Thank you Alan for your warm tribute to pat and the stars of coronation street I like you grew up watching with the family I like to here your stories of the stars regards kevin😊
That's extremely kind of you Kevin. You are a very nice guy but taking the time to comments. Thank you, Alan
Thank you Alan for your kind reply I always look forward to your videos regards kevin
Im currently watching the old corrie series so much better than the episodes of today.
Grew up watching the show with my parents
So many good memories regarding the show.
Thanks Alan for showing us pat phoenix grave she was such an icon bless her soul.
Hello Tracy that's the best thing about a program brings back those memories I'm very pleased you back to those happy times with your parents. I used to watch the show as a child with my mum and can you imagine one day I went on the program when it was in Manchester Studios and did a scene and stood did a doorway quite a long time for with Emily Nugent and I remember saying to her how bizarre it was for me and she laughed. Thank you for your lovely comment Alan
Corrie in black and white is epic and Elsie Tanner was a great character. We watched every episode in our house back in the day before VCR recorders! Those were the days. Pat was a brilliant actress, another woman who died too young.
Hello Joan, when you think about it, it's a little bit like the early days of the film industry. They were so big on the screen and then TV came along and they were so big because of the number of viewers and the lack of channels. But we enjoyed them. We were not spoilt for choice like today... She does a great interview with Tony Booth. He tells a very strange story if you UA-cam it. Take care, Alan
Thanks Alan, I will watch the Tony Booth interview. He was an interesting character and again, died too soon. Of course, you’re right about the evolution of entertainment, from cinema to the advent of TV. I forget the speed of progress, we are alive in very interesting times that’s for sure! Take care. Joan.
@@Joan-COYI I remember when I was about 18 and the very old man to me called Ted in his 70s said the same thing from his Brough Superior motorcycle too then in the 80is... but we really have gone through a big change. I think we go back to the golden age that was removed where today they've got more access which makes it less special but probably more realistic. BUT We Loved Our CELBS X Watch out for my next one Stanley Unwin,. I love the guy. Take care, Joan
Thank you Alan what a lovely video of pat phoenix s and rest in place 😇😇
Hello Charlotte, she was quite a firecracker 😁 all the best, Alan
BEEP - BEEP.
I envy you getting to talk with the stars of Corrie.
What years were you a 'supporting actors'?'
Did you get to meet Pat? She was one of my favourites.
I used to be a MASSIVE fan of Corrie, Back in the 80s i brought the 1st ever episode on video cassette & wrote to Granada TV who sent me photo's of the actors. I kept a scrap book of anything in our news paper that had anything to do with Corrie, I dedicated a whole bedroom wall to it (see, I wasn't exaggerating). I even bought Pat's books. People were surprised when I stopped watching it as i had been a fan for as long as I coupd remember, I was known for it but I stopped watching just before Michelle Collin entered the Street as it had lost itself spark, the stiry lines were not nearly as good, the quality was no longer there, it could make you laugh/cry/ think, have you on the edge of your seat but not any more. Shock story lines just for the sake of it, I know hate Soaps. 😢
Have watched, and loved Corrie for years, still do! My late mum got me into it. I’ve been to every version of the Street, including, in around 1970, the one that was smaller scale. Also went to the current one at Media City in about 2017/18? I met Pat Phoenix in my local town in Cheshire years ago. Lovely lady. I’ve also met Betty Driver, Julie Goodyear, Johnny Briggs, Geoffrey Hughes and Eileen Derbyshire, amongst others. Keep up the videos Alan, very entertaining.
I loved all the old stars in coronation Street not many left now. Pat was in the Alexander hospital in Cheadle think she died there. Near where I was brought up and lived until I moved to Holmfirth in 1998. Remember the arguments with ena sharples and her son Dennis throwing plates was the most violent it got back then. Thanks for sharing love from Gill Holmfirth West Yorkshire 💙💚
Those were the days when it was worth watching. I haven't watched it in years, it's just not the same
My mum stopped watching corrie after else tanner character left the street..she truly was a character on and off screen she really didn't get the credit she deserved as a actress
Brought up watching it like you say Alan no choice! I’ve met Ken Barlow (William Roach) back in 1993 and my girlfriend back then? Now married
28 years. We were on a tour around the set and we stood in line to get a photo took with him. Secs before I dropped my camera and it smashed but Ken said, don’t worry I’ll give you my signature. Top man. I don’t have it now lost in house moves! Love to hear more true stories from you! Top man yourself Alan ❤
Hello Paul, I thought you were going to say that Ken offered to buy you a new camera . I was once on the set of Emmerdale a one of the stars who will be nameless picked up my camera and I'm pretty sure they were walking off with it ,🤪 not quite as nice as Ken ... See you soon. Alan
@@MotorHomeBeepBeep he was brilliant specially with the elderly? Even back in the early 90’s he was one! Haha. Great guy though top man. Fantastic day out ❤️
I remember watching the episode where she left the Cobbles for good. Great actress she was. ❤❤
Wow I never saw that episode. I just remembered from the 60s but she was under the founder members in the legend of the series.
And the very last words she spoke were " Ah now there"s a question" when taxi driver asked how lng she was going to be away for
You said it all Alan .pat rip ❤thankyou Alan
Thank you Paul. She was a tough one
I to remember not having much choice in watch the street.. I don't watch these days.. mind.. but isn't it funny now things seep into our affections.. God bless them all
Yes it was part of our lives way back when there was not so many channels
Elsie tanner reminded me of a women who used to work in a local chip shop in Bradford.
Did she work with Elvis in the chippy?
I saw the " unforgettable" biography series uploaded on UA-cam, with all these TV actors, great tributes.
I remember Gordon Jackson and his roles, those British series were also on Belgian television.
All characters in their own right, and so long ago !
Tom, Belgium.
I love the video and I've subscribed.
Thanks for Subscribing :-)
I used to love the character of Elsie Tanner . I think deep down she was an icon to a lot of women of that era as she was glamorous in a 1960’s way and always attracted good looking men, so a lot of women I think aspired to her whether they admit to it or not.
I was very surprised at the humbleness of her grave site as very ordinary setting and quite weather worn , not at all the kind of grave you would expect for the icon of a lady seen as a glamorous actress of the time.
Liked your stories of your time as an extra on the street. I never did the northern soaps unfortunately as I am south based but would have loved to have done coronation Street at the time .
Thanks, Alan, another great video ❤️
Hello John, please excuse if I haven't answered to some of yours for personal reasons. I haven't been online very much but I will be resuming in January and you're right about her grave. It was very basic. Wishing you a health. Happy New year! All the best, Alan
