That’s all they think & care about, these people are degenerates, it’s actually funny because I see some horrendous things on X with gay guys, I go onto their pages and it’s post after post of explicit pictures of different guys just ramming each other. There’s a lot of this in BL manga, I just find it bizarre how people just endlessly post this stuff on their pages.
Never ever have I read a superhero comic book to find out the sexual orientation of the main character. Spider-Man's appeal wasn't because Peter Parker was straight, never mind that I was reading ASM before having any real awareness of my own sexual orientation. Being white did not prevent me from enjoying Black Panther or Luke Cage. Being male did not prevent me from liking Wonder Woman. Being alive did not diminish my enjoyment of The Spectre. Tim Sheridan is not a writer. He's a hack. He's filling his lack of talent with a current political agenda because he lacks imagination. Alan Scott deserves better. We all do.
@@johnpglackin345 And yet he lived with his aunt and was constantly worried about her, had a straight A average and wore sweaters all the time. OR you could note that I did mention when I started reading ASM I was too young to even notice the soap opera aspects.
As usual you hit the nail on the head. As a 40 plus year old man who’s been collecting comics for probably 35 years it’s incredibly frustrating to hear these creators call many of us names and tell us we’re the problem when it’s been us who kept your industry afloat prior to the comic book movie explosion. Now they want to cater to the person who buys a funko pop and has seen all the mcu movies and thinks they are the true fan base.
I agree with you Tony. I've been reading comics since the late 80's and I'm frustrated like you. My solution is to not buy any comic that Tim Sheridan works on. It's we the readers who are buying the comics because without us people like him won't have a job.
A phobia? I’m pretty sure comic readers are not fearful of homosexuality, they just don’t want it shoehorned into an established history of a beloved character. My only fear is there’s no way back for the classic comic book structure.
It's hilarious lol not like homos are monsters to be feared what's even more hilarious is the term fatphobic but they use it to degrade them and keepin em as voting tools
According to Queer Theory, everyone is gay, and homophibia is the only reason we don't consent. They're no longer aiming for tolerance. They're demanding love.
People like Tim Sheridan playing the Queerphobe card are emotionally manipulative, duplicitous scum of the worst kind. The sort I am past tired of. Thank God for the free market.
It's bad enough that they keep producing woke comics that don't sell. They have to also call their customers morally defective for not wanting their comics.
The absolute destruction of the JSA and characters associated with it leaves me with my head hung low. It's just sad the state these iconic Golden Age characters are in.
@@rammisalami If you read the new Justice League vs Godzilla vs King Kong you would know that there is a 6 page preview of the "Alan Scott" book. This is why people are upset. The preview is GARBAGE.
Imagine you grew up as a kid in The Golden Age of comics and Alan Scott/Green Lantern was your favorite superhero. Imagine in your twilight years some 20 year old SJW with no life skills decides he’s going to make your favorite childhood hero gay to support an “agenda”. Pathetic. Gee, I don’t understand why it doesn’t sell!!!
I work in the film business and have sat in so many meetings the last few years where it starts with writers saying "what I'm trying to say" it's never "you know what would be great and entertaining"?
These days, being called "queerphobes" and/or "trolls" for not wanting established characters forcibly turned into that or having new characters brought in whose existence is solely to be queer is more like a badge of honor; especially with how much worse off everything is.
Racist, homophobe, misogynist means absolutely nothing to me anymore! If those terms mean I hate these sh*tty comics then so be it! If they think I'll ever spend another dime on this garbage they are going to be extremely disappointed! 😂 Back issues! Yeah! Thats the ticket!
Well they mean one thing. Racist = You disagree with me, and there are multiple skin colors on the earth. Homophobe = You disagree with me, and there are gay people on the earth. Misogynist = You disagree with me, and there are women on the earth.
These words have been so overused on people that are not those things, that the words are now meaningless. Usually when I hear these people call someone a “phobe” or an “ist” you can pretty much guarantee that person is a really good guy. Because these people are just the worst, and the people they dislike are usually the good guys.
People also kind of overuse Nazi and pedophile. There are dudes who just dated younger women not even underage women who have been adults for a decade or more and they’ll still say that’s a pedophile. Also when it’s a woman who dates a much younger gut they have a totally opposite response of you go girl. And Nazis you don’t need to do anything at all they just use that one regardless. They don’t have points so they fill in with insults.
