Put the video directory in the brackets and remove the brackets

If you have spaces in the file path or file name it will not load your video.

( after login task )YES AFTER 6 HOURS I GOT IT WORKING! so the issue was that when you type the file it if the video have spaces it won't load and the 2 problem is that the place of the video it need to be in Videos
ex: C:\Users\*your pc user*\Videos\*name of the video*

In task scheduler, if i run the task it works just fine. But it will not show the video on startup, and if i choose after log in, it's very delayed.

does this only work for pc not laptop. Reason is because i have 2 monitors and the video won't show up on them even if i have both set as my main display. i want the video to play on both monitors but it won't any help/fix?
try duplicating your display in windows settings
Fixed code for Windows 11 (04-07-2024). Follow steps but put this in .bat file:

How do I set that on my screen 2 on startup ? I have small monitor inside my pc case and I want to loop video on startup
I opens then closes straight after. I removed the vlc://quit and it says something about not being able to open a file in system32. I did not put a file path to anything in system 32, can someone please help?

Go into your VLC settings and you can make stuff play full screen by default when it opens

i tried making it start AFTER logging in, but in reality it starts running in the background and if i dont log in fast enough it just stops

Don't know why but it's not working for me. If i put the when the computer starts nothing happen and if i change for when i log on it start after the desktop is loaded. any idea ?
switch it to on workstation unlock and it should work whenever you log in. if you power off, and power back on and log in in it wont work.

@@Thebananahand_ not on local machine lets say on all 100 or more users on one domain. and there can be other domains. with other 100 people,
I know you can change the wallpaper for all users through gpo but haven't tried a startup video yet. Hope we get an update on that.

you cant do that. the batch file needs to execute when you log in to the desktop so it can open vlc, and with load times, you may see the desktop
When i test it in thw schedler it works but when i start the pc it dont runs.
it should work whenever you log on without the pc already being turned off from my past experience, switch it to on workstation unlock and it should work whenever you log in

I Do Have Some Solutions For You That Could Solve The Problem
1. Make Sure the slashes are \ , not / , and don't have two next to each other EX: C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe
2. in task scheduler, click on the scheduled thing you named, then right click, properties, trigger, edit and change to 'on workstation unlock' This will make the file run every time you log in.
3. see if vlc needs to be updated
4. If none of these worked, you can try a different video player like, windows media player (C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Media Player\wmplayer.exe) or any other video player of your choice and just change the vlc://quit to (exe file name)://quit

Hey man, Ijust spend a good hour trying to figure out the same. On 1 PC it worked fine and it wouldn't work on another. The problem was that the filepath was too long on PC 2. Try placing the video in the root folder C: and see if that works.

why did you edit your video?
When I manually make it run in task scheduler ( 3:03 ) it opens and closes immediately
Update: it opens vlc now that I removed vlc://quit, but doesn't open my video
I had this problem to. I think the window gets minimized when the command is executed. When it is playing, just open vlc at the bottom and it will show up. run it again and it should show.

your slashes should be \, not /. but keep the quit slash the same
