Valentina can I just tell you that you are such a comfort to me! I was just recently telling my daughter in law about your channel & we watched one of your videos together and it was the one where you showed the Scott Mitchell book. My daughter-in-law ordered that book for me because that was my husbands name. He recently passed away and that book is a great form of escape, sort of a meditation. I’m sorry for your loss… I enjoy watching Valentina’s channel as well….. my grandpa recently passed away. Helps me get through my days with my own home as well as a rental property my grandfather graciously left me 😢 I miss him immensely.
A trick I picked up from the designer of theatrical sets. Choose your rich neutral (blue, brown, green, etc.) Then, get the brilliant white tint base, and add your rich neutral to the tint base bit by bit until you have 'softened' the white. It usually takes a tablespoon or two of the dark color to 'temper' or soften the white. Both colors look phenomenal together!

@@raew6366 Yep. Although you need to keep in mind that the color is always darker and more saturated on a large surface than it is on a small swatch - so err on the light side!

I’m an interior designer and Greek Villa is my go to wall color. Most of my house is Greek Villa with accents of Tricorn. Great suggestions!

I think that a nice neutral beige color is SW Natural Linen. It's beige without being too warm. Very clean and crisp without being glaring.
I would love to see a video helping those of us pick paint colors that go with wood tones!! Those of us who have bought older homes or furniture pieces that don’t want to paint the wood--how do we work with it?!!! It’s never the updated wood tones 🤣 can we talk about pines, provincials, oaks, etc! You started to mention woods at the end--
Yes!!!! I desperately need some guidance on that for the very same reasons! I live in an older home…it was actually my grandparents home and where I spent every weekend growing up….and it has all the original woodwork/trim, which is a dark mahogany, along with the original hardwood floors throughout, which are lighter and have more of the warm orangey undertones. On top of that, we also have several stained glass windows that have a variety of colors. All beautiful but at the same time make it extremely difficult when it comes to choosing paint and getting that “just right” color pallet. So yes, I also would definitely love some advice on that!
I think Sherwin Williams Urbane Bronze doesn’t get enough attention. It was the color of the year for 2021. I just moved into my custom home and I used Urbane Bronze on my bathroom cabinets, kitchen island, laundry room cabinets, laundry room island and all the interior doors. I get numerous compliments and questions of, “What color did you use?” It compliments my wall color, Repose Gray, and the kitchen island really stands out against my white kitchen cabinets. In different light it has various shades of green, gray and bronzy brown. I absolutely love it!

I’ve been planning for quite a while to change the entire look/color scheme of my kitchen and of course, my biggest hang-up has been choosing a color/colors for my cabinets and island and Urbane Bronze just keeps coming to mind. I have used this in so many places in my house and love it. It works for trim, walls, I even have one ceiling.
Great video, so helpful! The last two and a half minutes where you explained your tips and answered common questions was SO helpful (respecting bold colors, cherry wood doesn’t work with yellow undertones, etc.). Learning what does work is helpful, but I think knowing what does NOT work and why is even better. Thanks Valentina, love your channel!!
So what DOES work with cherry wood if you still want a white neutral tone?
I painted the exterior of my house in matte Iron Ore, including all the trim, and it is just gorgeous! It’s so soft, and rich, and I have really big trees all around the house that create beautiful shadows. Can’t recommend Iron Ore enough!
I keep trying to find something to repaint so I can use this color!!😊

@@csaw1999 I kept my ceiling and trim white but have considered painting it. It’s been a little under 6 months since I painted and I do love it in the rooms I chose which have a lot of windows and a glass patio door. At times when it’s cloudy outside , I notice a greenish undertone that comes through but it still compliments my furniture and greenery and so it looks good in the space and still maintains the feel I was going for. When it’s brighter outside then it’s very warm and light. I like the changeability. Hope that helps.
We chose SW Accessible beige for our home recently. We were told Cedar Key, but it looked pink in our house, so we switched to AB and love it. The house was really dark and dated (70’s home tucked in the mountains), and AB lightened it beautifully while keeping it warm and natural feeling. We have some high contrast with our big, black woodstove and deep brick fire place, and although I never have thought of myself as a “high contrast” girl, I’m actually realizing I love the AB so much with that deep black stove (and my son’s black music stand for violin) similar to your black paint. Our trim is white so that basic pallet is there for us.