@@ComeAlongKay Twitter is full of these people, I’ve seen them attack people over a 4 year age gap, they actually say things like “what would a 23 year old have in common with a 19 year old?”, calling that pedo. They also call people pedo for liking loli fictional characters in manga, these are characters that are adults. X is full of these people, they also treat fictional characters as real, and real people as fictional.
I’m so sick of people like this acting like they’re being “inclusive” by using 🏳️🌈, women, and POC as a shield to deflect from their awful writing and products.
It's practically part of the comics industry now. I mean if I want to break into comics, I should make a black lesbian character. Oh wait, basically Batwoman series 2-3.....wonder why it's not on tv anymore? Oh yes, it was trash. But wait , i BET it will sell like hottcakes. Dynamic Dark Dyke, coming to a comic book store shelf near you.....where it will sit till its moved to the dollar bins. Youll read better backing boards.
@@willgillies5670 I thought seasons 2 and 3 did slightly better than season 1, but too many viewers had been put off by season 1 for it to do any good.
Tim Sheridan: "Please buy my poltical agenda book so I can owned the chuds! I desperately need money and attention!" Everyone: "Who the fuck are you?!"
Just read Batman Year One for the first time a few days ago and MAN the difference in writing compared to modern DC is MASSIVE. I actually enjoyed the book!
To be fair, that was an exceptional book for its time, so it’s hard to hold it up as a standard. A lot books of that era were bad too… they were just bad in a more acceptable way because they focused on a lot of action (like a super hero comic probably should).
I recently read the first Black Lighting run from the 70s'. It didn't blow me away by any sort of metric (it was okay), but at least you could tell that the writer liked the characters and the medium he was working with. That is not something I can see in some of the "writers" now.
Something I don't understand is why Alan has to be gay in the actual canon. For those who don't know, the reason they made Scott gay in the New 52 was because James Robinson wanted to compensate the erasure of his son Obsidian, who was a popular gay character. However, now that Obsidian is back with Rebirth, there's absolutely no reason to make Alan gay, specially his classic version 🤦♂️
The reason is the same reason it's always been.... hijack established characters to TRICK die hards to buy content they don't want. It's a slimy scheme and it continues to fail.
Everyone knows Alan Scott is canonically Heterosexual. Canonically he has 2 children. As one said they made him gay for the New 52. If you have to change a character sexuality as opposed to being good enough to create a gay character (see John Byrne & Northstar)than more than likely the Writer isn't good enough.
When will they get "You want to sell comic books? Write stories for the people who love the characters! These characters do not exist for you to push your own agenda...especially when your agenda is 180 degrees opposite of how they character has been portrayed for 80 years!" It's almost like these people need a basic course in marketing! And Wes you are right...calling your customer base names because they don't agree with or like your story or how you have handled their heroes is a sure fire way of getting us to NOT buy!
This is where my line is and I'm done. It's not just they changed his sexuality completely out of character just bc. They destroyed him, making a hero not only blackmailed by Hoover, but heavily implied that Hoover and his men are going to take advantage of him and he's just going to go along. Pathetic, disgusting and character destroying. That's the opposite of a hero and that's what they're reveling in now. They're able to do this bc some people STILL keep byuing their garbage. Stop buying everything or it will never end
Compare that to the storyline Captain America: The Captain in which Steve Rogers temporarily relinquished the Captain America identity because he didn't want to be just the government's stooge. That storyline also explored the dark side of patriotism, showing there were good and bad patriots.
I don’t think Tim understands how solicits work. The sales are already in. He waited way too long to try and do damage control and now he thinks a couple people buying variants will get their shop to order more?! LOL I’m seeing another cancelled Sheridan comic in the near future. Edit. I’d like to point out this is the Galaxy brained ultra chad that dry snitched and told everyone that they change established characters sexualities because no one buys their comics when they do it with original characters. Soooo. Gimmick.
The fact that they actually said "vote with our wallets" is hilarious to me. Your books wouldn't be constantly cancelled if they actually got those votes. Or rather, if there were *PEOPLE WILLING* to vote.
"Everyone deserves to see themselves in comics" Myself and others in that damned alphabet acronym that liked comics before _already did._ And people like this guy *ruined it.* My asexuality is not the start and end of who I am, and I'm positive that it's the same for other people who aren't hyper-focused on who they bang. I've seen myself in *countless* characters that didn't share my race, gender, or (lack of) sexuality. It's every time they try to force it and tell me that the resulting bland/toxic lump of a character is "for" me that it ticks me off and turns me away. These people need help. Seriously. You shouldn't be unable to relate to people that aren't 100% like yourself.
