Skyr is actually a fresh cheese but rebranded as a yogurt. Tastes fab.
Strained yogurt is very common in my country ( Turkey). 🇹🇷 We call it “Suzme Yogurt” and we only have full fat and plain version. It s my favorite. Fun fact ; the word yogurt comes from the Turkish “yogurt” which is theorized to come from two different origins. The first and most commonly mentioned is the Turkish verb “yoğurmak”, meaning to thicken, coagulate, curdle or knead. The second is the Turkish adjective “yoğun”, meaning thick.
It’s incredible how mis informed we were “back in the day”. Btw- I now make my own yogurt after watching your “how to make yogurt “ video. Thanks 🤗✌️

Hi Autumn, I am 62 years young and have been overweight for a long time and tried sooo many diets, failed all of them being constantly bloated yuk. I have been listening to you for a month or so now, and I feel so much better, no bloating yay! Also I have lost 1stone 3lbs (yes I am a Brit and old and not quite got around to using kg etc). I am also hypoglycemic and worried the intermittent fasting would be troublesome, but I have had no sugar crashes at all. And I can stick to this with no trouble at all. There are so many people on You Tube saying 'do this, don't do that' pah to them. I like the way you explain things, with a lot of science thrown in and helpful advice, so thank you 😊
Been making my Greek yogurt for a year now thanks to you! It does save me so much money! I make mine in the instspot cause it has a yogurt setting. I had tweak the recipe a bit but now I make it pretty much twice a month or so! Thank you! I would have never tried making it on my own had I not seen your video!
This answered every question I've ever had about yogurt... Which is a lot of questions lmao. Thanks Autumn! You da best
Great article. Haven't eaten sweetened yoghurt for years...switched from natural to Greek yoghurt and put coconut and cinnamon in it. Will try to make my own too.
Such an informative video Autum, thank you ❤! I was so confused at the grocery store yesterday
You’re very welcome!
Such an amazing job, Autumn!❤
Thanks Ervin!
You’re welcome, Autumn!
I've been eating the 5% Fage Greek yogurt and it is the yogurt of my dreams. So thick and delicious. The only plain yogrt I can eat by itself without adding anything to it. Last time I was eating it, I felt a little guilty and wondered if 5% was too much fat. Now I feel 100% justified and will continue eating it.
It's the best! If you ever make your own, add some cream to get a similar taste and texture (I think whole milk is 3.5% fat by default)
Actually I'm just discovering the 5% fage yoghurt myself. It was on offer so I just bought one in case I didn't like it but it is delicious! I went back and got 2 more!
@@strwbryblondi07 I was wondering about how they got to 5% and I have been planning to start making my own yogurt, so thanks for the tip!
That's the only one I can even eat. My dad thinks I'm crazy for getting the 5%. He's been on the non-fat train since the 90s. His doctor was so worried about how underweight he is though, he told him it was ok to go full fat...he still can't 🤦♀️. He eats everything I make for him though, so there's that 👌😎.
Hi do you want to burn your fat sleeping time?
Been loving and following your intermittent fasting videos. And I needed this 😁 cause when I became lactose intolerant I just completely cut off dairy. But I now know I can only tolerate greek yoghurt and a few aged cheeses, but been scared to try skyr so, I will definitely try it out with some nuts or peanut butter. Thank you! 🤗
I make my own homemade greek yogurt and its so good! I love it because I can control what goes into it.
I need to buy the skyr-yogurt-thingy the next one I go shopping. Thank you for this video. xoxo
Great video. Thank you Autumn. In Canada I buy Liberté full fat (5%) plain Greek yogurt. Once I gave up flavored yogurt I got used to it and craved sugar less. Berries and apple are my go to fruits I put in my smoothies/bowls. 👍❤️🇨🇦
I have that exact same yogurt in my frig right now. Here in Nova Scotia it is expensive I'm going to try making my own. Have a great day.
