Wrong attitude when a person says that you take the risks of radical new agency regulations that retroactively infringe on preexisting rights. Gun owners, farmers, ranchers have dealt with agency abuses for years. The best organization to contact is New Civil Liberties Alliance. The Pacific Legal Foundation, Mountain States Legal Foundation and Southeast Legal Foundation are also good orgs to contact when agencies go crazy radical.
The only reason EPA seeks settlement instead of coming in like Houthi pirates is because they know they are on thin ice............. for years lawyers have been disarmed from properly assessing limits of agency power. They are worrying so much about small land vehicles, when ships burn super high sulfur bunker oil, aircraft burn incredible amounts of diesel fuel. They will even dump raw fuel to lighten the aircraft before landing. I don't think trains are forced to use exhaust fluid. Pickups produce minimal amounts in comparison.
It's never been about the environment. It has been about destroying the middle class. Otherwise all government vehicles would have the same crap that makes them unreliable and burn more fuel.
The Diesel community needs to man the fuck up and start fighting this in court. Same exact thing with the ATF and guns. We need to organize, and fight.

@@GMCJay_lly It'd take time and money but it's a very probable win, especially since our current SCOTUS has made many rules upholding the 10th Amendment and the ongoing stuff with the ATF, this is our chance.
There are two USSC cases being heard this year that we really need to watch as both have the potential to limit Chevron deference, the broad discretion given to federal agencies to make regulations, many of which are well outside the law passed by Congress. The cases are Relentless, Inc. v. Department of Commerce and Loper Bright Enterprises v. Raimondo.
@Thebipolarachiever epa looks like they're in bed with china. They make the exhaust particles smaller so they get deeper into our lungs, who knows what that causes. Precisely. It tears me up that there are no good shepherds in the sense you mention. DEF for example. Similar to the recent court rulings on the ATF the EPA doesn't have regulatory authority only Congress. Manufacturers need to challenge their authority otherwise its going into creep instead everything.
Great idea. Please find a layer that will take this case. One from the county that grew up on a farm/ranch and drives an older diesel truck. I promise one is out there.

Older Diesel vehicle particulates are mainly a problem in cities like LA where they are in a bowl and emissions dwell for a long time due to geography. They are not a problem in rural areas or even in suburbs. The regulations are horribly thought out, as older diesels are so much more efficient.
@@dingleberryxo7623The rural diesel particulates go to the same place that other rural dust goes. Some west Texas cities use snow plows to remove natural dust in the winter when crops aren't irrigated and tilled fields are bare. Very nice that you gave up the shipping records so the EPA can go after your customers , me making a choice to go back to a 98 24V cummins was a smart one ...
Nothing they can do about it they will just come in a seize everything any way. This is happening to everyone not just diesels and so far everyone that has hired a attorney has lost. There trying to make it were you cant even build a race car if it came from a factory with a VIN# at any time.

Same... I ordered my '01 7.3 PSD F350 from the factory in September, 2000. 176,000 miles of mixed use driving including plenty of towing. Only mechanical repair was a water pump that I replaced myself and, um, the weak link, the 4R100 tranny. On it's third iteration. I plan on the truck outlasting me.
@@melrobinson6919 Mine has the C6 trans. They call them the toughest trans-Ford ever made. They're much simpler and only a 3-speed auto so you won't win any races or top speed contests. But, they're bulletproof and to further ensure that, I added an upgraded trans cooler.
@@kman-mi7su I had an '83 F350 with the 351W in it with the C6, which was a bulletproof tranny. Trouble was I had the 4.10 rear end, so 60 mph was 2750 rpm. I added a Gear Vendors OD unit which doubled the forward gears to 6 and the Gear Vendor in 3 over gave me 60mph at a much better rpm of about 2250. Then I did an engine swap to a 460 gas hog. Better power, but even worse gas mileage. Had to install an external fuel pump and it constantly vapor locked in the heat out at Lake Mead where I boat, so I sold the truck and ordered my '01 7.3.
The real issue is the EPA imposing restrictions and manufacturers producing emissions systems that fail to the point that the private sector is forced to come up with solutions. The emissions standards had good intentions with poorly implemented solutions. I think we all agree on defeating to roll coal is not the solution.
These trucks can be tuned clean without all the crap. Emissions equipment has nothing to do with clean air. A truck without is better for the environment than a truck with emissions. The chemical reaction with def dpf and the heat is nasty for the environment.