Last time I checked, the customers were the ones that buy the product. If you don't produce what the customers want, you do not sell your lacking product. Very simple business sense. You can't sell habanero peppers to someone that wants to buy ice cream. Changing existing characters into something the customers do not want to read about never works... it never has. Come up with something original and see if people buy it. At least then they would not be destroying the original characters.
If he had any ounce of talent he would create a new character and see where the chips fell. But no he (and other writers like him) has to steal and forcibly change a known character to fit his narrative.
@matthewledbetter7818 He actually did make new characters, in his unreadable Teen titans run. And no one liked any of his characters and they have barely been used since.
im STILL baffled at how someone could look at Transformers and think "ya know what this needs ? to END the war, and tell gay romances stories ! " que Pikachu face on chris ryall as two thirds of the readership just ups and walks away. who THEN does a tim sheridan on em :D
Probably the thought process the new wirthers on the power rangers comics had. The fans: We want more post end of show stories with the cool teams we know, like SPD or Jungle fury. The new "creators": here the power rangers OCs with *insert diversity quota* . Fans: *Walks away* The new creators:🤬 bigots!
Imo the first IDW Transformers run was (over all), to a certain point, pretty good. 🙂 [Even with the ONE gay couple (Chromedome and Rewind).😉] It went down when they made (allmost) EVERYBODY queer as folk (and half of the cast sissys).🙄😏🫣
It’s just so bizarre to do that with a Transformer comic, did they actually make the robots gay? Or was it the human characters? It’s bizarre that robots even have a sex, they’re machines. Having them in relationships is just beyond nonsensical.
Ironically I was going to order this book tonight, which is when I pre order the stuff I don’t already have in my advance order, ahead of it hitting the store next week. I love the JSA but don’t think I’ll bother now. Thanks Tim, you’ve saved me $3.99 and lost yourself another sale. I’m sure I’m not alone in finding these insulting idiots insufferable and off putting.
DC Fans: "Great job, Jim Lee! Leading your creators to appeal to the fans." 😒 Lee (waking up from his office nap): "Huh? Did somebody say something? Don't bother me while I'm working!" (goes back to sleep)
This is why I don't consider anything post-Crisis on lnfinite Earths to be canonical. These characters used to be operatic in terms of their grandeur, they've now been reduced to what's in their pants and how they like to screw.
Alan Scott and Jay Garrick have been my favorite characters for decades, but they've destroyed Alan and now the JSA's history. I really hate DC.. and I never thought I'd say that. I've been reading them since the 70's, but I guess they don't want my money anymore.
Their excuse is they want characters gay people can identify with. No problem with that. I’m going to read about characters I can identify with too. So why do they expect me to buy a character that I can no longer identify with. Then they move on to the next character. Marvel and DC looks like a gay orgy since I stopped reading them
What I hate about Alan Scott being gay now is that they could have at least made him bi instead, so that his relationship with the woman he married would still feel like genuine love. DC, as always, has to make "inclusive characters" in the worst possible way
That's why I preferred Deathstroke Rebirth making Jericho/Joey bisexual as Wolfman/Perez showed him obviously liking the ladies and being particularly close to Raven after they decided not to make him gay because he'd already be a stereotype with his personality and interests. Wolfman reviving that scrapped idea in Convergence raised questions about how his lady man status that later in the run and didn't do much to explore it in an odd event like Convergence, as well as the women he rejected entering a relationship with was a naive younger woman named Kole. Bisexual already seemed like best option with the character to avoid some gay cliches but get LGBT representation, even a common idea among his fans before Rebirth. Bisexuality does often seemed ignored unless they want to lessen backlash in a character coming out otherwise "not gay enough." Plus they already had a bi lantern in Jo but she's MIA since last GL book ended.
I like how during his pitch there was no mention of what the story was about. Is he facing a classic villain? Is he teaming with the JSA? No clue, just buy the book to annoy a passionate group of comic fans...
What is really shocking ,is that this storyline is a rip off of what Mark Millar did with Jupiter's Circle issues #1 and #2. The main character in this story was a green lantern stand in, and his run in with J. Edgar Hoover.
You can call me a phobe, I'll call you a talentless hack that can't create their own characters, and have to change established ones to have any relevance. End of the day, it isn't me that suffers from not spending my money on shit comics.
A good friend who is a fellow comic book collector who happens to be gay tells me he absolutely hate how these activists weaponizes gay rights against people. This approach causes more resentment than acceptance.
He thinks that hes selling to 12 year olds because his cognitive process is at a 12 year old level. I mean seriously. A 10 year old with a lemonade stand has more business acumen.