@@queengoddess2010 I know it is expensive. But I look at all the flyers and use an app to find it on sale. I have bought it at 5.48, 5.98. I am too lazy to make my own… hope you succeed making it. Thank you for your comment and have a great day too.
Thanks Autumn! I have been making my own Greek yogurt since your "how to" video. The strainer you recommend really does the trick!
Same here. That yogurt strainer really makes it easier.
I need to start making it ❤😁🐶👍🏽
Awesome!! So glad you’ve started making your own Greek yogurt!
Great video! Something for everyone. ❤
Thank you for the video I really appreciate you making suggestions suggestions for vegan options for plant based options. I myself live a vegan lifestyle and I love your content, however many times I find it difficult Because I don't use the same protein sources.
I would love to see more videos that also do regular recommendations for plant based/vegan options. ❤
Ditto!
Very helpful! I am in the process of making my own Greek yogurt right now thanks to your video!🤓
Awesome!!!
Thank you autumn bates your amazing
This is great thank you
Stoneyfield plain full fat grassfed greek yogurt. That's the kind I buy. It sucks that it's $8.00 for a 24 oz carton though. I've been considering trying to make my own.
Definitely try making your own. Strauss is what I used to buy (and it’s delicious), but it was getting to be about $10-$11 per carton 😵💫 that’s why I first decided to start making yogurt and it saves me a TON of money a year.
I've been making homemade greek yogurt from grass fed milk from your previous video and I love it! Autumn, have you ever used the whey as your starter rather than 1/2 cup of greek yogurt when making a new batch? I was reading about doing that, so I think I'm going to try it so I don't have to sacrifice some of my actual yogurt.
Hi, you dont actually "sacrifice" any of your existing yogurt when you use that as a starter for your next batch. The reason being that the reused yogurt increases the overall volume of the next batch.
I make my own yogurt and strain it to be super thick. I add a bit of heavy cream too 😋 A half gallon of milk plus some cream fits perfectly into reused quart yogurt containers.
🌞 Great stuff!!
Thanks, Autumn! ⚘️
Cheers! 🕊❤️ 🌎
Cheers!❤️
I am going to try and make my Greek yogurt lol. I didn’t know it was so many kinds of yogurt but this video was very informative. I now buy the Fage yogurt and it makes great smoothies
Highly recommend making Greek yogurt! It’s surprisingly simple!
That Skyr is so creamy and Siggi's is very good too! They do make whole fat plain Skyr yougurt. Have some in my refrigerator.
Hi Autumn, thank you for another great video. I know you're not a fan of vanilla flavored yogurt but would you review Oikos Triple Zero, vanilla flavored, blended greek yogurt? The nutrition facts look really good to me. What am I missing?
It’s not a bad option, I just prefer full fat for satiety and fat soluble vitamins
Skyr is AWESOME!!!!!! I like it even more than Greek yogurt.
I love you Autumn!! #squirrel!! motorcycle, package delivery guy! It’s like an m sitting in your kitchen with you!! 😂😂❤😂😂
I have been using the ratio keto it has 25 grams of protein add a scoop of Autumns protein powder and I am good to go 😀... no fat but I like to add my fat with the almond butter nuts and chia seeds .. it has monk fruit so its not so sour tasting. works great in the breaky bowls . I will use the the plain full fat greek yogurt when I make my smoothies though
Thanks!
This is great! Any thoughts on making coconut milk yogurt?
Working on a recipe! I want to make something with equivalent protein so it can be used interchangeably
Blueberries sauteed in ghee sounds Amazing! I'm hungry now.
Can you do a video on Vit K2 MK7 and recommended brands? Thanks
I like organic whole milk vanilla yogurt. Then the medina goes in that. At least one or two tablespoons of flaxseeds, soaked walnuts and Brazil nuts, berries and spices. Whatever you need.
I get the Plain Greek add a scoop of strawberry protein and a little watter. Mix it all up. Its like eating a fatastic dessert. About 80g protein total one searving. But it really does not fill me up. Just getting protein in
Great video! Do lactose free yogurts lose out on anything essential? And how about cottage cheeses, are they a good protein option?
