wow...trunk space.. mindblow! I'll apply this method and try to finish it further with a little bit of urethane foam. Thank you for the good information
The first and about the only mod I did to my Z was to replace that plastic engine splash shield with an Aluminium shield from TBW. The new aluminium shield has a door in it that allows you access to the drain plug and oil filter by just removing two screws and dropping the little door.
Sometimes i drive with basketballs in the back of my z and one time i was in a situation where i had to slam on the brakes and three basketballs came flying into the front seat lol, fun times
I love what you did with the trunk. Almost looks stock and I could totally use the extra space. Don’t think I could not keep the spare tire with me though. That’s kind of a deal breaker.
After over 34 years on the road I've NEVER had a tyre go out on me and needing roadside changing. Buy a can of tyre repair with the foam and never look back.
I have zero mechanical background, but watching your videos have inspired me to buy an NB MX-5 and get my hands dirty! That garage series is a great idea! Silver play button in 2019?
So kind of you to say Andrew. Let me know which one you get and what it's like to drive - I've never driven a NB! My dream would be to have that silver play button!
How is it possible you only have 30k followers. Just discovered the channel because I want to buy a 350z as my second car early next year. Really helpfull and quality content!
Nice one. Not sure if you have done this already and might be interesting to your self, the clutch pedal sits higher then the brake pedal on these, you can adjust the clutch pedal so it can sit flush with the brake pedal, makes a big difference with heel & toe. Bit fiddly but we'll worth it 👍
Thanks mate! Won’t be able to work on the Z for a few months as my new house doesn’t have a garage yet. Got a few car reviews lined up and something secret with Honda...
JDM in the front bumper cover..full time running lights that also switch for the turn signals..reflectors come out as easy as removing the front bumper cover..wiring not to bad..got mine on Amazon!
I can only repeat the feedback of so many others! Great job and really lots of easy but working fixes there. My favourite is the headlights polish, I absolutely didn't expect this much difference, great! Also interesting to see the difference between the Philips bulbs with the xenon headlights. I have changed my headlights bulbs (H7 halogen) also to Philips ones with 60% more light (but still only 55W) and the change in light on B roads is also so much better. I think their lifetime is a bit less but I don't care, the light is so much better. Keep going, absolutely enjoying your videos Greetings from Bavaria
Something good for the steering wheel.... Either use your isopropyl diluted or try the Dodo Juice Leather spray. Both excellent at removing aids from the steering wheel.
Stereo auxiliary. I just use a clydek bluetooth transmitter. Amazon about £20. Works great through a chosen radio channel. And stereo unit is untouched.👍
You certainly know your way around , great video full of so much information and tips . Being on the opposite end of the spectrum to yourself, I’m sort of in ore of your capabilities. A friend of mine used to have this exact car and it was an amazing car !
Orr for the trunk, you could just get a pre-made subwoofer box with the z logo and kill 2 birds with one stone. It does the same thing you did, except you don’t have to custom fit anything & 2 - 10inch subwoofers facing the front to up your music experience.
Amazing result with the PlastX on the headlights. I always thought those needed to be polished/cut with a machine to get them that clear again. Must give it a try.
Incredible Upgrades and maintenance to the fine details of this car, You're doing some amazing work as always. Still love the Z Content, cannot wait to see the Suspension upgrades, and any other mods you decide for better track handling / or power.
I really do love this series, I check daily to see if there’s a new video out. The content is very good and really informative, you have also inspired me to save up a purchase my own 350z which I should have by spring 2019. Keep up the z vids!
Thanks for the video, great useful information and that Orange is my favorite Z color. I found the cargo net to be extremely useful for trunk while keeping the spare...and the previous owner of my car used hydro dip for the scratched up interior bits, it looks really nice with a carbon fiber pattern. Thanks again, I just subscribed an look forward to more Z vids
thanks for showing us the phone cable and bigger boot (upgrade) and i love plastidip because it's so easy Good luck Neil with your renovations' it's abit cold! and i look forward to more of your track days' MERRY XMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR
Nice boot conversion v interested. What dimensions did you end up with in that boot. We goign to do Portugal a&nd Span so need to see what bags and cases we coudl get in. Thanks
Just rotate the stop 90 degrees to remove it. Then the plastic bottom pops out. I’ve stopped using pennies and the cut into the paintwork, am using a plastic disc instead now.
Some good stuff there, although I would have kept the spare wheel! My car didn't even come with one, just some useless tyre goo and a compressor. I had to buy a spacesaver for piece of mind.
