That was the first time Bobby's mom got to see her son perform live, and all he did was pull off what it considered the greatest solo performance of all time in front of a live audience!
Greatest? You have Roy Orbison, Elvis and many other individual legendary performances not just this score but other songs. Bobby did put in a great effort with this one.
@@rem1762 There are a LOT of legendary performances, including country, by the way; but this one is widely considered the greatest one of all.
No, not many artists. 1 out of 1,000 artists could have done something like this live and not miss a note. In fact he probably added to it as he went along. I've been around a long time. I saw a comment from another 70-plus year old that watched all this unfold in the sixties. And there's just nothing like it. I shouldn't say nothing, there is Roy Orbison for example. But I can't think of anyone else. Don't get me wrong there a plenty of singers just as good with song just as good or better. It's just this one unique performance live that people are talking about.
And he was nursing a cold that night
Throughout the performance I was watching the facial expressions of the two girls flanking the host. Other than when they introduced themselves at the beginning they barely cracked a smile as Bobby put on the performance of a lifetime.
As a 71 year old who was 15 when this song debuted it’s so nice to see a new generation appreciate “our” generation’s music. 😃👍
Lots of us do, you should check out "Postmodern Jukebox" where modern songs are done in older genres from swing to crooning love songs like this.
It's only frustrating when some older people get offended at the existence of newer genres.
I’m 71 and feel the same way. This music provides me with so many memories…right back there!
Wow! I was 14! Love it!
Amen

Younger people are finally unlocking real music and sounds.60's-70-80's.
Here we go again. Watching beautiful women react to The Righteous Brothers never gets old.
Not to be an ignoramus, because I've seen many reactions in compilation videos with TRB, but still begs the question: Do black women get goosebumps in their reaction to these obviously wondrous performances? Feel free to put an end to my naivete, but you needn't trash me in the process.
@@digitalsoldier-1742 It seems to be universal. Women of every culture show appreciation.
👍🤣🤩
It never gets old ❤❤😂😂😂
@@digitalsoldier-1742 Well, I’m a 70 year old white woman and I still get goosebumps.
All his own voice...no autotune at this time. All pure talent!!!
my wife and i got married in 1965 this was our first dance song at our wedding reception.i was in the military at that time and the war in Vietnam was on . everytime i would leave to go back to sea with my ship my wife would play this song every day till i got home. thiis was a very well known song to the wives and girlfriends we left behind. my wife and i have been married f now for 58 years. thanks for playing this.
That makes me cry
Old love old songs old values & I'm only 63!!😇😇😂😂
If anyone appreciates good music their alright by me from 6 to 80!!
Thank you for your service & your loving feeling! 😉
@@h.calvert3165 people have no idea about those songs pure class
This song is part of my soul.
On our first date my husband we went to a jazz club and when the band started to play 'Satin Doll' by Duke Ellington, he took me into his arms and I knew he was the man I'd share my life with.
Many, many years later we danced to this beautiful song -- He'd been ill for several years and had problems with his mobility - Still we swayed to this song and nothing mattered except the man I loved had his arms around me.
Neither of us knew it would be our last dance.
A couple months later my beloved passed away --- As I was driving back from the hospital this song came on the radio. I cried --- but then thought perhaps this was a way of letting me know my beloved was safe with God.
Love songs were common in those times. Much more common than today. Our society seems to have lost its way.
I'm 89 years old and was around when this came out of course and loved it ever since and all their music The Righteous Brothers especially Bobby Hatfield singing this and summertime. I liked your reaction especially the lady in the middle thank you so much for the video period which I have seen over and over and it's always new to me every each time comma you would think the chills would go away after the first or second time but ever always the same. Bobby died2007 at only in his sixties rip.🥲❤
That’s back when you had to have real talent. No dubbing or mixing, etc. just pure talent.
No autotune!
Just pure dedication and hard work.*
So true
Kinda rips at your soul. Resonates with anyone who has a long lost love. IDK if you feel me.