"You're a *ist *ist *ist *ist *ist! Correct. And you made me this way. "You're a *phobe *phobe *phobe *phobe *phobe *phobe!" Do not conflate disgust with fear.
You could take ANY character in the genre of superheroes, an adventure genre for kids, that’s supposed to be about heroes that fight crime, and say “Here’s a story where the superhero is blackmailed into sex by the head of the FBI” and I would say “that’s a stupid idea and you shouldn’t do it.” Doesn’t matter whether it’s gay or straight, this just gross.
This gets to the core of why _Identity Crisis_ is hated. Rape and sexual exploitation need to be handled carefully, especially at media intended for all ages, and _retconning it in?_ That's... why do comics even have editors if they let this s--t go to print?
Remember the Authority’ s gay couple, Apollo and Midnighter? They were totally badasses. Never heard anyone complaining about their sexual orientation. I loved when they got reunited and Midnighter took care of the guy who tortured his lover. They were great characters that happened to be gay, being gay wasn’ t the center of their personality. How many readers cared a lot of any superhero’s private life? At the end the majority of us read comics to see people kicking asses .
Exactly! Those characters are awesome, but I have no idea where to find them at the moment. Easier to swap popular characters instead of building up existing ones.
No one complained because Apolo and Midnighter weren't ONE DIMENSIONAL characters with nothing to offer besides "have I told you my sexual orientation in the last 10 seconds?".
Early Batwoman was great too, until DC decided to ruin it. The show certainly didn't help either. But that first run with the JH Williams III was terrific.
.... Bruh, this isn't 2005 where this kind of argument could hold ground lol. The guy is delusional. When a large percentage of the comic books put out have had this in there for the last 7 years, how is this an issue? Somehow Sandman did just fine, though. Odd that.
It's sickening! To see this great traditional storytelling medium, nowadays in the hands of pathetic woke narcissist, being painfully taken apart and the foundation rotting away. Coz the golden age Heroes are the epitome of traditional family moral values.......that's something these hypocrites devalues, so they have to twist it and brake morale! Brilliantly executed West!!👍
Given all the "Crisis" reboots, why don't they just draw a hard line and say none of this new stuff is canon to the old stuff. At least doing that would at least be less disrespectful.
Why doesn’t DC just bring back Alan’s son, Todd and have him be a green lantern. He was already an accepted Gay character with a fanbase. Problem solved right there. And for Tim to say that Readers are against gay characters is hogwash! How does he explain the popularity of Midnighter and Apollo or Wiccan and Hulkling then?
@@Dhampir101980Ehh... I read some books with them in it, particularly a Young Avengers book featuring Kid Loki and Miss America. They emphasize the phoque out of their queer relationship (Wiccan and Hulking, I mean). They are constantly breathing down each other's necks and on the verge of breaking down emotionally. The books featuring them refuse to let you forget they're "✨Super Gay✨".
Back in 40's to the mid 60's DC sold lots of love story style comic books, which sold very well, nowadays you don't see them, is it because nobody's interested? Well if people aren't interested in heterosexual love tales, how many people out their are interested in gay love story comic books? Why don't they write and publish these books with new characters and situations and see what the sales of such books do! Then they can leave 60 to 80 year old characters alone and tell inventive , interesting super-hero stories, and people like Bill Finger, Martin Nodell, Stan Lee, Jack Kirby and many others can rest in peace!
I can't find out what "queer" even means. Back in my day, "queer" meant "LGBT", but today it's some other thing. Sounds like they're inventing labels to keep hating their fans.
Queer...strange, different, out of place. I guess queerphobe is the irrational fear of something strange, different or out of place. This book definitely falls into that category.
My question is “why has DC Comics been trying to turn Alan Scott into a gay man since what seems like the 90s?” Instead of turning Jon Kent and Tim Drake gay why not bring back Wildstorm’s Apollo & Midnighter? They were popular. They happen to be a couple. They’re pretty much Superman & Batman if they were a couple. There’s already a lot of characters out there who happen to be gay. Maybe using them instead of ham-fisted badly written changing long establish characters would be accepted a bit more.
There ISN’T a huge fanbase for LGBTQ CHARACTERS!! Every time they cram that mess into a book..IT FLOPS!! Comics are male POWER FANTASIES at their heart, and the MAJORITY of men are not looking at getting smashed by another man as “Powerful”. It sounds like he wrecked not only Green Lantern, but the entire JSA. So this book is for a minority of a niche, not anyone that actually is a JSA fan.🤷🏾♂️
A big fanbase of LGBTQ stuff is women and they're all writing their free slash fics of the characters they like so they're not buying these. Most of the ships they have are canonically straight guys becoming gay.
