paxtofettel The tank controls took a bit of getting used to, you'd get fucked if the monsters cornered you because of the controls. But it was no worse than the usual PS1 generation games. The N64 one was a bit more polished.
When I was about 6 or 7, I watched my uncle play this game. He didn't necessarily fly through it, but it didn't give him too much of a hassle. I had fun watching it, so I decided to give it a try. I couldn't get past the 2nd level back then, and I never got another chance to play it unfortunately. It ended up being the game that got away, because I feel like I would have a blast with it now.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought of Nightmare creatures when Bloobborne got revealed at e3. I immediately looked at it as a modern spiritual successor.
Nightmare Creatures was a game I loved as a teenager back then and a game that I've always thought didn't get enough love for what it was. This game is the living incarnation of Bloodborne, before Bloodborne became so much as an idea.
The second game in the series was badass too, a crazy demon hunter with his head covered in wraps, chopping demons and zombies with an axe like a sadistic killer with the music of Rob Zombie in the background in a dark and Gothic City, the nightmare creatures saga was, and still is a really badass saga of games, little games can compare to it, and maybe there is going to be more games that are really good and stuff, i mean, i like horror games, but this saga had something that felt unique, something in his monsters, his gameplay and his ambient that makes it a really a unique game!
Yeah, the second game has a really really dark atmosphere! The plot is better and conveyed in a better fashion, too. It's just the gameplay that gets too repetitive for me after some time.
*Checks Caddy's channel* Nothing new? Aw, too bad. I'll just go study then. *cat walks over the keyboard and steps on F5* A video. Uploaded 3 minutes ago. Thank you cat.
The audio in this game is so memorable that I think about this game quite often, The noises that the creatures make has always stuck with me since being young.
You always manage to pick games from my childhood that no one else remembers. I love you for this! Everyone I knew had a N64, which was awesome and all and totally worth it, but my family had a PS1 instead for the longest time. So seeing you review all these PS1 games makes me so happy because I feel a lot of reviewers seem to miss them. Thanks for reviewing PS1 games Caddy! Seriously!
I think what i like a lot about Caddy is that he covers great games and shit ones, after all, variation is the spice of life! Still i'm hoping to see him review some tea eventually.
It's a fun game, but damn it could get cheap. Some bosses were impossible at first, and some enemies would just chew through your health. But all in all, it's still pretty decent.
The one thing I wish was in Bloodborne/Souls games is being able to cut off limbs and shit. It'd be so much more satisfying if you could slice the hairy arms off of werewolves or being able to decapitate those brick trolls. It would add something extra to the combat.
Pooky1991 I never played Nightmare Creatures but just watching this review of it I can see quite a lot of similarities, particularly with Bloodborne. I would definitely recommend them. Although, if you haven't had experience with difficult games you might struggle to begin with, but trust me, if you put the work into improving your skills it pays off and is very satisfying when you manage to beat bosses and make progress.
@@lucinae8512 Honestly, I kind of hated it. Pretty much felt like to me, what I think a number of people felt like when watching/rewatching Little Britain (especially the later seasons).

I've never played this, but remembering how I was with horror games, I'm pretty sure that if I played this as a kid, the menu alone would have made me shut off the game.
I finished nightmare creatures 1 as a kid but I could never get past the first level of nightmare creatures 2, that game was a LOT scarier and everytime I played it I had nightmares about it.

I would like to mention that last time I played this game I was 6 years old. It's crazy how hearing you play some of the audio jostles back memories that i forgot I even had
Hey, Caddi, thanks for making this video. I always saw this game on the shelves at game stores and Blockbuster and was too scared (I was a kid) to give it a try. Really liked your approach for this vid. Once I get access to my Playstation again, I will have to give this guy a try!
Is it so bad I like mountain dew, and I like doritos? and I liked them /before/ I played video games? seriously I get they are now associated with game culture but I feel like I'm shamed for enjoying them. Could we just, make it clear we don't actually have anything against people like me? Because if you do, you're a jerk.
Great game, so many memories with that one. there was one awesome thing, I think it was a code or something that let you play as the monsters. Certain monster on certain level. More games need that kind of stuff.
Thanks for that video, i played this game as a kid but couldnt remember the Name(i only rememberd those long dark hallways) at some point i even tought this game never existed and that it only was a dream lmao
Holy fuck, this game! Thanks man, now I know the name of the game that haunted my dreams as a child... Only had the demo, but played it soo much and was always just as scared as the first time.
Interesting, I played the Sequel, Nightmare Creatures 2, just a few days ago. It had an amazing artstyle, but seems to be much more simplistic in design than the first. There was only one weapon and two (!) combos in the whole game! It seems like it was a good idea to play the sequel first, since it seems to be very different, and not neccesarily improved. Also, chopping zombies in half with an initially _blunt_ weapon never gets old.

Why does every game have to have camera issues?! You might as well throw a rock at the camera until it's destroyed.
Nintendo actually had copyright on stick camera controls...
puffnisse If they had a copyright on 'stick camera controls' then why was it not introduced until the Gamecube, years after the Duelshock?