While I never want to doubt the talents of the brothers or any other singer. But I think attention needs to be called to just how good of an Audiio Engineer you had to be back in the day. Sound was mixed and balanced on the fly at the moment by sound tech and engineers, a lot of those jobs have been replaced by technology.
Bobby Hatfield is one of the Greatest singers of all time, and OWNS this song.
RIP Bobby 🙏, and Thank You.
You are correct on every point!
@@garyjohnson3081 I really agree.....
Love the Righteous Brothers, but IMO Roy Hamiltons OWNS this song.
If Bobby is reincarnated as a passerine songbird.........he'll OWN that meadow!!
Bobby Hatfield possibly the greatest singer of all time
Bobby Hatfield had one of the greatest vocal ranges of any singer. This is the type of song that you don't want to end.
He makes it look so easy ...he sings & it hits you all over! No auto tune back then! Just pure talent!
Possibly the most brilliant live performance of a song ever. The crescendo at the end is a real knockout.
Probably the best live performanceEVER in recorded history,no auto correct, no voice synchronised electronics.....just pure talent....
This was sung live and without autotune. Bobby Hatfield was a naturally talented singer who could move you with his voice.
the other one didn't think it was going to be a hit
My wife and I chose this song for our first dance at our wedding. I recently learned to play it on guitar and played it for her on our 31st anniversary. It never gets old.
57 years later this song is still an awesome classic!
They were both awesome. Don't forget Bill Medley sang You've Lost that Loving Feeling.
@@IJA1977 I can kind of hear it. His voice is a little horse and you can hear him break on some notes. kind of hear his nose being plugged up. Still really great though.
when was the last time the youth got to hear romantic music like this ? . . 30 yrs ago ? 40 ?
I’m 69 and I’ve spent the evening watching reactions of young people to this song. Lovely young ladies. Makes me wonder if the Righteous Brothers are still alive. This song still sends chills up my spine, even after all these years.
I have been doing the same, I remember this performance, how could you ever forget it.
No Bobby was found dead in his hotel room a few years again. Bill tried to replace him and continue the group but it could never be the same.
They’re alive in our memories, forever ❤️
It was the number one hit in America twice - 25 years apart. Probably to it being used in the movie “Ghost” with Demi Moore - what the film, so fantastic
Not only was his mom sitting in the audience, but he also had a cold and was very nervous about his performance. I love all types of music, but for me, Bobby Hatfield was the greatest male singer God put on this earth. He sang like an angel!
No auto tune mic. Just raw talent!
His high tenor voice was amazing. Blue eyed soul.
Bobby Hatfield had a voice that can never be equaled. I am so glad I grew up when he and Bill Medley, another beautiful voice, were together. And so glad to see today's generation discovering and enjoying them.
Bobby was a one and only. No one else could sing Summertime or Somewhere like Bobby ( and so many more - any genre.
No one will ever even come close to a remake of this beautiful song what a voice.
I love how this was live..no atotune ..just raw talent
And how good are the musicians that are accompanying him. Take one. That’s a wrap.
The greatest performance of all time .
I'm Dutch and I think I've listened to this song a thousand times and it never bores me never never never never. This is wonderfully sung, sparkling clean, very sweet and goes through the marrow and bone. Pure class.
Bobby Hatfield had one of the greatest singing voices of the 20th century. Beautiful vocals and an all time classic song.
I loved the smile of his at the end, he knew he nailed it.
Yeah... It's just shock and awe when people (especially women) hear this the first time. Bobby Hatfield was almost supernaturally talented. This was done live, in 1965, without auto tune, in one take. It's far and away the best rendition of this song, ever.
Nothing supernatural about it. Training dedication and a shitload of talent!
@@charleslangrishl9124 emphasis on talent. It's so important that people really explore themselves and find their talents growing up, rather than chasing so many things they're only mediocre at. So much bad advice from parents and role models like, "Follow your dreams". No... don't follow your dreams. Follow your talents and abilities, and they'll lead you to dreams.
