Thank you my friend and I certainly feel better than I did, the eye is healing up nicely but still not fully healed yet, another 6 weeks and it should be fully healed. 👍🏻. Cheers for now. ………..Graham
Hi Philip and I’m pleased that you found the tip on using the tweezers handy, with my fat fingers then I find this is the ideal way for positioning those tiny screws, having a magnetic screwdriver always helps too. 👍🏻. Cheers. ………..Graham
Good morning Graham. I love the Heritage yard idea. and i can only say what others have said. its nice to see you again on the big screen. The Derby Lightweight looks a treat especially as you have brought back to life again. as it must very satisfying to get the DMU working the way it should be. Take care my friend....cheers Tony.
Hello Graham, Brilliant job fitting the PCB board and now the Derby light is working well around your stunning layout and I agree sound decoder would be a wonderful addition.
Hi Deano and many thanks for the kind comment mate and yes it really does need that sound decoder and a decent speaker, it would sound wonderful. I’m so pleased to see it running on the layout too - lovely. 👍🏻. Cheers. ………Graham
Good job Graham...brave of you to leave the crash in. lol. Liked the lap round Lakeside, stop in the station and back to the yard. Take care, all the best.
Thank you my friend, I thought I may as well leave the crash in, just to lighten things up! 😂. But all seems to be going ok in the yard and the Derby LTW too. 👍🏻. Cheers. …………Graham
Another brilliant surgery, Dr. Foulston. The patient is better than ever. also really loved seeing the Silver Fox smoking like a contented hobbit! Grand video!
Hehe, love your style Anthony - Dr Foulston, I like that! 😂😂. Yes, it came working perfectly in the end and it didn’t take that long to do considering it was pretty much stripped right down. I fitted a new replacement smoke generator to the Silver Fox the other week as the old version was becoming unreliable and was giving out less smoke than normal so a replacement was need - it smokes more than me now! 😂😂. Cheers. …………Graham
Impressive, Graham. Being a man who says he has no clue, you certainly know your way around a model train. Have a feeling it's more than share luck. How nice to be able to buy allmost anything on ebay and get it running! Cheers.
Hi Ronny and thanks for the comment, I don’t know very much about real trains or electronics but I do consider myself a good engineer so if anything phases me I just use logic to try and solve it. There are not many things I can’t repair as long as I have the parts - like the new PCB in this case. 👍🏻. Cheers. ………..Graham
Many thanks Dave for the kind comment - thank you. I’m really pleased with the end result of the Derby LWT and of course the shed area too although still a lot of work left to do on that yet but it’s getting there, that’s the main thing. 👍🏻. Cheers. ………..Graham
Good evening Graham a good video and a great repair my friend glad your derby light is now working well loving the Heritage yard the best part is the fact that you are using your eye with out any problem. Stay well my friend chat soon. Stephen
Hi Stephen and thank you my friend for the comment and also for thinking of me regarding my eye which healing up lovely now. 👍🏻. I love these Derby Lightweights especially with sound and a decent speaker fitted - it’s got to be done! Cheers. ………..Graham
Thanks so much for the comment Susannah and glad that you enjoyed the video. I really want to get sound fitted to this as I had one before which had sound and it sounded wonderful. 👍🏻. Cheers. ………..Graham
Good video here Graham love seeing that Silver Fox on your layout and the turntable seems to be working well, seeing the Silver Fox smoking as well just makes it look so much better, looking at the video though it looks like one of its front lamps has fallen off from the front unless you have made it so you can remove the lamps hand have different headcodes, looking at the Derby lightweight though seems to be a simple repair, excellent that bachmann still have the spares available for so:elf their older models, keep up the great work Graham.