Great update mate! The boot idea came off really well 👍 Headlights came up a treat.Think I will buy a bottle.Look forward to next years instalment 🍻🎄👍🏁
Please take the pennies out. Previous owner did it in mine. Cuts into the metal it sits on when closed. Use tap washers instead as they arerubbur and help the spring better.
Nice video some good fixes there. Does seem alot of work for a aux cable with the stereo would it not of been easier to swap the unit out for a new one? Never used that kurrust nice to see how it works.
Hey man! I really love your content so much and you help(ed) me so much. I am from austria and own a 350z. On 10:35 you show us the Lifehack with the radio system can you tell me how you call this cables? So i can find everything i need for the radio life hack? :) My English is sadly not that perfect :D Thank you so much for your help and content. Greetings Nico
Really enjoyed the video! But i wouldn't use plastidip inside a car. The color fades over time and it is very sensitive to sun/uv light. I saw online that you can use a heatgun on the plastic to make it darker again.
hi have a question about my 986. if i want to get bigger wheels, what else do i need to do? I'm talking about fitting the black 18" cayman 987. if they are wide in the back, would i need spacers? is it dangerous if i go over the factory 17"? thanks! love your stuff.
Decent video! I have no interest in a 350z but it doesn't stop me watching... I found your channel a few years back because of your Boxster, and I'm finally looking at buying a 986 - house buying got in the way last time.. YOU ARE THE BEST Z OWNER I HAVE EVER SAW ... I BOUGHT A 350Z BACK BECAUSE OF YOU
Thanks Mabruck. What Z did you get?
Definitely going to do the Trunk expansion mod! I have never even thought about going about it that way. Looks OEM too, good job mate!
Sometimes i drive with basketballs in the back of my z and one time i was in a situation where i had to slam on the brakes and three basketballs came flying into the front seat lol, fun times
That penny trick is awesome!!! I was so annoyed by needing 2 hands to open my trunk, and this totally fixed it. Cool!
I run my Nismo without the spare tire. Saves weight but didnt finish it up like you did. Great stuff.
Blood Carver I drive 100 to 200 miles a day for work. I can’t afford not to have a spare tire with me.
Blood Carver I heard that those cans of tire repair stuff are bad for your rims.
You've literally transformed this 350Z! Like a brand new car again.
Big thanks mate. Yes, it’s getting there. Still a few bits to do!
As long as you continue with consistent uploads, and maybe get an absolute cult classic for your next car, 100k shouldn't be too long coming!
How is it possible you only have 30k followers. Just discovered the channel because I want to buy a 350z as my second car early next year. Really helpfull and quality content!
Thanks for saying so mate. I wonder myself!
Nice one. Not sure if you have done this already and might be interesting to your self, the clutch pedal sits higher then the brake pedal on these, you can adjust the clutch pedal so it can sit flush with the brake pedal, makes a big difference with heel & toe. Bit fiddly but we'll worth it 👍
Thanks for the tip!
Also the boot lid has a chunk of metal in it under the body panel. This can be removed which will make it lighter and less stress on those springs 🤙🤙
As a 350z owner myself, I can't get enough of Neil's uploads - keep em coming 💪 what's next pal?
Thanks mate! Won’t be able to work on the Z for a few months as my new house doesn’t have a garage yet. Got a few car reviews lined up and something secret with Honda...
Some excellent mods here that I will incorporate into my new 350z orange …
Some great ideas there. But I’d be gutted if I found my cassette deck had been disabled as I love my tapes lol. Keep up the good work.
Great job especially on the door handle
Going to do that job on my car.
Thanks Ian. Go for it, it's quick and easy to do.
Awesome! I have the boot release issue on my 350z! I never realised it was such a simple thing. Definitely going to fix that now.
I’ve been advised to use rubber washers not coins as they scratch the metal. Gonna try that.
brilliant video mate! I'm tempted to try the boot mod on mine.
Thanks mate. Go on, it's easy to do and makes life so much better!
JDM in the front bumper cover..full time running lights that also switch for the turn signals..reflectors come out as easy as removing the front bumper cover..wiring not to bad..got mine on Amazon!
For best night time driving you should get the projectors reflectors recycled. The process is called Vacuum Metalisation. It makes HUGE difference.
Thanks mate, will try to. Thanks for the tip!
I can only repeat the feedback of so many others!

I think you'l probably get a better long term result with cutting but it's a good result for little time and effort.
Thanks for giving us video of how you bring your Z to shine again. I kind of prefer the z videos to the bmw's.