Today's generations don't really explore anything at all, unless you count social media feeds and TikTok trends. They're growing up without ever realizing what they're good at. Most just want to be influencers, and parrot what they see millions of people already doing. That market is full.
He was phenomenal… and The Righteous Brothers were untouchable. This was performed live on the iconic Andy Williams Show and, I believe Bobby’s mother was in the audience ❤️
No auto tune, no post effects, all talent.
I was 11 when this song came out and it moved me then and still moves me today. Beautiful voice even live and it brings me to tears now, memories
I’m 52 this song still gets me every time I hear it😍🥰
I was 7 when Bobby did that performance. It's still today the most phenomenal voice ever.
Best song ever just Amazing
Ladies, that right there is pure talent with a large dose of greatness.
Chills every time! This song is the ultimate for every woman!
I'm a Toxically Macho man and it still makes me cry the perfection of Bobby's voice is the voice of God be channeled.
I guess for us old folks we are amazed that so many young folks have never heard these songs. These songs were played on the radio every day. Glad that the young people are being exposed to this great music.
Blue -eyed Soul is sung from the heart no matter what your skin colour is
He has the type of singing voice I always wish I had. The kind where you could just sit next to your girl and sing to her all by yourself and make her smile.
It was the greatest solo performance of all time without any sound recording or any assistance
My favorite love song of all time ❤ Cried when Bobby Hatfield passed. Rest in peace Bobby Hatfield. I love you ❤️!
I cry every time I hear this too.👍
Probably the best love song every written or performed by anyone, ever! Totally Timeless!
He was one of the greats.
Super humble and real.
Dude.. that sweet soul in the middle. I think I’m in love
I still get chill bumps when I hear this even after all these years.
The one an only, the great late Bobby Hatfield!
When most diners had a jukeboxes, I always played the Righteous Brothers. Then the removed the songs and it was never the same. 😭❤
Just sitting there with no a motion on there face. Except for the middle girl.
strange eh? I cry everytime
@@vallee3140 me too.
This song gets me everytime!
The best part is when he finishes giving this amazing performance, he doesn't take a huge breath or anything just ends and smiles like, " Ha, I can do it all day long, piece of cake."
Beautiful Song, 3 Beautiful Ladies, Especially the one in the middle!
Listen to the original "Unchained Melody" by Al Hibbler. He was a blind black singer in the 1950's. The first concert I ever went to in 1955. My Dad took me. I was but 6 years old and still to this day will never forget. I remember him being led out to the microphone. A blessing I will never forget.
I'm not sure it's possible for a human not to like this song.
The 50’s and the 60’s was real music to listen to and easy to dance too also.
Music Is a Very Universal Language That All People Can Appreciate & Enjoy!
His mother was in the front row and it was the first time she'd seen him perform live. He said alter that he was very nervous.... :-)
@Mike - it seems that he was TOTALLY SCARED out of his wits before every performance. As exciting as huis performances were that just makes it all the more unbelievable!
Coin flip determined who was going to sing it. Heard it from Bill Medley’s interview.
I also heard, that was sick when he did this performance, along with the nerves he had, with his mum in the audience
@@jennysmith38 yes, you can tell he had a cold. Too funny it still sounds great.
Hands down the best live performance of all time.
I was 16 when this debuted. I loved them then and still love them. So glad the younger generation appreciates this talent!
Divine music...
The late great Bobby Hatfield! He owns this song. I was 15 yrs old when I watched him sing this beautiful song on the Andy Williams show in 1965. I still get goosebumps when I hear him sing. RIP Bobby!!!❤🙏
Superbe performance !
Peace all 🇨🇵
You gotta love blue eyed soul. I was born in 1953 enjoying this music throughout my childhood. Bobby Hatfield's partner (Bill Medley) sang at my senior all night party back in 1971 at Magic Mountain in Valencia CA.
Goosebumps!
