stingoh Not to mention a brilliant guitarist. Have you ever tried to play guitar and sing? It's not easy at all, trust me. I have a ton of respect for him.
@@Luxarium Agreed. He was actually pretty solid on keyboards too, even if his parts were simple. I think he would've improved too had his alcoholism not taken over. It is really sad. Glad he's doing well these days.
I can't believe how much I loved them then and to this day love them even more. Makes me feel old but blessed to know that music like this IS REAL MUSIC!
Lyrics: Come closer and see, See into the trees, Find the girl, If you really care, ??if you want to see a woman?, It's summer again, Such a long way home, It's a long way home. You stop to see, If I'm watching, If you can hear, the [hair?] falls all down, She's oh so [tired?], and pulls the coat around her, She pulls me in... She pulls... Pulls me in... Her name is different, And it doesn't really matter any more, It always leads here, It's always the same, I'm doing (moving towards?) nothing, Again and again and again and again...
Wowww love this fast version...always been one of my favorite Cure tunes and somehow never heard this. Thanks for posting and replacing with improved audio.
I really like the creepy ominous vibe of the original, but this is awesome. I expected it to be a sped-up through video editing, so I was surprised when I saw the Cure just rocking out. Really cool video as I'm sure there probably isn't a better quality version of them playing 'A Forest' this hard and fast.
I just saw The Cure in June in Vancouver and they were fantastic. A Forest is my favorite song of theirs and this version is so fast . They have always been such a creative band. I've been listening since I was 13, now 44.
My favourite drummer will always be Boris Williams!!! he re invented all the -before his time- Cure sogs,keeping the good stuff,and put his signature at all the latest Cure songs he recorded with them for so many many years
I first heard The Cure in 1990 , just after the fall of the Iron Curtain. And then I remained fascinated. Until today . And this version is great. Too bad that during the communist rule in the Czech Republic were not allowed to play The Cure here
This is what I imagine progressive rock mixed with punk would sound like. In short, it's The Cure, and they don't really sound like anyone else. This is too awesome, never heard this version. The lyrics are different, so I'm guessing either this is before the finalized version or it's just Robert Smith being Robert Smith and singing whatever the hell he wants.
I hope the cure comes back to Chicago. The last time they came here, was in downtown grant Park, loolalapaloza? I guess that what its called. Yup, i miss that. Because I was in hospital. So please let me know, when they are coming back again.

I think this has been speeded up a bit. Here's the real version (unedited audio) - ua-cam.com/video/vc1pqRIOLmc/v-deo.html. Play them together and there's an obvious speed difference. (Which one is the right one, and does it matter?).
Well. I agree with you about The Cure sounding like no one else. On the other hand, progressive rock is way more rich and complex than that kind of music, which is kind of basic.
tight guitar riffs. solid bass line. Gorgeous
have to agree
Wow, Robert Smith was like 21 here... already had so many amazing songs. This guy is such a unique songwriter and dedicated performer.

@@fukingidiot9156 a lot of people do it I do it a forest isn't that hard to do
@@ShadowPlay1919 good for you 👍
Drumming and singing ain't easy either
Clairement un des meilleurs 👍🏻
I saw The Cure in 1982ish in Edinburgh ...never stopped loving them-im 60 now still bring out my youth
Playing drums like that is actually really really hard. Most 'pros' can't keep it up.
Yeah and lots of people think Lol was trash. He could play at least 2 instruments well when he was not drunk.
@@robm6009 yeah really wonder would he have been kept on if he wasn’t struggling with drink. It’s a shame
Yeah it’s fine drumming but that’s a dumb brain dead statement. 😂
@@Luxarium Agreed. He was actually pretty solid on keyboards too, even if his parts were simple. I think he would've improved too had his alcoholism not taken over. It is really sad. Glad he's doing well these days.
It's not... I'm not professional in absolute but I can play all this in that tempo :0
I can't believe how much I loved them then and to this day love them even more. Makes me feel old but blessed to know that music like this IS REAL MUSIC!
Stella Johnson love you
All music is real but this is fabulous and so meaningful to so many.
I saw them in Christchurch, NZ in 1980, I was 15 , blew my country boys mind to pieces, forever grateful !
How very cool. I would have been 9 then. Not too far behind but I caught up quick in 85.😍
WOW!!!❤
New Zeland forever!!!❤

I love the cure , who else hates it when people comment : life was so much better back then !! Shut up. Life is what you make it !!! Today is great .
Simply the VERY BEST of the Cure. In my top ten of all time.

Timeless Masterpiece!