It's good to see someone that has a brand loyalty step up and give credit where it's due. But, he understands the numbers and how they affect drivability. From what he stated it's like he and Banks are looking looking at making use of what's there. Banks has a short video stating that you can only use the maximum torque in first gear on a Duramax because of shift points for the transmission. His concentration on transmissions lately are a way of getting more power to the ground without modification of the engine. The learning curve of these newer engines is actually still in the early stages. Great way to take the podcast to put good information out to everyone that's looking and still have many questions!
Yeah, politicians are trying to claw back the Chevron Deference so that they can rule on their own personal judgement, without any working knowledge of what they are voting on. It is the Big Government way of thinking. We absolutely need to maintain the Chevron Deference, especially in regards to EPA. Hopefully the SCOTUS keeps it in place, as if they discarded it, they would have a mountain of prior cases being re argued
I like my old Cummins trucks since they were so clean they didn't even come from the factory with a catalytic converter. They just have a muffler and resonator. So many people toss those into new trucks bodies around here. There are tons of new F series Fords and even new Dodges running the 12v and 24v Cummins 5.9 engines.
Even with proper tuning, what's the average life of a DPF/catalytic converter ,and how much will it add to the the long term overall cost of ownership of Diesel?
From having new trucks, they make it 30K miles and warranty will cover it, my dad's made it 95K miles and plugged, we had no warranty, it was $1800 for a filter or $800 to delete and tune, with us running a business my father didn't know what to do, a fine for a trucking company would put you out of work
I'm a Diesel tech, I would say 70% of the trucks in our fleet (healthy mix of all commercial sizes and brands) end up in our shop from an emissions issue. I have not done serious engine work in awhile but I pull cans and replace sensors constantly on these stupid things. We got 1 379 in the fleet still that really only comes in for PM's and wear items.
I'm still driving my LBZ. It has about 300k miles and running strong. I did replace the injectors recently because they wery starting to go out, so I replaced them with 30% over and replaced the cp3 while i was in there. I did use tunes from duramaxtuner.

I literally just sold my 4th Gen Mega Cab I bought brand new in 2018 and purchased an 06’ 3rd Gen Mega Cab DRW for emissions reason especially living in California. Yes I payed a pretty penny for it and purchased it out of state
Food for thought here. Diesel exhaust (black smoke matters) is less harmful to the environment as it pertains to “green house gasses” and smog when compared to gasoline engines (2 & 4 stroke). However the particulate size of sulphur in the exhaust is considered more harmful to people when compared to gasoline exhaust. So what’s the deal? I guess I’m for the environment over any health risks I could be exposed to. In my opinion.

Hear in California the magic year for no emissions testing is 1997 and older so obviously that means first and second gen Cummins are going to be around for ever basically. The used values are already way above 3rd generation. Lots of guys hear will eather drive there old trucks for ever or completely walk away from diesel and buy a new gas truck.
No, Diesel phased out, as you transition to gas, they too are phased out. If you are caught on the highway with a diesel or gas vehicle , it gets impounded and crushed. How do you not know these poluting vehicles are going the way of the dinosaurs. You think hydrogen will save your engines...no, that will be outlawed as well.
There are great aftermarket parts for the 6.0. Once they've been upgraded their a nice pulling power plant. Easy to work on. I put 8K in my 03 D/max with upgrading fuel related issues. Maintenance and practicality pertanant
Its sad that they have nothing better to do. Isnt this proof they are not saving anyone from anything. Simply proving that "their laws" were unreasonable to begin with. They were good up to a point. They now need to be dissolved.
The primary issues are NoX sensors/DEF Heaters should NOT be shrugged off! Currently just in repair costs alone (not including downtime & rental costs to replace a down truck), my company is spending over a MILLION dollars per year to repair exhaust & emission system failures. And that is on trucks that are only 2-7 years old with only 200k-300k miles since we refreshed our fleet. Longevity is key, especially when every time one of these trucks go down for emission system failures it costs thousands to repair, and around a month of downtime depending on parts availability. These systems are improving, however it's a guaranteed failure point that costs a LOT of money to fix. For now, I have a hard time endorsing new emission trucks. My old diesel is a work horse that is still ticking and shows no sign of stopping.
I have an 02 ram. All stock except for 4inch exhaust and it does everything i need it to do. If I had plenty of money, the only thing I would change is I would like for the turbo to spool up at a little lower rpm. It won't start building any good boost till about 1800rpm. I would love it to start about 1500.
I have been a mechanic for 45 years. First diesel I rebuilt was a big cam 400 at the age of 16. To hear that people believe that there was no emissions before 2007 1/2. There was emission in the 60's. The pumps had a safty wire on them that was stamped. Starting In the late 70's the CHP had there eyes certified for opacity. They could pull you over and give out a ticket.
A guy in new jersey a few years ago posted his deleted Ram on fakebook marketplace for sale stating it was deleted and within a few days the state EPA showed up at his door and told him he cant sell it unless all emissions equipment is restored or he must have the truck destroyed
Idk how the epa can crack down on pre emisson diesel ain't they technically grandfathered in due to the fact it met the emissions standards for that year before the clean air act cane into play

