As an ardent Fedal fan and having extensively followed the careers of Sampras and Agassi, I firmly believe that Djokovic is unequivocally the greatest tennis player in the history of the sport.
Just your opinion, as valid as any other.
@@juanquintana6070 Everyone is entitled to have an opinion but facts can't be disputed and the facts clearly show that Novak Djokovic is by far the greatest tennis player of all times.
Numbers don't lie, especially when Nadal, Novak and Federer spent the majority of their careers playing against each other and the same players.
So far
@@SuperAlex2504 so true! I’m fed up with Fedal fans excuses
I was a fervent Federer fan, 2019 Wimbledon ripped my heart out. Joker was my second favorite but overcoming all the vaccine bs and what he went through he gained so many fans worldwide outside tennis bc he didn’t bow down and made a stand for his beliefs many of us had. He used his platform and turns out he was right based of the clear medical hindsight how poorly and authoritarian cult like they handles everything
Novak's win is a win for me. He is one of the very very few top level athletes in any sport who represents courage, integrity, Christian faith. He has paid a heavy price for upholding these values. To see him win another Grand Slam - despite all the hate from the media, even from the wealthy system people in the stadium, who would have passed out from delirium had it been Federer or Nadal who had won - it feels damn good. Novak is a symbol of Resistance.
🍻 to that my brother
For me as well!
yes.. you are spot on. let’s us know he is a christian at the end of his games. Points to heaven. Just one of many reasons he is the greatest athlete of all time. God given gifts to reflect God’s glory.
I’m not a Christian but I love him for his integrity and courage against all of the tennis world. He is vegan, I love him for that too.
He is a truly honourable human being that we both love for his commitment to values ❤❤❤
Great comments! I wholeheartedly agree!!!
Amy looks so happy as she should be because she was the only one that told us that he would do it. And she was right. Good job Amy!
Exactly. Amy is so knowledgeable and perceptive!
Yep, this!
Amy is always wright... she speaks from the heart, where the other two try to be more politically correct.
She was right but for the wrong reasons. She didn't expect Alcaraz to break down physically and cramp up like that, don't think anybody did. She got the result right but the overall analysis was probably better from Gill and Joel, but that's what makes a great team right? There wasn't too much bias in one direction or another, it went in all directions and it makes for great discussion 😊
@@michaelklos8089 To be fair, Djokovic had performed marginally better than Alcaraz before the cramps started. Alcaraz really felt rushed by the depth of Djokovic shots. And looking at Djokovic history, his game always starts at a lower level at the start of the match, and rises as the match progresses. Also Djokovic won his last 100 grand slam matches when he got the lead of 1 sets to love
Privileged and lucky to watch Djokovic play for 13 years. Truly an inspiration. Congratulations Nole we all love you
17 years now...
He is great
It is not just the wins and records. It is the fact that he always had to battle the crowd and the media. No one, absolutely no one inclding both Federer and Rafa wouldve been able to handle rhat amount of pressure for years on end.
Just incredible. GOAT. Probably the greatest sportsman of all time.
Novak essentially was playing away games his entire career and yet prevailed. Unbelievable mental strength.
He was ridiculed in his early years for retiring matches due to health issues. Then when he started to beat them, they said he would only win a few slams, then they said he would never catch Federer, then they said his career would end due to his vax stance. They've been wrong at every turn!!
Djokovic is THE GOAT in sports history. There has never been in the history of sports in any sport that the 3 GOATs play in one generation. AND Djokovic prevailed.......,,,----....
,.-.-,.-,.-,.-,.-.,-,
Agreed...3 GOATs in one generation... and Djokovic prevailed...unbelievable!
Lin Dan is second GOAT for his dominance and longevity. Mentality wise, he is there with Djokovic. TOP TOP Tier
Congrats to Novak, the real tennis king, this is the first time Novak is leading in the race among the three.
Absolutely.
Yes and yes!!
Am a diehard Rafa fan and i gatta admit Novak is the greatest tennos player of all time.

