Larry Chen's Supercharged Toyota GR86 "Daily Drifter"

- Larry Chen’s “Daily Drifter” 2022 Toyota GR86, built in partnership with Toyota, is inspired by Formula Drift cars. However, he desired to build something that was closer to what enthusiasts could afford. Larry added a supercharger to the factory GR86 FA24D (with six-speed manual, like the real Formula Drifters) to achieve 300 horsepower, a prodigious bump up from 228. A variety of aftermarket components contribute to the performance and cosmetic enhancements. Larry indicates the total cost for the build is $80,000 - though that sounds expensive, but it’s nowhere near as much as the 1000-horse Formula Drift cars that inspired the build.

Shouldn't you show the car... not two of you ??? !!!
It's all great until you hear it costed 80k
Yeah but more than half of that is cosmetic bs you don't need....the super charger was 6 or 7k.
I spent less than 5k on my turbo for my twin.
Lots of labor and lots of track/custom parts. Not much wasn't touched. No surprise there. Not really comparable to a stock Corvette, Porsche, Supra, etc because it is just so unique and modified.
@@FC-oh3hohow so

Larry Chen said it costed him 80k
Universal rims? Why.... so ugly with the extra holes
gorgeous vehicle
Film the car while you talk, barely saw the damn thing....yak, yak, yak.
fucking thank you
Is there somewhere to find a build list?
HKS GT2 supercharger Pro ZD8 kit, HKS exterior package, MagnaFlow NEO cat-back exhaust, all aluminum CSF radiator, StopTech Big Brake kit, Motegi Racing MR154 Battle wheels, GK Tech steering angle kit, a OS Gaiken "Super Lock" 1.5 way rear differential, ST Suspensions ST XTA Plus 3 coilovers, adjustable control arms and adjustable sway bar links from SPL parts, Toyota GR strut tower brace, and Studio RSR four-point roll cage.
🎉
Here we are almost a year later and you still cant buy a supercharger with tuning.
hks japan sells their fcon with tunning for the supercharger for about 970 usd. hks usa doesnt have it listed and dont know why
@@juanriveracaseuno My guess is because it is not an adopted tuning system in the US. No shops are going to mess with it. Also piggyback type systems are pretty frowned upon here moreso than the rest of the world. Its more of a band-aid than a real solution. Proper tuning has been available through Ecutek for quite a while now, yet there are still no supercharger kits out there. Im sure someone could buy the HKS kit and have it custom tuned with Ecutek. Again though, who wants to do that without seeing some results to know what they are getting? The rotrex knockoff blowers HKS sells are known to fail like crazy on every platform they have been used on as well, so there is that.
Only 300 with a 2.4 that’s low the hks supercharger for frs put out 320 with a 2.0 that 2022 brz should be at least 410
its a flagship car, their goal is not to push hp, but to have a reliable level.
Probably a conservative tune
Probably was a pump gas tune (no E85) and conservative. I'm sure there is more torque for that 300hp.
It is kinda crazy when you think about, say a 2.0 SR20 from the 90’s that ppl were pushing well OVER 300whp from bolt ons and tune , after working on them in their garage lol
Just get the basic stock car + supercharger
Larry chen said he didn’t have any money
They dont seem to like eachother
