Latest Novak’s statement for Serbian news: “As far as the record for the number of ATP tournaments won is concerned, anything is possible. Why shouldn't I try to break that record as well? Now I have 12 less (Novak 97 - Connors 109) but I also have a few more years of successful tennis, I try to enjoy these moments that now mean and are worth - double. When you consider the stage of my life and career that I'm in, winning a tournament this big - although it may seem routine to people, and it's not at all - every win at the Masters and Grand Slam levels really means so much to me. I'm going for all possible records, all that I can break. I've never had a problem saying that - And that's why people don't like me; I didn't pretend to be someone - to say that it's not my goal, and then to behave differently... I always tried to be in line with what I believe!"
He is so mentally tough and has reduced unforced errors to an unbelievably small amount. He doesn't seem to show any negative effects from his age. Quite an amazing athlete. He seems more hungry than ever to be a better player and seems to adjust to any game or style that is thrown his way. These young players must be wondering what they need to do. I thought Dimitrov's style and strategy were great but he just couldn't keep up with Djokovic's consistency on the long rallies. So close but Novak's mental toughness and will stubbornly will not allow himself to make an unforced error. You will very rarely see Novak get down on himself and he is always congratulating the other players for good shots. He is a great role model and sets a wonderful example for young spectators and players to learn from. He just keeps improving. He is a tennis scholar.
The GOAT Djokovic will finish year end #1 for a record extending 8th time despite playing 5 fewer tournaments than Alcaraz. One win at the ATP Finals and he is guaranteed 406 weeks at #1😮
I’ll be honest, Amy and to some degree Mr. Druker give Novak any kind of credit. Amy does realize that NOLE is a tennis genius. Gill tends to twist himself into conniptions to say anything positive about Novak. I do think he’s very smart and knowledgeable though. Let’s just admit the obvious, Novak is in a class by himself. GOAT👏👏👏
Novak the Goat! Not by an inch or two, he's worlds apart from his opponents. What separates him is his power of will. He's in a different galaxy at this point.
2023 was the year of redemption and revenge for Novak : - banned in AO 22 , won it in 2023 - won RG to overtake Nadal in the slam race in his home tournament like Nadal din in AO 22 - banned from USO 22 , won it in 2023 - lost the 2022 Paris final to Rune , he beat Rune in qf and then won it - 2022 lost the year end no.1 due to politics not allowing him to compete and now he’s 99% lock on ye no.1
Really great to listen to your show again. Novak and Dimitrov both looked a bit spent in this one, and the final was more about who made the least amount of unforced errors. The Final lacked the drama and entertainment value of the two SFs. This final was underwhelming. Not many break point opp's. Amazing to witness Novak's legacy continue, and seeing how he keeps finding ways to win. He is the best energy manager of matches. Alcaraz could learn a lot from Novak about pacing himself and knowing when to exert his all for points and when to conserve. Tough luck for Dimitrov. Can't help but wonder if that was his last Masters 1000 Final performance. Hope it's not because he had a fantastic week. He seems to have outlasted the fitness of his contemporaries like Nishikori and Raonic. Has Dimitrov reached his ceiling? Beating Medvedev and Tsitsipas was so impressive, but Novak made him look ordinary.
"Alcaraz could learn a lot from Novak about pacing himself and knowing when to exert his all for points and when to conserve." Novak soon will be gone forever, be it in 1 or 2 years, then Carlos will take over. Novak at Carlos' age right now didn't even win his first Grand Slam yet, Carlos already won 2 of them.😅😅 Carlitos is still the youngest world No. 1 (19 years, 4 months) and the youngest year-end No. 1 (19 years, 7 months) in men's tennis history ever. Records Novak will never break.😅😅
Amy: "Djokovic is not normal.....he's a freak of nature!" LOL. Yes, it's perhaps the greatest anomaly in pro sports to win 3 of 4 Slams at the age of 36 and make all 4 Finals. What Novak has lost in speed and desperation defence, he's compensated with more muscle mass, flatter harder FHs and better net play and S+V play. Always finding ways to adapt to his body and court surface and maximize his abilities.
Always welcome those nuggets from Joel. Has such a deep knowledge of the history of our sport. Shame the final didn't deliver. Both SF were terrific though and loved seeing Dimitrov get those big wins.
Missed these analyses. Hope you create more content, there should a lot to talk about Novak and what Federer and Nadal are doing, please don’t wait until a trophy
It's been a while since the dynamic trio got together! Hi Gill! It was so awesome to meet you by chance in La Jolla! hoping I can meet Amy and Joel someday too 💜🎾
The final was underwhelming but tbh that was to be expected after they both played long matches for like four straight days. And yeah Gill you are right about year-ending ranking - Novak needs to win at least one match or in case he loses all three Alcaraz would need to win event unbeaten to edge Novak.
