@@PandaSE_ 6 years ago Captain Shack (TheXPGamers on youtube) ran a streamed series (which I suspect was a large part of the inspiration for the wrong way streams) called Engineer Corps. In it was Shack, Texfire (See other wrong way series for him), Wasted (Playing W-4573-D) and Splitsie as murder hobo (for trying to murder Shack), sadly Shack lost interest in space engineers before it finished. In one of the Episodes they had a large rover that they were going to jump off a cliff and Mr Tutorial man had just done a tutorial on them so of course he set them up. The tutorial had been done in creative so Splitsie didn't know in large grid you need more than one parachute canvas per hatch so it obliviously didn't work and six years later Splitsie has never lived it down and of course never will!
Always a fan of the cooperative content put out by Splitsie and the Gang. The fun they have is contagious and is one of the reasons I started creating my own SE content. Keep it coming, gentlemen. 😺🤘
Now I'm finally getting close to the end of the stream - is there a way to see the "NPC" point of view? I'm curious if they roll play it or are just very coordinated and on mission.
"Wrong way out will continue until we completely destroy ourselves or we make it to space." Cue something klanging out so bad it kills everyone and yeets everything left into orbit.
What about having a large empty chamber inside of the LG vehicle with sensors on the walls. Inside of the chamber is a sg ship and when you fly it in any direction, the sensors on the walls trigger thrusters to move the big ship in the same direction. This gives you full directional control on a cockpit for the LG without a cockpit... with only moderate risk of a fun collision happening at the heart of your ship
That might work in space, but on planet with rovers it's likely to get messy - I was thinking it would be better to do something like that with sensors and just the player being detected :) Also, much as with our previous Wrong Way series, this is also 'no thrusters for large grid'
One way to steer a large grid could be tank like controls. So you would have 3 button panels, right ones control right wheels, left does left wheels and the center is for setting the same speed on both sides. To turn you run the tracks with different speeds or in opposite directions. And the buttons are just for different overrides.
Ah, the memory of the last series: Me just watching the stream, peacefully dozing off (started at 23:30 in my timezone), and suddenly Splitsie almost giving me a heart attack by yelling "CAPAC, NOOOOOO" as Capac drives the starter rover off a cliff at full throttle... Fun times... ^^
Decided to do the math. Expected capacity by block volume alone is 13 125L. The visually missing volume is the long side corners, at the 2x1 slope, so 4x7x0.25, 7 blocks which would equal 875L, putting the expected capacity at 12 250L, leaving still 2 250L unexplained.

Alright, time to get back to watching the video before having too many ideas and questions that might already have been answered in the video haha.
Glad you're excited for it, I've been wanting to do another one of these since the end of Wrong Way Up. As to the ending, I would prefer to end at the point we set out when we first begin the journey, because I find continuing after that point can often feel like when a TV series keeps going after the main cast have moved on to other things. But the prototech stuff is 100% going to be a part of AA when it returns, so that'll be following on quickly after the finale of WWO (whenever that is) :)
@Splitsie Oh I see, yeah that makes sense and it makes me excited to see it all even more. To me it's similar to the old stargate series that used to be on tv (No clue if it continued for long since here we had limited content around it for some reason, but I loved that series.) and it's part of how I fell in love with your channel from, in my opinion, being sort of like episodes or windows throughout a big story that we know will come to an end but still has so much to show in terms of details and even future series if that makes sense :P (Might only make sense for my messy brain haha.) In any case, I'm looking forward to watching more and I sometimes even wish we could fast forward time to keep watching. Wishing you and the others the absolute best of adventure! :)
@@Splitsie Oh, another idea I just thought of after thinking again about the part where you were mentioning proximity chat: I wonder if it would be worth or too much hassle to make a system like that work for situations like infiltration for example or intel gathering by both player npcs and players. (Similar to when you and Capac (I believe?) went to that mars base where you ended up exploding one of the hydrogen or oxygen tank during Escape from Mars if I'm not too mistaken?) I thought about that situation where the npc players were typing their dialogue and I feel like these would be the perfect sort of situations for having some proximity or VoIP based proximity audio chat if space engineers even allows such mods where external libraries might be imported? Even just the simplest VoIP system I believe could be enough if it doesn't affect performances too much hopefully or some more advanced system maybe with the sphinx library to have some sort of audio transcript, but that might be a little too much effort for this idea haha. I swear, those random ideas make me wish I could find resources to learn about writing mods with custom code on space engineers haha. I have nothing else to do right now anyways and wouldn't mind messing around with space engineer's code until I'd find a way to make something work :P Anyways, once again I'm still having an amazing time watching the series and wish I could jump into the future to watch more and more haha
I have another ludicrous proposal for the base movement. Build a "line follower" arrangement with sensors, and have it chase either a player walking or a small grid. Easier to do with tank steering, but should be feasible with conventional steering.
