Yep, I remember. Unfortunately, Schon’s current wife and her ex-husband were notorious con artists. Her story is an interesting one. I was bummed and disappointed when she ended up with Neil. And Cain’s wife is even nuttier. It’s a real soap opera.

They’ve seem to forgotten the fact that they have one of coolest jobs in the world. It’s a slap in the face to any struggling musician/band/artist. Be grateful for the opportunity you’ve been given!
I’m with Cain on this one. Unfortunately Neal is really into “The Image thing”. He’s been married numerous times. Has to pay child support. Has had multiple plastic surgeries. He enjoys an extravagant lifestyle. Cain is much down to earth from what I’ve seen. So he’s probably concerned with Schon blowing through all of their money. I don’t blame him.
Journey is just a nostalgia band. The real Journey ended when there was no more Steve Perry. Neal Schon thinks too highly of himself and all the newer crap he plays. I agree with Steve Perry's take on Journey, to handle Journey as a business based on the empire they created, while remaining a defunct band that's not playing anymore. I know as a fan of the real Journey, they became a parody of the former band they once were, when they continued w/o Perry. Age is a real thing and all bands have an expiration date, whether some of the members and clueless fans think so or not. Rock is a young man's thing. Look at how ridiculous Metallica looks and sounds now. It's just a cash grab for them now.
"Clueless Fans"? You underestimate SP's enormous fan base! They still turnout to hear SP songs! Think Neal would still do those songs if fans didn't want them, or would buy tickets if they DIDN'T do them? or if Neal had made new 'hits'? There's many older bands still gigging!
I’m reading these comments. Many ignorant ones. This is not a Journey problem. This is a Neal Schon problem. Don’t believe me? Go back and read all the interviews from their old manager who invented Journey. He has bad things to say about Neal Schon the human being. He’s a dirt ball.
One of Neals issue with Cain is partly political believe it or not. Cain is a hardcore conservative and Neal is pretty far left. The same thing happened to grace slick and Mickey Thomas from Jefferson starship.
Somewhere, Ross, & the two Steve's are smiling. Isn't Neil's wife the one who was once kicked out of the WH? If so, nuff said. I see the source of the issue.
Yes, she was in the first season of real housewives of DC and they (her and the ex-husband) somehow got into a WH reception uninvited. Guys can I make a suggestion. Take a page from Queen's book. There are five equal shares of everything. No one is the managing member.
Journey were so good together. With Steve great foundation for the most notable selling albums/records. Touring on the good music with Arnel singing still making money is awesome. But, everyone over 70 now (except Arnel) maybe it’s time to stop.
So glad i saw them back in 1983 and 1984. I wouldn't pay to see them now, not the same. I would only pay to see them if Steve Perry did a guest appearance, but that won't happen. At least i have my 1980s memories.
The common denominator seems to be Schon. Maybe I am wrong but we have ALL wondered why Steve could have walked away. When you are young anyone can have issues but in their 70"s?????
Since the two children in the band can’t be thankful and say “I am sorry,” they will feud their way into tearing up the band’s reputation and Journey’s legacy as a song writing machine having written some of the best tunes - ever.
Their " legendary accomplishments" did not happen with the present band. It happened between '77 - '86. Then again in '96. I can't name even 1 song the current band has had a hit with.
I actually feel bad for Deen... He screwed up pretty bad a few years ago but I’m convinced he got clean and straightened his life out . And this is his reward. Schon and Cain constantly at odds…. Jeez
Perry, Cain, Valory and Smith should get back together and find a guitarist that fits the style. Perry, Cain and Schon all have rights to perform as Journey.
Neil and Cain seem to make up, Tour and then waste their coin on lawyers to sue each other. They are like a couple of bickering old ladies at the casino.
All the problems keep going back to the root cause of many band problems, the guitarist. Goes back to their first keyboard player, then to singer Perry. Their current singer is willing to leave at anytime.
A thought occurred to me earlier, the alleged coup by Steve Smith and Ross Valory. Was there really a coup, or did Neal just want to get rid of anyone who he considered 'equal authority'? Was Ross not a founding member, just like Neal? So now, he's got exactly what he wants, what he sees as HIS band because he's the only founding member left. He can hire and fire at will because there's no one to challenge him, spend as he wants because he's the 'president' of Journey, with no one to answer to. Maybe Cain isn't the real bad guy here. Perhaps hiring a forensic accountant would be the best way to go. Let someone with no vested interest come in and examine the books for the last decade and see what happens.
