I watch the whole series every year to remind myself how brilliant real British comedy was and occasionally still is.
Is Gavin and Stacey any good
@@zapkvr It's very popular. I don't like it because I don't like the three main actors, one being James Corden 😏
I don't know if you're American or not.
But I agree with both comments you made.
Nobody wants to upset "cancel culture" anymore.
Woke bla de bla.
The last great risqué comedies were:
1. Fawlty Towers. (Yea alright mate, Monty Python before that)
2. This series.
3. Extras...another Ricky Gervais, Steven Merchant concept.
4. Alan Partridge all of it.
5. The In-Betweeners.
Now; it's bland.
USA?
Only Larry Sanders, played by Gary Shandling, which Ricky Gervais, cites as an influence.
Salutations, from Kensington and Chelsea; in London.

I just finished rewatching today after several years, and thoroughly agree!
@@steffanhoffmann I'm Scottish ☺️
"Can we please stop talking about my dead mothers breasts". Priceless.
Then for good measure, he swiftly moves the conversation on to anal sex 😅
9:53
"Do you want a starter?
"No, let's go straight to the main course."
🤣🤣🤣
The thing is she appeared interested until he started coming out with all that rubbish.
@@vordman Yeah 🤣Not the best conversation topic to begin a first date. 😀
“I’m racking my brains” - funniest line ever uttered by Tim.
“She was just a receptionist”…….made dawn sound like she was useless…gotta love Gareth
Everyone thinks Neil was a great boss. The guy put Gareth in charge ...
Gareth was the right choice for the job. Disciplined, structured, detail-oriented. Yeah he's a bit of a plank at times and drops some absolute clangers, but he's the easy choice over Tim for a 'real' office.
@@Metallex And he understands women
@Metallex He and Jenny originally offered the role to Tim, but Tim cut his nose to spite his face and rejected the offer, stating that he intended to leave. Of course, he never actually left though.
Juxtaposition records.....😂😂😂😂😂
his agent is brilliantly played
Gareths fake whistle 😅
That song could beat anything in todays chart.
made it to number 1 in the 80s
@@bigol9223 Made it to number 9 in the UK in 1973, number 3 in USA 1972. Great song.
10:15 that reaction when he lays eyes on her is comedy gold!!
Gareth's awkwardness when coming out to make the announcement is everything.
With the state of music nowadays I reckon if Rickey released a song it would to number 1 😂
Have you heard the life on the road soundtrack? It's great
@@whiteshadow59 dude loved it 😂 Also thought of “if you don’t know me by now” that made me pmsl. White suit no socks 😂😂😂
it would have gone to number 1 if he bothered to promote it, britain loves it's quirky humour number 1s
@@copyrightcharacter1166 probably would have made Christmas number 1 😂

After The Office I found I no longer required anaesthetic during invasive dental work.

Never get tied of this. Cheers.
Gareth's failed whistle 😅
Noddy Office Holder is the most underrated guy to be associated with this amazing series
I great to watch David again he is excruciatingly embarrassing 😂😂😂😂
Teddy Pendergast would be proud.
I feel bad for the lady at the end with the white scarf. In real life imagine the lady auditions for a part as a date that Ricky is physically repulsed by.
She knew the part and took it willingly.
@@WillScarlet1991she was train ticket collector in Peep Show also
@@rogermaynard2405she was fatty in black books too

David stays winning 🤣🤣🤣🤣
"I think they should have to have a picture taken with a copy of today's newspaper" 😂😂

Ricky is spot on. And that boiler who’s up the stick. Straddler
What?
Well done.
Well it was a waste of money as it didn’t even get in the top 100.

Fck the mainstream

There's beers under the table, doesn't need to go to the bar

The way he signaled to that poor woman at 11:00 that he found her unattractive was sad and hilarious at the same time.
❤💚 Merry Xmas.
Incredible telly
I WASN'T BEING LEWD
Hey don't be coarse
Gets better with age like fine red wine ❤
Big mother..
If yer mam is heavy you win a CD
I’m watching Mackenzie Crook in the great series ‘Detectorists’.
He’s really grown into his face, he doesn’t look anything like as geeky or odd as he did then.
In fairness, his haircut for the role of Gareth was not the most flattering!
@dannyboyy31 the 'bowl' 😆 it was perfect ......
@@charliekane135poor guy had to get married with that cut haha
Gervais used to understand that guys like David Brent and Chris Finch were the joke. Now those guys are his audience.
Unfortunately not. You’re the joke now. Pious, puritanical narcissists.
Ha. One day your bubble will pop and I wish I was a fly on the wall to see it.
Ricky has always been like that. He sucks with Steve merchant
The big joke with Brent was he didn’t really understand the deeper meaning of the egalitarian concepts that he espoused and merely repeated them to gain social kudos and approval.
Is there a chance that he’s mocking the same people for doing the same thing?
Brent today would be loudly proclaiming all the causes which Ricky currently mocks.
I don’t think you’ve really understood the original joke and think the joke was mocking middle aged middle managers.
@@RaferJeffersonIII The world was very different then. He was spoofing the insincerity of douchecanoes at the time (which seems to be more Merchant's contribution than his own). His character postured caring about things in front of the camera, but his actual crew was guys like Finchy and Gareth. If The Office was made today to parallel culture, David Brent would talk about the importance of stoicism and act like he'd read Marcus Aurelius or was into Jordan Peterson. Because that would be "cool" now. I don't think the joke was mocking middle-aged middle managers. I think the show understood the toxicity of guys like Chris Finch and enablers like Brent.
And I think Ricky's audience is now that same guy he used to be comfortable making the villain.
Trying to do a cover of song originally song by mick hucknell was always going to be a bad idea
Good didn't want it to ,next 😂😂😂
Omnipotent😂
Juxtaposition records
😂😂😂
His photo at the end😅
Neil was a muppet in this. I cannot see how Brent came off worse than Neil. The whole I’m your boss stuff or the secretary leaving a half an hour early stuff. Muppet.
brilliant
Forty two thousand pounds 😂😂😂
I've heard a lot of worse songs on the radio than Brent's songs 😅
Trades descriptions innit?
Christmas
HA ha ha
I just realised how a lot of Ricky's lines are things he took from Karl Pilkington
I’m sure he didn’t even meet Karl until after the office?
@@monkfitz he met Karl right after the first series of the office when he went back to do radio.
very very funny man HE HE HE
Bubbles looks like (young) Reni from The Stone Roses
No you won't..... no
He didn’t rip it. Should get the deposit back. But probably does need a dry clean tbh.
It pains me to say it but Big Ange at Spurs looks like Brent in those damn plain suits. Stick to trackies.
Why are Wernham Hogg having tickets made for a Christmas party they're holding in their own office !?
Because it serves the joke

With all of his defects and shortcomings, David Brent was and remains a far more likable character than Michael Scott, his US counterpart.

He’s become a grifter. His last special actually had a joke about asylum seekers in it Some of his stuff now is halfway to Chubby Brown and his piss poor defence of “it’s just a joke” is beyond childish.
The sad part is, like Stewart Lee said “he knows better”. He just understands the “anti woke” material gets him big cheering crowds. He’s a narcissistic sellout like Russel Brand