This game is missing deployable solar panels and maybe small-grid wind turbine that also needs to be deployed but can't drive when deployed or something. it also adds more things to do when u stop, also u have to stop to get charge, it also means u wouldn't be able to set a build que and drive about waiting to finish (might slow down progression tho, but i still think it could be a vital part at end game)
33:00 gave me an idea... a scouting rover with merge blocks so if needed, it can be (intentionally) broken into multiple parts and each part will be liftable by combined strength of 4 people. Like a lego, or jeep :D
Something that i think might be interesting for the next series is using the same rules abour wrong way out but you have to go to the center of the planet before you can leave and you can title it something like "Wrong Way In"
I wonder if the invisible trees are a placed tree colission mesh without textures... and how would one go about finding out what is the mesh name and remove it from generator or copy any tree texture in so at least it's visible.
@@Splitsie So it's probably not a fully saved planet but a generation seed and every machine generats the planet and then just applies the voxel changes from save/sync hmm those are the times I wish I knew more about other engines then the old 32bit havoc^^
Would it be against your restrictions to make a big floating (flying) large grid platform and push / pull that around with small grid flying vehicles? I'm not sure if this would be controllable, though...
3:25:40: What about instead of a wall of grinders, adding a bull bar (tree plow?) to the small grid tractor vehicle? That way, tree collisions hit the small grid first rather than having a chance at hitting the big grid and slamming it into the small. Could bring back the moustache 🤔
I just rewatched the first episode of the last series... It only took Capac 10 minutes to crash the truck... I hope it is something we can look forward to it... I do miss the other two engineers from the last series...😮
I love the Baby Crab Juice!! Not so sure about the banana truck though... Seems a little unstable... Maybe paint orange and call it the Orange Menace... After all it seems to be a meatshield insofar as getting hit by all the invisitrees...
The thought occurs, with your little forward bridge on the starter rover you could stand there with a grinder and take out at least some of the invisible trees.
3:18:50 "This is going all right" "Driving this thing isn't too bad" Are you getting married when you return home? Are you retiring after this job is done? Is the plan working flawlessly? Any other dead flags you'd like to say?🤔 3:19:15 there we go. 🤣 (Knowing splitsie he said those things 100% on purpose summoning clang to to bestow judgement)
I mean, never say never right? :D But seriously, since we're just at the start of this one, I'm not thinking beyond where I hope this will go at this point :P
Ik this is only the first episode of this series. But if you ever do a "Wrong way In". please make it on a max size planet, and the goal is to make a massive drill ship with the new drills, to drill to "something" at the center of the planet, maybe no small grids allowed at all? that would be so damn cool, having to manage to make something that can bore in any direction into the planet, focusing on making the craft more compact, and managing recources like that. Idk, just a cool idea I had while watching, I imagine this really isnt feasible, but still, idea nonetheless
The main reason I've avoided anything underground is that once built, there's very little to do or see. There are no hazards, no points of interest, it's just waiting to get to the destination. If I ever come up with a solution to that side of things then it would be an option
@Splitsie You can modify the planet and make it like Minecraft. Add large empty areas so drilling straight down could be disastrous. Still not a lot to see for viewers unless you used a spectator cam for a lot of it. Even remove the ability to refine stone from everything except survival kits and remove the survival kit from large grid. Then to take it a step farther remove all ore except boulders and find some way to cause damage as you go requiring ferry vehicles to go get what you need.
From a performance standpoint unfortunately space engineers in it's current state simply can't cope with the degree of voxel deformations required to do the Minecraft thing
With the issue of ghost trees, might I sugest mag locking the large grid stuff for now. Wasteds idea was cool and I would be all for it if not for the tree problem.
Have you thought about using the harpoon mod? 3 small grids (with thrusters) as tugs and the 4th person on the large grid to button/lever activate brakes and potentially steering... That would be fun to see. 😂
I think Splitsie could make a decent buck from publishing a Capac soundboard app. And that sort of thing isn't too hard, he can probably find someone like Nev or Blackshadow to code it for him.

To me it's similar to the old stargate series that used to be on tv (No clue if it continued for long since here we had limited content around it for some reason, but I loved that series.) and it's part of how I fell in love with your channel from, in my opinion, being sort of like episodes or windows throughout a big story that we know will come to an end but still has so much to show in terms of details and even future series if that makes sense :P
(Might only make sense for my messy brain haha.)
In any case, I'm looking forward to watching more and I sometimes even wish we could fast forward time to keep watching.
Wishing you and the others the absolute best of adventure! :)
@@Splitsie Oh, another idea I just thought of after thinking again about the part where you were mentioning proximity chat:
I wonder if it would be worth or too much hassle to make a system like that work for situations like infiltration for example or intel gathering by both player npcs and players.
(Similar to when you and Capac (I believe?) went to that mars base where you ended up exploding one of the hydrogen or oxygen tank during Escape from Mars if I'm not too mistaken?)
I thought about that situation where the npc players were typing their dialogue and I feel like these would be the perfect sort of situations for having some proximity or VoIP based proximity audio chat if space engineers even allows such mods where external libraries might be imported?
Even just the simplest VoIP system I believe could be enough if it doesn't affect performances too much hopefully or some more advanced system maybe with the sphinx library to have some sort of audio transcript, but that might be a little too much effort for this idea haha.