@@guardiansoulblade2673And the other half just spends $5 on BL Japanese/Korean webcomics. 🤷🏽♀️ The fujoshis really aren't using American comics to get their yaoi fix unless they're looking at fanart on Tumblr, Twitter, or Deviantart.
When name calling and blackmail are your only arguments....you have no talent and should be serving tables.... Tim Sheridan should quit thinking queer characters are what people want right down to telling people they need to love his title when your the bully is you not the people who refuse to buy your book....
I'm gay and have zero interest in reading a comic about two gay guys having a shirtless romp on a bed. These are not the comics I read in the 80s and 90s that had action and real plots. Yes, there was romance, Lois & Clark, Scott & Jean, Wanda & Vision, but that wasn't the focus. Fire these writers, fire the editors too!!!
To help a LGBT comic books or comic books in general, you have to sell more than one book. You have to sell more than one miniseries. You have to make good books and build a fandom. If the customers don’t come back you have done nothing for comics.
Didn’t Alan Scott used to be married to a woman? I don’t follow him that closely but speaking as a liberal person I’m tired of this stuff in comics. If you want a gay character then create one and see how it goes. Bobby Drake used to date women so did Tim Drake you can’t just change who a character is after many years and expect people to believe it. About 10% of the population is LQBT but in the Xmen it’s like 90% just not believable. This has to stop or superhero comics will be a thing of the idk why marvel and dc can’t see that.
I'm not going to pretend I'm a fan of Alan Scott or know his history, but it sounds so ludicrous for a man who had two wives and two children to be queer in anyway. How does that even work? If someone wants to say "You'd be surprised what people would do to hide their sexuality back then", then I call BS. Two wives and two kids who AREN'T twins, ehh? If that's the predicament, then maybe the person isn't as homosexual as they think themselves to be. 💀
Also notice how this passionless clown DOESN'T try to sell anyone on the quality of the book. Bro, you work in a comic industry... Is the damn book good or not? That's all people want to know. This is a HOBBY, after all.
DC just has to put that fly in the ointment. I really like much of the Dawn of DC stuff but the JSA is my favorite and this is pushing me right to the edge.
Did anyone else notice that even though Tim isnt making a single penny on this, as hes donating all the "profits". He could have just as easily made a wholely original character, signed off all his own creator rights to DC (as is their way) for next to nothing and raked in all the golden "exposure" for his own unique and original character. But no! No no no. It HAD to be a golden age character AND they had to leave the original creators name all the way off the book and his video. No one talking about this topic has once mentioned the orignial creator. This is exactly what DC wants. For the authors that make all new content, to be forgotten. So that everyone only associates these characters with DC and not the authors.
DC has no idea how to write gay characters, even the slash shippers on Archive of Our Own have a better understanding of characters, and they're making straight characters gay! And that's for free!
Trouble is, it's not even as though Tim Sheridan bears the blame for switching Alan Scott's sexuality: DC pulled that stunt more than a decade ago, during the New 52 malarkey.
Didn't this guy have a really bad Teen Titans book (I know that describes 99% of comic books now) a few years back, and then get mad that no one liked the shitty new characters he created.
These guys are tough to take. Can you imagine if Sir Ian McKellen insisted on making Gandolf gay because he is a gay man? Of course that would never happen because Ian McKellen understands that he is playing a character. McKellen isn't playing himself as Gandolf. He's playing Gandolf who has been around for almost 80 years and is something beyond mortal with no sexuality. McKellen who has been very active in LGBT rights since the 80s puts none of that into his performance because that would be him and this is Gandolf. Millions of people are fans of Lord of the Rings and what they want is to see this incredible character go from the page to the screen and that's exactly what they got. That's why Ian McKellen loved and respected and considered a brilliant professional while writers like Tim Sheridan who also are also shepherds of 80 year old characters are nothing but hacks
> who has been around for almost 80 years and is something beyond mortal with no sexuality THAT. That right there. That's the key. Sexuality doesn't have to be a part of the plot. And all props and power to whatever Sir McKellen wants personally and how he lives his life, but Gandalf didn't have to go the same way. And someone as talented, experienced and powerful as Sir McKellen sure didn't need to do that.
