This is called blue-eyed soul. These guys were the best. Bobby Hatfield with his beautiful tenor voice & Bill Medley with his deeper voice. They were magic together. And remember this is done live. No auto-tuning crap like today. And the songs had meaningful beautiful lyrics.
If you ladies are into blue eye soul listen to bobby Caldwell and Gino vannelli
Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield were absolutely great singers. But also the song is very good written and the production and orchestration is genius. It´s called "wall of sound" and it was invented from Phil Spector. He was a great producer in the sixties, but also a crazy and terrible human beeing.
@@uwejohn6626 Yes, he had quite a history. He did The Court Transcription For The Murder Of Johnny Stompanato who was dating Movie Legend Lana Turner. Cheryl her 15 Year Old Daughter went on Trial but it was Lana who actually did it. He also was a One Hit Wonder as a Member Of The Teddy Bears with "To Know Him Is To Love Him", then he wrote "I Love How You Love Me" by The Paris Sisters but his work as a Record Producer stood the test of time. He helped epitomize the "Original" Girl Group Phenomenon from 1960-1964 before The British Invasion. Check Out Be My Baby (That Inspired Brian Wilson Of The Beach Boys to do an answer Song called "Don't Worry Baby), he also Produced Da Do Run Run & He's a Rebel For The Crystals and River Deep Mountain High for Ike & Tina Turner. The Show you are watching them on is Shindig a popular US Rock & Roll Show from the 1960's. In future years he would be a major influence on ABBA's Producer Michael Tretow, Brian Wilson and in The UK Xenomania who was also influenced by Motown. Xenomania gave Cher her Comeback Hit "Believe" and because of them, Cher now holds the distinction of having hits in every decade since she started in the 1960's.
Kind of a racist statement isn't it? Blue-eyed soul. Do either of these guys have blue eyes, or is it just a thinly veiled attempt to express that skin color has something to do with vocal chord quality?
@@kimmytuna5180 I think its more so to show its a derivative from traditional soul music, aka black soul music. Racisms everywhere if you try hard enough to see it there.
No auto tune. No computers. Just singing into a microphone with raw talent.
I'm 63 now and these still make my heart flutter
Ms.Debbie have you ever thought how many kids this song has been responsible for???LOL
I’m 52 and these songs were responsible for both my kids!😍🥰
Ditto!!! 💖
The best music in the world in early sixties long live rock n roll
The 70s were great, too. ☺️ 🎶 ☮️
Best music ever was all of the 60's.
The Righteous Brothers, Bobby Hatfield live 1965, “Unchained Melody”, it doesn’t get much better.
This is one of the top 10 songs of all time - a masterpiece
It's great, but top ten? My opinion this is even beat by the solo of Bobby ten times over........... just sayin lol
@@danhenson7366 absolutely too 10 - remember this was a duet, which is much harder than a solo. It was perfectly synced instrumentally, vocally and lyrically. Finally the baritone/tenor combo of Medley and Hatfield meshed incredibly.
Maybe even top 5
Really music has no color. All music is played by all kinds of folks. It's the best part of art. Painting, sculpture, literature literally everything is color blind.
Perfect and great comment.
Music has no colors (racism) !!!
No better duo ever or since. Legendary voices.
This particular song was the number one requested song to be played on the radio across the country.
It was a wonderful time to be a young teen.
Still tingle listening to all the beautiful music and words.
Righteous Brothers were and are the masters of Blue Eyed Soul.
Best music was made ages ago... this song still stands time.. its good that younger generation are reacting these songs..
The Righteous Brothers are known as the "Blue Eyed Soul"; they were soulful, their voices complimented each other; this is pure talent, music tdy couldn't touch this
I hope that you will listen to Bobby"s [the Tenor] LIVE performance on the Andy Williams show, 1965. Just Bobby with that tiny mic and Andy's great orchestra. The Song? "Unchained Melody." You won't believe it. Bobby made a whole world of women fall in love with him that night. And Bill? Brown eyed Woman" and so many others. These two were great, duo or solo
This was filmed live onstage with a studio audience in one take in 1965. I wasn't born yet. My Grandma called this blue eyed soul. You guys are young so I don't know if you are aware of this but Auto tune that's used today to even out voices and make them sound better when recorded, wasn't invented until 1997.