How about a good paint color for updating wood bathroom cabinets?? Especially a black and white color.
Your videos are the best Valentina!!! We’ve repainted our walls with SW Panda White and use a neutral color palette as well. Wool Skein, Relaxed Khaki and Universal Khaki are all colors of that palette and work so well together. Black Fox is another great black that has a softness and some brown. Thanks for all your hard work with such amazing content!!👏👏👏👏👏

We painted most of our interior Benjamin Moore Ballet White last year … sort of slightly warmer side of off white with a drop of gray. Lovely and sophisticated. I hope it has staying power!! Thanks Valentina!!
I've had Sherwin Williams Woodland Lichen, (now called Pewter Green), on half a bedroom wall for at least 6 months, to see if I liked it enough to go all the way. I LOVE IT! Others think I'm nuts, but so what!! It looks gorgeous with so many other colors, like flowers against trees!
I think you'd approve of the colours I chose for our house in Australia. A beautiful fresh neutral white on most of the walls, half strength of that white on the ceiling and cornices, a very dark peacock green in my planty reading room & my husbands office, a sexy moody dark green sagey brown in our bedroom.
Curious… I’m Australian too.. you can’t get Sherwin Williams here (which I literally cried over), so who did you go with? I used Porter’s Paints; they’re the only ones I felt where the pigment was rich, dense and consistent. Yes, it cost hundreds, but I love the huge difference good quality paint can make!

Please discuss stained wood trim/doors/ cabinets and what color paints to use. We have natural maple flooring with a warm brown color in the cherry woodwork,cabinets,and built-ins. A few months ago you showed a video of your daughter's room makeover and the color she choose was BM's "Baby Fawn" also known as "Edgecomb Gray", which is a "greige". That ended up in my list of color choices and, well, it took me three months to choose, not an afternoon. 🤣 I paired it with Kendall Charcoal for cabinets, an entertainment center, and some focal point walls with board and batten wainscoting. The combination is ever so delicious. My 19-year-old daughter finally moved out and we painted that room Baby Fawn as well and I am so very, very happy with it. This condo used to have butter-yellow walls that I hated and mint green bedrooms. What a wonderful change!! And all thanks to you. I brought in blue, green, and an earthy orange (inspired by an art piece of my daughter's) that influenced my choice of stunning blue/green/orange tilework in the kitchen. The whole thing is elegant and tasteful. Thanks to your advice to use neutrals. I believe they make an excellent base to which elements of color can be added.

We just painted and my office is Greek Villa and our living room in pure white. I wished I would have used Greek Villa in my living room bc I see blue/purple/gray undertones depending on the time of day. I love Greek Villa! I did use Alabaster in my bedroom but it does not look like it has yellow undertones in our space/lighting. I love all of your recommendations! I go back and forth between loving sleek and sophisticated and happy and inviting/cozy. I need to figure out how to marry them both in a cohesive way. Have a great week! 😊

It's been a LONG time but if you might recall we met in Morocco when I came out on a trip with Mosaic and then we had kept in touch for a bit while I was in Germany and you were in Denmark. How time go so quickly and changes so much! Well, we are now in the middle of our own home reno now. I was just searching "High Reflective White"... imagine the fun it was for me when up came your video and I saw your face! Anywho, just had to comment to say hello. For me it’s gray, it’s just sooooo depressing to me
I am thinking of going with Egret White from sherwin-Williams as a main wall colour with pure white as my trim and Pediment as my accent wall colour. I have blonde wood floors and crisp white modern Scandinavian furniture. I have to pick up some sample paint and put it on a poster boards to see how it will look under different lighting conditions, but I think it should be a warm light reflective soft colour that still offsets to the crisp clean furniture and trim.

