Kinda don’t care anymore honestly. It’s all just a business. Stop wasting money every year trying to keep up. As long as you keep your home clean, cozy and pretty that’s all that matters.
Yep. I hate quoting Oprah, but she said on her show long ago and it stuck..., "Does your home greet you when you open the door?" It's so true. So many people decorate for others just to be trendy and I can spot it as soon as I enter their homes.
Would you please consider doing a video on how you would decorate a home now, for someone that absolutely prefers a classy traditional home that looks updated?
Can you please do a video on how you became a designer? I’d love to hear the back story and then others on how your style evolved. I’ve watched all your videos and there’s certainly been an evolution. ❤ Just the confidence you have in putting together a room is inspiring and the underlying feeling you want to have in the room is spellbinding to me.
I love shopping in the trendy stores, then going to Target or TJMaxx, etc to find similar things for so much less! I also love shopping thrift stores! Great place to find all the extras like books, vases, candlesticks, etc. Love learning from you!
Oooooo this was a good one Valentina ! I love when you do this kind of video. I live in a world of neutral's, white, tan, black, but I love the cobalt blue and white rooms. Your parents home is beautiful. I'm liking the more is more trend again and some of the gold furniture done very sparingly I could go for.
I love these videos! Not because I’m going to change my home to follow the trends, but because it’s so fun to see these trends in stores and be like, “yup I knew that was coming.” 😂
😊 Near the end of the 1990's, i did my Mothers hallway wainscoting in cobalt blue by Martha Stewart the year she started her paint line (for $8 a can!) I did the top in a floral wallpaper i grabbed on a discount rack (for $3 a roll.) It still looks great & everyone comments on how beautiful & timeless it is all these years later. It cost less than $20 to refresh an entire long hallway. Those were the days!🎉
@shelleyhanson3927 Yep. Martha sold her paint at Kmart. I thought it would perform terribly, but it still looks like the day I did it....and it survived her 5 kids & 7 grandkids!😊
Love your videos, I have learned SO much! For example I know it sounds so simple but holiday decor and why it stresses me out. It didn’t match my color palette and always felt so out of place. I am so thankful I found your channel! Cheers from Chicago
Again...appreciate the directive for more individualizing a personally pleasing Home Enviornment ... vs. defining what is LUX & what is NOT! I had Country leanings before Farmhouse became a Thing...& still have valued threads from that tradition among a Variety of Others, including Modern...& even Oriental!
These are definitely the trends but you don’t have to follow them. If there are elements that you like you can have fun translating them into your own style.
The gold trend is not for me. I remember the same gold trend in the 80’s, it didn’t last long. Gold can look tacky if not done right. I do love the Victorian trends again. But actually I prefer a mix, an eclectic look does it for me.
G'DAY from Down Under! These trends seem high risk for us novices. Maybe "More is more" = More, but it seems like a big commitment too. We will be sticking to our style, which is mid century modern. Still working on trying to work that through our home, before we jump into anything else.
With the curvy sofas, I think part of it is just a reaction to so many sofas these days feeling like the same old same old. Like you walk into a typical furniture store these days and look at the sofas, and it's like every one of them you feel like you've seen a million times before. Then you see one of these curvy sofas and it's like finally, something a little different!
When Midas came on it reminded me of something I heard in the quilting world. If a quilt is 10% yellow, it’s a yellow quilt. I’d say less is more with that one. I still think your house is my number one trend!
Hello Valentinta Always love your style! Good advice…re: personal decorations. Black & white is definitely 👍🏾 my style. I also love a bit of the traditional style. I like to have a little of everything though. Blessings 🙏🏾
There’s no focal point in the mob wife style. When everything is a statement piece, nothing makes a statement and you just want to look away so the eye can rest. There was no negative space in those rooms and they were too maximalist for me.
After 4 years I still look forward to all your videos 😊. I love seeing what the new trends are but since my space (a loft) is limited in size I stick to neutrals. However, pops of color seasonally with something small like a decor piece keeps it interesting for me. I take your ideas and suggestions and scale it to fit my space. 👍👏🥰. Thank you for all the inspiration all these years. (Ps-love your blazer…I can’t find a link to it? Could you share? 😬🥰)
I love all of this! The ugly media room is interesting lol. i def love the idea of just a beautiful dark cozy room for movies! The trends are so fun to see and take little tips from! I love to take little bits from different styles and create my own. Thank you so much for showing me some really cool ideas!
