"You're not going to lose your job, you're not going to lose your job........................................you know, you're not going to lose your job" lol
Becomes even more hilarious because Malcolm isn’t there in season 2 😭🤣🤣🤣
Malcom was bloody annoying. I don’t even think I’m real life that a job/promotion like that would require a medical test
every cloud...
I quite liked Malcolm’s character because he was the only one who could challenge Brent

You know what I admire about Brent? True to his word. We didn't see Malcolm in Season 2.
Must be hard to remain autoritative and yet so popular

@@pmason6076 yep, but it was Brent that placed him on the hit list
Yep, that is how life works.
He didn't appear in the second series, and I assume after the end of the first he probably didn't want to work for him and left.
@@dubiouscaesar3709 Brent was forced to let Malcolm go (it was opposed upon him).
They knew who the worst ones were... Gareth had it written down
I think it's funny that even though most of them kept their jobs that Brent still fired Malcolm for the fact he was always challenging his authority.
@Mark Muir You're still thinking about the bad news aren't you. 🤣🤣🤣
how do you know he was fired? i know he doesn't appear in series 2, but is his absence ever explained?
@@garethcullen9604 It was made clear enough when David said you're not gonna lose your job, you're not going to lose your job, points at Malcolm and says ya know, next person you're not gonna lose your job. Then all of a sudden everyone is back from Series 1 apart from Malcolm. Doesn't take a genius to work out that Brent fired him.

It appeared that Malcolm was the only individual that had the balls to confront Brent and speak up then got shafted 😂!
Brent: “A Promotion is generally considered good news” - 👉🏻 Very true! 😂
Absolute genius comedy. 👉🏻”You’re not going to lose your job” and then hesitates when he points at Malcolm and swiftly points to another employee! At that point, Malcolm’s days were numbered! 🏓

Loved this show
We all have a Malcolm in the office. Our one has been working there for over 20 years in the same role and god forbid even the tiniest change is made at work and they're knocking straight on the Ops managers office door.
He's a well identified and recognisable character.
And absolutely useless but think he knows everything. Outside of work lives for his local Badminton Club
Only that Malcolm has nothing to do with the character you describe. He simply had the guts to point out the obvious truth and also to forcefully stop his silly boss from Benny-slapping his head in a previous episode.
@@axonis2306 nothing wrong with that Benny Hill was great banter, he was too sensitive
I wouldn’t consider an office closing and loss of jobs a tiny change. Malcolm was a great character because he was the only employee to speak up against David Brent’s clueless narcissism.
Honestly don't know why he wasn't happy for David and the good news
I think Malcolm is British Stanley.
The idea of someone saying, "Well, there's bad news and there's irrelevant news," has had me giggling for twenty years.

There was just one actor who couldn't control himself. He was almost laughing all the way through. 😂

Be honest here. Who among us wouldn't feel and act a bit like Brent in this situation?!😂
I’ve never seen a manager behave like this in real life. For sure I’ve worked for really bad ones, but when layoffs happen - it’s follow the HR script to the letter - no chatting out on the floor about who’s in and out and slinging BS to the team. But maybe I’m lucky. The humor of this scene is how extreme it is.
The cringe comedy here is off the charts.😂😂

Its so fucked up how ricky never did any acting prior to this. His acting is AAA+
he did loads of media stuff before this, he had a primetime tv show calledd the ricky gervais tv show that was mostly scriped other than the interviews(you can still find his interview with jimmy saville on youtube), he had sketches on not the 11 oclock show that he acted and wrote. the guy wasnt a star but he was a well known comedian before the office.
And was a pop star.

I wondered if this was real when I first saw it.

Was Malcolm's absence in series 2 ever explained on screen?
You gonna cry if I give you the answer?
I think David's "you know," is explanation enough
Translation pls
Malcolm really gets on my nerves.
Why? He's absolutely right.
guttin
Why couldn’t they congratulate David’s good news? Sour grapes
You know there’s only seven people on the board yeah...
Probably because he told them that no redundancies would happen at his branch, then throws them under the bus for his own gain.
I think they made a mistake making David a bad person. The legitimacy of his character is that he gets on with people in office and they like him. Rather than he’s this cliched boss they hate. 2nd series spends too much time making him loathsome etc when really the joy in office 1 is the moments that show people love him and respect him deep down
Except that was never the case. They might have tolerated him more in S1, but after this betrayal they definitely resented him.
@@harrydrake4173 disagree. There’s a loveable Buffon in first series. And you can see how it worked. And how staff liked working with him but series 2 became a parody of all his worst aspects
You’ve no idea what you’re talking about. Nobody deep down loves and respects him. Sounds like one of the delusional things David Brent would say
i do actually, but it takes a nuanced mind to spot it. its the same as with every great bully character, there is an innocent loveable person inside which the show hints at. Take Jonny from Karate kid - he made a great bully because there was a human side to him. And in fact the most aggressive bully was Dutch. Likewise with David Brent, Ricky has written it in a way, whereby he's awkward but to the trained eye, you deep down love him because you can see the pain in him and why hes developed the outer shell. And for his flaws you can tell people like Tim like him and accept him. However instead of allowing him to win more, they focussed on making brent more loathsome and a parody of the worst things from series 1 instead of showing the hints of loveableness that that intersperce in series 1 subtley, which makes him a believable boss. @@jaexiusnem1267
@@jaexiusnem1267 they did. The office is multi layered but you’re only seeing the surface level of Brent