Yes wonderful Queens of my Heart
All 3 of you closed your eyes and were swaying just listening to Bobby sing, lol...(so did I).😍
🥰🥰🥰love this, grew up on this genre of music!! Vocals are HEAVENLY 😇😍
“The Righteous Brothers” are considered by most to be the Greatest Male Vocal Duo Of All Time. I agree. Between Bill Medley’s Lows and Bobby Hatfield’s Highs they can hit every note on an 73 key piano. No other male singers can do that. Legendary.
“You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’’ was the most played song on radio in the 20th Century
"Unchained Melody" - Bobby Hatfield Live 1965 Andy Williams Show (with his mother sitting right behind him) Considered by most as The Greatest Live Male Vocal Performance In History... I agree. Bobby’s use of “Runs” is masterful. He created the style and set the table that all others have fed off of for decades. 7 notes just to say the word “I” is melodic brilliance.
Their name came from doing a show near a marine base in So Calif and a black marine said to them…. You two guys are Righteous Brothers.
In 1983, in Newport Beach O.C. Calif. Bill and Bobby at the Jolly Roger Restaurant . I was 13 feet away for... "Unchained Melody"- "You've Lost That Lovin Feeling" - "Soul And Inspiration".... They were perfect, awesome, amazing, incredible......
Male Vocal Duo.
Pianos have 88 keys
@@joelquebec Except for the Spinal Tap piano. It has 89 keys.
@@joelquebec I built Fender Rhodes pianos for 8 years. Only full size have 88 keys. many have 73. Some only have 61 keys.... 5 octaves. Kiddy pianos have 16.
Pretty sure Freddie Mercury could. Different style of music, but Freddie Mercury had one of the most amazing voice and had more range than all other male vocalist.
Three gorgeous ladies😊
When my girlfriend was around 30 she went to Vegas and saw the Righteous Brothers with her mother. Bill Medley picked her out of the audience and took her up onstage and sang a love song to her. Yes, she is that beautiful!!!
did u marry her? or did she get away?
@@zeusvalentine3638 Sadly, she got away, but we still see each other and spend what time we can together when possible. Our lives just took us in different directions. There has never been a cross word between us.
Thank you ladies for your reaction.❤
He wasn't even trying but was still hitting every note perfectly.
Such gorgeous women‼️
Yeah, no doubt. Women are always, ALWAYS mesmerized.
hello girls, looking good.. this was a big hit. A very good singer.
What a voice this guy had!
He sings so beautifully and he was a gorgeous man! ❤️
Wow 😲😲😲😲😲👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

Beautiful to see God bless you sisters 🙏
You lovely ladies completed the experience. Thank you
Lovely ladies listening to some really beautiful music by the righteous Brothers 😢
Looking beautiful ladies 😃👍🏻
Like fine wine gets better with time
Every woman in the world can be moved by the this song.
Can't never get enough of them
Love them truly
Beautiful. All around.
Talent is timeless
Bobby Hatfield was one of the greatest singers ever and this song is one of the greatest songs ever! When he teams up with the other brother Bill Medley they belt out such great as You lost that Loving Feeling Soul and Inspiration Ebb Tide For once in my Life. They were both on Fire 🔥 doing Night Time is the Right Time and Little Latin Lupe Lu. Best success on yr channel!!
So sad we don't have music like this today! This song is AMAZING! I was in the eighth grade when this song came out. I still love it!!
True that.
Man, watching that beautiful girl smile with joy and then the tears spilling down her cheeks...wow. Amazing. The beauty of music and love transcends time, race, color, language...we are all one human family indeed.
Beautiful faces are even more beautiful when you smile. Please suggest your friends smile.
I love how much you tried to swallow all your love for your song/this song. *Hugs tight*
This is the only live performance that I actually seek out over the original recording
Because voice and song.
My soul sisters from Naija feeling unchained melody, keep it real😎👌
I was lucky to have lived in this time. The best.
Este es el tema más romántico de la historia de la música excelente interpretacion
I absolutely love this unique form of entertainment watching our phenomenal woman enjoy and expound on such an amazing classic from another culture! Genius!!!!
Andy Williams show live with mom in audience. One of the best live, one takes in history. The little lip bite at the end means " I nailed it".