They were first. Had they not done their thing Steve Perry would not have had a Journey to join. And they were a excellent band. A different band for sure but loaded with talent..
Seriously? Would you say that to Chicago? Jason Scheff has been with them 23 years, and Cetera was just as hard to replace as Perry. Did they stop doing Cetera songs? Of course not. Arnel has been there 16 years, still bringing in fans, still making them money. Personally, that's who I'm paying to see.
I am glad I saw them in Pittsburgh for the farewell tour, just before his injury. They rocked ! Sorry to see them not sing again. Health is more important than……but still sad.
Neal seems to love living an extravegant lifestyle and has not problem showing off his wealth on his Instagram page. I recently read an article where he claimed to own in the neighborhood of 1,200 guitars, and these aren't your normal, run-of-the-mill basic guitars, but most are rare and/or custom guitars. On the low side, let's say that each guitar is worth $3,500....that's $4.2 million in guitars alone! Not to mention his taste in expensive cars (Ferrari's) and custom Harley-Davidson motorcycles.
And now we know why Steve Perry left. Neal Schon is my main influence on guitar and Steve my main influence vocally and this breaks my heart and reminded me why I don't follow the personal lives of musicians, actors, and all celebrities for that matter. Appreciate the art, but never forget that we are all very human. We all know that nothing really changes after high school.
Sounds like Pink Floyd 2.0 There is nothing more saddening honestly than to see people who were so close and inspirational to others become estranged and bitter towards one another. It’s typically over envy, greed, or ego which makes it that much worse.
Running it like a business, except half the band has left! The people who mattered, know we get day players. These two men have ruined the band over what GREED!!!!!!

Yeah way. Journey was an incredible band. Definitely one of the hottest bands of my high school days in the early 80’s. To me, Journey was over when Perry left. Anyway, my point is this greed and band members suing other band members because they wrote more or something they had more creative input for the band turns into lawsuits and division and band breakups. It’s a huge turnoff. Other bands I was a fan of did and are doing the same shit. Eagles, Judas Priest, Queensryche, etc. the one thing I can’t blame bands from the 70’s and 80’s, even as far back as the 60’s for is coming back and doing these farewell or reunion tours at advanced ages because they can make as much $$$ in 1 tour than in their entire careers
Money issues at this point is ridiculous. That's why you have to respect RUSH. They agreed in the beginning that they would split everything 3 ways equally no matter who wrote what parts and any tour money etc. They never fought over money and remained close friends until the end....I love Journey but this is ridiculous.
Neal is the Common Variable in ALL of Journeys issues .. So if you employ deductive reasoning… Thee Problem with Journey Is Neal Schun … Steve Perry was smart to just walk away from that nutcase …it bothers him that Steve Perry got all the attention

Anybody that’s been paying attention to Journey over the years knows that Neal is a guy who never grew up. You’re basically dealing with a 10 year old who never grew up. That’s why he’s spending so much. I’m glad Jonathan is being the adult here.
BINGO!
Anybody else remember this ..scandal? years ago where this DC guys wife disappeared, and he thought she had been kidnapped? In reality, she had left him to shack up with Neil. ...good times
Yep, I remember. Unfortunately, Schon’s current wife and her ex-husband were notorious con artists. Her story is an interesting one. I was bummed and disappointed when she ended up with Neil. And Cain’s wife is even nuttier. It’s a real soap opera.
Neal is a narcissist and a spender-living a fantasy with his wife. If he wants to do that fine, but let HIM pay for it, not the company! It's not that complicated...
@@devinjeffrey275 except it is HIS band and HIS $. Jon pulled this same lawsuit before. I think it’s time to call it a day and not let this be their legacy. A legacy of lawsuits.
@@CherylBattista
It’s not Neal’s band.
Also, Neal has been doing the spending in question, not John. Listen, I love them both but beholden to the truth!
@@devinjeffrey275whose band is it if not Neal’s?
@@devinjeffrey275 it IS Neal’s band!
@@CherylBattista Neal and Jonathan are born one day apart from each other, don't know when that day is.......I take it Neal's proably March 30th, with a Moon is Leo apparently they say those born on the 10, 20th, or 30th have battle energy.....and I know a guy born March 30th, his planet is hell.
Neal was using the band credit card for more cosmetic surgery and hair dye.
His wife is a big spender as well.
