Been using iPad Pro M4 12.9”(13”) as my main laptop Using its native look alike Microsoft has been an issue, because it clashes with other Windows platforms when sending files. Battery life is absolutely disappointing, don’t let any UA-camrs or anyone convince you otherwise, (IF) you were to use it as your main do it all laptop, like me, you will have to keep it plugged in and add other connectivity ports. But for all else, it works really, really well. It has been serving me as my what I can do office work and my personal entertainment system.
hi - yeah, the battery is a problem, isn't it! That's why I made mention of it in the video. The MBA is solid every day, but the iPad seems to have good and bad days...
@@DavidLewisTech ….Hi David, thank you for taking your time to reply. And Yeah, the battery is exactly as you put it. I originally wanted the MBA, but I’m used to touch screen on my windows laptop for years and years and that’s why I didn’t get the MBA & instead risked battery privileges with my M4 iPad Pro 13”😬, but I am very happy with it. I always appreciate your honest feedback, keep it up with the great videos. Thanks
Even if a MacBook is the better overall purchase for a student as far as money goes, the student will still need an iPad and stylus of some sort specifically for taking an organizing written notes. Even if it is an older lower end model, they will still be able to use it.
Some keyboard shortcuts are too useful to not have a MacBook. I bought an iPad Air and suddenly find myself needing a MacBook because cmd shift right/left doesn’t work. It’s a staple of my word editing and saves time. If you can have both by all means do that but if you need one and can only get one, go mac first, phone second, tab third. Or if you want both and have a strained budget then going used always works. The 2018 Pro + M1 air will do you wonders.
No problem at all. I’m in the market for an iPad or MacBook Air and I’d concluded that the Air is the way to go and you effectively validated my conclusion by going into a lot of detail. This type of content is so useful. Top bloke 👍🏻
I use my M4 Ipad Pro as my main working device and I have almost no problems with it. The only thing is that when I am using the magic keyboard or the magic mouse I feel that the cursor is not very responsive 😅. Overall I think I did the right choice.
hi there - yeah, I've had a similar problem with the mouse. Also, the keyboard has a few issues when I am using apps like Ulysses. On the whole, though, I am loving it...
Great video as always David. Spot on advice. The M3 Air is just sooo good, especially with 16gb to stretch its legs. If you can only have one device, this does it all. The older models are ‘fine’ and a good price, but the M3 has enough little things going for it that it’s the best option if you can afford it. Even the webcam looks a bit better cos they tweaked the image processing. The mic array is much better.
Hi Paul - how's your week been? Good, I hope. As you know, I've been immersed in learning about the iPad over the past few weeks, but picking up the Air again this past week has been fun...and it is such a competent machine. The 16GB on there has never felt inadequate....it's a great bit of kit! The mics are top notch too as you say 👌🏻