Someone said he reminded them of DSP and I can’t unsee it now. Especially the big beggar energy. I’m not reading any more of Sheridan’s comics after getting burned with Red X in his cancelled Titans Academy. I did like the Chupacabra character but that was the only thing. I wanted to like the Gowther rip off but he wrote such insufferable dialogue that I started to skip their balloons after issue five.
We are life long fans of DC comics and Marvel Comics. We have seen these characters in their stories and the struggles. We have seen Alan Scott overcome his struggles with his son’s being gay. We have seen Iceman go fight ninjas for his girlfriend and iceman almost fought Alex Summers. Tim Drake is the ladies man and we have seen what he becomes after him and Stephanie break. There are room for lgbt plus characters by using them the right way. Apollo and Midnighter; Harper Rowe and her brother. But tactics like this do not work and the sells show.
Well said! Comics have always had diversity in gender, race, and sexuality. Activist hacks have invaded the medium and are ignoring those characters. They pretty much gaslight non-comic readers into thinking they didn't exist before they started writing comics. They chose instead to destroy iconic characters hoping for mass attention to their causes and it's backfiring. In lieu of using Apollo or Midnighter, we get gay Superman and Robin. They leave Black Lightning on the shelf and try to push Black Batman or Superman. While it's hard watching something I've loved and enjoyed for almost 50 years crash and burn, at the same time I enjoy watching these hacks take one L after another for butchering my childhood favorites. It's nothing less than they deserve.
I have gay friends who love X-men and Justice League. They grew up reading those stories and falling in love with the characters, not because of their orientation, but because what the characters represented, and by that I mean courage, determination, a sense of adventure or just plain fun. Everyone could read a story and get lost in the adventure because you were reading the exploits of a character. I have a trans friend who adores Dazzler. I have a gay friend who is a die hard Superman fan. I don't know anyone, gay or straight, who is a fan of Alan Scott aside from me and my love foe the Geoff Johns run of the JSA. So Sheridan's stunt is appealing to 00. 0000001% of the population. Good luck with sales
No they hope that the characters would come up. That's why they kept collecting them. They probably pester the editors to make the characters come out.
I expect Comic Drake will gaslight people into believing that Alan Scott that he was always part of the LGBT community just like he did with Tim Drake and Iceman.
By the way this storyline isn’t even original because this was stolen from Jupiter‘s Legacy where one of the superheroes was found out to be gay so at the same time not only is the story just plagiarism but it’s also pure garbage I didn’t like it in Jupiter‘s Legacy very much and I don’t like it now it has nothing to the story and it was such a weird fucking issue but the only difference is is that Alan Scott is being blackmailed to join the group meanwhile the other character was created to betray the group by spilling the secrets of how their powers work
You hit the nail on the head with this one I have friends, coworkers and family that are gay. Zero problems and none of my business But as soon as I saw the who was writing the book and the title of it, my knee jerk reaction was "This probably won't be a Superhero Book, its another LGBTQ Focus Story" I think the problem many fans have including myself is that Tim Sheridan is doing is taking 80+ years of Alan Scott's History and flushing it down the toilet so he can tell a story he wants. I loved having a group of superheroes coming together to form the Justice Society of America to make the world a better place. Its such a great Golden Age Story. Instead, Sheridan feeds us this bullcrap that J Edgar Hoover forcing Scott into this team as American Propaganda. And of course according to writers like Sheridan, instead of reading my feedback, the knee jerk response is, "If you don't like this, then you're a homophobe!"
Sheridan sounds like someone who lives online and has gotten very comfortable saying things on social media that he knows damned well he would never, ever say to someone's face. He acts tough behind a computer screen but he has no balls on the streets. Real life is not social media platforms. That's his problem. He needs a reality check. Preferably in the form of a knuckle sandwich.
Let's ignore the two children and two marriages for just a minute. How the hell does a piece of crap politician regardless of status *blackmail someone with the power of a Green Lantern* I have to ask.
My husband just walked in and asked who am I watching. I explained. My husband says yep cause we have the right to not purchase comics or anything we don't want which is why entertainment industry is not healthy.
Beautiful video, Sir! I am so OK with queers, queers content in comics and entertainment overall, but, I just dont gonna consume it; I am not queer, I have empathy for the community, but this content is not on my "taste", is not for me. The "Blackmailing story" sounds interesting, but DC make the "Bed sequences" the center of the advertising, and I am so sorry, I dont like that on my comics, Is not on my interest, and I simple dont care about that; It is like pushing people to like "pineapple pizza" when they dont like it, and call them "Pizzaphobes" just because is not in their interest that "flavor". Hope dont get too messy in the analogies, but, hey, is just my opinion. Keep the good work, Sir.
