3:20 Parking Fines, the only city policy I currently use is being removed? 4:23 "We've tweaked the household need for shopping, forcing them to pay rent and consider the garbage fee before going shopping" - There's no distinction between necessities and luxuries? I would think the order might be Rent > Food > Utilities (grabage) > Entertainment
Sounds good - but I'm ulikely to go full on back to the game until we get assets,more variation and the release of the DLC's that many of us already paid for. This is a serious issue - it has been many months now since launch, and those of us that went all in and bought the ultimate edition (or whatever it was called) have had nothing but a bridge and a map or two. And finally, we need bikes! LOL.
Yep I feel for people like you. Luckily I've been playing at no cost through Gamepass. The game was released a full year too soon. Since I wasn't scammed like you and other pre-order customers I'm not as mad and am trying to think of it like we've been given a Beta to play a year early since they are still actively fixing it. The next couple patches will determine whether I buy the ultimate edition for the extra content they have now added. I do think the future is bright for the game.
I'm glad its getting some good updates for challenge-oriented players. I'll stick to unlimited money when I get back to it since that's not what I'm focused on when playing.
Looking forward to the update. I'm interested to see how it'll affect cities we're actively building out...time will tell. I'm glad PDX/CO is working to improve the game! *edited for grammar*
Good to know about the update. However, it is still not enough for me to invest hundreds of hours yet. Honestly, I got more irritated to see that most basic things were missing in this game. Such as, bikes, animations of the citizens with buildings and all of those missing DLCs from original cities. I really cant wait anymore, already lost my patience on this one. This game is still too bland for me and I don't have motivation to be back even I wish I could. Sad. :(
They have to convince me to buy it first. I have not seen enough to make me buy it yet. Yes, each update is a step forward, but it should have been there in the first place and omg more options for decorations and trees etc. Things for individuality!! They had the template with CS1 and still it's not there. Just my opinion. Please keep us informed. Each time it's a bit more but still not quite there.

