  • In this video I walk through the process of building an Ikea Lack Stack enclosure for my Sovol SV06. Happy Printing!
    Here is the enclosure I made from several Ikea Lack tables. This build was filmed over several weeks in my free time. I've made a couple modifications to several of the original parts for increased rigidity. All the links to all the parts are here in the description. I did mix and match some of the Raspberry Pi case designs to achieve the desired outcome that I wanted.

      You're welcome. I have some thermal barrier I want to try out. I'm trying to think of a good way to do a clean install. I may have to design some clips. I'll keep everyone posted.

    That's a pretty slick setup! Looks good!

    I also made an ikea lack table. I like the adjustments you made to make the thing more stable. I use foam and a marble tile to dampen the noise. Though i had to make the case a bit larger and it became less sturdy.

      With the Igus bearings I haven't really experienced much noise. I realized when I filmed the intro, I was in the process of printing. The Lack table is basically a hollow cavity. I thought about gutting the supports and using some expanding foam in there to maybe dampen vibrations and act as thermal barrier. I'm slowly building another enclosure right now. I'm going to experiment for with the next one.

    Awesome setup for the SOVOL SV06. I will be looking out for any follow up video with any other adjustments that are made. Similar to what someone else posted I use some rubber pads and foam for noise damping. Honestly it is way less noisy then what I was expecting based on some other videos.
    At a minimum I do plan on using some super lube for the bed bearings but it's less noisy than I anticipated based on other videos granted the SOVOL SV06 is my first 3d printer so I don't really have a frame of reference regarding noise. I really like the touchscreen for klipper also. Placement seems a little low but doesn't really seem like it could be placed anywhere else either.

      With igus drylin bearings it is crazy quiet. I haven't needed any sound dampening. What I hear is just the mechanical noise of the extruder.
      Just keep an eye on the bearings. When I repacked mine the black seal came loose while printing and bearing balls fell out, which I why I updated to the igus drylin. I talk about it in another video.
      For the lube any quality white lithium grease should work.

      Oh yeah, just saw the end and there is a pretty good design for support for the cable on the back that seems shorter and has a top piece using a zip tie to hold the bottom part and top part together.
      Looks like you already have something in place for the extruder cable sagging but sick looking design also on printables, especially if you have blue filament that matches the blue on the SV06. Looks like you have things covered though but never hurts to check it out just in case.

      @@JoshFisher567 I have a few ideas I'm still exploring such as better thermal insulation, better cameras for timelapse, lighting, and cable management. I'm building another enclosure right now. Lots of ideas and projects in the works right now. I'm always looking for better ways to do things so good input is always appreciated.

      @@JoshFisher567 yes the cable was real bad on a larger print and really messed some stuff up. My wife showed me the spine cable chain and it looks cool.
      I found this color that seems to be a close match to Sovol blue.

      @@room281tech8 Right now I just used black PLA as I currently only have black and white PLA (first 3d printer so don't have a ton of filament and started with PLA because it's the easiest to start out with) and it works great but I do plan on getting some blue filament that matches the SV06 but for now I wanted to prevent the cable sag as it ruined some larger prints on my first attempt and since the pieces snap together you don't even have to remove the cable to the extruder to put it on. I just put them on one at a time and snapped them to the previous piece as there are around 24 individual parts that snap together plus the front and back cable supports which are in the second STL file. After that the larger prints came out perfect. Honestly you only need about half the pieces to prevent the cable from sagging connected from the control box towards the extruder but it just looks neater with all pieces attached, even in black. In retrospect I should have used white but hindsight is always 20/20
      From the comments it seems like eSun light blue pla+ is very close and is what a lot of people used in the make pictures on printables so any light blue filament would probably work best.The latest pic used Polymaker PolyLite Teal which actually looks closer to the SOVOL color IMO.
      Actually it looks like the closest match is "Polymaker Matte PLA Filament 1.75mm Teal"
      It actually gives the hex color code on Amazon and it's 00b4bc so if you go to a site to enter for Hex values to return colors it looks about as spot on as you can get and the model in the picture looks dead on. I'm ordering it. Will let you know how it turns out.

    what size bolt did you get for those top mounts? also Im finding a hardtime finding plexiglass in that size.
    anyway thanks for the detailed video!

    • @room281tech8
      @room281tech8  Рік тому

      I think I used a 1/4" bolt by 3". I just basically took what came with the lack table down to the hardware store and matched it. For the catches that hold the enclosure in place, I can't remember. The plexiglass was hard to find. I basically just found the closest metric equivalent I could source. Being in America, there isn't a lot of metric stuff to choose from. 3mm is the goal. The 1/8” is a little over 3mm and the 0.093” sheets are under 3mm. I ended up using the 0.093" sheets

    Does it have any issues with ABS? I noticed there’s a large gap along the sides

    • @room281tech8
      @room281tech8  8 місяців тому

      There will be some gaps, but nothing that will impact print quality. When I do print ASA or ABS, I just crack the doors a bit so the controller board doesnt overheat. Other than that no issues printing ABS.

    what did you print the parts out of

    • @room281tech8
      @room281tech8  Рік тому

      So this one was printed in white pla+ as that is what I had available to me. The other one I am in the process of building is printed in PETG. The PETG prints turned out a lot better. I will be redesigning this to use/hold 6mm (1/4") acrylic sheets as I now have a good supply of those. I have a few other projects in front, but stay tuned.

      If you're running klipper you can record simultaneously. I haven't actually found a good webcam for a reasonable price that gets a good up close image. My timelapse looks a little blurry even at 1080p. Let me know if you know of one that works well up close.

    what are the dimensions of the plexi?

    • @room281tech8
      @room281tech8  10 місяців тому

      For a good fit you'll need to measure because chances are 1 of the sides will be slightly larger, like on my last build. I believe it was the back panel. Here is a what I got on my last build, W: 17.75" and H: 19.75". These are some good numbers to use to pick out your plexiglass sheets but I wouldn't use them for your cut. I just measured both my cabinets and they are not exact +/- 1/8". Basically once I got all the parts printed. I assembled it without panels and took my measurements that way.