This is the only thing they ever say, because it’s the only excuse they have, I think they really know the truth but just use this “phobe” or “ist” excuse to cover for the fact they have no talent.
I'm gonna keep beating this drum. Manga's already figured out how to make this work. If you ever go into a store that sells just Manga, there are entire sections that are for love stories of all types. Some are normal, some are extreme. Some are even very niche and crazy, but they are all represented. What they don't do is try to force it into every other genre. And let you pick what you actually like. I like action and Sci-Fi so I don't have to read a love story period or if I like Battle Manga. Then I don't have to read bloated cyphi stories. You decide what you like and spend your money and are very happy. This is a long post, but if you would like a fantastic story, monster is great as a crime thriller. If you want to read a quick and enjoyable superhero story, pick up my hero, academia. If you would like a Sci-Fi comic with great art that influenced a lot of media after it blame!
Can’t for once we can have no controversy within the comic book industry is that to hard ask no shit, ah whatever at this point I am going to ignore this Alan Scott book mostly because well tim Sheridan writing especially in teen titans academy wasn’t good in my opinion.
There are a few red flags in what he said. I suspect he actually already knows not enough people will buy so he’s asking supporters buy more than one. Fair enough people do that all the time. I bought the second Isom book it was outside my budget but I’m a supporter. But it’s not a good economy for “buy more than one” I didn’t even do that for Isom, I’m going to lend the one copy I have out to my brother especially since I can pass word share my Netflix anymore.
I do not want to read about the sexual fetishes of Tim Sheridan in a DC comic.
Remember that time when Leah Williams wrote her urine fetishes all over her X-Terminators book?
Why you bigot!*

When activism meets e-begging, you find a man who's actively begging.
We all do.
You already knew Spider-Man was straight because he was trying to date various woman, like Gwen Stacy and Mary Jane Watson.

Preach it! 👏👏👏👏
I agree with you Tony. I've been reading comics since the late 80's and I'm frustrated like you. My solution is to not buy any comic that Tim Sheridan works on. It's we the readers who are buying the comics because without us people like him won't have a job.
Well said!!! I’m wondering what these publishers will do once they’ve alienated all the lifers and the “fad fans” move on to the next big thing.

I'm certainly not afraid of a bunch of bumhumpers
I agree.
It's hilarious lol not like homos are monsters to be feared what's even more hilarious is the term fatphobic but they use it to degrade them and keepin em as voting tools

I don’t like the disrespect to Alan’s creators, Bill Finger and Martin Nodell, as this is nothing to do with their creation.
Bingo. These characters are pretty flexible but a terrible idea like this can absolutely break them. This isn’t Alan Scott.
Poor Bill Finger.
These days, being called "queerphobes" and/or "trolls" for not wanting established characters forcibly turned into that or having new characters brought in whose existence is solely to be queer is more like a badge of honor; especially with how much worse off everything is.
Even "racist," which is their nuclear weapon of choice, just makes me laugh.
Racist, homophobe, misogynist means absolutely nothing to me anymore! If those terms mean I hate these sh*tty comics then so be it!
If they think I'll ever spend another dime on this garbage they are going to be extremely disappointed! 😂
Back issues!

Everyone: "Who the fuck are you?!"
I remember watching the animated movie when I was in elementary school. Now I realize how spoiled I was
I recently read the first Black Lighting run from the 70s'. It didn't blow me away by any sort of metric (it was okay), but at least you could tell that the writer liked the characters and the medium he was working with. That is not something I can see in some of the "writers" now.

@@EyrrllTons of 80s DC smashes 2020s DC, eg Byrne Superman and Perez WW respect the character, they took the reboot seriously.
It also makes his kids more convoluted than needed.
The reason is the same reason it's always been.... hijack established characters to TRICK die hards to buy content they don't want. It's a slimy scheme and it continues to fail.
The New 52 reason actually made sense on some level
Oh, there's a reason. So "people can see themselves" 🤦🤦♂🤦♀
These characters do not exist for you to push your own agenda...especially when your agenda is 180 degrees opposite of how they character has been portrayed for 80 years!"
It's almost like these people need a basic course in marketing! And Wes you are right...calling your customer base names because they don't agree with or like your story or how you have handled their heroes is a sure fire way of getting us to NOT buy!
I'm keeping my money, then.

Also when the hell did Jay Garrick get a daughter?
