Great job on both the competition and the video! Frustrating that not everything seemed transparent with the weigh in. You did well to hold your tongue and still communicate what was happening.
Nice video. It’s not easy to organize big events like this one. Turks did very well, and they were great hosts. Turkish team had big advantage of playing at home, and they successfully used it. As part of Croatian team I can say that we are very happy and proud for both medals, we did something that no one really expected 😊
Awesome video - great that you guys kept your heads up despite anything that might be going on behind the scenes with the weighing, hard to do when you feel the tide is against you so big respect ✊
This has no relation to Croatia but I recently went on a trip to qld and shot my first Spanish mackerel all thanks to the inspiration Daniel Mann has given me and the many things i have learned from his videos hands down best youtuber when it comes to making videos about spearfishing
Great video and insight Dan, always love watching yours comp vids and seeing how different they're run! Seemed like there were a fair few congers weighed, you guys didn't manage to scout any?
Ross found one at around 24m. After the competition I found out the Croats on the first day found a string of rocks or ledges with 10+ congers in it. Definitely needed to spend some time with the side scanner finding those rocks. Also Croats dive for congers a lot in their competitions so are very well versed in finding them and extracting them.
Shame on the organizers for this tournament doing some shady shit to help Turkey come in first. I know you may not be able to so forwardly bash it, so let me do it for you. Croatia climbs to first, turkey disqualified and Daniel wins for this amazing video. Loved the whole thing mate. Well, except for the weighing portion. Booo cheaters boooo

I couldn’t believe it either. There was a French and Algerian diver no more than 30m away fishing on the same bit of reef. I thought to myself, leave no stone unturned in this comp and went just out of the way to look at that crack. I couldn’t believe it. No torch, 60cm gun and dropped straight down on top of it. How do you get into spear fishing, been wanting to for a while but I don't even know how, or where to start, what's best practice for finding locations to dive and what's the best way to be safe about it
Thanks Aiden, there are other country representatives that are nominated that monitor the weigh in but in this case it was all overly excited and rushed a bit.
Hey Dan! I wanted to ask how you filmed your videos. I'm looking to purchase a good diving camera and a way to mount it to my mask. I was wondering what you might recommend anything that works well for you. Thanks!
Ah Danielle you told me you’d be here. I totally forgot and you didn’t tell me you arrived. I was hoping you’d be my guest here. Maybe next year. Wrasse fish are plenty here. I don’t hunt them. Corvina is also plenty but harder to catch as you know. You can find them in shallow waters because it’s laying season at that time for them. Normally you wouldn’t be allowed to hunt for many fish species but because there is plenty corvina around there are no limits on corvina that I know of.
Just bought carbon fiber fins they are so AMAZING i also wanted to get a wet suit but i really dive in the months between April and September so mostly warm months so i just have a dive skin….but can you guys help me like what do you think should i get it? By the way its a 3mm thick and i was thinking just buying the top piece not really cold for the down area😂
Hey Daniel, I'm a huge fan from the Netherlands! I was wondering, does your mustache not give you any problems while diving? Over the last few years I started growing a small mustache and beard, and as a result I keep getting quite a lot of water in my nose... I saw some videos that said trying a different mask with a smaller lip part or shaving a thin part of the top of the mustache, but I was quite curious if you have any similar problems? Anyways keep up the great effort and content! ✌️
I often shave half of my top lip. Seems to work for me. Other times of my beard growth sometimes the mask does seal, just not for the first week after shaving. I think the hair has to lay flat or something.
I can’t film every team all the time. I also didn’t have room to include Libya, Algeria, Denmark, Norway, Greece etc. No reason specifically, just time.
@@DanielMann Gotcha! Cause I feel some pain in that area after some long hours in the water, but that might be due to me using plastic fins. Do you recommend carbon fins for shore dives? Thanks!

Turkey cheating? Break out the Crayolas and color me shocked. Seriously, that doesn't surprise me. They love doing shady stuff. That's why it has become a mecca for yachtbuilding in Antalya. You can have a yacht being welded up by a guy that works for 3 or 4 different shipyards in the area. He gets paid a union wage at each shipyard but if he works for on e of the more prestigious yards like Turquoise or Damen, maybe Mengi Yay, then the cost passed on to the buyer is set at 110 an hour. Now if he works at another yard like Bering, Alia, Dunya or Numarine, he is doing the same job and his wage passed on is now 80 an hour. He however takes home 65 an hour no matter what yard because its a union negotiated salary. Carpenters and coaters usually work in house but they will hire outside for a big push, again the cost varies by shipyard but that worker is paid the same amount. Still cheaper than an Italian yacht or definitely a Dutch or German yacht. Now they are opening yards in Georgia and Croatia. Cheaper labor still. Turkish yachts used to have a bad reputation for quality. Their firearms certainly do. Like their luxury watch clones. Look nice, function horrible. The yachts were the same. Then when money came in. It got better, but the corruption also got better. Not surprised they cheated, it just seems that like Chicago here in the USA, you should expect it.