One of those background singers at the end is a very young Cher.
So pleased to watch you enjoy this ,grew up on music that had rhythm and rhyme and quality tone , pitch etc., don't get this anymore. Peace ladies and don't lose that loving feeling .
I'm 74 yrs and never get tired listening to their music! I was 15 yrs old when they came out with their beautiful music! We had to go out their record albums. I still have their vinyl record albums in my collection!❤️❤️❤️
When Bobby hadfield creeps on that song it says chills up my damn spine when I was younger I always thought these were black people singing and when I got a little older I was blown away to find out it was the righteous Brothers
Some of the best times and best music
It's nice to see Young people like to both of you listening to music from the past Where there is so much meaning into the song unlike music of today Enjoy more reaction videos from you
It’s amazing to me that these guys were all of 25 years ! The maturity of their voices, juxtaposed against their chronological ages is just startling.
Music from a special era when all you needed was a voice a microphone and talent no autocue required
Pure Talent...great reaction
You two ladies are gorgeous!!! I loved your reaction 😍
Loved it and great audio levels too !
Great reaction.
Peacesent, you are just absolutely gorgeous.
I watch a lot of reaction videos and it's really good to see one where the presenters don't talk all over or keep stop/starting a classic track. For that you get a like and subscribe. Well done, keep it up and be good.
We were 12yrs old in 1964 when this soulful song came out, coming of age in the 60s and though plenty beat up, that lovin feeling is still alive today. We just have to look a little harder.
It's so nice to see you enjoy the song.
they used to be a group but they spit out with just the two of them and they got the name righteosbrothers at a concert when a black army vet shouted out after a song that's righteos brothe
my generation has the best music. 60's
Try Bobby Hatfield's version of "Unchained Melody". He was amazing.
they already have
I’ll take the studio version over the concert version any day. Drawing that last note up and out like he did ruined a beautiful somg from the Friday mnight dance days, listening to it with your best friend days, singing in the back of the bus on the way to school days…it was like Witney Houston drawing the last note of I Will Always Love You up and out . I managed to hear it once without that and it was beautiful!!
Blue Eyes Soul 💙💙💙
Hello to you!
How you feeling? How you doing? 😂
The Righteous Brothers (not real brothers) were huge in the 1960s and 70s. 60 years after this song came out, it still effects listeners. It’s a great song and I’m glad you reacted to it. Another great song they have is ‘Unchained Melody’. I suggest you listen to the live version of that one too.
I felt the way you do now with Barry White what a singer
You two are going back to the 60's. Check out WHAT IS HIP by Tower of Power. 1968. Bet you can't sit still listening to this band.
Just saw them 2 weeks ago. 1st saw them 40 years ago and they still got it goin' on!
One of the ladies in the back is Cher.
Music isn't like this anymore. Makes me sad sometimes. I love music.
Pure talent.
Back in the day we were leaving their show and I said the applause was deafening and she said that the applause was loud but all the panties hitting the stage was louder lol maybe lol
Look after ourselves.
So many great singers back in the day. That was music those were singers.
I just found your channel and you ladies are gorgeous! I can’t wait to see your reaction to this song. These guys are amazing. Much ✌️❤️
You would have to have great eyes to spot one of the female back up singers is Cher!
I was shocked when i 1st saw them and that they were white. Growing up, I always thought that The Righteous Brothers, Bobby Caldwell, Boz Skaggs were black. It just goes to show you that white folks got some soul too
That was the sound they were going for
This was a typical Phil Spector "Wall Of Sound" production, using dense orchestra and backing vocals with a heavy dose of echo and reverb effects. Check out both The Crystals and The Ronettes for a similar sound.
