Latest Novak’s statement for Serbian news: “As far as the record for the number of ATP tournaments won is concerned, anything is possible. Why shouldn't I try to break that record as well? Now I have 12 less (Novak 97 - Connors 109) but I also have a few more years of successful tennis, I try to enjoy these moments that now mean and are worth - double. When you consider the stage of my life and career that I'm in, winning a tournament this big - although it may seem routine to people, and it's not at all - every win at the Masters and Grand Slam levels really means so much to me. I'm going for all possible records, all that I can break. I've never had a problem saying that - And that's why people don't like me; I didn't pretend to be someone - to say that it's not my goal, and then to behave differently... I always tried to be in line with what I believe!"

He is so mentally tough and has reduced unforced errors to an unbelievably small amount. He doesn't seem to show any negative effects from his age. Quite an amazing athlete. He seems more hungry than ever to be a better player and seems to adjust to any game or style that is thrown his way. These young players must be wondering what they need to do. I thought Dimitrov's style and strategy were great but he just couldn't keep up with Djokovic's consistency on the long rallies. So close but Novak's mental toughness and will stubbornly will not allow himself to make an unforced error. You will very rarely see Novak get down on himself and he is always congratulating the other players for good shots. He is a great role model and sets a wonderful example for young spectators and players to learn from. He just keeps improving. He is a tennis scholar.

2023 was the year of redemption and revenge for Novak :
    - banned in AO 22 , won it in 2023
    - won RG to overtake Nadal in the slam race in his home tournament like Nadal din in AO 22
    - banned from USO 22 , won it in 2023
    - lost the 2022 Paris final to Rune , he beat Rune in qf and then won it
    - 2022 lost the year end no.1 due to politics not allowing him to compete and now he’s 99% lock on ye no.1

Really great to listen to your show again. Novak and Dimitrov both looked a bit spent in this one, and the final was more about who made the least amount of unforced errors. The Final lacked the drama and entertainment value of the two SFs. This final was underwhelming. Not many break point opp's. Amazing to witness Novak's legacy continue, and seeing how he keeps finding ways to win. He is the best energy manager of matches. Alcaraz could learn a lot from Novak about pacing himself and knowing when to exert his all for points and when to conserve.
Tough luck for Dimitrov. Can't help but wonder if that was his last Masters 1000 Final performance. Hope it's not because he had a fantastic week. He seems to have outlasted the fitness of his contemporaries like Nishikori and Raonic. Has Dimitrov reached his ceiling? Beating Medvedev and Tsitsipas was so impressive, but Novak made him look ordinary.

Novak soon will be gone forever, be it in 1 or 2 years, then Carlos will take over. Novak at Carlos' age right now didn't even win his first Grand Slam yet, Carlos already won 2 of them.😅😅 Carlitos is still the youngest world No. 1 (19 years, 4 months) and the youngest year-end No. 1 (19 years, 7 months) in men's tennis history ever. Amy: "Djokovic is not normal.....he's a freak of nature!" LOL. Yes, it's perhaps the greatest anomaly in pro sports to win 3 of 4 Slams at the age of 36 and make all 4 Finals. What Novak has lost in speed and desperation defence, he's compensated with more muscle mass, flatter harder FHs and better net play and S+V play. Always finding ways to adapt to his body and court surface and maximize his abilities.

I was at a financial conference several years ago and a legendary value investor by the name of Thomas Russo referenced "high capacity to suffer" when you invest in a company's stock. Meaning, it might take a several years for your investment to reward you with an increase in capital gains and higher dividends, so you need to train yourself to have a "high capacity to suffer." Listening to your show today about Djokovic in this tournament and I believe the same description applies to him. He has a high capacity to suffer.

many recently say that the greatest achievement in tennis is 14 titles at Roland Garros!! of course it's a great achievement but how can it be a greater achievement than 24,25,26... total grand slams? is it easier to target three months each year around one tournament and win that or to be ready all season and win any one throughout the year? I don't think we should mention and wonder about Joker's age anymore, because as he himself says, they are less important, because he simply reads the game better and, like in chess, he is always one or two moves ahead, which allows him to move more easily and sets and as long as he has the strength to run he will be able to play.