I swear, those random ideas make me wish I could find resources to learn about writing mods with custom code on space engineers haha. I have nothing else to do right now anyways and wouldn't mind messing around with space engineer's code until I'd find a way to make something work :P
Anyways, once again I'm still having an amazing time watching the series and wish I could jump into the future to watch more and more haha
YES ITA HAPPENING. Wrong way series are my favorite!
Haven't seen the whole thing yet, how long until Splitsie remembers that he changed the front wheels' offset to run the ore scanner?
Longer than I'd care to admit 😂
Watching this now! Glad to see they ol gang back!
Looking forward to where this series goes! The last one was great!
Something that i think might be interesting for the next series is using the same rules abour wrong way out but you have to go to the center of the planet before you can leave and you can title it something like "Wrong Way In"
had a flashback of Topgear winter special of driving to the north pole lol
lol This series has definitely taken some inspiration from the top gear specials :D
@Splitsie 😁 looking forward to more shenanigans to come, hopefully the series doesn't get cancelled lol
I wonder if the invisible trees are a placed tree colission mesh without textures... and how would one go about finding out what is the mesh name and remove it from generator or copy any tree texture in so at least it's visible.
I've experienced them on vanilla and modded worlds, I think it's some sort of weird desync because they're often visible to someone but not to others
@@Splitsie So it's probably not a fully saved planet but a generation seed and every machine generats the planet and then just applies the voxel changes from save/sync hmm those are the times I wish I knew more about other engines then the old 32bit havoc^^
I wish I had time to watch this live - or a team of friends and a Capac to play together. The shenanigans are real! 😆
wrong way out: the revenge of the trees
seems appropriate :D
The Sequal is wrong way in: @Splitsie escapes :D
13:54 - Magnesium would be delightful! (Forgetting that they literally just ran over a Mg deposit about 10 seconds before stopping at the cliff)
I tink the cliff was the problem..
Assault catapult best catapult.
All goblins agree.
Would it be against your restrictions to make a big floating (flying) large grid platform and push / pull that around with small grid flying vehicles? I'm not sure if this would be controllable, though...
Is there a modlist somewhere? Them trees look so better.
It's the planet Tellus, it might be using Medieval Engineers trees? Not sure tbh
can you attach small grid to a large grid using connectors/rotors? i’ve seen small grid control rooms in large grid vehicles
Yeah, though since that would entirely negate the engineering challenge we won't be doing that, we want to do things the hard way 🙂
2:11:43 in the words of capac i didnt cheat i just forgot the rules
Such a great joy :D Still cannot way for the 2d season of AA with more focus on the ship and factorum parts.. :)
Yeah, that side of things is going to be fun :)
@@Splitsie have a wonderful week!
Splitsie is haunted by all the trees he has slain
It's probably against the spirit of the stream if I suggest that there is iron there...harvesting the electrical towers
Nah, we were harvesting them to speed things up 🙂
The thought occurs, with your little forward bridge on the starter rover you could stand there with a grinder and take out at least some of the invisible trees.
Possibly, though I think we need to try to find one and see if they can be ground down, do some science on them if you will :D
@@Splitsie and @Eisen_Jaeger Invisibilitree Research.
Only 37 minutes in before parachutes and insufficient canvas is brought up lol
I was surprised it took that long :D
3:18:50 "This is going all right" "Driving this thing isn't too bad"
Are you getting married when you return home?
Are you retiring after this job is done?
Is the plan working flawlessly?
Any other dead flags you'd like to say?🤔
3:19:15 there we go. 🤣
(Knowing splitsie he said those things 100% on purpose summoning clang to to bestow judgement)
I do like to play with fire 😉
w4stedspace? Back in my Space Engineers? It's more likely than I thought 😁
is there a modlist linked anywhere?
its the battery that explodes even if you hack it it will still explode you need to grind that completely down.
Interesting and good to know, I so rarely leave them intact that I never really noticed
@@Splitsie yeah well 3154 hours i know a thing or too. but glad you guys are at it again with the chaos.
Will they be a "wrong way in" series?
I mean, never say never right? :D
But seriously, since we're just at the start of this one, I'm not thinking beyond where I hope this will go at this point :P
the do not take overturned vehicle should be upside 🙃down
Oh yeah lol :D
And here I was thinking that there weren’t enough explosions
They were pretty much guaranteed 😂
Wasteds idea was cool and I would be all for it if not for the tree problem.
to be honest, I'd love to see the big thing be a drone that you have to use to travel without any control from you.
Have you thought about using the harpoon mod? 3 small grids (with thrusters) as tugs and the 4th person on the large grid to button/lever activate brakes and potentially steering...
That would be fun to see. 😂
Sadly none of them work at the moment 😔
Brilliant guys, love it
I need a Capac ringtone for my phone.
I think Splitsie could make a decent buck from publishing a Capac soundboard app. And that sort of thing isn't too hard, he can probably find someone like Nev or Blackshadow to code it for him.