Absolutely brilliant Neil, mate! Especially the boot mod; that was really innovative 👍
Big thanks as always Simon. Very happy with the boot now - i can get loads in it!
Excellent updates and mods! Very satisfying to watch you take years off the 350Z!
Thanks mate, glad you liked it.
so glad i found this video
Incredible Upgrades and maintenance to the fine details of this car, You're doing some amazing work as always. Still love the Z Content, cannot wait to see the Suspension upgrades, and any other mods you decide for better track handling / or power.
Thanks Tyler. Probably gonna do a video on how stiffer ant roll bars affect handling in the new year. And maybe fix the rust!
I really do love this series, I check daily to see if there’s a new video out. The content is very good and really informative, you have also inspired me to save up a purchase my own 350z which I should have by spring 2019. Keep up the z vids!
Big thanks for your kind comment Liam. You won't regret buying a Z. Let me know what one you get!
Road and Race I’ll be sure to let you know!
Freakin awesome! Love your channel and been an OG before you had the M3. Keep up the good work!
Big thanks Michael. Yes, I recognise your name, thanks for the long time support.
Let's see the middle area after the wall you added...that could be made into a cool cubby with secret access pop switch.
Keep your keys of blow hidden
Well done on the boot. The autoglym rubber spray works well on tyres too!
Keep the great vids coming mate
I have learned so much on this channel, thx mate
Thanks for watching!

Great video, the mods turned out good 👍
Nice boot conversion v interested. What dimensions did you end up with in that boot. We goign to do Portugal a&nd Span so need to see what bags and cases we coudl get in. Thanks
Great video Neil, keep up the good work!!
Great vid sir. I can’t wait to try a few ideas like painting the interior door handles in my soon to buy Z.
The convertible wouldve been a better option in terms of the boot. The roadster has an independent boot without entry to the roof or the front👌
Great stuff mate..As with the Clio these are now heavily on my radar!
Can’t go wrong with either!
Then use the cargo net that comes with the cart for the Trunk or boot kol
Great video mate subscribed! 👍🏼
Cracking videos these, the z is coming on a treat 👌🏼 (should have kept the 986 mind ;-)
Merry Christmas Neil. Thanks for a year of great content. 🎄🎁🎅🏻⛄️🚗🚙🍻
Merry Christmas to you too Andrew. Thanks for watching.
awesome work >> simple yet effective
Hello do you have a part number for the headlight bulbs ?
Sorry to be a pain but with the ‘penny trick’, how is the disassembly done? I’m always afraid of breaking something. 🤷🏼♂️👍🏻
Just rotate the stop 90 degrees to remove it. Then the plastic bottom pops out. I’ve stopped using pennies and the cut into the paintwork, am using a plastic disc instead now.
Road and Race Thank you so much! Just popped four 5 cent coins in each side. Worked a treat! 👍🏻❤️🇦🇺🇬🇧
Just in case you see this who did you get the weatherstrip off of on the forum please?
Some good stuff there, although I would have kept the spare wheel! My car didn't even come with one, just some useless tyre goo and a compressor. I had to buy a spacesaver for piece of mind.
nice how-to, thanks. What is the colour code for the gear knob fix?
Keep it comin buddy .. i like this type of videos
Will try!
Great video 👍👍👍👍
Amazing video, very creative and informative!
Hey, do you recall whats the part number for that weather seal, I need to replace mine as well
i got mine from the 350Z uk forum.
Does your car have back up sensors or what are those dots on the back
Awesome video, you make a lot of great content. Keep it up man!
Do you think you can make a video of what is it like to daily drive a 350Z
Big thanks Gerald, glad you like the vids. Will try, possibly will make a 350Z Buyers Guide video and include it in that.
11:39 life saver
Good idea, I would make sure to always have a tire inflation and patch kit in the trunk though
Good point. Not shown but I do carry them.
Great update mate! The boot idea came off really well 👍 Headlights came up a treat.Think I will buy a bottle.Look forward to next years instalment 🍻🎄👍🏁
Big thanks mate.
Looking forward to the garage series!!
Nice! Glad to hear it! You thinking of building one too?
@@RoadandRacetv I already have one but its in need of sprucing. Mine came with an inspection pit which hasn't been put to use yet sadly.
Please take the pennies out. Previous owner did it in mine. Cuts into the metal it sits on when closed. Use tap washers instead as they arerubbur and help the spring better.
Thanks for the tip!
@@RoadandRacetv Glad you understood the "are rubber" bit
Mate, any idea where I can find that Orange eurospec shift knob in North America?
