Can this be done on the bike or does the motor have to be pulled

Hey what about the timing marks ? You just went flying removing all that , but then how do you put all back together with the correct timing on the engine ? Got me very confused

Im going to guess at 250lbs. We ship motors from time to time and the V-twins are well above 150lbs. Thanks for watching. Let me know what videos you'd like to see on the Vmax.

My V Star cut out on me last night going to work. It had been back firing for some time and I noticed the bike losing power after hitting 75 mph. Last night it sputtered and as I tried to give it gas, it would want to cut out. I noticed some dark smoke coming out of the exhaust and I just had a carb rebuild 6 months ago. The bike only has 5000 miles on it so I am perplexed.

If you had carb work done. I'm wondering if they didn't get one of the jets in tight enough and it finally loosened up enough to fall out causing a rich mixture. Regardless, I think you'll have to dig into the carburetor. Let me know what you find. Hit the subscribe button if you get a chance.

@@MidNebraskaMotorsports I found my fuel filter clogged as well and replaced it with a glass see through to monitor what was going in. I saw chunks of black flakes immediately go in. So I am going to clean my gas tank and do a carb check as well. Thank you for the response.

Great question. Did you make a decision? Just a side note if not. A top end rebuild is no easy task on these. I would suggest talking to a repair shop about a quote before you jump into anything. Great question! Thanks for watching! Hi I did a search for V star and cylinder head. I've got this idea bouncing around in my head that I can't seem to get rid of?
What about swapping (flip)cylinders heads so that exhaust exit in the middle to create a V mounted turbo? Then customise twin injection throttle bodies (or possible large single with plenum?)
I know Audi did this with their Lemans diesel V6 to utilise more of the thermal drive normally lost to radiant heat? Shortening the distance between the first constriction in the exhaust + back pressure between those points and reducing the surface area for escaped heat = more exhaust heat driving the turbine = 👍

By the way I understand my idea won't be so straight forward? I have rebuilt many cars and done all kinds of custom work. I worked in street customs shop helping a mate for a many years. I'm a CNC operator. I am looking to start on welding skills next on my list! Mechanical skills I have. But just being able to cut and change something and make it work like factory again.....when you can weld, mig or tig you've got a skill that saves so much hassle.... Just relocating your parts to get work done can be a pain in the arse