Driving, thrashing, fast...punk for me. Love it!
I saw them on this tour in Nice, south France when I was young. Great souvenir !!!!!!

Wow, this is an amazing version and very tight.

Lol Tolhurst a great drummer.

Tolhurst is better and more appreciated by the fans of The Cure 😉
Tutti cosi giovani e pieni di talento. Meraviglia
One of the best !!!!!
Thats when the cure was young and in a punk stage...
wow. to have seen the cure on this tour....
Year I was born. Fucking awesome.
thanks, nice video quality way better than the other one.

Love this version.
Oh gosh! This is heavenly! Mmmmmm...
I swear I loved this thirty years ago almost as much as I love it now.
This just made my night...
One word sums it up, Brilliance
such an awesome version
Tolhurst, Smith & Gallup: MAGIA
wish I was born in time to get to the concert.
Oh my my my !!! Splendid!!
Robert is a gift from GOD!
Incredible..
Love this early show
This is so rare it's raw! Makes their peel sessions seem like the twighlit version of Anniversary's Plainsong..! Lol 😅😊
Sera que ele inventou essa letra na hora?? Ou ja tinha essa versão?
This is the best tempo for this song, it was even better before they renamed it from 'At Night ' and changed the words.
Got this show on Bootleg. Thought it was recorded too fast, but now l see that they played it really that fast. Wow
It souds amazing with different lyrics
Perfect!!!
Epic!
lol Tholhurst did the job ......and well
In fact, it's "At night" the first version of "A forest"
This is what I imagine progressive rock mixed with punk would sound like. In short, it's The Cure, and they don't really sound like anyone else. This is too awesome, never heard this version. Damn, would love to know what they were on here because Robert's hand is moving some fast!
+Mindy C Uppers lol
+Trent Rez well yeah I figured as much , but i wonder which ones lol
Esta versión es demasiado buena!!!
AWESOME CURE FOOTAGE

Solid Guitar Riffs. Drums being played Fast! This is how the Song should sound like. 😎🎸 Robert Smith is Pure Magic. Just Sick Riffs. 🤘
Wowwwwwwww.
I hope the cure comes back to Chicago. The last time they came here, was in downtown grant Park, loolalapaloza? I guess that what its called. Yup, i miss that. Because I was in hospital. So please let me know, when they are coming back again.
Donald Gavarrete I hope they come back to the states too! my mom was very sick and in the hospital so I missed them at Voodoo Fest in New Orleans
+Donald Gavarrete did you get tickets for their concert in Chicago in June 2016
So good
Roberts "again" was so much more pronounced then. It has been Americanized or softened overt tme.
The cure as I love them, nostalgic maybe but at that time best band for me !
Quiet ...Listen to this amazing track...and enjoy...😂😊😊😊😊
+++BEAU++
the best version
❤ this song....faster is better..❤

About 3 times as fast as the original version - were they worried they might miss the last bus home ?
Its such a long way home 💘
The day I was born.
Remember when i bought the bootleg with the songs from this gig s9oooooooooo fucking great
'Count Down '! I think this might be the Australian music show.
No mate , it was a music program on the Dutch television.
la meilleure de the cure
Young and healthy Rob Smith (Love his voice) Good version. Not my favorite but it's all right !
This is the third different set of lyrics I've heard to this song
3:08 ish 🤤
para mi esta es la mejor versión
Existence quite debatable. Good to know some people think for themselves.
Simular tempo to the original "at night " early version, Gallup plays it a little different here too
Simón 😍😍
Я пошел в 82г. в 1й класс, батя слушал форест)
Why are they playing it so damn fast?
Paul Metzger
May have been drugs, may have been the energy of that concert, who knows?
Because fast is good
@@Cbrophy412 Not on every song. Atmosphere is sucked out when the tempo is too fast.
Coz they can.
3:25min beserk time: again, again, again....

Come closer and see
See into the trees
Find the girl
If you can
Come closer and see
See into the dark
Just follow your eyes
Just follow your eyes
I hear her voice
Calling my name
The sound is deep
In the dark
I hear her voice
And start to run
Into the trees
Into the trees
Into the trees
Suddenly I stop
But I know it's too late
I'm lost in a forest
All alone
The girl was never there
It's always the same
I'm running towards nothing
Again and again and again and again
~~~~~~~~
I think this has been speeded up a bit.
rememinds me of enjoy the silence by depeche mode. both great bands
Prachtige versie
Played fast it's a different song it's surprising how tempo changes a song
Dang this is zippy innit? Lol must have been feeling pretty good that night 😂
when you speed it up you can really hear the Joy Division influences