Omg I'm so confused now... definitely I love the victorian style so much, I always did... but now I need to combine it with curves, rustic items and some minimalism if this is possible! Let the fun begin!!!🎉😅
Ha ha - I was laughing along with you about the ugly media rooms! I am interested in just a tad of the loud luxury. My interiors veer more towards Japandi/warm minimalism but I think this and a bit of gold/brass would add a little spark/sparkle of fun.
I love the idea of the blue! I’m debating now with doing our butler’s pantry in this or black in high gloss…🫣 also love the Victorian, lots of trim detail! 🙌🏻
Victorian!! I love the blend of classic Victorian architecture with modern furniture you illustrated so beautifully in your photos. And could you please share what is the lovely music playing in the background? It's quite magical. Thank you for a great video!
Hey Valentina, love this segment especially the Self Care Room which I would love in my bathroom, or an updated Victorian Style living area, also, love that Cobalt Blue in glass or other accessories. Also, the Ugly Media Room reminds me of a through back to some forgotten space that was once used to attract us like the Brady Bunch Living Room or Kitchen or a Disco Dance Floor!
Curvy has been around forever! I remember a curvy Porsche, back in the day. Had a buttery yellow, soft leather curvy sofa once. Gold comes and goes! currently, champagne finish vs. brass of the 90s. Use nail heads on a creamy chair. A splash of gold in a dramatic table. My new Arhaus cabinets have an arched top. A cozy faux fur blanket makes its debut in the winter. Be bold where it thrills, be quiet where you rest and contemplate.
There is NO crown molding ANYWHERE where I live 😢. Everything is very clean modern. And I am dying for the Gilded French Modern Style. Totally on board with that!
I watch cause I like to know what the trends are. My house is pretty curated. I do change my pillow covers from time to time. I'm always watching eBay for orignal art. I also have an eBay store, so it's good to keep up with the trends. I do buy from pottery barn, amber interiors, Target, Mcgee, and Co. Olive atilliers. Always checking out antique and thrift stores.
As much as I love cobalt blue I think less is more. I love a white room with blue and white vases with some light green greenery and maybe a touch of yellow in the room too but only in summer.
Love your videos , inspires me 🥰Could you give me some suggestions on bedside tables ? Racking my brain trying to figure out color, finish , size ! I have a light grey upholstered bed with silver rivets and dove grey walls, light oak floors , all white bedding , should I go with white tables or light oak , ugh , I’m going nuts trying to figure it out ! Thank you , hope you can help 🙏🏻
I’m loving a little louder luxury right now. I went to a beach club in Italy where everything was Dior. There were no logos, just those iconic prints. I was obsessed! Seeing this coming into our everyday homes is nice!
You Valentina really are an artist! I love that you get so excited & remind us to enjoy the richness or the boldness or the flavors of life. No one can afford it all , money wise or time wise but it’s fun to vicariously “go there” with each of the trends or the aesthetics you present. Your career choice - probably thanks to your mom’s bold blue - has been wonderful. Bet if a lot of people thought about it they would have chosen a career like yours rather than so many of the alternatives. Making things nice and making oneself look or dressing nice is a form of giving. And that media room trend. They can go to most thrift stores and hang out, but brining friends or family together to sit in an ugly environment? Maybe it’s a passive aggressive thing! 😂 😂 Some people do get off on getting a secret charge out of being offensive. I am glad that is not you! So, there I said all that - to kinda quote a clever designer.
Mob Wife Aesthetic IS Versace... and even Louis Vuitton on a lower level. Along with that, "gold" can look cheap and even real GOLD can still look cheap. Money does not equal Better. It is a pitfall in many design aesthetics but some are more prevalent than others.
The Mob Boss Wife things seems so tone deaf in today's political and economic climate. I think too many of us feel the chaos of the outside world and want more calm surroundings.
I am a transitional, tailored, clean lines kinda girl but I also love a new, exciting trend (even if I am just looking at how everyone else is using it). Trends keep things fun and interesting and as Jack would say "help shore up the economy!" LOL Mob Wife house? Probably not. Mob Wife she shed - it could happen. At least until the next trend comes along! 😁 Love the video, V!