Just found my new Sherwin Williams love! Its Inkwell! I am in love with this color! Doing my attic walls/ceiling and plywood floors in Inkwell and all trim and window sears in Sherwin Williams pure white. Gorgeous!
What white paint would you recommend for trim throughout the house? Some rooms are painted in warm colors, others are cool. Please suggest whites from two or three paint companies.
I painted my main floor shoji white a couple months ago and was nervous because i don’t hear recommended….until today! I already have as happy with the color and now I feel validated because Valentina loved it too. 😊

I recently painted like 75% my house repose grey and all our furniture is white and beige with very light browns thrown in. It works just depends on your decor. The bedrooms are beige but like a grey beige

Love your colour palette for the exterior of the home, we’ve just put up a new colourbond fence in Shale Grey and I was very nervous about the colour when all we had to pick from from one of those little swatches but it turned out perfectly, we added Iron Ore as the posts and top rails to give it some definition and a pop of colour instead of being all the same, I’d love to have our brick home rendered in something similar as we have the Iron Ore colour for our gutters and posts around our home but not a stark black, it’s all coming together nicely Thanks to your helpful tips Valentina, our next project is to concrete around parts of our home and I’m going to lay down artificial grass, less maintenance as we get older Lol 😂 and hubby is going to build me some planter boxes that I got inspiration from one of your previous videos when you visited a garden centre and it had artificial grass in the area that I loved so much, I’m going to take it all the way under our outdoor area so I have the outdoors coming in and making it look bigger and more functional for our lifestyle here in Australia 🇦🇺, we spend a lot of time outdoors sitting rather than indoors especially coming into our Summer months, we cook a lot on the Weber grill during summer 🌺. Ideas for small kitchen please make a video
I have an older semi open ranch and I want to do one color throughout main living area. I get lots of light in kitchen dining sitting area but not in livingroom or halls. I am not a huge white white person but want something light open airy but still homey. I love earthy colors like the greens (shade grown ir in that area) darker blues like a navy or like a burnt orange in my throws or pictures. Nothing ever yellow. (Hate that yellow tint.) Kinda bohemian/ desert colors. Do you have any ideas on colors that's not a pure white or beige color? A netural color that is good for all lighting and still feels open and airy.
Oh dear...wished I had viewed this sooner. I just paint my whole interior with a warm white (Westhighland White by SW) which has a bit of yellow undertone that I didn't pick up on until the walls were painted. Thought my only choices were warm with yellow undertone or cool with blue undertone.
Love this helpful video! Curious…in our dining room we have SW City Loft on our ceiling, then cove modling, then city loft again with judges panels throughout. Do you think City Loft and Moth Wing will compliment each other? Or clash? Our current idea is Magnolia Paint in Rustic Oak. Definitely love browns and this 42 yr old is here for it! I am having a difficult time selecting paint this go around....you gave me a great idea to paint the trim the same as the walls. I have a danish walnut china cabinet and chairs/small table in this room. looking for a neutral color. the room has a new white vinal bay window. The walls have wood paneling on the bottom of the wall which will be painted. I have a greek villa paint sample. I am so confused with updating this house and I am appreciating your videos. Thank you
Really helpful. I've been considering those colors for my bedroom make over. Trying to stay in a white that has some warm beige under tones. Feel like I always mess up the paint selection.
I also have textured walls which seems like it's everywhere in Texas so I struggle with trying to do something different with them.
Edgecomb gray (light beige) with Kendall gray (charcoal) accent wall is beautiful as long as your furniture allows. The Kendall Gray mutes the black TV flat screen.

I need a good gray for my exterior house. I’m going crazy because they all look the same when I test them on the outside walls. Just different LRV. Anew gray is what I have picked for now. But it changes daily
What colour to paint my living room is very stressful to me as I'm useless at choosing paint colours. My fire is a hole in the wall fire with a travertine border and smoke glass. I love grey but the travertine surround has beige brown markings. Should I just stick to beige walls? More videos on painting doors frames and doors and woodwork please as that's another headache! This is so helpful as I update my home.. I purchased iro ore last week and I am going to paint our downstairs family room in that color..I like extremes as well and neutrals.. I painted our master in Hale Navy and it’s dark and moody and perfect. And the walls are covered in 3/4 wood in fluting style. Which color would you recommend for the fluting to be enhanced and the room to look bright and airy.

Hi! I have a question, if one of the "common" kitchen cabinet paint colors is Alabaster (not necessarily SW) what wall paint to use to avoid yellow undertones in both the cabinets and walls. Why is it so popular if everyone's avoiding yellow-ish... thanks?
