    Thanks for the video but there is no need to replace the rotors, especially high quality OEM rotors with high carbon content. Hammering is not necessary, just use M8 1.25 bolt (many in Corolla use it like exhaust heat sields, etc. Grinding the caliper mount is also not necessary if it is has no bad corrosion and cause the pads jammed. The rest are great and Zn coated rotors are a good trend and avoid corrosion. Mostly is cosmetics on the OEM rotors. Non coated aftermarket rotors indeed can corrode very badly but not the OEM

      altho they don't need to be replaced nearly as often as pads, maybe every 2-4 pad changes, you absolutely should eventually replace rotors as they get warped over time, especially with regular start-and-stop driving or hard braking.

      @@mongolhorde no, they don't get wrapped if you use a good brake pads. It may get thinner and reach minimum thickness and when it is hot, it has uneven coefficient friction. With semimetalic original pads, I noticed it gets thinner about 0.5 mm every pad sets. Generally when we lost about 2 mm, it is time to change and you are right about it. Mine is different case, it rusted on the edges and cause only middle side has good contact. So, I buy Zimmermann disc with zn coating instead. It is 1/2 price as Advics genuine Toyota. You also can buy Napa premiun, the same type but not made jmin Germany

    Not going to show how you got the two screws off of the rotor before removal?
    Or do they not have them on there from the factory like you said?
    I have one to do today and I am just wondering how fast it will go and those two screws are always the hardest things in a brake job for me and are always rusty and seized.

      Toyotas don't have these screws. Honda, Acura, Kia, Hyundai have 2 screws holding the rotor. If you're doing one of those just make sure you use a Philips #3 bit. Do not use Philips #2 because it will strip. Use a small torch to help you remove them.

    I'm having a problem finding a location for a floor jack on my 2017 im. Do you have any advice?

    • @OneTrickTech
      @OneTrickTech  2 роки тому

      If you have the side skirts on the corolla IM, you can go past the pinch weld where the body frame is. You can also jack it up from the lower ball joint if that's easier.