Usually lactose free yogurts just use an enzyme to break down the lactose, so you shouldn’t be missing out from anything (assuming you’re still using full fat yogurt, that is). And heck yeah, cottage cheese is an AMAZING source of protein! Even higher than greek yogurt!
Hiya autumn! This video was very helpful thank you!
I had a question about your opinion on Cabot Vermont greek style yogurt that's the kind I use :)
From what I can see, it looks like it’s not a true Greek yogurt and the protein is a bit low compared to the fat content (from the added cream). I like to first prioritize that I’m getting adequate protein, then add additional fats to satiety (in this case, the added “cream” would be an added fat that isn’t normally in true full fat Greek yogurt).
We buy Greek plain since so much sugar is in all of them we add our own vanilla and stevia
I make yogurt but will try using raw milk. May try myo cottage cheese.
Yes , I use siggi’s and is so good and creamy. I really need to start making my own yogurt 😅
I highly recommend trying it out! It's so much easier than it sounds to make homemade greek yogurt!
My favorite Skyr is Norr, better than Siggis or Islandic
Siggis is my go-to yogourt 👌👍🙌
Hi Autumn, I’m also thinking about making my own greek yogurt, but how many grams of protein per 100g do you count on your homemade greek yogurt? I just want to know so I can figure out how many yogurt I need to achieve my protein goal! Keep up with your great work👍I love watching your videos👌Greetings from Germany🤗
Hi! It’s impossible to know for sure, so I just base it on standard Greek yogurt nutrition facts.
@@AutumnBates Ahh, okay👌Thank you🙏😊
i buy cococnut yoghurt and add it to my greek yoghurt for the flavor
do you have a video to make your own yogurt plse?
I always buy yogurt at Costco. The brand Bellwether, 100% A2 protein, grassfed cows, organic whole milk. Carb 5g, sugar 3g, protein 8g.
The price is 8 bucks for 2 pack of 64oz, last a week using daily. Wholefood market carry this brand at much higher cost. FYI
How do you feel about either of the Oikos products, the pro and triple zero Greek yogurts?
Love oikos triple zero mixed berry greek yoguart 0 added sugars
I make my own yogurt and it tastes so much more delicious and decadent than store bought. I use Chobani plain full fat as starter. What do you use as starter Autumn?
Agreed! I used Strauss, but now I just use a bit of my most recent yogurt to keep creating new starter.
What yogurt for Keto? One that’s more clean than the ratio yogurt?
I’ve never lost weight on yogurt! I love it though!

Is the Brooklea Greek 10% fat a good one?? Thanks.
I am surprised that Two Good didn’t show up in your review. Low carb, high protein, and a good amount of fat. Thoughts on Two Good?
Yesssss the old ‘fat free’ ‘low fat’ advertising. Just means added sugar or sweeteners!
We’re on to you grocery promoters!!
Pretty much the same as ‘baked not fried’
How about oikos triple zero with stevia
Autumn, what are your thoughts on dairy-based yogurts that have been pasteurized AFTER the fermentation process? Another UA-cam channel I watch states that most yogurts are pasteurized after fermenting , which kills the live cultures. The only ones he knows of that pasteurize then ferment are Siggis and Coconut Cult (which of course has no dairy, so I’d expect all unsweetened plant-based yogurts to have live cultures).
I’m not certain on that, as I’ve used various yogurts for starters successfully. If it was pasteurized AFTER fermentation, then it wouldn’t be able to create new yogurt.
Marie, I think I watched this same video and found it really confusing. I don't think he's got correct info.
You must be referring to Bobby Parrish, aka FlavCity. I like the guy. He is generally very informative, and I'm a subscriber, but this one doesn't seem quite right.