Hi David and thank you for the comment, it’s greatly appreciated too. Yes, the front lamp fell a couple of weeks ago, i still have it so I just need to fix it back on. To be honest, I was really surprised to see that Bachmann had spares available for this Derby Lightweight and at very reasonable prices too, the PCB was only £15, considering that it had all the lights, connections etc pre-fitted then I thought it was a good price especially taking into consideration that it made the Derby😢 work as it should again - well worth the £15 in my opinion. 👍🏻. Cheers. …………Graham
Many thanks Graham and yes it’s great to start working on the layout again, the eye is now healing up nicely after the operation although I was told that it still won’t be fully healed for another six weeks or so but that’s ok. 👍🏻. Cheers. ………. Graham
The last time I saw that much smoke coming from a turntable, one of my favourite albums was on fire and I knew it was time to get a CD Player (showing my age there!).
Hehe, she was giving it some wasn’t she but it doesn’t look quite as much when moving on the track. A bit different from the old unit I had in it previously, in the end you could hardly see any smoke. Cheers. …………Graham
Hi mate and I’m pleased that you enjoyed the video. I’m hoping to start work on the Gentry once again in April so not long now, it depends on the weather to be honest. 👍🏻. Cheers. ……….. Graham
Hi mate and thanks for the comment, I wonder if there is a common fault with them but I must admit that I haven’t heard of it if there is. Anyway, this new PCB seems to have fixed the problem so I’m happy with it now as you are with yours! 👍🏻. Cheers. ………..Graham
Hi mate and thanks for the comment. The cyclists are still on the layout and working well, I think the last time they were seen was on the Christmas video I did a couple of months ago. If you didn’t see it then the link is here: ua-cam.com/video/PGXEYN5Hc_s/v-deo.htmlsi=o29O-8mUEnVXUf2d Cheers. ………….Graham
Ah, the Black Label A4, having read one of the comments, did you source a replacement smoke unit from Broadway Limited? Super job on the Derby LWT...worst job, getting the body on/off lol.
Hi Andy and you’re absolutely right, those body shells are bu*^ers to get off and put back on again, you have to get the tabs exactly right. I got the smoke unit from my local model shop, luckily they had the correct number of Seauth unit in stock which surprised me, as you know, there are a few different versions, primarily in the voltage. But the Derby LWT is looking and running great now which really pleased me! 👍🏻. Cheers. ………..Graham
Great video Graham, have you thought about an entrance to the yard at the track by the end of the Derby coming from the castle on the inside of the track where you stand?
Thanks for the comment my friend and I had thought about an entrance there, but that’s all it would be - just an entrance, everything else would be off the layout and left to the imagination. Cheers. …………Graham
Hi Harry and thanks for the comment and yes, I could always do with spare decoders, never say no to those - thank you my friend, appreciate that! Cheers. ………..Graham
Lovely to see you back Graham. Your looking well. All the best!
Thank you my friend and I certainly feel better than I did, the eye is healing up nicely but still not fully healed yet, another 6 weeks and it should be fully healed. 👍🏻. Cheers for now. ………..Graham
Thanks for the tip on using tweezers to hold small screws in hard to reach holes. It has revolutionised my rebuilding of plastic trains.
Hi Philip and I’m pleased that you found the tip on using the tweezers handy, with my fat fingers then I find this is the ideal way for positioning those tiny screws, having a magnetic screwdriver always helps too. 👍🏻. Cheers. ………..Graham

Brilliant video Graham
Thanks Mels, much appreciated mate! 👍🏻. Cheers. ……….. Graham
I had the same issue with my Derby Lightweight driving car, but the lighting wouldn't work at all. Did the same as you, good as new.
Hi mate and thanks for the comment, I wonder if there is a common fault with them but I must admit that I haven’t heard of it if there is. Anyway, this new PCB seems to have fixed the problem so I’m happy with it now as you are with yours! 👍🏻. Cheers. ………..Graham
Nicely done Graham. Just wondering, what happened to you and Hazel and the pushbikes you used to have on the layout ?
Hi mate and thanks for the comment. The cyclists are still on the layout and working well, I think the last time they were seen was on the Christmas video I did a couple of months ago.