I say design is like our personalities. They are all different. Normal is just a setting on the dryer. I like the moody rooms comming in. I like a little glam. But a little goes a long way for me. I love organic and I love the whole Spanish revival stuff.
Thank you for saying “you do you” and don’t incorporate a trend if it’s not to your liking. The quick changes of what’s in style /what’s out of style can put such unnecessary pressure on people.
Nope on the White Mob and maybe one piece of the Gold Furniture (I bought the Freda bar cabinet from C&B which is kind of a burnished gold but that would have been like an accent piece). I will say I love your style and have learned a lot of tips and tricks here (thanks!) but go with a lot more color in my home 😉 (SW Endless Sea on two walls in my great room and navy leather MCM Petrie couch and side chairs) 😊 but the White Mob is waaay too much. Love the Victorian/French look and the molding, etc. but unfortunately the style of my home is not super conducive and luckily I also love MCM/arts and crafts so I go with that. It’s fun to watch the trends but love that you keep it real by telling us to do what makes us happy!
I'm with you on the media room. We just turned our 18x22 "teen room" into a "movie room". I color drenched it in charcoal (Iron Ore), charcoal velvet drapes hung an inch from the ceiling, 60 inch polished nickel chandelier, massive tv, and a white cloud sofa. I absolutely LOVE it! I started questioning myself if I should have done a typical media room with recliners, etc... then we watched our first movie in there and I'll have to say... that Cloud sofa was heaven... and the room is stunning. Thanks for all of your advice through the years. It helped me to become bold in my own home. (my library and powder room are also color drenched in black)
Oh that‘s crazy… Didn‘t know that I‘m a trendsetter! 😅 A few weeks ago I put my old decor pieces from the 90s in cobalt blue and some new pillows in my livingroom and I like it very much …… until the next trend is just around the corner. 😉😁 Greetings to Valentina from Germany 😊🇩🇪
I grew up in Queens New York. Mob Wife never went out, but it will never be complete without the clear plastic slip covers on the green upholstered couch
I’m so eclectic that I have trouble settling on a specific esthetic. I live in a little midcentury farmhouse surrounded by fields and I have large windows so it makes me think I MUST do farmhouse but I like a mix and I think that’s okay.
I think that gold furniture could go well in a modern parisian design. I think it would need to be a simple lined piece or maybe a luxe woven textured wallpaper. When beige looks sad, a little more gold tone can look much nicer.
Just another name for glam style to the maximum!! Not a fan but to each his own!! I will just keep my modern coastal cottage core design. Relax neutral, calming aesthetic. All things from nature is and will always be my style.
Love cobalt blue is a gorgeous color and I have it sprinkled throughout my home. I'm totally down with the Mob Wife faux furs, but I'll pass on the "extra" home interior. It's too maximalist for my taste. What? An ugly media room? What's happening out there? Did we replace the regular family room? Yeah, that's not happening in my home either! lol
My first reaction to cobalt blue is, of course, your family is Greek! Also, cobalt blue has been a great unexpected “pop”……, maybe now it will be more expected!
Do you have a link for the beautiful cobalt blue dishes with the gold trim in the cobalt blue section? Thank you. I have used either cobalt blue or navy blue in my home for over 40 years--in some form in almost every room. It is my favorite color and will always be used. I have a feature wall right now that is navy, and when I walk into my home at the end of the day and see that blue walll--all tension and any worries just leave me. So calming and relaxing.
I love the ugly media room trend! I'm totally going to lean into this. I won't spend any money on it, though. Now I know what to do with my husband's old bachelor furniture that he refuses to get rid of.
The last few hotel stays I have had have beed disappointing. They have been dirty and the service has been subpar. I am really going to invest in my home because I'm putting a major pause on traveling. These trends are so fun and I am so inspired to turn my home into a boutique hotel! I'll be shopping CB2 and hit up some antique shops for ornate pieces.
I love the Victorian style, it would be my dream to find an old Victorian home and renovate it with a newer kitchen and central ac though! Either way the very modern styles aren't for me. I do however love watching your videos and think your style is beautiful, just not for me. The gold trend definitely isn't for me either, however a couple of those pics you showed were really beautiful! Not a fan of any blue really except maybe navy! Im not sure if I'm remembering them all but I think I could leave all the others behind!