AMY!! Nothing better than to see your HUGE smile right when the music starts :) I'm sure you are jumping inside as am I and other Nole fans!!! Greatness in front of our eyes. I'm exhausted and it's only 3:30 pm. Amount of emotion from the last 6 hours is draining and all I have been doing is listening to commentary after the match.. I have zero ambition to do anything in the home today but to listen and read all the thousand of comments who continue to hate on Djokovic or love that he won today :) The boldness of Tom Brady and the jacket ready for #23 Michael Jordan :)
Couldn't have said it better! 👏
She had a similar look when Novak beat Alcaraz haha
👍you nailed it! I'm exhausted as well, and it's only 2:30 pm my time 😂

I mean his level was insane!!! Backhand is unreal and forhand is ridiculous. Casper was absolutely destroying that ball especially in the 1st set, Novak was like ok, let me show you how it's done😅 at his age of 36 it's just getting unreal!!!
true.
Age ain't nothin but a number-- Aaliyah
Everyone can look great when you're fresh. Once you are in deep waters, can you maintain that. That's where Djokovic shines with his wars w Nadal/Stan the Man. You need to be on your A+ throughout the whole game to be able to win.
While I do agree that Djokovic’s level was extremely high in the final, it was nowhere near his peak level. He was incomparably better between 2011-2016. I’m sorry, but as much as I am a Djokovic diehard fan, I have to say that it is clear as day that Djokovic in 2023 has declined significantly compared to in 2011-2016. Just watch the matches and compare. 2023 Djokovic is a miniscule shadow of his prime self, and in a match between 2011 Djokovic and 2023 Djokovic, 2011 version would absolutely obliterate the 2023 version, it will even be more one-sided than the 2008 RG final. Fed fans always complain about how massively Federer declined after 2007, but they conveniently ignore the the decline of Djokovic after 2016, which was arguably worse than that of Federer. So anyone who is unable to triple bagel 2023 Djokovic under 2 hours has absolutely zero chance of matching peak Djokovic. Just watch the matches Djokovic played in between 2011 and 2016 and you will know what I mean.
@@theodorekim4193 I have watched his matches between 2011 and 2016 and do not understand what you mean. That's because there is nothing to be understood. You wanted to make a point out of no pint.
He plays just strong enough to win. If the competition was stronger this season, he would be playing stronger.
As a die hard Djoko's fan you missed a huge thing: Djokovic lifts his level of play as needed. And that's his most remarkable skill. *If you knew what you mean*, you'd know that the competition back then was way higher and stronger. Between 2011 and 2016 Djokovic had Federer and Nadal both in their primes (!!), Murray, Wawrinka, DelPotro, Ferrer, Davidenko, ...Wanna compare them to competition of 2023??
Keep learning.
Now finally all you trolls in comments are allowed say what we have all known for a long time. 😁😁😁
They won't stop. There's always some excuse. This time it's Alcarez's cramps. (Novak should have withdrawn....it's not fair...blah, blah, blah). Congrats champ!!👏🏻🏆
@@lauravettoretti1323 what? Novak's play gave Alcaraz cramps... this was not "by coincidence".
💯👍
I told you so everyone! I told you so!🙄
Now we don't have to say anything or write anything. The man did it on his own terms even after they tried to stop him because he refused an experimental therapeutic treatment that no healthy person needed. Sometimes the good and justice triumphs. This is one such situation.
Novak plays, with insight and supreme intelligence. And he has a creative streak too. He can sum up the other player's strategy and counterfeits it. That is exactly what he did with Alcaraz. Alcaraz had not experienced it and he started cramping.
You mean "counter" or "offset". "Counterfeit" means "falsification".
Even though a lot of fans in the metropolises wherein the four majors are held do not appreciate Nole's historic greatness, it was so nice to see non-tennis sporting greats show their appreciation. Nole having Tom Brady, a.k.a. the GOAT of American football, in his box was a subtle message that birds of a feather flock together.
And iron Mike 🥊
And Kilian Mbape ⚽
And Ibrakadabra! ⚽😊
In reference to the discussion surrounding Djokovic's age and physical prowess, I vividly recall his winner's speech during the 2019 Wimbledon final against Federer. Djokovic then 31 years old, graciously acknowledged Federer, who was then 38 years old, for his remarkable contribution in demonstrating that tennis players can continue to excel well into their thirties. Djokovic himself, in that speech, expressed his determination to follow in Federer's footsteps and continue playing at a high level as he ages.
Essentially, Federer paved the way for Djokovic and the injury prone Rafa - who has also achieved a similar feat by playing and emerging victorious in the second longest final in tennis history at the age of 36.
Considering Novak's good health, exceptional work ethic, and absence of significant injuries, I believe he will continue playing tennis until he reaches the age of 40 and maybe even beyond - Tom Brady style! Long may it continue.
He's also not vaxxxed, which is a huge plus for his long-term health.
Congrats to the great Novak Djokovich, a legend of tennis for his 23rd Slam!!
👍

