excited for the turbo kit! was waiting for someone to do this!
Removing the rubber stripping at the back of the hood would have the opposite to the desired effect on cooling. The top side of the hood at the windscreen is a high pressure zone whereas the underside of the hood is stagnant low pressure air meaning the extracted hot air from the vents would just get sucked back into bay.
Sort out some ducting behind the bumper to force the air into the cooler/radiator and that should fix the coolinhg issues.
I think Japanese 98 Octane is that other scale, so it’s equivalent to 93 Octane in the US
HKS, if you area reading this, I will go buy a GR86 if you sponsor me a turbo kit like this for testing!
Larry, I loved the video content and the format. I've been on my own track car build for several years and have gone through similar issues. This insight was great and the build is amazing. I followed you for some time now and I'm really happy to see you get back on track.
Sweet, love road courses, can't wait for upcoming contents! ❤
Been waiting for this video
Loving the Larry does racing content 👍👍👍👍
So nice and informative. Thank you!
Awesome car, nice build!
love the global sensor camera you have mounted on your cage! cant wait to get my hands on global shutter on a mirrorless system will be ground breaking!
Thanks Larry for the content. Regarding the venting of hot air from the engine bay. Leave all the rubber trim at windscreen cowling. This is a high pressure area and best to leave trim intact to avoid high pressure air at base of windscreen push into the engine bay and slow the removal of hot air from the vented hood. This info was from a few years ago on the FRS/GT86 forum.
You’ll need to duct the front end to the radiator to ensure that all air that enters the grille is forced through the radiator and cooler. That should solve the cooling issues once and for all.
You'll also run into some fueling issues in the 86 if you intend to wheel-to-wheel race the car that you probably won't experience in a time trial session. Feel free to contact me for some build guidance.
My gr86 is so jealous of your gr86. But you gotta bring back the white wheels😩😩😩
Illuminating
hks are the king of Jdm my son liken the build Kidd she’s quality 🔥💯💪🏻
GReddy also done a lot of nice kits over he years that were OEM friendly, particularly Honda/Acura. It was cool you could get a dealer installed turbo kit on a brand new Integra GSR and still retain the warranty.
What an awesome build. In the words of the Donut Media guys...MO POWAA BABY!!!!!
Love it ❤
I didn't know Larry was doing either of these motor sports 😂 nice car bro
Sik Larry, totally tubular!
My buddy has the HKS turbo kit on his FRS with a built bottom end. Makes a little over 400whp.
That really is a very nice turbocharger kid! 😁
Yo thinking about ebaying that supercharger? Lol
Run it at Buttonwillow!
heat treat or wrap your headers and a turbo blanket, gold reflect tape, bigger inter cooler.
That other yt guy just did 1:56 NA in a new GR. Shouldn't be an issue with your car. Good luck.
The foam filters, not a fan of. I've extracted a few of those from plenums of various engines. They look cool when they are clean tho.
Please come drive UMC!! NASA Nationals there in September!
This turbo kit is definitely one of the best on the market, not to mention how it looks!
Is jdl better
Are you going to be at GTA ridge speed summit this year.
Did you remove the angle kit?
What cars are in your hot wheels display?
Where do you buy this. I want one for my 2023 BRZ
Need HKS to say this is CARB legal and I forcefully shove money to them 😂
Hmmm i dont see how adding a turbo will produce less heat but im in to see the results
The hks supercharger was a time bomb in the first gen. Turbo is funnily more reliable in this case!
I own a GR86 whats up with that HKS supercharger kit??? 🤔
Bbaddassery yo.👍🏼👍🏼🤜🏼🤛🏼🇯🇵⛩
Crazy cool! 👍
❤turbo❤
Brother you should twin charge it haha
Get a seat mounted both to the floor AND cage.
✌️
Why not twin charge it ? Best of both worlds .
Twin turbo? On a 86??
Dang sure a good ol k20 from 20 years ago with 200k will make another 100hp on that turbo same boost lol
Turbo is only on the floor, not in the car
It would be cool if you shipped it to nordschleiffe and collabed with Misha!!!!!!
Selling that hood? Lol
Gotta watch Larry Chen at 1.25x 🥱
If you have a supercharged car and then you go turbocharged you need a straight jacket. You should not be allowed among normal people
ugh, piggy back is so ugly. Link pnp or open source tune is the way.
Dude… CA sucks. This emissions crap is annoying. Believe me, I love the environment and want to protect it, but isn’t this supposed to be a race car for the most part? Why would you want to drive this one the street? If I were you Larry, I’d just hop in my beautiful GTR lol.
It’s not 1970 any more. You can make crazy HP and still pass emissions test. Factory cars have 600+ hp motors, even 700! IMSA race cars have cats, 500+hp, and run 24 hr races. It’s really just lazy to remove emissions stuff these days. I did it back in the day with my Mustangs because they ran better, could make so much more power than any cat equipped car, but these days it’s possible to make crazy power and still run cats. I’m glad I don’t have to run catless to make a good running car, it was annoying to have a car that smelled bad and made me smell like fuel.
@@joeracer302considering how rich people’s tunes run and how small those aftermarket cars are, I wonder how long they’d even be useful for