Novak is amazing in that he can win whilst playing badly - not at his best. Rafa and Roger could do that also, but not as much as Novak. He is simply outstanding. 👏

Firstly - GREAT TO SEE YOU GUYS GILL, JOEL & AMY ! :) A musical montage tribute: Starting w/Bill Hailey 'Rock Around the Clock;, then Queen's opening stanzas 'We are the Champions', then Bowie 'Golden Years' , then Eagles 'Take it to the Limit' ending w/Louis Armstrong's 'Wonderful World' = Supernatural-Sublime-Supernal-Gritty-Determined-SUPERB! I think Djokovic was extra tough this year because the year-end no 1 ranking was at stake. He is very goal oriented. I remember him losing to sonego 6-1 6-2, when he had achieved #1 that year. Great analysis as always. Missed you guys.
History is repeating.Once there was Rome Colloseum and people loved to watch battle of Gladiators. All Gladiators in that time had strength of 10 people but there was one stronger and smarter than all of them.He was from Serbia and his name was Spartacus(Spartak).West World would say no he was Tracian but the real truth is Tracia is teritory of today Serbia so...Today you have modern Roman Colloseum and modern Gladiator who just refuse to lose. There is only one true champion and his name is Novak Djokovic.
Time to put Djokovic's name first in the lower right corner. Putting him third doesn't show the respect that we should all have for this man, the GOAT of tennis.
Joel: “arms are doing the work, here comes the body” - brilliant! The only convincing explanation I’ve heard for why Medvedev looks so different and ungainly on the court (compared to everyone else except Norrie) even though Daniel’s fast and gets to the ball. Joel: The arms get to the ball, the body lags.
He did but I think missing these slams and masters has actually helped him. He may have burnt out earlier but these forced emissions has given him valuable time to rest and spend with his family! Now look at whete he is!
I was at a financial conference several years ago and a legendary value investor by the name of Thomas Russo referenced "high capacity to suffer" when you invest in a company's stock. Meaning, it might take a several years for your investment to reward you with an increase in capital gains and higher dividends, so you need to train yourself to have a "high capacity to suffer." Listening to your show today about Djokovic in this tournament and I believe the same description applies to him. He has a high capacity to suffer.
many recently say that the greatest achievement in tennis is 14 titles at Roland Garros!! of course it's a great achievement but how can it be a greater achievement than 24,25,26... total grand slams? is it easier to target three months each year around one tournament and win that or to be ready all season and win any one throughout the year? I don't think we should mention and wonder about Joker's age anymore, because as he himself says, they are less important, because he simply reads the game better and, like in chess, he is always one or two moves ahead, which allows him to move more easily and sets and as long as he has the strength to run he will be able to play.
BRAVO! Love you guys ☺️ “Freak of Nurture…” “Nothing validates a process more than a good outcome…” -Joel; genius insights. Clearly Novak has a supremely predictive system that’s continuously being validated :-)
Novak so could have checked out in this tournament especially after Alcaraz, Medvedev, and Sinner were gone. But thats not the way he rolls.. Best Ever.. such a privilege to watch him.
It's interesting. There's still some "FedAl" residue everywhere. That's a testament of just how deep the marketing programming for Federer and Nadal goes. Yes, they were both great. But incomplete and deficient. Pure game completeness wise - I'd say that Laver, Sampras, Andre were ahead of Federer and Nadal. Simply - you can't be among the greatest if you don't have a backhand. It's half of the game and Neither Nadal or Federer have it. And, tbh, the mental toughness of those two is not at the needed level. Djokovic is the most complete tennis player that we've ever seen. Didn't have overhead - now it's top shelve, didn't have a slice - now he's winning with it, didn't have a net game - now he's playing S&V for the whole matches, his serve was awful till 2014 - now it's one of the best, if not the best, in the world. There's no weakness now in his game - there's no element, technical or otherwise, that he's missing. Just a complete tennis player. And at 36 - he's physically most capable and best prepared athlete in tennis. Only Lebron James compares. No one else, in any other sport.