@@rhannah7873 Exactly. It’s this video, starting at 10:30: ua-cam.com/video/bqRzI0_bAN4/v-deo.html
In case the link doesn’t work, the title is “Stop eating health food, it is bad for you”.
How about if I’m trying to lose more fat from my body? Should I use nonfat Greek yogurt instead?
Hi Great video! I have a question. While making my own Greek yogurt with grass fed milk, does it matter which tipe of store bought yogurt I use to ferment the milk? Do it has to be grass fed?
Hi! It doesn’t have to be grassfed. I used Straus for my initial starter, but you can also use other yogurts.
What about kefir?
Autumn, my question for you is why do l wake up bloated every signal morning, and what can I do to fix this?

Canola oil is monounsaturated. If heart health is a concern it’s healthier than coconut oil
Hi! I did your protein counter video! How much fat would you say one should get in a day for weight loss?

Interested in your thoughts about A2 milk. I have been using the organic Alexandre Grass fed A2 full fat yogurt in hopes that it will cause less inflammation. I can't seem to find A2 greek yogurt. Thoughts about this yogurt vs greek?
If you prefer A2, you can make Greek yogurt using A2 milk! I have a recipe here: ua-cam.com/video/XTprzAIWXgg/v-deo.html
SO THE FAGE DOES NOT NEED TO BE ORGANIC?
I love your face 😊 & your content 😊
Is Fage grass fed? I could not find anything on the packaging or website that indicates that they are.
It used to be marketed that way. It was also local to the PNW. If they don't call out they're using grass fed milk, they probably don't. Maybe call them?
Chia seeds
Those yogurts are .99 cents??? i am moving there! It’s unaffordable in canada😅
How much latose is in skyr yorgurt
It really depends on the brand, but you might be able to search it online for the specific brand you’re using. Either way, it’s very low
Hi I am doing 16 or 20 hours fasting I love my smoothie I use to have smoothie in the lunch but I stop because I am not sure I can have smoothie in my eating window can you confirm pls
Smoothies can be a great option during the eating window! You can check out how I make my smoothies here: ua-cam.com/video/qrCqwbC4PHE/v-deo.html
Killer content. 👍
Siggis is my favourite lol
I'm trying to find your video on how to Make your own yogurt can you send me the name of the video
Here you go! ua-cam.com/video/XTprzAIWXgg/v-deo.html
When you make homemade Greek yogurt, I thought the liquid was the whey. So if Greek yogurt is the yogurt minus the way and it's higher in protein and lower in carbs, does that mean the whey liquid is full of carbs?
I've wondered about this too. There must be some protein in whey because you can buy whey protein and it doesn't contain carbs (I don't think). So they must be abe to separate out the protein somehow, I guess.
There are different types of whey. This non aged whey is high in sugar.
There are two main proteins in milk: whey and casein. Whey usually gets filtered out along with the lactose (whey does not contain any carbs, it’s a pure protein).
@@christinerenee5616For whey protein powder they use a factory filtration process to extract the lactose sugar from the whey.
Omgoodness eating unsweetened plain yogurt is gonna be so hard because it's so bitter.
I know this video is about yogurt which i love but i eat Cottage cheese at almost every meal. I find it keeps me full alot longer.
I *love* cottage cheese 🤤
When you say “unsweetened “ does that mean zero grams of sugar? I’ve eaten plain nonfat Greek yogurt with 18 grams of protein per serving for years. However, it has 6 grams of sugar. Eating fat after years of being told to eat low and no fat feels scandalous. Labels can get confusing. Sugar free versus no sugar added???
Yogurt will always have some lactose (“sugar”) but it’s usually fermented and not absorbed as a true sugar. You want to look out for “added” sugar, which is a separate slot on the nutrition facts label.
Is anyone here interested in burning fat at night? If so, please reply to this comment and I will be happy to help you achieve your weight loss goals
Avoid flavored yogurts.
Costco carries Grass Fed plain Yogurt. Is it good to buy???
Is Costco plain greek yogurt good to buy??
What about kefir?