The great, Djokovic. One of the very greatest sportspersons, that ever lived.
Novak is a complete player! A couple of things, 1) were it not for Covid and that accidental ball hitting the official, I could see him with at least 25-26 slams already, 2) the layoff between events is beneficial to his long term prospects and longevity, 3) I believe he will conquer all 4 slams this year, and 4) I see him finishing with 30 slams. Finally, he will retire when he is ready for the next phase of life and will not hang on to the sport. I wouldn’t be surprised if he becomes his son’s coach, as his son seems to have a passion for the sport and the skills. However, I don’t think he will beat the old man’s records but maybe competitive
Wimbledon is a pretty safe bet, but the USO will be very tricky with Medvedev, Alcaraz, Sinner and other good hardcourt players.
@@jacobschmidt2709 you are 100% correct on all accounts. If he win’s Wimbledon, I do not think he will meltdown again, as I think all of the crAziness these past few years has really hardened him a lot. Plus, he is just better than the rest.

Credit to ruud for losing well and being gracious. Deference and respect to an older, better opponent are traits that are best learned young. Some people never learn them.
At least now we know that whenever Ruud is on the final it will be an anticlimatic match and we can bet safely against him , he makes such weak GS finals .
@@ioaninmihail6470 ivan lendl lost in his first four slam finals. It does happen to good players.
Alcaraz can definitely run and play long, but those 1st 2 sets against Novak were more grueling than any 2 sets he played at US Open. He did so many sprints and long rallies. He wasn't put under that much pressure in his previous grand slam matches.
Alcaraz has never been challenged like this before and that's why he goes all in knowing he can play his game at will. Look at how he toyed with Musetti and Tsitsipas and those two were mentally done from the first few games. It's actually a detriment to Alcaraz's growth cos he has almost no one who can challenge him and make him out everything on the line.

Belief in himself, faith in god and yes, courage. Djokovic may annoy those who would prefer athletes to be simpletons but he is an example for all, athlete or non-athlete. He has accepted the insults, the ridiculous restrictions upon him just because he dared to refuse vaccination, yet he came back to be victorious in spite of all. If ever there would be an athlete to emulate, it is Novak Djokovic.

I second that !
Gill, Alcaraz said that it was the tension before the match as well as the physical intensity of the first two sets that resulted in full-body cramps.
"I would say the first set and the second set was really, really intense and I started to cramp in my arm," he said. "At the beginning of the third set I started to cramp every part of my body, not only the legs. The arms, as well, every part of the legs.
"The tension. The tension of the match. I started the match really nervous. The tension of the first set, the second set, it was really intense two sets. Really good rallies, tough rallies, drop shots, sprints, rallies. It's a combination of a lot of things. But the main thing, it was the tension that I had all the two first sets."
So, it was physical, as in because of the physical intensity that Djokovic brought against him, just as much as it was mental. His ability to run in the US Open isn’t really fully relevant here, because he was in control of a lot of those rallies, while at RG, he was often on the back foot, and even when he wasn’t, Djokovic was able to turn defense into offense so quickly, it was difficult for Carlos to keep up, especially in a BO5 format. That, coupled with the stress of being no.1 in a grand slam for the first time and the bookies’ fav, did him in, the latter is what Djokovic said as well.
Amy is so beautiful she is always smiling wow amy . and congrats to novak .

and for the people who say again he's so unpopular. NOBODY INTERESTS IN THIS. AND these days you just laugh at ali's haters. In the future, no one cares what the opposing fans have promised.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.....................-,.-,.-,.-,.-,
It's not the first time that Alcaraz cramped. It happened against Sinner as well. So it not just the pressure or stress of the occasion, it's also the quality that opponent throws at him. Alcaraz just burns out to stay in the match with that quality.
When?

