Today Charles scored his 6th head-to-head match! As far as accuracy goes, he's virtually tied with Betty for the top spot now. Richard has been chosen the most by far, and also has the most overall wins at 10, but his accuracy average is the lowest on this list. If you include the celebs who've only matched once or twice, then Richard has the absolute lowest accuracy score of *all 20 celebs* who have ever matched a contestant in the head-to-head bonus round. Here's an update on all 5 celebs to have scored 3 or more matches so far, along with their current accuracy %: Betty - 46.7% (7 wins in 15 attempts). Charles - 46.2% (6 wins in 13 attempts). Bert - 30.8% (4 wins in 13 attempts). Brett - 28.6% (4 wins in 14 attempts). Richard - 24.4% (10 wins in 41 attempts). Mark Goodson had no idea that MG’s high ratings came from teenagers (like me) coming home from school and watching MG for the humor and the racy answers and banter. I read that after a while, when Goodson Todman was making a bundle from the show because it hit #1 in the ratings, that he backed off and let Gene do whatever he wanted.
That's might be partially correct. A rating service called Nielsen, actually mailed out paper forms to random house asking what those were watching during the day. I don't remember them counting how many people were watching what they were counting were how many sets were turned in. They mailed the surveys on a national basis, tabulated the results and the informed the stations and advertises of the results.
Fast food was much less and prevalent and considered as an occasional treat by most folks back then. Compared to today where FF is a staple in most people's weekly diets.
Everyone they allow on the show are fit. I grew up in the 60's and there were fat people back then and in the 70's, 80's, 90's, etc. It's just that there are a few more than usual these days. The FDA's nutritional guide doesn't help by pushing grains and dairy products. The rule is, don't eat what cows eat.
I looked up the average weight of the U.S. woman in 1970; 130 lbs. Average weight of the U.S. woman in 2020; 170 lbs. That's a HUGE difference. Pun intended.
@@kristabrewer6736 lol. I know a MG contestasnt named Marcy Schneidmiller ended up on Feud in 94. You can look her up on UA-cam. She won about 16,000 on MG. She ended up on Feud twice because of some irregularity with her first appearance. Marcy comes on MG 77 episode 1077, about 7 minutes in. It's interesting to see her as a young contestant on MG and then to see her and her 2 grown daughters in 94 on Feud. Check it out.
Imagine if Fred Gwynne were a guest panelist, and Gene Rayburn mentioned Lidsville. Gwynne (in a menacing "Herman Munster" voice) would boom to CNR, "I'm going to kill you for harassing my boy, Eddie!" And Brett Somers probably wouldn't protect CNR from Gwynne. (If you don't get the joke, on Lidsville, CNR played an evil magician, who harassed a lost teenage boy (played by Butch Patrick aka Eddie Munster).

Brett just can't stop talking for 3 seconds. She has a snide comment about everyone and everything. What did Jack Klugman have on Ira to get him to let Brett have a career running her big mouth nonstop on the show?
Could that be her normal manner of speech? When she mentioned that her 10th wedding anniversary was six days away, her husband looked like he wished he were dead. Lol.

If I were on the show in the 1974, I would choose CNR for the super match!

I agree with Brett on the sonny and Cher question because on the actual show she ALWAYS made fun of his size
Charles Nelson Reilly is astounding!!
Nygie- such a soft spoken delicate soul
Gene’s favorite tie again.
Great funny show. I loved a show where Gene said goodbye ladies but one was a man. So funny. The end of the show.❤
Nygie (I hope I spelled it right) is such a sweetheart! I hope she's still alive and well, and married now, for 57 years.
I wanted to write that too. She is so sweet and adorable.💖
She is so adorable.
I want to plagiarize/sample/ PAY HOMAGE to Gene Rayburn when I say "Thank you for coming out AND doing this show" with correct breathing...✌
Gene wouldn't miss it for the world.. ;0)
Panelists:
1. Orson Bean
2. Brett Somers
3. Charles Nelson Reilly
4. Meredith McRay
5. Richard Dawson
6. Marcia Wallace
On this date in 1980, Charlotte starring Charles Nelson Reilly as Josias Von Stien opened.
13:45 Isn't this the episode in which Marcia answers "genitalia" and it was cut out and she was made to write a more "appropriate" card?
I think it turned up later, I keep thinking it was MGPM episode.. Could be wrong.. Before Richard left.. Can anyone remember?
I can't believe that word was such a bad word, are this people crazy by making someone write a new card for this?🤔

Teens may have been a SMALL part of it but it was more like 25-40 age range. Teens didn't understand half the stuff on this show. LOL

Yes, my high school classmate at Newbury Park high school 1979.
Love Charles' striped pants.
Crazy styles like that were normal. Gene wears some crazy pants, shirts, ties but as long as you have a blue blazers it's all "legal".