@@seanl67 Right! Neil should have never gotten plastic surgery. Men can age gracefully and they still look Hot. Now he Looks like he had his face stretched!! And, black hair dye will age our complexion, too. Unless you’re a 15 year old groupie!! LOL
And they wonder why Steve won’t appear with them. They probably been doing this forever and I know Steve is not partial to upheaval and just wants to get on with it.🇦🇺😘
I just saw them in Cleveland on Tuesday & it was amazing. You would never know anything was wrong! Just wow.
good to hear.. am scheduled to see a show in a couple of weeks and this was my first thought.. thanks.
The two of them drop the issue at that stage door. They know they can not do what happened with VH on that reunion tour.
They want to give it to the fans on stage.
Keep it off that playground they love, the stage.
@jenb8128 hey, Van Halen could play well on the 1984 tour in spite of Eddie and Dave feuding out of view.
I agree. I was thinking that they looked genuinely happy and enjoying themselves on stage.
Heck and we thought it was Steve Perry that was the issue.
I think perry carried them and they didn't care about his voice ..no singer of his caliber can sing 180 plus shows a year .he was trying to preserve himself and was thought to be a pain in the butt....
@@patrickking9181 With an unheard of, iconic 8 octave voice would you abuse it? Steve knew how to preserve it. Since the hits were mostly Steve's voice, lyrics, and Steve's productions I'd say Steve carried them - still do to this day! Would your band even want you to abuse it?
The first concert I took my girlfriend, later wife to was Journey \Loverboy in 1981 or 82. We still remember that concert with fondness.
Yep.
No wonder Perry left.
Steve Perry turns out to be a genius - sing a bunch of cool songs and walk away! Pure genius!
I’m sorry but Journey is not Journey without Steve Perry, his voice is something very special and no one fills that void
move on...with or without SP journey band must be continue..they need money to finance..just accept no permanent in this World. everything is faded
Who wrote the songs?
Please excuse my ignorance, I'm just here for the drama...
Yep.
His voice sucks now
So, their first three albums don't count? JOURNEY lost it when Steve joined the band.
I worked with Schon when he was with another band. He is a very strange character!!!
Tell us more!
NEVER get the old ladies involved. EVER. This is what happens every time. Its such a toxic ingredient that its destroyed the biggest bands ever.
Neil wants all the money. At least I saw Journey when Steve was the lead singer
His wife too ! She is a huge part of this problem.
Steve Perry is probably sitting poolside relaxing and glad he's not part of all of this.
I've gotten everything I need from this band. The drama is too much and I consider this to be a post-Journey era.
There are some bands that HAVE to tour to keep from losing everything they own.
And she ran off with Neal after a show for 7 days, ghosting her husband throughout that time span. She's the common denominator in this.
Agreed. Neal needs to grow up.
All those people that blamed Steve Perry for being the problem must be feeling pretty stupid right about now….and Neal- enough with the Botox.
Since the two children in the band can’t be thankful and say “I am sorry,” they will feud their way into tearing up the band’s reputation and Journey’s legacy as a song writing machine having written some of the best tunes - ever.
Seeing journey on the summer stadium tour very soon. I’m so excited!
It's sad when senior citizens act like high school children.
Spoken like someone who has no clue about adult lif 😂🤣
Their " legendary accomplishments" did not happen with the present band. It happened between '77 - '86. Then again in '96. I can't name even 1 song the current band has had a hit with.
Neither can anyone else, save for a few guitar players!
Journey? Oh ya that band Steve Perry was in
Schon and Cain should just get a room already. Jeez! Enough!
I actually feel bad for Deen... He screwed up pretty bad a few years ago but I’m convinced he got clean and straightened his life out . And this is his reward. Schon and Cain constantly at odds…. Jeez
My understanding, Neil schon has been the toxic one for years, even during the days with Perry
I bet schons goal is for him to be the only one left from the original lineup so he has all control
Perry, Cain, Valory and Smith should get back together and find a guitarist that fits the style. Perry, Cain and Schon all have rights to perform as Journey.
Lincoln Brewster for guitarist. He played for Steve in between.
Perry, Cain, Valory and Smith would work!!
Journey without Steve Perry is irrelevant. Only one original member left. Neal should just do solo work.
Steve Perry was not original.
Neil and Cain seem to make up, Tour and then waste their coin on lawyers to sue each other. They are like a couple of bickering old ladies at the casino.
The lawsuit is prob just a first step to arbitration as a goal. Legally binding, and no need to drag anything out in court.
It’s not that simple. The problem seems to be coming from Neal’s wife causing all the problems. Neal’s wife is the Yoko Ono here.
This is a Neal problem. It’s that simple. Jonathan had to do this.
