Hi Graham, I own a ADM turntable and have used a product from Rails of Sheffield called Redutex which is a self adhesive brick sheet which is very thin and flexible. They have many finishes to choose from.
Hi Brian and thanks for that information but I have already covered that side wall in brick Metcalfe paper but it’s always hand to know of different alternatives so thank you for that - it’s greatly appreciated sir! 👍🏻👍🏻. Cheers. ………….Graham
What a joy you managed operation from your tablet controller. A turntable is really a space saver and helps to point a locomotive's nose in the desired direction! It's your next feature device on the layout. ❤❤
Indeed my friend, this is going to make such a difference and at long last I will be able to operated the turntable and everything else on the layout from my iPad. Cheers. ………..Graham
Hi Doug and thanks for the comment, I’m still not 100% if the turntable has an inbuilt decoder or not to be honest but if it has then the Z21 was certainly not picking it up. The important part really in all this is first programming the turntable via the ADM control box and then when that’s complete then the Z21 picks all the positions which are then in the memory of the turntable. It all works now so that’s the main thing! 👍🏻👍🏻. Cheers. ………..Graham
Hi Graham and Hazel. Great looking turntable Graham. Well done with sorting the tech out. Do I feel a new project coming on.😮 Thanks Graham. Stay safe. Pete.the
Hi Pete and thanks for the comment mate. Yes, I’m so pleased that I’ve managed to sort this out to operate via the Z21 controller, something I’ve always wanted to do since buying it a few years back, and now I’ve done it. I don’t know about a new project as it already exists so more of an update to the engine shed area rather than a new project but I get what you mean though. Cheers mate and you stay safe too. …………Graham
A good video here Graham, it’s always nice having a turntable on a layout, currently I have a hornby one which luckily hasn’t given me any trouble, overall looks to be a good job so far, keep up the great work.
Hi David and thank you, nothing wrong with the Hornby version which I did consider originally but when I saw this at an exhibition I was convince that this was the one for me. I’m glad I made that decision because it suits my needs - especially now! 👍🏻👍🏻. Cheers. ……….Graham
Hi Alan and thank you for the comment, I have literally just uploaded part 2 of the turntable describing the connection to the Z21 plus a small update to the general overhaul of the turntable too. Hopefully that will answer your query for you but if not then please just ask in the comments again. 👍🏻. Cheers. …………Graham
That’s very true my friend, I always say that if I don’t learn something everyday (even at my age) then there’s something wrong. 👍🏻. Cheers. ………….Graham
Hi Graham, great work on a situation that could baffle a lot of people, I saw a video on this turntable many years ago, very impressive bit of kit even if a Peco turntable was used, i always wondered why a hut wasn’t fitted to make it look different or like a German model, Alistair should sell the design to Accurascale so they can do it more justice, the best British model turntable we have is the Hornby offering which is about 45 years old, Hornby own Jouef who had a great turntable of which I have one, surely they could do something with that Jouef turntable model, the Heljan model isn’t great to be fair from what I have read about them, thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the comment mate and yes it does use a Peco well and bridge for the main visible part of the turntable but it’s underneath where the difference occurs, that’s where the magic happens! 👍🏻. I don’t know what’s happened to Alistair, I haven’t heard from him since he closed the company down, it could be just a personal thing why he never sold the technology on, I really don’t know. I was thinking of scratch building a small hut on the side of the bridge like so many of the turntables had but that’s for the future. Cheers. ………..Graham
@@GrahamFoulston The hut sound like a great little project hopefully with a light in it, it is a shame ADM have gone, I will probably go for a Fleischmann model because of the bridge length is very generous, maybe I will rework my Jouef model and see what happens.
No mate, not clever at all - far from it, if I were I would have known how to do it in the first place but thank you anyway, it’s really appreciated. 👍🏻. Cheers. ………..Graham
Thanks for the comment Robin, I don’t know what actually happened to ADM to be honest, it seemed very sudden so maybe a personal problem, I really don’t know but yes, it could have been taken on by someone I guess but again, there maybe something we don’t know about why Alistair didn’t want to sell it on. Hi Graham the question I am going to ask is not about the turntable . What I would like to ask you , is what dc locomotive would you recommend to pull the Piko track cleaning wagon . Regard’s David