I’m curious… if them bringing the minority to the comics like this, or Disney doing th same, or marvel doing the same… what’s the solution?
The lazy way for writers who don’t want to read a few comic books in order to get to know the character.
Their excuse is they want characters gay people can identify with. No problem with that. I’m going to read about characters I can identify with too. So why do they expect me to buy a character that I can no longer identify with. Then they move on to the next character. Marvel and DC looks like a gay orgy since I stopped reading them
Luckily DC can do another reboot and wipe all these bad stories out of existence....
What I hate about Alan Scott being gay now is that they could have at least made him bi instead, so that his relationship with the woman he married would still feel like genuine love. DC, as always, has to make "inclusive characters" in the worst possible way
Or better yet, they should have never made him gay in the first place.
What you describe would be inclusive of his existing relationship. DC's change excludes this relationship in the name of inclusivity.
Or they could just leave him the way he was for decades.
Are there any characters they label as 'bi' that they then show with the opposite sex?
I like how during his pitch there was no mention of what the story was about. Is he facing a classic villain? Is he teaming with the JSA? No clue, just buy the book to annoy a passionate group of comic fans...
Man, they are just bound and determined to go down with the ship huh?
Sanctimony has become the entertainment industry's primary product.
What is really shocking ,is that this storyline is a rip off of what Mark Millar did with Jupiter's Circle issues #1 and #2. The main character in this story was a green lantern stand in, and his run in with J. Edgar Hoover.

This is what you get when the writer's storytelling sensibilities are informed by Watchmen and The Boys.
So, when do we get the numbers to see how much it failed?
This writer Sheridan is a perfect encapsulation of everything wrong with modern mainstream American comics.
Yeah, Teen Titans Academy, nobody read it.
Yep, that would be him. A whining failure.
That's why Ian McKellen loved and respected and considered a brilliant professional while writers like Tim Sheridan who also are also shepherds of 80 year old characters are nothing but hacks
> who has been around for almost 80 years and is something beyond mortal with no sexuality
THAT.
I wanted to like the Gowther rip off but he wrote such insufferable dialogue that I started to skip their balloons after issue five.
i could careless what a DC Comics writer thinks! I don't buy their crap anyways! Buy back issues! The freaks can't touch those!
That's why Iceman was my favorite character. He was a ladies man. This is not the real Tim Drake and I will never ever except it.
Harper Rowe and Cullen are trash.
Not really. Maybe as villians.
@@vfrebel6166 Comic book characters have always been straight.
Bad writing is bad writing. No wonder so many of us older fans abandoned DC and Marvel.
For the record, I have no interest in Alan Scott, so I'm not reading, I wouldn't read it even if I did like him, I'm not reading gay characters.
Green Lantern lost his ring in Hawkmans ass
I expect Comic Drake will gaslight people into believing that Alan Scott that he was always part of the LGBT community just like he did with Tim Drake and Iceman.
By the way this storyline isn’t even original because this was stolen from Jupiter‘s Legacy where one of the superheroes was found out to be gay so at the same time not only is the story just plagiarism but it’s also pure garbage I didn’t like it in Jupiter‘s Legacy very much and I don’t like it now it has nothing to the story and it was such a weird fucking issue but the only difference is is that Alan Scott is being blackmailed to join the group meanwhile the other character was created to betray the group by spilling the secrets of how their powers work
You hit the nail on the head with this one
I have friends, coworkers and family that are gay. Zero problems and none of my business
But as soon as I saw the who was writing the book and the title of it, my knee jerk reaction was "This probably won't be a Superhero Book, its another LGBTQ Focus Story"
I think the problem many fans have including myself is that Tim Sheridan is doing is taking 80+ years of Alan Scott's History and flushing it down the toilet so he can tell a story he wants.
I'm just not an asshole, that's why I don't like it.
i’m so tired of these tyrannical perverts, i really am.
Let's ignore the two children and two marriages for just a minute.
How the hell does a piece of crap politician regardless of status *blackmail someone with the power of a Green Lantern* I have to ask.
"No one is buying what I am selling, so support me on principle out of guilt!"
My husband just walked in and asked who am I watching. I explained. My husband says yep cause we have the right to not purchase comics or anything we don't want which is why entertainment industry is not healthy.
Lol
Call me anything you want. I will not support this narrative.
Besides Teen Titans Academy he wrote something worth?
@@EvandroACruz well he did write the Batman long Halloween animated movie which i thought was good in my opinion.
@@TevyaSmolka But in comics?
@@EvandroACruz i don't really know to tell you the truth.