I like your eyeshadow. Back in the mid 70’s I put pink blush on my eyelids thinking the color would be pretty (it wasn’t in back then). My Mom said I looked dead with pink on the eyelids. Fast forward decades and it’s a thing now. Looking dead or not.😂
In Perth (Aus) in the 80s one cinema had the most effective trompe l’oeil effect with a serpentine striped carpet. It was dreadfully frightening to walk on it and it made you very dizzy. Yikes, it was so 3D. I don’t like anything around my TV so I don’t get distracted from Star Wars…OG of course!
I ORDERED MY BLUMEME!!!!! 😁 NOW I NEED THAT BLAZER YOU HAVE ON PLEASE!!! ❤️ I checked your links but couldn’t find it. Can you let us know where you got it?? ❤🙏🏽
I need to check out your trending play list. I want to consult a stager/remodeler type expert to recommend improvements that will stand the test of time. I'm not selling my home, but I do want recommendations on flooring, caninetry, countertops, showers and hardware...
Cobalt is my mom faves I'm more of black, white, beige. The curvy furniture I love love it. Victorian is romanic, whimsical, beautiful, my dreams are of this time
I like these, but I wouldn't do Mob Wife in a maximalist way, just with fully unique pieces so that each thing has something unusual about it, but overall an uncluttered look where the colors, shapes and textures do the work more than quantity of things. I don't like walking into a room and there's too much stuff so that nothing is the focus. You can even pare down Victorian so the details really stand out rather than the crazy amount of patterns and things and too much art, etc. Like at 15:07, I would be itching to leave that room as soon as possible, but if the panels were all one color rather than gold on it and half the furniture disappeared, you could appreciate the room more. I didn't think those media rooms were that ugly. I'd tweak a few things, but for the most part, they were decadent and lovely.
Valentina, I have been thinking about buying a curved sofa for a couple of years now. Do you think this trend will last for good? I love them so much.😊
Valentina- out of curiosity, if a client asked you to design an ugly media room would you be able to bring yourself to do it? You might run the risk of ruining your reputation of being a designer with great taste. I don’t know that I would want my name attached to that. 😂
Honestly I wouldn't. I would have a serious conversation with them and help to imagine something better. So many times client simply ask for what they've seen others do or found on Pinterest. That's why they need help from a designer, to listen to their needs and then create something better than they could.
I suspect the ugly media room is a bit about trying to recapture feeling of being a teen hanging out in the parent’s basement. I personally don’t get media rooms, I can’t see myself using one more than a couple of times a year, so would rather do something different with the space. A library with cozy chairs (and blackout blinds for the odd movie) is much more my vibe.
I apparently am soooo past trend, lol. I used to LOVE the loud luxury, the ostentatious "mob wife" thing, the gold, the ornate victorian, moody goth vibes, even the cobalt blue....now I'm still dark and gothic, but I want EVERYTHING to be UBER sleek and modern, even futuristic or spacy, lol. I've been here and done all this, and I get it gen z is reveling in the exploration of traditional thanks to tv shows and thrifting....but give me the jetsons, but not in that atomic retro way....burn ALL the mouldings, throw all the curtains on that pire too, give me chrome and silver and hard clean lines with interesting texture, give me glass and enamel lacquer, give me incorporated smart home tech, give me ethic led lighting, give me star trek next generation, lol!
Yes Valentina, you've definitely got that mobster wife vibe happening crossed with a Sophie Lauren splash! Lol 🐆 🖤🤍🩶 Nope to cobalt blue, curved furniture, Victorian wall panels or gaudy gold furniture & definitely no media room! 🤢
It’s always interesting to see how ahead of trends I am. I fell for Cracked Pepper before it was color of the year. I painted a room cobalt last year, in a Exotica styled room. I did gold window trim in a dark charcoal room. However, I’m not doing anything to be contrary. I just follow what the room should look like and become. What’s the architecture, the style of house, the orientation of the direction? These things dictate the style. I just follow along.