As far as I am concerned the ONLY reason the epa is going so INSANE is to BANKRUPT EVERY Diesel Owner . In My opinion the Only reason a Diesel engine smokes is to MUCH fuel .
The positive I see in soot reduction is less in the oil, oil filtration is such a big factor to engine life, fire rings in late model diesel engines that minimise carbon build up on piston above top ring to minimise bore scuffing at high milage shows reduction of soot means reduction of carbon deposits and all this is additional engine life not just efficiency of fuel milage, the life achieved by working diesels has increased monumentally in my 45 years as a diesel fitter and that has built an expectation from owners and I just don't mean motor vehicles but across the board on hiway off hyway, mining, marine, everywhere !
Ever pulled the intake plate off an emissions Cummins? Yah the soot goes right back into the intake. Grid heater clogs up, rings stick, it's straight garbage. It keeps you buying a new truck to stay in warranty.
I have an LBZ and the amount of hoops I have had to jump through to pass emissions over the past 3 years is absolutely bonkers. I bought the HSP big air bundle and literally can't use 98% of it. Currently my trucks flagged over a catch can venting to the atmosphere. Literally everything else is on and working correctly. Yet I can pass until I take yet more of my HSP kit off. Really has made me not want to drive my truck. So she's sat since November. It hurts but I think it's time to get her running again.
Why does no one make a front grille for LBZ era trucks that allow for a bigger radiator and more air flow. I have thought multiple times how nice it would be to upgrade to the amount of air flow that newer trucks get and allow them to expand to higher towing capabilities. Just a thought.
@@bucketheadrox there is a billet grille but more what I am looking for is a way to modify the front of the truck to allow for a grille that is the size of the ones on a new truck like an L5p. If you look at an LBZ front grille vs a newer truck front grille there is probably 2x the surface area letting fresh air in and passing over the radiators.

Yah I'm sure that will happen. The newest SC Justice cannot tell you what a woman is, but yet makes the most important judgements of this once great nation. We are all F'd unless people stand up and reclaim our nation.
What about the carbon produced to make the ammonia used in dpf or to make the system to install or the amount of problems caused when carbon build up causes over fueling and poor efficiency caused by epa systems reliability isnt that a bigger cause for bad emissions than just running reliable efficient engines and fueling than creating clutter and complex designs that cost more in carbon manufacturing and maintenance costs
The EPA wouldn't have looked if idiots blowing black smoke with street trucks wasn't a thing. How many videos of rolling coal or wherever else is out there like a big red flag for all to see. I'm all for power. But your goal should be getting all the power you can without fogging a neighborhood ever time you leave a stop light
That is an obvious visible thing, but overall the EPA is an administrative state that is against fossil fuels and will continue to eliminate all uses. Like gas stoves, pizza ovens, firewood, etc.
Tell that to my wasted diesel VW Passat... 50 mpg but the EPA would rather it get 32... What friggen sense does that make? More fuel per mile??? The carbon and whatever else is STILL coming out. Apples to Apples the European VWs were even into the high 60mpg because they didn't have the DPF and urea injection. I miss that car. These pencil pushers need to be punished.
Make vehicles use twice as much fuel with emissions equipment and the emissions equipment doesn't make the air twice as clean. Think if how many dollars went into engineering modern day diesel emissions equipment. Now imagine if those dollars went into increasing mileage/ lowering consumption. But big oil cant sell you more fuel that way.

Dump the EPA!!!!!!
I know, dumping fuel outa aircraft to keep the passengers and crew from burning to death in a crash landing seems so "un-necessary".
Obviously harming passengers isn’t the issue but where is the oversight when it comes to where/how much etc. is dumped.
Some planes still use leaded fuels....
They are not worried about land vehicles they want your money the problem is you guys think like mechanics and they think like gangsters
AV Gas is the leaded stuff they took away from us. So all those lovely leaded fumes come floating down to us.

I know some folks in TX who have a souped up 5.9 RAM 2500 that failed emissions in South Texas. Therefore truck is registered with parents in an emissions-exempt part of Colorado!
They're aren't any emissions in Texas
Texas just in 2024 removed all emissions testing

Diesels only have safety tests in Texas.
Same way in Missouri just safety !.
The 6.0 guys, who love them, actually register them out of state after money saving deletes of the absurd egr cooler. Horrible design.

Glad we don't base any decisions on your opinion.
@@patarmstrong3582 My opinion is based on what I see . and several conversation with people I know that are Stuck with Modern Crap
EPA out of control for a long time
I have an LBZ and the amount of hoops I have had to jump through to pass emissions over the past 3 years is absolutely bonkers.
There's not a billet grill?
@@bucketheadrox there is a billet grille but more what I am looking for is a way to modify the front of the truck to allow for a grille that is the size of the ones on a new truck like an L5p. If you look at an LBZ front grille vs a newer truck front grille there is probably 2x the surface area letting fresh air in and passing over the radiators.
Install an air foil/baffle directly under/below the radiator to increase negative air pressure behind the radiator?
😂
Cause the stuff and tech and power back in the day for the truck, that air flow was sufficient