Am I the only one on the planet seeing Alcaraz being perfectly healthy in the 4th set?
But cramps drain u of adrenaline
Sprint/marathon anlaogy is good -- my take is that he was playing as he always does - 110% for every ball - the difference is that wirh Novak it was even more. I also think that Carlitos will have been prepared for a slog - and he's capable of a long haul too, but as Joel says, maybe some strategic decisions to save energy. That will be hard for Carlos as it seems in his dna to try and get every ball. But I've seen Tsitsipas & Rune conserve energy at times by either not charging for drop shots, or point shortening. Carlos also point shortened in the US open final, so he can do it.
Joel - you nailed it - it does very feel like business with Novak.
Djoke is already the GOAT, but here are some records he could break that would cement his status even further:
Margaret Court’s 24 Grand Slams
Ken Rosewall Oldest Grand Slam Champion 37 years 1 Month.
Federer’s 46 Grand Slam semifinals (He’s 2 away from breaking it)
Federer’s 58 Grand Slam quarterfinals (He’s 4 away from breaking it)
Jimmy Connor’s 109 Titles
Jimmy Connor’s 1274 Total Matches Won
Jimmy Connor’s 1557 Total Matches Played

HIghly probable that in 3-4 year period Novak might win at least 3 out of 4 slams being age 33+ years! WOW! How Nole cought up to Roger & Rafa in the last 12 years-WHOAA! Calendar Slam too far away right now for me & maybe if/after he wins Wimbeldon. Wraps up #3 RG, historic #3 Career Grand Slam & historic #23 GS. Thought he would come out of the gate fast as well as drop-shot & volley a lot. Totally botched the prediction of tactics. Did none of that. Sketchy 1st set for Nole with lots of unforced errors & free points for Casper. Got back the break after some queezy games & then GOAT-mode 1st set tiebreaker. Then as Amy tweeted, it was predictably over...BABY!!! Another marquee Novak performance! Awesome stuff. Casper played tough in set 1 & set 3 so kudos & props to Ruud. Wise and utterly reasonable prediction about outcome of CA match. I too had faith, but was really scared. I know how long you've been on the Novak bandwagon, where few analysts have dared to tread. Given his level of self-actualization (ok, and "the machine), and how popular it is to be self-actualized, not to mention veggie, or is it vegan diet, I'm surprised more boomers and New Age types don't support him, but maybe such people don't follow sports. Novak is so Third Millennium. I think the plan is to force NextGen to take it. Sort of like Kung Fu. Then he'll tell CA: "Now grasshopper is ready."
Twenty-three sounds good to me, but we want more. Come, 24.
I think the channel should be named as Big 1. Djokovic is in the league of his Own
I love the optimism , but I think it’s all over in the grand slam count . I can not see Rafa winning a 5 set major on hardcourt or on grass if he comes back .
His only chance is next years French open & I don’t think he will be around for that long .
Don't underestimate the power of science, i bet we see him on rg next year
I agree but I've been wrong before. I didn't think Rafa could win majors after the age of 30. Anything can happen. I'd be amazed if Rafa can come back and be competitive on the tour. I wonder if he really wants to go there at this point. It's a long hard road to come back at his age with a long layoff and a lot of injuries. Even for Djokovic it will be tough to win another major. The young guys want it just as much.
@@andrewrivett3366 I can see Djokovic winning Wimbledon this year. He will only have to play Alcaraz in the final & if he can avoid Medvedev & Zverev until the semi’s or final he will be fine . None of the other guys have the game on grass to beat Djokovic .

There's no moving the goalposts now without removing them entirely.
@@andrewrivett3366 I've heard the most bizarre excuses. It's not about GS and how it's about inspiring others (for some reason they think Novak inst inspiring) etc. The worst was that Fed did it with a single hand back hand and how Novak does it with two. 🤣🤣🤣🤦

Great question by Joel if Djokovic beating Alcaraz emphatically in a 5-setter would’ve been more telling. If Alcaraz ever learns how Novak does what he does in Grand Slam matches that’ll be scary.
Yes, I was looking out for that 2021 documentary too!
In Djokovic Alcaraz SF it was not only the mental fortitude that was highlighted.
Djokovic outmatched him tennis wise too, On Clay!!.
Next time they'll play on a faster surface and Djoker will have a slightly more advantage.
Let's calm down Carlos Alcaraz was in his 2nd Major semifinals, Novak in his 45th. Carlos Alcaraz had no experience and he cramped, he wasn't out played by Novak!
