I'm not even a huge _Queen_ fan, it's just so tight!!
They smashed it out of the park!!!
You truly get it! So sad that he passed so young.
One of the best vocals.
To get to know Queen is better late than never. 😄 I myself have "met" them just a few years ago, but I still find it as a great pleasure.
This is one of the greatest live performances ever.
Beautiful reaction to a beautiful performance ,, thank you for this one
Brilliant Queen. Genius Freddie Mercury ❤❤!They were amazing live! Try live Hyde Park as Freddie settles a rowdy rock crowd with his new, yet to be recorded song: You Take My Breath Away. It’s utterly hypnotizing! Also Queen at Hammersmith Odeon doing: The White Queen. Other great songs are My Melancholy Blues, Love of My Life, Under Pressure, Who Wants To Live Forever- live in Budapest, Spread Your Wings, One Year of Love, It’s A Kind of Magic- at Wembley, video of Another One Bites The Dust., The Millionaires Waltz, Death on Two Legs, Killer Queen, Flick of The Wrist & Lilly of the Valley…All 4 guys wrote great songs so there’s lots to choose from.
Any of those
You def need to check out Live Aid for sure. The bands best 22 min of their career, and Freddies Greatest qualities are all on display, he was superb vocally, despite having laryngitis and being told not to perform.
Queen was my first concert as a kid. They were amazing!!!!
Pity you didn't hear the studio version first - so utterly different from the live version! Still, both versions are insanely good! 🙂 Yes, you have to watch them at Live Aid in 1985. I believe that it's actually illegal not to.....
QUEEN Please White Queen Hammersmith
...very beautiful ❤❤Freddie Forever
I agree ... and keep in mind, this was still early Queen, they had only just been released from the shackles of Trident Records and could now star enjoying the rich rewards of their amazing talent.
This live performance was great. Thanks for posting. It was great also watching you smiling during the performance. We can see the joy all over your face.
White Queen - live at Hammersmith Odeon 1975 - a masterpiece ….!!
I've watched this at least 100 times and this particular one moves me to tears with its perfections
'Live Aid' Wembley 1985, 'Liar' live at The Rainbow 1974, 'Now I'm Here' Wembley 1986, 'Fat Bottom Girls' Milton Keynes Bowl 1982. Thanks
After deep diving into the Queen discography, I can wholeheartedly, and most importantly unashamed to profess that I would give my left testicle to revive Freddie in a heartbeat. One of those "once in a generation" talents like Chester Bennington was.
Freddie was one in a million; RIP darling. Still breaks my heart.
The best artists of the day US and UK played at live aid and Queen blew them all of the stage
Everyone in the band can sing amazingly-yep. Queen with Freddie was just magic.
Watch Queen at Live Aid. Mindblowing.
I just love watching reaction channels listen to this song. Always the same level of amazement. Nobody does this song like Freddie and the band...never have and never will. Sing down from the heavens F. M.!
I saw them for their "jazz" tour live at Madison Square garden in 1979, I still have the concert program from that night.
It's one of my treasures.
Queen and the Beatles 2 of the best bands of all time and from the UK 🙂❤️❤️
Not just a singer, an actor preaching in the church of love!
I’ll tell you, as a lifelong Queen fan: You -HAVE- to listen to Love of My Life from Queen: Live at Wembley. Just Freddie accompanied by Brian May on a 12 string acoustic, at it stands as one of the most magical and moving live performances ever committed to tape.
The whole thing shimmers from the first strum to the final breath.
Freddie packed a lifetime of stage presence into every single show and did it over and over again.
Their Live Aid performance is life changing 😄 I watched that and it altered my entire music taste growing up.
He’s absolutely full of the music and the performance.
You probably heard them on soundtracks from Iron Eagle and Highlander
Who wants to live forever live at Wembley
Queen equals real music, love him
i will say one thing, you always here, breath control, pitch, vowels, lol, freddie, when he sings, he has so much time, between the next lyric, he had his own timing, pitch, vowels lol, even time to take a drink half way through a song, we had pop, we had disco, we had ska, we had sex pistols, opera, we had ballads, then we have queen, their own genra, who did it all, in their way,
I'm not one of those lucky people that gets chills from music; but this performance did it!
Perfect, wonderful, so beautiful.
Live from Wembley, “Who Wants to Live Forever”.
I just love it when the boys put a smile on people's faces. Thank you Sir, brilliant reaction ❣
I believe I read in a Forbes article that Queen is the one of the top bands (other than the Beatles) most cited by other musicians (from across all music genres) as their top inspiration and influence! When you have Anthrax, Katy Perry, Faith Hill, Metallica, Foo Fighters, Guns N Roses, Lady Gaga, Wiz Khalifa, etc. all say they were inspired by Queen, that is something!
You would absolutely love Freddie Mercury & Montserrat Caballe singing "Barcelona". A perfect mixture of Pop/Opera and both voices will absolutely give you chills.
New sub here for the Freddie/Queen reactions! Love this!! Love seeing new people come to realize just how brilliantly talented he really was. And, as for other performances….just pick one. They will ALL blow you away! Cant wait for the next one!!
Their harmony is amazing!!!
Freddy was an always will be the Queen
Watched this whole concert recently with some friends (including best friends from my high school band back in the early 80s) and we were FLOORED! Every song was like an encore, every song was like the greatest performance you've ever seen. The amount of talent in that band was next level. Incredible concert film, RIP Freddie - you are loved and admired and remembered every day all over the world.
Your face was an absolute joy to watch during this, that’s the power of music. The higher backing vocal are from the drummer Rodger Taylor, in my opinion one of the best drummers who can sing beautifully.