Many of us have media areas in the basement. Not understanding why anyone would purposely make it ugly? 🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️. Just happy not to have a giant screen n my main living space. 😅
Kinda don’t care anymore honestly. It’s all just a business. Stop wasting money every year trying to keep up. As long as you keep your home clean, cozy and pretty that’s all that matters.
I agree but it's also fun. There's always been new stuff, even in the ancient days. It's fun to imagine, create and evolve over time.
I prefer my home to look curated, I don’t decorate with trends.
@skitcharoo9883 YES! THIS! I love The Hunt. I shop but rarely buy - it must be special!
I love that! So I'm curious....why did you watch this video? If you don't like trends what was it about the video that made you want to watch it?
Yep. I hate quoting Oprah, but she said on her show long ago and it stuck...,
"Does your home greet you when you open the door?"
It's so true. So many people decorate for others just to be trendy and I can spot it as soon as I enter their homes.

I actually like the mob wife aesthetics more than I thought I would. V you always bring us many new ideas.
I do what makes me happy period. I could care less what’s in trend, I understand you as a designer have to keep up with trends. Thanks for sharing.

Why is the new trends are always so modern looking. I’m kinda of an elegant cottage style!!

@geoffsmiley8252 I agree, loved all the photos here.

I have a little of that mob wife aesthetic and quite luxury. It's not overdone .
Fur, mirror, a little animal print, gold frames etc.
Gorgeous ❤
Mob wife is so fun, but I think a few pieces, like great tiger pillows and fur, heck yeah!
So true, there are definitely some fun pieces to pull out!!!
Thank you for saying “you do you” and don’t incorporate a trend if it’s not to your liking. The quick changes of what’s in style /what’s out of style can put such unnecessary pressure on people.
House of Valentina, Great content!
Thank you so much!
I love this!!! I would love to see your rooms, they sound amazing!
Yeah, that's not happening in my home either! lol
Nothing floating my boat here 😔. Thanks V x
Please make a video about interiors and furnishings that are timeless. i.e. how to avoid wasting money on trends. 😃
I thought chrome was making a comeback?? Love bold
You are hilarious! Wholeheartedly agree on ugly media rooms, but to each his/her own.
Thank you so much!
That sounds like so much fun! Keep me updated on your progress!
Drapes, is it a yes or no???
Mob wife aesthetic reminds me abit of Teresa Giudice RHONJ first home… ☺️
Holy cow
Lite gold
I ORDERED MY BLUMEME!!!!! 😁 NOW I NEED THAT BLAZER YOU HAVE ON PLEASE!!! ❤️ I checked your links but couldn’t find it. Can you let us know where you got it?? ❤🙏🏽
Santorini Blue. I see you Greek girl!
Will you please share the wall color behind you in this video?
I need to check out your trending play list. I want to consult a stager/remodeler type expert to recommend improvements that will stand the test of time. I'm not selling my home, but I do want recommendations on flooring, caninetry, countertops, showers and hardware...
Cobalt is my mom faves I'm more of black, white, beige. The curvy furniture I love love it. Victorian is romanic, whimsical, beautiful, my dreams are of this time
I love that combination!!
Lol. I love you Valentina. Great video. 😘
If i went w/the mob wife trend, it would stress me out to the point I wouldn't want to live in my home but that's just me.
Ha, we don't want that!!! I would definitely pull some elements in but my overall aesthetic is more calm and neutral with pops of sass and attitude! 😀
Cobalt blue is ok in ceramics. On the wall it looks a bit like Walmart blue.
Stick to traditional decor. Classic and timeless. Don’t flush money down the toilet listening to these so called self proclaimed designers.
Lol 🐆 🖤🤍🩶
Nope to cobalt blue, curved furniture, Victorian wall panels or gaudy gold
furniture & definitely no media room! 🤢
Ugly Media Rooms... yep, I'm with you! All of those images smelled like cigarettes.
Mob wife??? Too much for me! It will disturb my soul😮 rather give me soft and calm colors 😊
i have had a cobalt blue bowl for the past ten years. it has always looked out of place.
Many of us have media areas in the basement. Not understanding why anyone would purposely make it ugly? 🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️. Just happy not to have a giant screen n my main living space. 😅
If gold furniture and luxury are trending, I know who's going to win the election.
Mob wife aesthetic 🤮🤮🤮. The exact opposite of quiet luxury.
So true.
