- The gas door actuator broke and would not keep the gas door closed I got a new one from Amazon for $32 way better pricing then the Nissan dealer. Works great after the repair.

Appreciate the info 🙏🏼 I was able todo it with just removing the back panel and side panel. The hardest part about this job is definitely the plastic ring. I used a flat head to undo the locks on the plastic ring and then turned it counterclockwise. That loosened it and then just popped it off with the screw driver.

just installed the piece and holy shit, i can’t be the only one who absolutely struggled getting that lil piece on the end of the actuator. fuck it put me thru the ringer. works now though ❤️ thanks for the tutorial

I also bought a replacement from Amazon, I installed it and it only retracted. Pulled it out and looked it over and noticed it did not have a return spring on the release shaft. So it won't/can't reset. I contacted Amazon and they were great on replacing. I just received the new one and the same thing. Be care - now trying to decide if it's worth it to tear the new one apart and install the spring or just have Amazon keep sending them tillwbe both get tired.
Wow I am sorry to hear that. I didn't have any issues with mine. But I have purchased other things on Amazon that I did have issues with. I would try one more time with Amazon seems like the 3rd time is the charm. Good luck.
well as I said 'till we both get tired' and I think Amazon got tired. They didn't give me the option of another so I'm on ebay. Probably the same thing just a different website. At least your video helped me see how to open it, it failed at the gas station when I was truly out of gas.
one last question. The connection is a two wire system so it's either power or no power. When you release the opening button does the latch re-extend to lock the door?
my last installment on this saga. I finally tired of emailing the ebay sellers in china who didn't understand the return spring question so I went to a junk yard and bought one for $5 (including retaining spring - many Nissan and Infiniti cars of that vintage used them). But before I put it on I disassembled the original and hooked a 12v battery up to it and the motor spun, so I ran it a couple minutes to see if would clear off any dead spots and I reinstalled it with an emergency release cord, and have a back up waiting.
Bottom line is your video was a great way to see how to remove the original - thanks.
@@boag3882 sorry I just now saw this comment. So to answer your question yes after you release the button and the door is open the spring extends the holder back out into position
You mean you can actually do this with out dropping the motor?
Might need this not sure but I’ve got a 2008 350z and when I press the button to open the lid it won’t open. If I press it while someone pulls on it then it opens. It closes perfectly fine just won’t open with the button

@@randys350z2 mine fixed on its own I think mine was just stuck due to cold weather but when it was stuck I would just spam the open button and get a plastic item to force it open
Thanks for editing out THE HARDEST PART OF THE WHOLE PROCESS! Getting the clamp to snap back around the actuator! Did daddy have to help you do that? Get him to come over and finish mine! 😡😆

I just replaced mine yesterday and when I went to pump gas today it kept cutting out the pump early. Do you think it has something to do with the part because it didn’t happen before.
I dont think so. Do you fill up at the same station every time? I would think it's the pump. This part only opens the door it has nothing to do with how it fills up. So I would think it is the pump at the station.
@@allenpreece2100 It was at a new place so it was probably that, if anything ill just hold the nozzle upside down I'm not really complaining just wanted to see if you've heard of something like this happening before
Ya I haven't heard of that part causing that issue.
It would be interesting to see if a different pump did it or not.
@@allenpreece2100 The day it happened I tired two different pumps and both did the same thing. I went back yesterday and the same pump that gave me issues gave me no issues at all I guess it worked itself out
What about the convertible model.
It should be the same prosses. I am not for sure on that I have not done one on a convertible. I hope it works.