Watching her reactions they definitely heard it before a few times b4 going live
The echo, as if they're singing inside a huge echo chamber, probably done using some electronics, was typical for a lot of songs at that time. Another one which used echo was "Ever Lasting Love" by Love Affair.
They were the best. Great artists and the music them was so beautiful and positive. I LOVE YOU GIRLS!
Blue eyed soul
Beautiful! Wish we had music today, great dancing music.
You girls are so BEAUTIFUL 😍
Beautiful reaction lovely ladies
I’m 64 and just love to see all the younger generation appreciate the oldys
You two ladies are so pretty. Loved this reaction!
You two are so lovely. I'm glad you loved this, amazing isn't it. xx
Awesome
Omg, I loved these guys in 1965, still do!!
Oh another one of my RIGHTOUS Brothers favorites. They were awesome when I was a kid and even better in my 60s. This is talent
Enjoy life .sometimes it's great, sometimes not so good but always find your spirit.
My Grandmother on their album cover titled.

The Pride of Orange 🍊 County, California!!
Oh, really?
Bill Medley is still performing btw
The sound is really good off your channel really good
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😊
These girls are young.
Black and white folk alike who deprived themselves of the other groups' music did a terrible disservice to THEMSELVES. There was so much trading back and forth between the musicians that often it was hard to recognize whether it was a black or white group with new releases being played on the radio. The Righteous Brothers' newest releases could've just as easily been mistaken for black singers as The Temptations could've been for the Righteous Brothers. And when it came to making the music draw in all races of fans, it's not a stretch to give Eric Clapton as much credit for the explosion of popularity the Blues saw in the '60s and '70s as "The Three Kings" naturally were given because the Blues was a genuinely black genre, and black fans, especially in the South and Northerners who were born in the South gave them without investigating the oft-times unbelievably difficult, interesting, and highly emotional stories of their young lives. Blue-eyed Soul nor black soul weren't born in a vacuum as they melded and developed into the shared genre they became during the aforementioned decades. Duane Allman (Founder and leader of The Allman Brothers Band) was one of the most sought-after session players on guitar at Fame Studios in Muscle Shoals, AL in the mid to late '60s. The "Swampers" were the (more or less) permanent rhythm section at Fame. Soul performers from Aretha Franklin to Percy Sledge and Wilson Pickett would hear a soul song somewhere, find out where it was recorded and book sessions there to record their next album or single, thinking the whole time that they were booking sessions with a black Producer, black rhythm section and probably black engineers and technicians too, but they would one by one walk into Fame and see nothing but white guys tuning up and jammin' while waiting for the featured performer(s) to get there. Once the arrangements and rehearsals were out of the way, the tracks started getting laid down, and like the many times before when the players and vocalists were multi-racial, the divisions just melted away. One of the session drummers that Duane Allman had become good friends with during his time at Fame, was Jai Jonny Johansen, who would later become known simply as "Jaimo," was one of two regular drummers who toured and recorded with Otis Redding before he died. In '67 or thereabouts, Duane decided it was time to put his own band together. He took Jaimo with him down to Daytona where Duane and his baby brother, Gregg Allman, had grown up. Duane and Jaimo started scouring the club scene all up and down FL and he consistently introduced Jaimo as "the first member" of his new band. Did I mention that Jaimo is black, or that Duane was this skinny white kid with long hair and mutton-chop sideburns? By '69 Duane had formed his band, named it, found a guy named Phil Walden to take a chance on funding their startup, debuted their first self-titled album. The Allmans are credited with inventing "Southern Rock," but none of them particularly liked the moniker. Anyway, The ABB were also known for breaking the color barrier for a rock band that came out of the deep South. Jaimo was with em from the first show to the last, 45 years later. He is one of only two surviving original members, Dickey Betts being the other one. Eric Clapton cut his musical eye teeth on the black man's Blues, and Duane cut his on Eric Clapton. Baby Brother Gregg was thought by many Blue's fans, myself included, to be one of the greatest Blues singers of all time, and that conclusion was usually drawn before anyone hearing him for the first time on the radio even gave a thought as to his skin color.