His perspective was that real knowledge, real leadership is the ability to predict future outcomes with high probability-which a good system/process greatly supports. Clearly Novak has a supremely predictive system that’s continuously being validated :-)

It's interesting. There's still some "FedAl" residue everywhere. That's a testament of just how deep the marketing programming for Federer and Nadal goes.
Yes, they were both great. But incomplete and deficient.
Pure game completeness wise - I'd say that Laver, Sampras, Andre were ahead of Federer and Nadal.
Simply - you can't be among the greatest if you don't have a backhand. It's half of the game and Neither Nadal or Federer have it. And, tbh, the mental toughness of those two is not at the needed level.
Djokovic is the most complete tennis player that we've ever seen. Didn't have overhead - now it's top shelve, didn't have a slice - now he's winning with it, didn't have a net game - now he's playing S&V for the whole matches, his serve was awful till 2014 - now it's one of the best, if not the best, in the world. There's no weakness now in his game - there's no element, technical or otherwise, that he's missing.
    Just a complete tennis player.
And at 36 - he's physically most capable and best prepared athlete in tennis.
Only Lebron James compares. No one else, in any other sport.

Novak has all the records. The most majors, the most masters 1000, the most ATP Final Titles (tied with Roger), the most weeks at #1, the most year ends at #1. However, at the macro level, he still has plenty of incentives to continue winning. Let us be honest, with a player like Carlos lurking about, none of Novak's records are safe. That kid is supremely talented, and he has 15+ years ahead of him to match, and break, several of Novak's records. The more Novak wins now, the better his head to head against Carlos, and the better his chances of holding on to this records.
And at the micro level, Novak still has plenty of motivation to continue playing and winning, because in each tournament, he is 1 title away from matching or breaking a record:
    1. ATP Final 2023: Novak is tied with Roger at 6 titles for the most ever by a male player. He wins one more, and he is along at the top.
    2. Australian Open 2024: Novak is one behind Margaret Court, who has 11 titles. If he wins one more, he is tied with Margaret Court for the most Australian Open titles
    3. Monte Carlo 2024: Novak has completed the Career slam three times, and he is one Monte Carlo title away from completing the career Golden Masters 3 times.
    4. French Open 2024: Novak completed his third career slam when he won the 2023 French Open, something that only Steffi Graf has accomplished. If he wins the French Open in 2024, he becomes the only player, make or female, to have completed the career slam four times.
    5. Wimbledon 2024: Novak is one behind Federer's 8 titles at Wimbledon. If he wins the 2024 Wimbledon title, he is tied with Roger for the most titles by a male player.
    6. Olympics 2024: Novak has never won the Olympic Gold. In fact, of the 15 "Big titles", the Olympic Gold is the only one he has yet to win.
    7. US Open 2024: Novak is tied with Johnny Mac and Rafa at 4 titles, and only one behind Connors, Sampras and Roger. If he wins the US Open 2024 title, he is tied for the most US Opens by a male player.
Novak has plenty of motivation to continue playing for the next 2 seasons. Scary as it may sound for Novak detractors, even in the case of Australian Open, the French Open, Wimbledon and the US Open, Novak has plenty of motivation to win each of those titles two more times.

Ms. Lundy it’s a pity you are married. You are pretty, well spoken and actually know more about tennis than I do. If you weren’t married I’d be parked outside your place and wouldn’t move until you agreed.

May be Novak wants to move far and far ahead, in terms of achievements and records,
of the other two of the Big 3 who are ahead of him in terms of popularity in the biased West. May be it is his way of taking revenge against the West which even today keeps belittling him.

For the panel - is it possible that players don’t approach the net against Djokovic, it’s because they have in the back of their mind that the best returner in the game is across the net?

Novak soon will be gone forever, be it in 1 or 2 years, then Carlos will take over. Novak at Carlos' age right now didn't even win his first Grand Slam yet, Carlos already won 2 of them.😅😅 Carlitos is still the youngest world No. 1 (19 years, 4 months) and the youngest year-end No. 1 (19 years, 7 months) in men's tennis history ever. Records Novak will never break.😅😅

Federer has beaten Djokovic “on occasion”??!! LOL. Roger has beaten a 6 yrs younger Novak 23 times. Djoker has 27 wins. The difference is just 4 matches. For 2 men who come from different generations!!
