A lot of good feedback so far! What else do you guys think it could be?
It might be the map censor on the turbo
I was having issues with torque converter lockup. Remove the ground wire from the alternator bracket area and move it - and put new battery terminals all the way around. Check all your grounds. Make sure the vp44 has the best chance of a solid circuit.
Have you gone about testing your tps sensor or resetting it? I’d definitely check the grounds too. Also is it building boost?
@@joshrepik he has a manual..
@@natek9237 I recognize that, but the vp44 and APPS still want clear uninterrupted 12v with no alternator noise from bad terminals or dying batteries.
TPS I have the same problem on my 02
Had similar issue had loose grounds on my batteries and body grounds etc tightened them up and back to normal
I’ll check all grounds. Thanks!
My truck did the same thing 99 5 speed cummins 5.9 it wouldn’t have any power at all would barely get up a hill ended up being a fuel leak at the injector line and tube
Fuel filter problem. Last time changed?
Pulled the top and it was basically brand new looking
That’s what I was thinking. My truck would sputter until I changed the fuel filter and now she runs like a champ. Check your grounds too. Grounds are a big factor!
I have the same problem on my 99
It’s the TPS . When the pedal goes tap it twice or three times it will come back
The tps from the dually could have been bad also🤷🏼♂️
It could be the speed sensor
Love the back glass decal🤝
Vp is on its way out
Could very well be the MAP as others have noted, but my suggestion is seriously check the battery terminals. They may look good but the lugs on mine corroded inside and it was hard to tell til you wiggled the post on the terminal or twisted it. Weak connection is weak connection and the APPS and vp44 do not like weak signal or noise in the signal as in the ground that runs through the alternator cover. Get that line away from there and I got a 10pk of terminals from autozone for $15. Worth it. My issue was torque converter lockup because I have a 47re, but I had the dead pedal issue prior to that too. The only other thing I could think would be the lift pump itself. If the air dog doesn’t fix it then I’d say it’s an electrical issue
Your truck sounds real good dippin diesel
Thank you Joseph 😁
Keep on Truckin'!!!
Had a very similar probably with my 99 auto Cummins, scanned it except I had no codes and I took off the same programmer you had. Installed a fuel pressure gauge and saw I was getting 5psi at idle at the factory fuel filter housing. Put a fass 100 on and it fixed my problem, now getting 17psi
Hopefully the vp44 isnt going out
Hopefully not 😂 just talked to the original owner. He said he might know what’s wrong with it because it’s happen to him before 🤔
Mine did that it was the MAP sensor
I pulled it off and it didn’t look gummed up at all but I cleaned it and reinstalled it. Same thing happening. I may have to just replace it if it’s something that it could be. Thanks
@@DippinDiesel yeah mine looked brand new and still did that replaced it and had all my power back it would go over 2k rpm and yeah no worries
Hmmm. I may have to try that!
@@DippinDiesel I definitely would! I've had several of these trucks and that's always been the issue
My truck did the same thing, it ended up being the boost sensor. Unplug the boost pressure sensor if the problem goes away, you know the sensor is bad.
I’ll look into that. Thanks for the suggestion!
A manual has a tps sensor?!? 🤔
Yes
The accelerator pedal position sensor tells the vp44 how much fuel is being demanded, so yes.
@@joshrepik oh ok well I run a p7100 ..we dnt need that 😎
@@ad1011000 They can have a TPS too lol
@@jesseleesamples yes my 12v was an automatic but whenever the transmission started having issues..i did a nv4500 swap!! best decision ever lol
You’re kinda just shootin in the dark with no way to check fuel pressure and no way to read all the codes. You’re on the right diagnostic path with checking fuel pressure & codes, you just need to confirm both before you can actually know anything. Otherwise you’re just throwin parts at it and maybe throwin money away. If the gauges don’t work, just use a fuel pressure tester to check it at the shop and see what it has to rule that out first. If you don’t have one, they don’t cost much at a parts store, or you might even be able to rent one somewhere. You could see if their code reader will read any codes while you’re there also to see if it’s the truck or your scanner acting up. You’re definitely on the right path, you just need to confirm those 2 things so you know what actually needs fixed.
It’s your injection system for the rpm issues, my 24v did the same thing, I had to replace the whole thing vp44, block lift pump, and tank lift pump, I just sold the fucking thing 😂
Well I have an extra vp44 from the dually if it comes to that but let’s hope it doesn’t 🙏🏽
Try changing out the fuel filters I had a problem with mine and I changed out both fuel filters one on the underneath and 19 in the engine but mine was a Ford and yours is a Dodge it's a cheap fix if it solves the problem
I got the new AirDog a few days ago! So I’m not gonna change the stock filter when I’m gonna bypass it with the new fuel lines but thanks for the comment 😄
FPR on the common rail could be on its way out.
hey brother do you wanna sell this truck?
You’ll figure it out. If not I know a guy that works on diesels and he’s highly sought after for repairs. He lives near you. Good luck and maybe try making the videos a bit longer.🇺🇸💪👍
You need an alignment lol
After the leveling kit and everything is installed I’m getting an alignment
@@DippinDiesel I haven't been watching, so I was giving you shit I haven't watched in a while tbh.
Hopefully the disposal of those paints/solvents was IAW the EPA... 😕
Trike engine out the fuel filter or fuel filters mine has two of them one on the underneath on the frame and one in the engine if that solves our problem it's a cheap fix mine was plugged it had no power you know it was shut off you let it sit for a little while
Do fuel filters first
Start simple
Checked it. Looked brand new
This dude’s main focus is adding powder coated parts. All the sharp edges on those steel parts will be bleeding rust once they see the slightest bit of moisture. Watch 😂😂
Spend more than $500 on the next Turd!
I found another nv4500 truck for $500 should I buy it ?
@@DippinDiesel Yes. Your getting all those steals
@@DippinDiesel Do what ever makes you happy 😊
The fuel pressure sensor is a big culprit and not cheap so, steal the one off the rail of your other truck before committing to a new one but I would be willing to bet the FPS is on its way out.
I also second the APPS and possible boost issue but these common rails demand high fuel injection PSIs.