Listen young ladies, I'm glad to see you giving the soul music that I and my generation grew up with a fair listen, but please don't make the comparisons between black or white as you're listening to it. It's all about what the music DOES to YOUR souls, and with just this one reaction video, it was plainly obvious that you were moved by a couple of white guys that your parents, grandparents and maybe even great grandparents were deprived of for whatever reason(s). Music, no matter the source, is the best medicine God ever blessed mankind with.
Summed it up in a lot of words, but you are spot on.
The Powerful Sensations flowing from this song are hard to explain. These two singers in a live performance sound better then the doctored up songs coming from a Studio. To me the most sensational male singers with voices that stand alone . The low and high notes these guys hit cover the whole spectrum of voice sound.
Girls with the eyelids half closed and dreaming. In Germany we call it the "bedroom-gaze" ^^
Loved watching you two fall in love with them 😆
I loved it. Please do Elvis's version " You've lost that loving feeling" from the Las Vegas in 70 live.
Ladies, I love your channel. The Righteous Brothers were so incredibly popular in the 60s and were listened to by millions of those of us who loved music on the radio. This blue-eyed soul knows no real color. Soul is soul. And what is most interesting to me is that these guys sang rather sorrowful songs about new-found love and the possibility of lost love. What is more interesting is that these singers NEVER degraded or demeaned the women about whom they were singing. If you're interested in listening to other blue-eyed soul singers, I would suggest Boz Scaggs, Michael MacDonald and also Michael Bolton. Their voices are amazing!! Thanks!
Them eye lashes are Wilding out lol
saw them in vegas when bobby was still alive... marvelous...
Excellent... that was many moons ago.
I like the purple bears reaction!!!
Love it! :)
remember this and an eddie arnold cattle call 8 track in the old 66 chevelle.
When I did Karaoke I would round up a group of guys in the bar who wouldn't sing solo. They I told them to come as a group and lip sync a top gun song. It was lost that loving feeling. Before the song I had 2 mics a few guys had and they were all singing this song.
The power of music !!
The hardest thing with singing along with the songs of my youth, is making the mistake of trying to sign both parts, when I should be concentrating on just one.
wish I could sing , I sing both parts badly.
Chicks really dig this song.
Melting women for almost 60 years.
you girls are so cute, damn
This song was featured in the original "Top Gun" movie.
Fyi...they are in the rock and roll hall of fame..opened for both the Beatles and the Rolling stones.
This song was featured in top gun..but bill( the tall guy) sang we had the time of our lives for the movie dirty dancing.
Bobby sang unchained melodies for the movie ghost ( the clay pot love scene).
Bobby ( the blonde) has a 9 octive vocal range.
And yes this is them singing..no auto tune or sound board mixing using 1960's mics and crappy equipment
9 octave vocal range? lol.....a piano has only 7 octaves. His lowest recorded note was an A#2/G3 in the song "He" and his highest recorded note was an E5 in "Unchained Melody" or an Eb6 in "If I asked you". That's 2.5 octaves. Even assuming he could sing outside those notes......not quite sure we're talking 3+ octaves on either side high or low
When they were looking for a name because they are not. They played a gig in the American South and someone in the Audience shouted “That was Righteous Brothers” and they have called themselves that ever since!!
This was the most played song in radio history
At my age it brings back memories of fogged up car windows with my girl
Good ole bobby and bill..making pantie dropping, baby making music since 63.
Blue Eyed soul .. check out Hall and Oats too
I'm in the wrong generation I'm 33 I really wish I could have grown up with music like this
I would love to take the one with the lock to play!!! LOL
Listen to unchained melody by Bobby Hatfield,it’s there biggest hit!
The lady on the left just wants to look pretty
💞👩❤️💋👨💞

Of "ALL" the Fake "First time listening to..." video reviews - You 2 are really not too bad. No over acting! Thanks for keeping it somewhat sincere.