No idea. Probably easier to dye it orange?
Hey, nice video. Do you know where can I find a cheap OEM radio antenna? Thanks
Love 350z content!
Big thanks Tom.
where can i order the the bulbs d2r x-treme vision
Nice Z, got the same one....Do you know by chance where the blower motor relay is located? Trying to fix my AC!
Nice video some good fixes there. Does seem alot of work for a aux cable with the stereo would it not of been easier to swap the unit out for a new one? Never used that kurrust nice to see how it works.
Big thanks Chris. Probably, but I like to keep the car as original as possible and this hack is cheaper!
Some very neat work there
Thanks Jon!
Keep up the quality vids 👍
Hey Where’d you get the duckbill, it looks really nice! I have the same color 350z as you and is hard to find that color!
The spoiler? It came with the car!
This was a really good video!👍
Greetings Nico
and another question: what mode do you use on the radio to listen via the phone? Do you use the "cd" mode? thx
Fab, can we change the music, it’s a bit head achey 🙂. Have a fab Xmas Neil
Thanks as usual mate.
Really enjoyed the video! But i wouldn't use plastidip inside a car. The color fades over time and it is very sensitive to sun/uv light. I saw online that you can use a heatgun on the plastic to make it darker again.
Thanks for the top tip! I’ll keep an eye on it and report back.
hi have a question about my 986. if i want to get bigger wheels, what else do i need to do? I'm talking about fitting the black 18" cayman 987. if they are wide in the back, would i need spacers? is it dangerous if i go over the factory 17"? thanks! love your stuff.
Sorry mate, no idea on this one. Maybe try boxa.net as they are usually very helpful.
Decent video! I have no interest in a 350z but it doesn't stop me watching... I found your channel a few years back because of your Boxster, and I'm finally looking at buying a 986 - house buying got in the way last time.. Both are good cars but for the same money the 350Z is faster and newer. Drive both and see what you think?
Yo Z man ,,

You seem to be well researched on the Z ,

Thanks mate!
Hi Neil. I've been offered a Porsche Boxster S 3.4 (2007). Do you think I might be disappointed coming from a Nissan 350Z? Thank you
Both are great cars. Take the Porsche for a test drive and see what you think?
Great info, many thanks
Is it possible to remove the Foam on the left hand side of the boot without taking every piece of trim off? My parking sensors are constantly beeping in reverse
Sadly I don’t think so. I tried to at first but couldn’t.
Trim doesn’t take too long to remove though. Most just snaps off.
Thank you for sharing your amazing video of your beautiful 350z you are a genius I love how you did the boot .question for you I am thinking of getting a 350z and just wanted to know if your z gat any oils leaks??? Thanks :)
Thanks. No, no oil leaks.
The 350z came with a net for the boot. Where’d yours go? And where’s your spare tyre going to go? Isn’t it illegal not to have it in the car?
The net did come with it but i found it you could only put small items in it. Worse though it's barely held it - it just snaps into the trim so i didn;t have much confidence with it staying attached under heavy braking. Not shown in the video but the spare tyre has been replaced with tyre weld and a compressor which is legal in the UK.
Trying to decide between the 350Z or the 370Z there’s a Fujimura body kit for the 370 that looks absolutely amazing.
Just had a look and that body kit is amazing. For me, I’d get a 350Z. It’s a bit less fast but drives better and is half the price.
is there no usb port in a 350z?
I got a 350Z and mine is in a little worse shape than this one (worn leather, chipping steering wheel, etc...) I bought it as my first car a couple months ago and I wanna restore it any suggestions
Depends what you wanna do really. I do a lot of work the the Z in my videos, have you watched any of them for ideas?
What about the spare tire?
my 06 350z has the exact same rust on the side mirror.
Strange. A common fault with the window seal maybe?
Hey can i have opinions on weather on not i should buy this car. It's an 07 hr 350z with 105k miles for 6k usd.. it has rays wheels and a seibon carbon fiber bonnet and wing.. only problem is a very slight grind when dowmshifting from 6 to 5th gear. This can be avoided by downshifting slowly.. upshifting feels great through every gear. Any opinions are greatly appreciated.
I'm not an expert but if the gearbox grinds then it my guess is it's worn cogs that'll only get worse. Either factor in the cost of a new gearbox or walk away.
Awesome Z
Muchas gracias, me ayudo mucho tu video.
Wait, that boot mod means you're driving without a spare wheel?
Yes but I carry tyre glue and a compressor now.
