  • This vlog covers what the middle of the work week is like for me as an anesthesiologist assistant. In this video I show how I provide anesthesia to delivering mothers and critical patients. I review spinal anesthesia and other unique medications for delivering mothers. I also review important medications to keep patients' vital signs within normal limits.
My schedule is 5-8s, which means I work 8 hour shifts five days a week. It leaves me with plenty of time to go to the gym a couple of times a week and spend time with my friends and family after work.
I'm planning a Q&A soon, so comment any questions you'd like answered or any video requests.
    A little about me:
I am a NYC native who always had an interest in medicine and pharmacology. I was heavily considering medical school and specializing in anesthesia until I learned more about advance practice providers in anesthesia. I graduated with my masters of medical science in anesthesia in 2021 and have worked two jobs since then as a board certified anesthesiologist assistant. I hope to raise more awareness about this awesome profession through this content. Outside of anesthesia, I am passionate about financial literacy and independence. I also love traveling and have a love/hate relationship with the gym.
This is not medical advice. New videos on the weekends! Comment down below for any video requests OR questions!

Hello! I have recently stumbled upon your channel and absolutely love you providing info for future AA’s. My question for you.
What are the steps once completing your undergrad, When did you take your MCAT? How did you find a school to apply to? How many schools did you apply to? And lastly, How did you decide between med school and AA school?

Can you do sort of like a lightning round video where you answer a lot of the questions you have gotten on comments?

hi! i was wondering if you believe that your GRE score played a major role in your acceptance at NOVA?

I had a couple of things that worked in my favor regarding my acceptance into AA schools. The admission process seems to be multi-factorial as I mentioned in my pre-reqs video. I would reach out to schools to see how they weigh that aspect of the application. If I were to apply again, I would aim for a well rounded application.

How stressful is your job typically? If so, how do you manage the stress and would you recommend this career to someone who struggles with anxiety?

I meant to do a video response to this a while ago, my thoughts are that everyone is different in what they need/like from a job. For me it's been worth it :)

Love the videos! I have a specific question if you don’t mind: I’m trying to decide what statistics class to take but I can’t figure out which one CAA schools want. Is advanced statistics a course that would satisfy the program requirement for the majority of the programs?

Like would applied statistics be a class that would satisfy the requirement everywhere?

Usually any stats class above the 100 level will suffice

thank you so much. I was wondering the differences between the propofol vs. etomidate since they are both induction agent and which scenarios do we use them. So since, propofol can potentially lower the HR. and if the patient already has a low HR, it would be beneficial to use etomidate instead of propofol? because etomidate would maintain the BP high?

How is the relationship between the CAA and the anestheologist? Master-slave?

    • @CAALifestyle
      @CAALifestyle  2 роки тому +2

I believe there may be a language barrier but that is not that relationship between CAAs and anesthesiologists. I cover the ACT model in this video but will try to add more specifications in my next videos about the working relationship between the two.