Novak has all the records. The most majors, the most masters 1000, the most ATP Final Titles (tied with Roger), the most weeks at #1, the most year ends at #1. However, at the macro level, he still has plenty of incentives to continue winning. Let us be honest, with a player like Carlos lurking about, none of Novak's records are safe. That kid is supremely talented, and he has 15+ years ahead of him to match, and break, several of Novak's records. The more Novak wins now, the better his head to head against Carlos, and the better his chances of holding on to this records. And at the micro level, Novak still has plenty of motivation to continue playing and winning, because in each tournament, he is 1 title away from matching or breaking a record: 1. ATP Final 2023: Novak is tied with Roger at 6 titles for the most ever by a male player. He wins one more, and he is along at the top. 2. Australian Open 2024: Novak is one behind Margaret Court, who has 11 titles. If he wins one more, he is tied with Margaret Court for the most Australian Open titles 3. Monte Carlo 2024: Novak has completed the Career slam three times, and he is one Monte Carlo title away from completing the career Golden Masters 3 times. 4. French Open 2024: Novak completed his third career slam when he won the 2023 French Open, something that only Steffi Graf has accomplished. If he wins the French Open in 2024, he becomes the only player, make or female, to have completed the career slam four times. 5. Wimbledon 2024: Novak is one behind Federer's 8 titles at Wimbledon. If he wins the 2024 Wimbledon title, he is tied with Roger for the most titles by a male player. 6. Olympics 2024: Novak has never won the Olympic Gold. In fact, of the 15 "Big titles", the Olympic Gold is the only one he has yet to win. 7. US Open 2024: Novak is tied with Johnny Mac and Rafa at 4 titles, and only one behind Connors, Sampras and Roger. If he wins the US Open 2024 title, he is tied for the most US Opens by a male player. Novak has plenty of motivation to continue playing for the next 2 seasons. Scary as it may sound for Novak detractors, even in the case of Australian Open, the French Open, Wimbledon and the US Open, Novak has plenty of motivation to win each of those titles two more times.
Ms. Lundy it’s a pity you are married. You are pretty, well spoken and actually know more about tennis than I do. If you weren’t married I’d be parked outside your place and wouldn’t move until you agreed.
May be Novak wants to move far and far ahead, in terms of achievements and records, of the other two of the Big 3 who are ahead of him in terms of popularity in the biased West. May be it is his way of taking revenge against the West which even today keeps belittling him.
For the panel - is it possible that players don’t approach the net against Djokovic, it’s because they have in the back of their mind that the best returner in the game is across the net?
Novak soon will be gone forever, be it in 1 or 2 years, then Carlos will take over. Federer has beaten Djokovic “on occasion”??!! LOL. Roger has beaten a 6 yrs younger Novak 23 times. Djoker has 27 wins. The difference is just 4 matches. For 2 men who come from different generations!!
Disaster predictions by Gill ,doesn't even accept how wrong he was,not good,to look this off with reality - doesn't understand than Novak as a tennis player passed everybody in history- he can challenge any sports legend - PELE,PHELPS,GTRETZKY,BRADY,ALI ETC- he is better than anybody, age, dominance ,records - unmatched !

6:06 it's a pity that many young players are choosing elegance or brute force vs longevity..
May be Novak wants to move far and far ahead, in terms of achievements and records,
of the other two of the Big 3 who are ahead of him in terms of popularity in the biased West. May be it is his way of taking revenge against the West which even today keeps belittling him.
For the panel - is it possible that players don’t approach the net against Djokovic, it’s because they have in the back of their mind that the best returner in the game is across the net?
👍💯❤
I’m so happy that I’m Serbian so I don’t need to have this mental/soul dilemma like people that are no Serbian…
Reading the comments from Novak Djokovic stans is amusing 😂😂 All they want to talk about is how Novak is the goat 😂
@MrBjorn6 or stalk me that’s what they rather do then enjoy djokovic tennis embarrassing if u ask me
You should change the name of the show.
I rather watch these three knowledgeable tennis analysts over that rude and sloppy Aussie guy, Cam William, any day of the week.❤❤❤
FEDERER WAS THE BEST HUMAN TENNIS PLAYERS OF ALL TIMES. NOVAK DJOKOVIC IS NOT HUMAN !
Y'all fell for it.
Novak is rafined to perfection...
Why does Novak always play to the crowd for applause and approval?
bc he's the 🐐
Novak soon will be gone forever, be it in 1 or 2 years, then Carlos will take over.
Serious question: Why are tennis trophies so ugly?
In this Novak’s Prime years he better break all of his records. Once he hits 40’s he will start losing more then winning
Federer has beaten Djokovic “on occasion”??!! LOL. Roger has beaten a 6 yrs younger Novak 23 times. Djoker has 27 wins. The difference is just 4 matches. For 2 men who come from different generations!!
You really should introduce the Lady first.