The import cities services toggle is kinda useless if your city services Arent available from the start to begin with. We need smaller service buildings, because a small town wont have a huge Hospital, and thus it will always be needed to keep that toggle on anyways.
Honestly I'm a bit miffed about this announcement. At least they seem to address most of the issues with residential zoning. I am wondering if the game will allow for support of specific households in certain areas, so that families get a leg up in areas where you want families to settle, or the elderly being closer to public transport ans healthcare. Speaking of services, the increased cost of these require a smaller scale version of most at the start of the game. Let's see if CO delivers. And I'm not sure why they hashed out the commercial and industry workings. I don't think I've heard anything new, though it's good to hear that commercial zones don't duplicate each other in the neighbourhood so easily. But why did they even bother mentioning that finished products are more expensive than the raw resources? They didn't have that before? Let's hope that the info on the upgrades adds something new. Also, will we get localised policies to support specific industries, so that the 1,0% adjacency bonus can be leveraged more?
Been watching all the videos on city skylines played some off it on my gaming laptop but can’t play much waiting for console release mainly hopefully they nail it cause fed up waiting now 😂
I personally won't be playing at least not right now, I don't know if my laptop will handle it and I'd want to play with mods. Maybe one day, especially since I paid a lot for it
Advise to start a new city?!? I have worked on my city since tha launch of the game clicking in hundreds of hours and maintaining population of about 500k. I can’t just start a new city. This city is THE city.
It can adapt, you need to let it run. But it will loose a lot of money and it may not survive that or may just not transition at all. See what's it like you load in
Thanks for the review/update. I still can't wrap my head around the choice they made to directly tie income level into density. It's quite an absurd notion that the only option for low income households is higher density, multi-storied buildings. Though they've tweaked some of the income issues to lessen the high rent problem, they seem to have doubled down in forcing low income families into multi-storied housing. I'm sure there are exceptions, but I think you would be hard pressed to find rural, low-income communities that are packed with high-rise apartments. Urban? Yes. Rural? No so much. The flip side is just as absurd. Some of the most expensive real-estate in the world are urban, high density, high-rise apartments. This is a pattern we keep seeing: the decisions they've made have created a game where the designers/detailers/painters think the game is made for the city builders/managers and the builders/managers think it's a city painting game. It's not satisfying either camp.
I was thinking this when I read the dev diary. What about trailer parks etc.? In a large country like the US where there is so much land and land value can be low in rural areas, there are plenty of poor people that live in rural areas and not in urban high rise. Also, loads of rich people living in parts of major cities, because they want to be close to work and cultural amenities.
Please address the issue of all types of vehicles/transportation to go the edge of the map and NOT at the edge of the buildable area!!! I am a map making and that vision is a Bad eye sore... I Hate that!!!
I think i'll spin the game back up to check out the new economy patch, my hope is that it resolves issues that i've had with high-density building level ups. I dont see myself really....caring.... about the economy it's not why I play the game. That being said, for those who want more of a game out of CS 2 it's a welcome change im sure.
Considering they heavily promoted the economy/supply chain/simulation when the game was launched you’d have thought they wouldn’t need to overhaul it but it’s no surprise in reality. However as you said this is all just “stuff that happens” so hopefully the new content comes quite soon after this
Awesome information and good news for those who like playing the game for the challenges of growing a huge city. The game is starting to be more things to more people but for me it's not really what I like playing the game for. To each there own way of playing as long as I can design and detail to my hearts content the way I want to have my cities looks like and then play like. Thanks Egg man for sharing the news.. 👍
I'm one of those players who do infinite money so it's not a big deal to me, but it is good to se why things are doing the things they do-I'm always going to be confused about why low rent buildings or high rise buildings won't grow-hopefuly that will make it better at least
There's a lot going on behind the scenes, but as a player, there is no way to understand what's happened because the information isn't being communicates effectively in-game.
@@OVERCHARGEDEGG I still like making functioning cities that earn money. Making it so challenging that you have to start over several times isn't fun either. Some of us don't have time for that. They need to make it like Anno or something where you can modify your overall difficulty or change granular economic settings to tailor different play styles. Not just Hard mode or cheat with unlimited money.
@@ParkerTyler it's not going to be that challenging. But it certainly needs to not be this easy considering this is the only option to actually find a challenge. Not that it's my main gameplay focus either, I'm much more interested in detailing. But you roll in billions with nothing to spend it on. This patch is a step to fix that particular issue imo
You have to be a special kind of stupid if you think the game should start hard and get progressively easier. That is precisely the opposite of how games work. The challenge should come from reaching the upper milestones, not from reaching the first. I think this will be the first game in history to penalise new players and will have a significantly detrimental effect on player growth. The economic approach should come from the number of things you're trying to juggle, and the more you try the harder it gets. Unless this is turned off by default, it will kill the game because new players to the series will fail, then get a refund from Steam.
Super lame. there still fixing shit that should have been seen and fixed while it was in development. economy 2.0? nah. 1.0 was broken at release. this is a bug fix. True state of this game. You purchased it at release. forget about it for 12 months. then see if the devs have been able to finish it. Last time I buy a game from these clowns. there shareholders are way way more important then customers. businesses like that don't deserve your money.
Disappointed to see OverCharged hearted such a negative comment. Comments like this is exactly what CO will ignore when you throw in 'super lame'. And this part wasn't about 'fixing', the economy 'fix' was because many though the game was too easy and a bit hard to understand some stuff
@@polishKGB no, Im actually old enough to know what to expect from a developer. A finished, completed game. shipped with minimal bugs. you know.. Like Myst for example. Know why developers now release shit half cooked? because peoples standards have dropped. if you cared about quality you should be complaining. when businesses get told directly that there behavior is shit and there goign to loose all of there customers, they usually change for the better. if they don't. they disappear. this entire industry for the most part is screwing over gamers. just for the sake of profit. If your ok with that, then your gullible. try not be so much. Like I said. Im old enough to know what a quality gaming experience looks like. I guess your new here...
A bit confused seeing some of the fixes since I'd expected them to be there from the start, like charging for outside services. Not sure what CO had in mind for the game cos seems like it's neither a city management simulator nor a city painter. Won't be trying out the game still but this is a step in the right direction. As it stands, CS2 still offers everything I'd want so I don't want to pay for something that is worse. Thanks for the overview of the changes!

I believe that parking fees are in the district policies, and Egg showed us city-wide policies, which is a different ui menu.
The second officially supported custom assets are available, I'll go balls deep back into the game. But before that.. not really

I don't think the money is the problem here. I think the problem with the game is EVERYTHING else.

The game just breaks and suddenly gives me billions in money mid game. It happens from from a random industry import/export asset.

Hopefully the patch comes sooner rather than later, since my modded savegame just got bricked. I would like to start a new game with the patch.