Agreed! Neal always had a mega ego, his way or no way🙄
@@christybradley4049 remind me, which one of Jonathan or Neal founded the band ?
Journey is over . The band is very close to only having one original member left anyway . So just call it a day already .
Neal is the only remaining original member since they fired Ross. Journey has not had more than two original members in the band since 1980.
All the problems keep going back to the root cause of many band problems, the guitarist. Goes back to their first keyboard player, then to singer Perry. Their current singer is willing to leave at anytime.
I feel Neil’s WIFE should be included in all the spending, as well. I’m sure she enjoys living the “Rock Star” lifestyle too!
The band members have always been biting each others butts for guys who have weathered the storms of the many band member changes.
Cain is the good guy! Rarely at odds with anyone!
I know that i'm in the minority, but i liked the original lie-up the best...Gregg Rolie on keyboards and singing and Aynsley Dunbar on drums!
They were first. Had they not done their thing Steve Perry would not have had a Journey to join. And they were a excellent band. A different band for sure but loaded with talent..
I think when Neil started promoting himself as Neil "Magic Fingers" Schon, that really lost me.
It's Neal's wife. She is breaking up the band. She's the Yoko Ono
Sounds like they deserve each other!
Journey died when steve perry left....its just a rehash of a band
Journey is now called KARAOKE
@@betsysimek8955 Did Cetera write/arrange the music or just sing it? Steve Perry did it all!
@@ptlatham7488 Jason Scheff did all that for 20 plus years, but it's 'not Chicago without Peter', right?
I am glad I saw them in Pittsburgh for the farewell tour, just before his injury. They rocked ! Sorry to see them not sing again. Health is more important than……but still sad.
ISNT THIS THE REAL REASON PERRY LEFT NEAL WANTED IT ALL FOR HIMSELF AND DIDNT WANT TO SHARE THE STAGE
I wonder how Def Leppard feels when they are backstage
Joe Elliott brags about how Def Leppard members are loyal to each other. The nutsy Journey story today pretty much proves it.
@@AsHatSelfieStick oh I meant since they are touring together, I wonder if there’s tension backstage lol
@@NOTB666-p7v No bad vibes from Jon - he isn't like that!
Neal is though!
Guys please call it quits. It's time. Infact it's been time.
Neil’s paying for 4 wives that’s enough to make anyone broke
Plus the current one!
He’s been married 5 times? Wow didn’t know that. That explains a lot….if you can’t get it right by 3 your the problem
Senior wasteland.
And now you know why Steve Perry is no longer there.
This is the wheel in the sky...and it just keeps on turning!!😑🤟🥃
Johnny Thunders putted it so eloquently: "Two things fuck bands up; drugs and girlfriends". 👏👏👏
And, egos!
@@pamlatham7032 Yes, you are absolutely right. But egos alone are mostly somewhat manageable. Now add drugs and gynocentric bored gold diggers to the equation and...🔥⚡💣💥

Im done of these groups not growing up. Hats off to Steve though.
Neal is broke spent all his money on plastic surgery 😮
Spent a lot on his wife as well. She's a big spender just like him.
Schon: rhymes with Ron. "Michelle" is Michaele, pronounced "Mikayla". Steve Perry: happy he has tons of publishing and writing credits and doesn't have to perform.
Clown show. Greed isn’t uncommon. Sick of hearing about this garbage. These guys can all disappear along with the Eagles.
No way
Both bands are decades past their prime, they're just collecting checks at this point.
Nothing lasts forever...
Sad to hear
This is really sad to hear Journey is such an incredible iconic band. I wonder how much longer they can go on
Neal Loan.
Old ass bands way past their prime in a public dispute. Pretty routine these days.
Money issues at this point is ridiculous. That's why you have to respect RUSH. They agreed in the beginning that they would split everything 3 ways equally no matter who wrote what parts and any tour money etc. They never fought over money and remained close friends until the end....I love Journey but this is ridiculous.
Don’t Stop Believin’. They can work this out!
This is what happens when you let wives get involved with a band's business (see Sharon Osbourne) nothing good ever comes out of it!
Neal is the Common Variable in ALL of Journeys issues .. So if you employ deductive reasoning… Thee Problem with Journey Is Neal Schun … Steve Perry was smart to just walk away from that nutcase …it bothers him that Steve Perry got all the attention
It's just ridiculous! I'm betting that SP is very glad he's out of all the drama! Isn't it time for Neal and Jon to grow the "F" up?!
